Preparing to deliver a speech

Part 1: Post a Response

Which one of the strategies listed below do you believe will best  help you prepare to deliver your introductory speech in an online  environment? Thoroughly explain how your chosen strategy will benefit  you as you prepare to deliver your recorded online speech.

  • Ask your family and friends to listen and provide constructive criticism.
  • Consider (analyze) your audience.
  • Time your speech and be certain it meets the assignment’s guidelines.

Respond to Classmate post below 5-7 sentences

Hello class and Professor:

For this week’s discussion I chose the first option. I would  always have my family and friends listen to my speech and provide  constructive criticism before recording my speech because they may  notice things that I don’t. My grandmother calls this looking for the  outside in. You can give a speech and think you have done an amazing job  in your own opinion but there are things that people listening may  notice about your speech that you don’t. The criticism that they give  back allows you to see the things that they see that you need to work on  in order to make your speech better. I accept all criticism, whether  it’s good or bad. It’s to give you ideas on what should be worked on to  make something the way it should be. Thank you for this week’s  discussion. I really enjoyed it.

Nursing Core Competencies

Introduction:

The major assignment in this course is a Professional Nursing Paper focusing on core competencies that are essential for nursing practice. These Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies (NOFNCC) as discussed in Chapter 1 of the textbook* were developed after an extensive review of competency based education, current practice and educational standards, projected healthcare needs, and current literature (Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, 2010). The NOFNCC were designed to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, patient-centered care by nurses with diverse levels of education in all patient care settings (Fater, Weatherford, Ready, Finn & Tangney, 2014).

Paper Focus:

The purpose of this assignment is for NUR 3825 students to research NOFNCC as they relate to a chosen clinical area. Compare and contrast 3 of the NOFNCC as each relates to the responsibilities, opportunities, and expectations of the BSN in the clinical area after the degree is earned.

Requirements:

This paper will evidence student competency in developing and writing a professional nursing paper to include:

  • APA format – use 6th APA Style textbook, resources listed under the APA/ Writing Center tab on CANVAS, and others you may find that support your success

Question:

Please answer each of the following questions in detail and provide examples for better clarity, wherever applicable. Provide in-text citations.

Figure 1 shows a typical composition of neurons in a net. This discussion questions aimed at learning how natural composition of neural nets can be mimicked to derive algorithms that can provide prediction at higher levels of complexity.

1. Consider a multiple regression model of your choice containing two predictors. Calculate the values of the regression equation with a range chosen by you for the values of the predictors. Provide the graph of the regression equation which is a plane.

2. Augment your regression model by a sigmoid posterior filter. Calculate the values of the regression equation within the range chosen in part 1. Provide the graph of the regression equation, which will be a sigmoidal surface. Show that this graph cannot have a local extremum.

3. Now, add another regression model with sigmoid posterior containing the same two predictors in the previous part. Repeat parts 1 and 2 for this new regression model.

4. Now consider a model of a neural net, which has two parallel hidden layers, which are the two regression models considered above. The output of the net is simply the superposition of the two regression models. Show that by proper choice of the parameters you can have an output, which has a local extremum within the choice for the range of the values of the predictor. Provide the graph of the regression equation.

5. How does this observation indicate an application of neural networks modeling in practice?

Procedural Law and the Bill of Rights

Assignment 1: Procedural Law and the Bill of Rights  Due Week 4 and worth 200 points  The Bill of Rights finds its roots in documents such as the British Magna Carta of 1215 AD. It was one of the first documents that provided the common man independence from a monarch. It did imply that the federal government’s law dominated all others; however, it gave each state control of any laws outside of those reserved to the federal government. The Bill of Rights acts as a blueprint that every individual state uses to protect the rights of individual citizens. In this assignment, you will utilize the various concepts found in the Bill of Rights to provide the foundation of the various sections of the question.  Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you: 1.Compare and contrast two (2) of the sources of rights and fundamental principles found in the United States’ legal system as outlined by the text.. 2.Critically analyze and discuss two (2) steps of the criminal justice process from arrest to imprisonment.. 3.Identify and discuss the particular amendment related to arrest, search and seizures.. 4.Compare and contrast the concepts of probable cause and reasonable suspicion. In your own words, explain how they are similar or different.. 5.Examine and discuss the two (2) examples in which the exclusionary rule may not apply.. 6.Identify and discuss one (1) contemporary issue or case law related to the use of force. . 7.Use at least four (4) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources..

indiviual case study- case 3 an inconvient hr challenge

This is the case study i used from week 4

As the hospital administrator for Forest Glenn Medical Center, you oversee human resources functions for the medical center. Recently, within the outpatient medical team, three of the five doctors have submitted resignation letters effective immediately. You recognize that this presents a big problem because the outpatient medical team is a high-performance area in the medical center and cannot function with two full-time physicians alone. You immediately organize a meeting with the director of the outpatient medical team, Dr. Caron, to determine why these physicians are so determined to resign immediately. You meet with Dr. Caron and he states that he is just as surprised as you are that three of his team members have decided to leave suddenly. He is at a complete loss as to why they have decided to leave. After meeting with Dr. Caron, you decide to set up individual meetings with the three physicians, Dr. Lowe, Dr. Howell, and Dr. Cardenas, to process and discuss their resignations. Upon meeting with Dr. Lowe and his purpose for resigning, he states, “I just could not continue working for a tyrannical leader like Dr. Caron. While I love providing care to our patients and working for Forest Glenn, I cannot live up to the standards that Dr. Caron wants. Nor does he even let me try.” You decide to delve a little deeper into this complaint and mention to Dr. Lowe that there is a process in place to submit complaints for a hostile work environment. He states that he did not want to get anyone in trouble, and that he would rather find employment elsewhere. You then meet with Dr. Howell and Dr. Cardenas, who appear to corroborate with Dr. Lowe’s reasoning on resigning from Forest Glenn. You approach them with the possibility of talking to Dr. Caron about these complaints and whether they would be willing to stay while you search for suitable replacements if the hostile work environment is alleviated. Both Dr. Howell and Cardenas agree that they would be willing to stay for two months while you address the issues with Dr. Caron in the outpatient medical team. You immediately schedule a meeting with Dr. Caron to discuss the complaints and to initiate necessary steps for the establishment of a productive and effective work environment.

These are instructions for week 9 based on case study from week 4

As you collaborate with your group, individually select one of the following leadership roles that would respond during this outbreak:

  • Director, FEMA
  • Director, CDC
  • Governor of an afflicted state
  • Incident Response Commander
  • Response Leader, American Red Cross (or other nongovernmental organization)
  • Health Care Administrator for a large medical center

After selecting your leadership role, use a systems approach to work with your group to establish immediate response in preventing another pandemic.

The Assignment—Part 1:

Individual Case Analysis (1–2 pages):

Based on the leadership role you selected for the Assignment, include the following:

  • A summary of the leadership challenges this leader would face in assuring the system changes necessary to be prepared for the next outbreak, epidemic, or pandemic
  • An explanation of how your leadership challenges as this leader relate to challenges of the other leaders listed above

Note: The leadership challenges that you describe should be those you would face as an individual in the role of your selected leader, rather than the functional challenges of the agency this individual leads.

The Assignment—Part 2:

Group Case Study Analysis (2–3 pages):

Then, using your leadership Assignment for the Case Study, collaborate with your colleagues to create a Group Case Study Analysis that includes:

  • An explanation of how the challenges identified in the individual case analyses collectively affect crisis response by the system and the individuals within it
  • An explanation of how transformational and transactional leaders might influence outcomes within this case
  • A summary of how poor leadership might affect the outcome of the case

I think the greatest challenges to health care lies in resilience. When I think of the word resilience , “bouncing back or recovering” comes to mind. According to the text resilience is a measure of a systems ability to survive and persist within a variable environment (Meadows, 2008, Chapter 3).

What makes resilience challenging in health care entities is that they must be ready to prepare, respond and implement change when sudden disruptions occur. This requires a lot of planning and framework. Resilient systems go through highs and lows, oscillation and even outbreaks and for some it is even the normal condition but during this time is where resilience actively works to start restoring.

In some cases, it may also be difficult to notice the resilience because it’s not measurable by something you can see like static stability, which is measured by deviations weekly or yearly. As a result of that organizations often sacrifice resilience for stability, productivity, or another recognizable systems . (Meadows, 2008, Chapter 3).

Scenario

You have received your master’s degree and now have a job in your field. Your boss has encouraged you to do research on a topic in your field and write a scholarly paper for publication. You remember that you took a graduate course in Research and Writing, in which you already did some work on a research question you have always been interested in. This will be an opportunity for you to pursue that research question in more detail and put everything together in a scholarly paper.

Instructions

Create a research question you are interested in, conduct the research to answer that question, and write a complete scholarly paper on your question. This paper should contain the following sections:

  • An introductory section that explains your research question, your purpose, and how your paper fills a deficiency or gap in the research. Also explain any limitations to your study and how you dealt with any potential ethical issues.
  • A section reviewing the current literature on this topic. This section should discuss as least five relevant and current articles related to your research question.
  • A section on the methods you followed to perform your research.
  • A section on data collection and analysis.
  • A section that details your findings.
  • A concluding section that evaluates the usefulness of your study and any practical implications it has
