Describe an example of one of these groups in the United States or from another country. Explain why the population is designated as “vulnerable.

 3 DQ 1

Vulnerable groups are people who are at high risk for poor health status and healthcare access, who undergo significant disparities in life expectancy and have limited access to healthcare services. This population is also likely to have 1 or more physical and/or mental health conditions.

According to WHO, vulnerable populations include; the uninsured, pregnant women, pediatric groups, malnourished people, children, the homeless, people with HIV/AIDS, racial and ethnic minorities, economically disadvantaged, and people with chronic health conditions.

An example of one of these groups in the United States or from another country.

  • In the US, older adults are more vulnerable to health issues

Explain why the population is designated as “vulnerable.” Include the number of individuals belonging to this group and the specific challenges or issues involved.

  • Because they have low immunity and a lot of medical conditions. A study found that the elderly don’t frequently receive the care recommended for them, such as preventive care, and thus end up being vulnerable. The number of older adults who are aged 65 or older. is 14.5% (46.3 million) of the US population. The challenges they face include isolation in their homes, failure to afford healthcare services, and difficulties while getting access to healthcare services.

Discuss why these populations are unable to advocate for themselves, the ethical issues that must be considered when working with these groups, and how nursing advocacy would be beneficial.

  • The elderly are unable to advocate for themselves because they are old, they can be easily controlled and economically unstable, and thus nobody minds about them even if they serve as their own advocates.
  • The ethical issues include; protecting their rights and human dignity, providing care with possible risk to their own health, informed consent, staffing patterns that limit their access to nursing care, and the use of physical restraints.
  • Nursing advocacy would help our aging population to save themselves a lot of time, money, as well as help in minimizing stress levels. They place an emphasis on the patient’s health and general well-being and therefore improving their health condition.
  • Using 200-300 words APA format with references to support the discussion.

Include the number of individuals belonging to this group and the specific challenges or issues involved. Discuss why these populations are unable to advocate for themselves, the ethical issues that must be considered when working with these groups, and how nursing advocacy would be beneficial.

Your speaker notes – are for you – pretend you are giving this presentation to an 1,100 person audience. They need to be able to See to Read what is on your slides – so only include a few bullet points of info on each slide and the information that supports the slides — your “cheat notes” to help you delivery your presentation – all of the content in full sentences, written in your own words – belongs in the speakers notes section.
In our class for Wk3 and Wk5 speakers notes for each Power Point Presentation is a requirement!
Speaker notes help you remember what to say when you present.
      Add speaker notes
Slides work best when you don’t cram too much information (especially too much text) onto them.
Keep the text to a minimum and put the extra stuff in the speaker notes section, out of your audience’s sight. Then, refer to your notes while you give the presentation.

    1. Open the notes pane by clicking NOTES at the bottom of the window.
    2. Click in the notes pane below the slide, and enter your notes.

 Discussion 2 – Week 1COLLAPSEMotivations of Terrorists

What motivates a man like Osama Bin Laden to encourage the use of indiscriminate violence to further his political objectives? How, if at all, do his motivations differ from those of terrorists of a previous generation, such as Carlos the Jackal? Although it is common, even stereotypical, to consider terrorists as all having similar view points, in most cases they are distinctly different. Goals and motivations vary at the organizational and individual levels. Socialization, revenge, and perceived injustice are all possible motivations, but, like causes of terrorism, there is no single explanation behind each act.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Course Introduction, located on the navigation bar on the left. Keep this overview in mind as you work through each week of the course.
  • Review Chapter 1 in the course text Terrorism in Perspective. Reflect on the motivations of terrorists.
  • Review Chapter 4 in the course text Introduction to Homeland Security: Understanding Terrorism with an Emergency Management Perspective and the assigned pages of Chapters 3 and 7 in the course text Terrorism in Perspective. Reflect on motivations of specific terrorists.
  • Select a terrorist to use for this assignment. You may select any individuals mentioned in the Learning Resources, the FBI “Most Wanted Terrorists” website: http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/terrorists/fugitives.htm, or another of your choosing. Note: Do not choose Osama Bin Laden.
  • Using the Learning Resources, Walden’s Library, and/or the Internet, research the motivations of the terrorist you selected.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 4 a brief description of the terrorist you selected. Then explain the motivations of the terrorist. Be specific and use examples to illustrate your explanation.

Note: Put the name of the terrorist you selected in the first line of your post. You will be asked to respond to a colleague who selected a terrorist that you did not.

To start this assignment, complete the Generating Search Terms downloadworksheet. The Generating Search Terms worksheet will help you select the major concepts in your revised research question. Note: You will not submit this worksheet, but will need it for Step 2.

Find Two Scholarly Journal Articles and One E-Book

Now you are ready to search for scholarly journal articles and one e-book. Review the steps for using [email protected] by completing the GEN 103: Introduction to the UAGC Library (Links to an external site.) tutorial.

  • Consult with University of Arizona Global Campus Library Tutoring to find relevant search results. You will select your first scholarly journal article from these results. Please note you must access the session from your course. Review the Accessing Library Tutoring with TutorMe (Links to an external site.) tip sheet for help connecting with a librarian.
    • Bring your revised research question and two to five search terms to the library tutoring session.
    • Once the library tutoring session ends, a lesson summary of your session will be sent to the e-mail address you’ve provided. You will include the lesson summary as part of the assignment. Please note a library tutoring session needs to last at least five minutes to receive a summary.
    • Download and save the full text article so you can review it later.
  • Use [email protected] and the skills you learned in your session to locate your second scholarly journal article. Download and save the full text article so you can review it later.
  • Use your search terms and the University of Arizona Global Campus Library EBook Central database to find one e-book that relates to your research question. Watch the Ebook Central Overview and Searching (Links to an external site.) video for help with using this database.
  • For each source, make note of the information you need to construct references and locate each source again.

Construct APA References for These Sources

Remembering what you learned about how to format references in the APA Skill Activity, construct APA references for your sources. Write those references in the Library Sources Annotated Bibliography downloadtemplate. Check your reference format using the Writing Center’s Formatting Your References List (Links to an external site.) to ensure they are correct.

Write Annotations for These Sources

Now, you will write annotations for the two scholarly articles and one e-book. Write the annotations in your own words on the Library Sources Annotated Bibliography template. The annotations must be two paragraphs long and must address the points below. Provide brief descriptions or explanations to support your answers:

Paragraph 1: Summarize

Carefully review the Grading Rubric (Links to an external site.) for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

Discussion: Understanding the Purposes of Evaluation and Identifying Stakeholders

A stakeholder is “any person, community, or organization with a vested interest in a program; e.g., decision makers, partners, clients.” (McKenzie, 2017, page 11) Stakeholders are more than just people who participate in the program; they are decision makers, implementers, partners, and other people who impact or are impacted by the program.

In this Discussion, you will analyze different examples of health programs that have been evaluated and published. You will identify the stakeholders for the example programs and determine which purposes of evaluation apply.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the CDC’s Framework for Program Evaluation. Reflect on the steps and standards related to engaging stakeholders.
  • Review the six purposes of evaluation in the McKenzie, Neiger, and Thackeray text. Think about which purposes apply to the example public health programs and why they are important.
  • Review the Week 1 Health Program Articles (in the Learning Resources) and select one health program to address.
  • Imagine who the stakeholders might be for your selected program. If the abstract does not list stakeholders specifically, you can suggest who might have been involved.
  • Think about potential stakeholder expectations and how those expectations may influence the purposes of program evaluation.
  • Review the Course Project Guidelines (in the Learning Resources).

With these thoughts in mind:

By Day 4

Post a comprehensive response to the following:

  • Indicate which of the Health Program Articles you chose (see the Learning Resources).
  • List the stakeholders within each of the following roles:
    • Those involved in program operations
    • Those served or affected by the program
    • The primary users of the evaluation results
  • Explain what different stakeholders may expect from the evaluation.
  • Explain which of the six purposes of evaluation apply to the published program that you selected.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.

Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings.
