3 assignments listed below

1.

In a 350 word essay, compare and contrast the healthcare system of the United States with the WHO’s Millennium Development Goals. Be sure that you are providing the significant components of the US system as well as the WHO’S Millennium Development Goals.

The essay must be submitted using 12 point times new roman font double spaced in APA format. You must have at least one reference on a separate reference page. The assignment must be submitted in APA format; you do not need an abstract.

2.

Children have always contributed to the total number of migrants crossing the southern border of the United States illegally, but in 2014, a steady overall increase in unaccompanied minors from Central America reached crisis proportions when tens of thousands of children from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras crossed the Rio Grande and overwhelmed border patrols and local infrastructure (Dart 2014).

Since legislators passed the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 in the last days of the Bush administration, unaccompanied minors from countries that do not share a border with the United States are guaranteed a hearing with an immigration judge where they may request asylum based on a “credible” fear of persecution or torture (U.S. Congress 2008). In some cases, these children are looking for relatives and can be placed with family while awaiting a hearing on their immigration status; in other cases, they are held in processing centers until the Department of Health and Human Services makes other arrangements (Popescu 2014).

The 2014 surge placed such a strain on state resources that Texas began transferring the children to Immigration and Naturalization facilities in California and elsewhere, without incident for the most part. On July 1, 2014, however, buses carrying the migrant children were blocked by protesters in Murrietta, California, who chanted, “Go home” and “We don’t want you.” (Fox News and Associated Press 2014; Reyes 2014).

A functional perspective theorist might focus on the dysfunctions caused by the sudden influx of underage asylum seekers, while a conflict perspective theorist might look at the way social stratification influences how the members of a developed country are treating the lower-status migrants from less-developed countries in Latin America. An interactionist theorist might see the significance in the attitude of the Murrietta protesters toward the migrant children.

Respond to the following questions in a 350-word essay using 12 point times new roman font double spaced: Given the fact that these children are fleeing various kinds of violence and extreme poverty, how should the U.S. government respond? Should the government pass laws granting a general amnesty? Or should it follow a zero-tolerance policy, automatically returning any and all unaccompanied minor migrants to their countries of origin so as to discourage additional immigration that will stress the already overwhelmed system? Which theoretical perspective makes the most sense to you?

3.

You are to write a short essay about the state of the world at the end of the twenty-first century by addressing the following questions:

Will the world be in better shape at the end of the twenty-first century than it is today? Compared to the twentieth century, do you think that the twenty-first century will have more wars, environmental disasters, poverty, disease, and hope for the future? Will religion play a greater role in the lives of people in our country? Will scientists find a cure for AIDS, cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, the common cold? How long will the average American live? Will a woman be President of the U.S.? Will oil fuel-based automobiles still be in existence? What about working with computers: Will computers be as smart as humans and have personalities like humans? Will humans make regular trips to other planets? Will beings that live on other planets come in contact with people here in our country? Will there be one world government ruling the entire planet and /or one worldwide religion? Which present country will be the greatest threat to the position of the United States in world affairs throughout the twenty-first century? Will the Second Coming of Jesus Christ occur sometime in the next thousand years? Will the U.S. still be a major player on the world scene? What about the impact of robotics? What about the present nuclear family form in our country?

For this essay, you will

~ respond to the above questions with a minimum of 350 words

~use 12 point times new roman font.

~have a reference page.

~include a title page that contains your name, the class, the date.

Palliative care is delivered to patients and their families when they are at their most helpless and vulnerable situations. Undoubtedly, palliative care is a perfect fit APRNs since they love the challenge of working with difficult and complex situations in addition to enjoy building close relationships with their patients and families. This type of care focuses on providing relief from physical symptoms and stress of serious or terminal illnesses (e.g., cancer), in addition to address the whole person. Likewise, palliative practice offers the opportunity to work thoroughly with an interdisciplinary team, including psychologists, nurses, physicians, social work, dietitians, pharmacists and volunteers, all functioning to treat challenging symptoms such as pain, depression, fatigue, constipation and a number of other symptoms associated with chronic medical conditions and mental health (Schroeder & Lorenz, 2017).

APRNs play a unique role in palliative care. As APRN typically implement a holistic approach to address the physical, emotional, spiritual and social aspects of the patient’s and family’s needs. At present, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommends that care decisions be evidence-based to effectively and efficiently care for patients and provide effective care in the end of life. This type of approach has been shown to improve patient outcomes and reduce health care costs throughout the lifespan, particularly at the end of life. Accordingly, a palliative care is regarded an evidence-based intervention and result in a higher quality of life and increased dignity, emotional and spiritual support, and patient and family well-being. Evidence suggests that patients receiving palliative and hospice care live longer when compared with similar patients who do not receive those services. At present, hospice services extend palliative care principles to the end of life (Dobbins, 2016).

In summary, multiple studies have emphasized the importance of meaningful conversations on an individual level in which key aspects related to patients’ values, goals, and preferences of care are discussed. Typically, most patients are not aware of the choices they have at the end of their lives. Therefore, APRNs should use the information and materials available to inform and advise their patients of possible options. Definitively, APRNs are recognized as skilled clinicians who interpret patient responses to diseases and treatments, advocate for holistic and effective care, facilitate relationships with other care providers, and provide bio-psychosocial care. Nowadays, APRNs serve as primary care hospitalists, administrators and health care providers. In addition, they function as researchers, educators, and advocates, and researchers. APRNs are perfectly positioned to improve the quality and availability of medical and social services for patients and their families, enhancing quality of life through the end of life (Dobbins, 2016).

I need help

Select a health care organization in your community to conduct an interview with an appropriate risk management employee. The organization can be your current employer, or a different health care facility in your community. Acute care, urgent care, large multi-provider private medical clinics, assisted living facilities, and community/public health clinical facilities are all ideal options to complete the requirements of this assignment. Make sure to select an individual who can provide sufficient information regarding how that organization manages risk within its facility to answer the questions below.

In your interview, address the following:

  1. Identification of the challenges the organization faces in controlling infectious diseases.
  2. Risk management strategies used in the organization’s infection control program, along with specific examples.
  3. How the facility’s educational risk management program addresses key professional issues, such as prevention of negligence, malpractice litigation, and vicarious liability.
  4. Policies the facility has implemented that address managing emergency triage in high-risk areas of health care service delivery.
  5. Strategies the facility utilizes to monitor and maintain its risk management program.

Post-interview, compose a 750-1,000 word summary analysis of the interview to include the questions above as well as the following elements:

  1. A brief assessment of the organization’s risk management program, including what works well and what could work better (the pros and cons).
  2. Action steps you would take to improve the program. Select one area and provide your rationale and possible steps required to implement your suggestion.

An essay on comics! Batman The Dark Night rises (pick one of 3 options)

Essay must be in MLA format and a minimum of 1500 words. If these guidelines are not met, a passing grade will not be given.  Be sure to reference specific panels and pages as support to your claim, do not summarize the comic/graphic novel, instead analyze. Make sure to have a solid thesis/claim. Do not add images to the essay.

***Do not use “I – We -You -Us” – make sure to analyze, not summarize. Use references and quotes as proof – avoid long quotes. Make sure to cite your references and quote properly at the end of the sentence, not at the beginning/middle – include author’s/artist’s last name and page number – for example (Miller 33). However make sure to also reference panel, so use (Miller 1/33) = panel 1 & page 33. Multiple panels (Miller 1-3/33) = panels 1-3 page 33. This is not an “official” citation format but a clear reference. Make sure to cite both panel and page for every reference.

pick one of 3 options:

Option #1: Compare the comic, Batman, The Dark Knight Returns, against Daytripper . Optional topics to explore, but are not limited to : characterization/identity, life/death, relationships, how gender plays a role, imagery, wants/needs in life, consequences of the hero. Do not contrast, compare. Make sure to analyze, not summarize.

Option #2: Compare the comic, Batman, The Dark Knight Returns with any version of the Batman movies. Analyze the similarities with specificity on a particular topic(s) regarding the comic character Batman, and the movie character Batman. It is not enough to say they are similar, but what about their similarities creates their identity with relation to his abilities/strengths/weaknesses/moral etc, and who they are and become? Analyze the characters in respect to comparison, not contrast. *Do not compare the animation version to this comic. There are the same.

Option #3: Analyze the graphic novel/comic Daytripper or Batman The Dark Knight Returns and demonstrate Joseph Campbell’s theories related to the “The Hero’s Journey” (located in the Batman module). All stages of the journey must be explicated, or the essay is considered incomplete.

research article paper

Select a recently published (5 years old MAX)  article from an academic journal or academic conference related to software engineering.

1) Summarize the paper, do not just quote the opening summary.

2) Describe the salient point that the author(s) researched or presented as “new”

3) Check at least one source from the bibliography and describe specifically what the authors of your selected paper referenced.

4) Describe any shortfalls or items the authors of your selected paper did not address

5) List and describe at least one possible item left unanswered that could still be researched (this may be what the authors “left out”)

6) You must cite the journal or conference

7) This is NOT to be from a marketing web page, company whitepaper, or Wikipedia.

This must be in DOC or PDF format but should resemble a published article regarding font selection and size. I do not expect it to be in 2-column format.

This is similar to 1/4 of a doctoral comprehensive exam, but you are not answering any specific question. You should think of this as preparation for a one-hour presentation. You are NOT presenting, nor are you creating a presentation. This is just a paper that should be no longer than two pages, single space 12pt text. Images ARE allowed but should be similar in size to the original article. No more than one half page of your entire paper should be images.

A bibliography should be included at the end of your paper, that is similar to the original article but should only have the few articles you examined & discussed.

P4–Welch (Shell Games)

Welch Shell Games prologue and ch1.pdf download

(OPTIONAL) By the way, if you liked this reading, you may like this recent report in Mother Jones Magazine about the “Codfather”, a long-time fish pirate on the east coast.  Linked HERE (Links to an external site.).  Note, this reading is not required but is an extra article if you enjoy the crime detective side of the story.  You are writing about Welch’s Shell Games.

Papers are a chance to take the more “fact” driven textbook and combine it with some real world knowledge in “readable chapters”.   For each paper, please read the assigned paper and create a “summary” of the article, chapter, or work.  Summaries are a synthesis of the key ideas and reduce the content down to 1.5 to 2 pages, e.g. cliff notes.  In other words, get rid of the fluff.  It should still be a coherent story, easily read, should not include any evaluation, and should not include any “I” statements.  You will be graded on how well written your summary is including grammar and spelling. Note, it should also not include any “in this article, the author”.  Write it from the author’s perspective.

The second part is an evaluation of the reading.  Here is your chance to critique the reading.  What did you like?  What did you not like?  What confused you?  What was too simple?  What else should have been or not been included?  Who is the target population?  Were you interested or bored?  Exact questions are not required, but should provide a guide.  Typically the evaluation will be about 1/2 a page.

Formatting.  Standard font.  Size 12.  Double spaced.  Standard margins.  Name and author of the paper should be included.

See the rubric for how the assignment will be graded.  Papers are due at the end of the day on the assigned date and are to be turned in through the Assignment’s Dropbox.  Document must be a doc, docx, rtf, or pdf (preferred).  PDF’s can be created easily in word, by choosing SAVE AS and then change the type to PDF.

Based on USA Philosophy

The attachment (FALD master list)  has the instructions and you must follow them completely

There is a list of 45

each answer will look like #4 in the attachment which is like this:

Appeal to common practice

What it is: This is an attempt to justify an action or a practice (rather than a claim) by claiming that the action or practice is common. Caution: This may be a roundabout way of requesting “fair play,” in which case the person has bypassed the issue of what constitutes “fairness” (since that’s difficult to answer!) and has certainly in some instances circumvented the law or an established policy. The point is that even if it is true that lots of people do something, this fact by itself is not a sufficient reason to engage in their practice. Nazism and racism are obvious examples of things lots of people do, or have, engaged in, but that doesn’t justify the behavior. Example: “Everybody comes in late once in a while, so I’m not going to worry when I walk into class fifteen minutes late today.”

Assignment Details (Repeated on MS Word Document)

Our treatment of all of these – and the many more that you can find on the Internet! – will be selective, but this constitutes our required list.  So, this is the Big List, and your ASSIGNMENT is to:

  1. State what each FALD is (e.g., answer the question, “What is a circumstantial ad hominem fallacy?”);
  2. Give a clear example of each;
  3. Add a clear explanation of how the FALD gets used, making sure that your explanation is clear enough so that it separates the particular FALD you are writing about from all other FALDS that may otherwise resemble it;
  4. Refrain from using any of my words or examples that you may come across in subsequent “exam preparation” and “classroom presentation” copies of this list, and remove any of my own included examples once you have used them to help you understand what we are doing;
  5. You are free to use other people’s examples (although I prefer fresh examples), but when you do so, you must include a citation, preferably embedded within the text as opposed to printing the entire URL.
  6. Change the header information so that it accurately reflects that it is your work.

ASSIGNMENT 6 Policy action Plan

Your recommendation in the policy brief you presented, in Topic 5, has been accepted by the committee, taken through the legislative process, and is now ready for implementation. Create an action plan for implementation. Once you have your ideas outlined you will prepare an implementation presentation for the legislator to communicate to all stakeholders. Your 10-15 slide presentation should include:

  • Any stakeholders (any individual or group that would be impacted by the policy)
  • Required resources and who provides them (what is needed to implement the policy)
  • Challenges that might be encountered
  • Time Frame (time frame should be reasonable)
  • Evaluation processes ( how will you ensure the policy is effective)
  • Summarize how agencies, personnel, and public involved in the implementation of the policy will be impacted. Include a description of the considerations needed for seamless implementation of the policy for all stakeholders.

Use three to five scholarly resources to support your explanations.

Include speaker notes below each content-related slide that represent what would be said if giving the presentation in person. Expand upon the information included in the slide and do not simply restate it. Please ensure the speaker notes include 50-75 words per slide.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, including an APA formatted reference slide, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

This benchmark assignment assesses the following programmatic competencies: 3.3 Analyze the impact of policies or regulations on agencies, personnel, and the public.

Assignment Description

In your own words, answer this unit’s discussion questions in a main post (recommended minimum 350 words), and respond to at least two peers’ postings (recommended minimum 100 words).

After you have reviewed the Assignment Details below, click the Discussion Board link under the My Work heading above to open the Discussion Board and make your post.

Code comments are a way to annotate computer code with helpful information aimed at future developers. Not all experts agree on how it should be used, or indeed if it should be used at all. Some employers require its use, but others are less enthusiastic, and some actively discourage it.

For this discussion, consider these ideas as well as your own reading and experiences. Then address one of the following questions in your post:

  1. “// Don’t change this line; it hurts!” Is this a useful code comment? Why or why not?
  2. If you worked with other software developers, would you appreciate comments in their code? How do you think they would benefit from comments in your code?
  3. If you managed a team of software developers, would you require them to use code comments? If so, to what degree would you have rules and procedures to follow, if any?
  4. In The Elements of Programming Style, a well-known computing study from the late 1970s, Kernighan and Plauger advocated a number of guidelines, called “lessons”, which they felt should guide software development, such as “Write clearly — don’t be too clever”, and “Avoid too many temporary variables”. One lesson was “Don’t document bad code — rewrite it”. Consider the meaning of this lesson in the context of code commenting. What does it mean to you?
  5. In recent years documentation generators have come along that can search for code comments, add them to an index, and annotate them with additional tips and cross-referencing. How might such a system be helpful or a hindrance?
