Short post – 1 page

Background:

Students will identify their OM approach by studying the history of OM. Chapter 1 discusses the impacts of the Industrial Revolution and the development of scientific management on modern OM. Students will also consider other OM developments such as the human relations movement, the decision model, and management science. Another major force of change that has affected OM came from the rapid development of information management (IM) systems to support business operations. These IM systems have evolved to advanced levels in today’s workplace and their technologies continue to change at a rapid pace.

Globalization is another factor that has had an enormous impact in the commercial world today and the diffusion of globalization continues. Globalization matters to most new business initiatives as several questions must be asked. First is the question, “What global competitive forces and factors are present that will impact my own business initiative?” There may be global companies ready to launch their own initiative in a domestic market and they must understand how their product/service and pricing structure hold up against the competition. Another key question is whether a company can immediately launch a new business initiative overseas as part of its deployment strategy. There can be considerable advantage in a simultaneous deployment as overhead costs could be disbursed over a wider spectrum of sales. There are unique risks in doing business overseas, but the potential benefits involved make it worthwhile to investigate early in the design and development phases of a business initiative.

Another key development in the last 50 years has been the issue of ethical conduct in the business community. In the past, this was a nice to havecommodity, but today, the ethical ramifications of management’s decisions must be considered up front in all major company decisions. In fact, ethical practices closely align to the legal legitimacy of a firm.

As an aid to understand change and its forces, a technique known as force field analysis is often used. This tool helps organize and evaluate the elements of change so a firm can see the effects of changes in OM when developing new markets and new lines. A firm can use force field analysis to help with migrating actions. The tool can aid decision makers in comprehending the level of effort required during transformations.

Question/Topic

Using professional, personal, or academic experience, describe the operations management (OM) framework or environment in which you work or are most familiar with. Briefly discuss those key factors that drove change in the OM environment in which you work. Note the general nature of these factors, such as technology, economic, political, or other.

IT Security Week 3

Your group is working for a global organization that handles highly classified intellectual property. In many situations and scenarios, the implementation and operations teams have been creating and setting up environments that violate your vision for security. After discussing the situation with various parties, they all admit they do not fully know or understand what is expected from them as they set up and configure the environment. To solve this situation, your group has been asked to create a network security policy for the organization.

Each group member will choose an element of the policy to design, and the group will collaborate on what the overall design and outline should look like and include components from end-user behavior, a training plan, file and folder access, social engineering safeguards, bring-your-own-device policies, use of external drives on company assets, security hardware, penetration testing, and affiliation of the information security department with law enforcement agencies. Students may either interview someone in the local FBI field office or research the FBI and DHS Web sites related to information-sharing programs that the government offers; this could be advantageous to the organization’s information security program.

  • To keep the scope narrow, your group should first describe what should be included and what should not be included in the policy (remember that a policy should clearly set management’s expectations).
  • After the scope has been defined, research the various components, and create an appropriate policy.

Assignment Details

In some manner, people have all performed project management at various times in their lives, often without even knowing that they were doing it. Project management is performing and completing a group of activities to accomplish some specific goal. Project management can be applied to something as large and complex as putting humans on Mars to as small and simple as building a tree house in your backyard. In either situation, the projects progress through the same stages.

Think about something that you have done that fits the definition of a project, and discuss how the project progressed through the different phases of the project life cycle. Submit a 3-page paper that addresses the following:

  • Describe      the project and how it differed from an operation.
  • What      activities were performed that were part of following phases?
    • Initiating
    • Planning
    • Executing
    • Closing
  • How      were the principles of project management applied to this project?
  • What      skills and knowledge of the project manager were applied to make you      successful (or were lacking, which led to failure)?
  • What      lessons were learned in this project that could be applied to future      projects?

Use this template to complete this assignment.

Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:

  • Title page: The      title should be in all capitals.
  • Length: 3 pages      minimum
  • Body: This      begins on the page following the title page and abstract page and must be      double-spaced (be careful not to triple- or quadruple-space between      paragraphs). The typeface should be 12-pt. Times Roman or 12-pt. Courier      in regular black type. Do not use color, bold type, or italics, except as      required for APA-level headings and references. The deliverable length of      the body of your paper for this assignment is 3 pages. In-body academic      citations to support your decisions and analysis are required. A variety      of academic sources is encouraged.
  • Reference page: References      that align with your in-body academic sources are listed on the final page      of your paper. The references must be in APA format using appropriate      spacing, hanging indent, italics, and uppercase and lowercase usage as      appropriate for the type of resource used. Remember, the Reference page is      not a bibliography but a further listing of the abbreviated in-body      citations used in the paper. Every referenced item must have a      corresponding in-body citation.

Facility Manager Interview: Part I

The job of a sport facility manager is a busy one with many responsibilities. For this assignment, you will locate a sport facility manager for an interview. Examples of sports facilities in your area may include a college arena, high school gymnasium, YMCA, fitness center, or a parks and recreation facility. To set up the interview, you will need to call the facility and speak to the manager to schedule a time. Be sure to schedule the interview before the end of Unit II, as you will write about the interview in that unit.

Then, you will develop 10 questions to ask in the interview with your chosen sport facility manager. These questions should help you to determine the basic principles that are necessary for sports facility management. Next, you will write a two-page paper sharing information about the facility, the learning goals of the interview, and the 10 questions you have developed for the interview.

This assignment will be completed in two parts. The interview does not have to be conducted to complete Part I of this assignment. For this assignment (Part I), you will only locate the manager, determine what you want to learn from the interview, and write the questions. You will complete the interview before the end of Unit II and write about the results of the interview in Unit II.

Steps for completing the assignment are as follows:

  1. Use your textbook and the Internet to identify the needed competencies and basic principles for the job of sport facility manager.
  2. Choose a practicing sport facility manager to interview. Contact the facility manager to schedule a date and time to meet for your interview.
    1. The interview can be conducted in person, by phone, by email, or via Skype, Facetime, Google Hangout, or another video chat service.
  3. Develop 10 questions to ask in an interview with a sport facility manager. Focus your questions to help you understand more about what the facility manager’s job is like (e.g., What do you spend most of your time doing?). When developing the questions, remember the purpose of the interview is to learn about principles related to sports facility management.
  4. Write the paper. Include in the content:
    1. information about the sport facility,
    2. what you hope to learn from the interview (learning goals), and

    • Description of the Sport Facility and its Manager
    • Learning Goals
    • Questions for an Interview with [Sport Facility Manager]
    • Conclusion

  • Avoid the serious consequence of plagiarism by using your own words, and include citations for sources you used.
  • As with all discussion board responses and assignments, non-scholarly sources such as Wikipedia and About.com may not be cited in your work.

I am OK with the interview being conducted through skype, email, Facetime, Zoom, phone call etc.  You don’t have to conduct it in person if that is not possible.

*It is OK if the person isn’t a sports facility manager professional.due to the time constraint in finding someone to interview.  I am OK with you interviewing a parent coach or someone you know who is (or was in the past) involved in sports as an athlete, coach, or administrator at some level (recreational or professional).  They could have been involved as a parent coach, local team coach, sports volunteer, or huge sports fan that follows sports in society, etc.

Assignment 2: Process Recordings

A process recording is a written tool used by field education experience students, field instructors, and faculty to examine the dynamics of social work interactions in time. Process recordings can help in developing and refining interviewing and intervention skills. By conceptualizing and organizing ongoing activities with social work clients, you are able to clarify the purpose of interviews and interventions, identify personal and professional strengths and weaknesses, and improve self-awareness. The process recording is also a useful tool in exploring the interpersonal dynamics and values operating between you and the client system through an analysis of filtering the process used in recording a session.

For this Assignment, you will submit a process recording of your field education experiences specific to this week.

Note: You are submitting a written transcript, not an audio or video recording.

The Assignment (2–4 pages):

  • Provide a transcript of what happened during your field education experience, including a dialogue of interaction with a client.
  • Explain your interpretation of what occurred in the dialogue, including social work practice theories, and explain how it might relate to diversity or cultural competence covered this week.
  • Describe your reactions and/or any issues related to your interaction with a client during your field education experience.
  • Explain how you applied social work practice skills when performing the activities during your process recording.

question on trusts

Donald established an irrevocable trust on May 10, 2017. The trust named his wife, Melinda, as trustee and named his daughter, Daisy, as backup trustee.

The trust instrument contained the following key provisions:

This trust is irrevocable. To the extent allowed by law, the assets in this trust shall not be subject to the beneficiaries’ liabilities or creditors and shall not be subject to assignment or anticipation by any beneficiary.

During the lifetime of the grantor, the trustee may, in her sole discretion, distribute assets to or for the benefit of the spouse and/or children of the grantor to the extent that she deems appropriate for their health, education, maintenance and support. However, no distribution shall be made for the benefit of Melinda under this Paragraph without the express consent of at least one child or grandchild of the grantor.

During the first five years of the trust’s existence, the trustee may, in her discretion, also use trust income (but not principal) for the benefit of Donald, the grantor. After five years shall have elapsed from the execution of this trust, this power shall cease to exist and shall be null and void.

After the death of the last to die of the grantor and his wife, the remaining trust assets, if any, shall be distributed to and among the children of the grantor, in equal shares, per stirpes.

You may assume that the remaining provisions of the trust are fairly standard boilerplate provisions and are not relevant to this question.

On June 1, 2018, Donald transferred $2,000,000 to this trust.

Please answer the following questions regarding this trust:

1)          1.   How much (if any) of the transfer is eligible for the gift tax marital deduction? Explain.

2)          2.   Are the trust assets part of Donald’s taxable estate? What does this depend on? Explain.

3)          3.   Why are gifts to this trust not eligible for the gift tax annual exclusion? What could be done to change that? Please describe.

4)          4.   Are the trust assets part of Melinda’s taxable estate? Explain.

5)          5.   For income tax purposes, is this trust considered a “grantor trust”? Explain.

In answering each question, please make sure to cite applicable authority. For this assignment, that means citing appropriate statutes in the Internal Revenue Code. The answer to each question on this assignment appears in the Internal Revenue Code itself. There is no need to cite regulations or case law. It is expected that all of your answers will cite appropriate sections of the Internal Revenue Code.  Be sure to fully explain your answers.

Data types

Respond to the discussions below with 150 words or more.

Abstract data types (ADTs) exist only conceptually, and do not have any  concrete existence in a language. Their purpose is to define behavior  and state management (Abstract data type, 2021). Queues are an example  of an ADT. General purpose data structures are a class level  implementation of the abstract data type that is a collection of data  values, their relationships, and the operations that can be applied to  said data (Data structure, 2021). These do exist in the form of code.  Data types are a concrete instance of a class in the form of defined  class objects. To put this into simpler terms, it is an attribute of  data which tells the computer how the data is intended to be used (Data  type, 2021). An integer is an example of a common data type. Each one of  these terms is defined differently, but they all work together.  Abstract data types define operations, general purpose data structures  implement said operations, and data types classify data by values and  operations. If a data type cannot specify any sort of concrete  implementation, then it is an abstract data type. Data structures are an  efficient way to store said data. Examples of data structures include  Linked Lists. Let’s take a closer look at the ADT and data structure  examples: queues and linked lists. A queue is an interface, which means  that it needs a concrete class for declaration (GeeksforGeeks, 2020).  This is what makes a queue an abstract data type. One of the most common  classes that queues use to declare data is a linked list. A linked list  is the implementation of a linear data structure where the elements are  linked using pointers and addresses (GeeksforGeeks, 2021). Queues do  not have concrete implementation and linked lists do. So, while a Linked  List can act as the physical implementation of a queue, a queue must  rely on a data structure for implementation. The distinction may seem  subtle at first, but the difference is important.
