Blended Learning

Chapter 7 of our textbook describes how technology continues to be a strong presence in our classrooms, especially with e-learning. Schools are finding that technology has provided teachers with the ability to individualize instruction; therefore, it can be a great learning tool to enhance instruction and motivate students. As future educators, you will be expected to integrate the use of technology into your classroom lessons. Many schools are turning to blended learning classrooms in which students can learn in both face-to-face and online formats.

View the following videos below for an overview of blended learning:

In a two- to three-page paper (not including title and reference pages), address these conditions:

  1. Outline the different types of blended learning.
  2. Explain which theories inform blended learning.
  3. Identify the advantages and disadvantages of blended learning.
  4. Use at least three scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook, to support your response. You may cite web articles, peer-reviewed scholarly articles, your own experience, and/or interviews with classroom teachers.
  5. Explain how blended learning is changing your role as an educator.
  6. Select two of the following Webtools: Edmodo, Twitter, Facebook, Storybird, Voicethread, Google Docs, Diigo, or TodaysMeet. Conduct an internet search to find out more about these Webtools and discuss how you might use your selected Webtools in the classroom to create your blended learning environment.

Be sure to provide an introduction and conclusion to your paper and properly cite and reference your sources using APA format.

Special Cases in Coaching SLP 4

Share Your Leadership Growth Plan

Background

Now that you have created a plan it is time to share it with your supervisor, get some feedback, and ask for his or her help in putting it into action.  You may do this by setting up a meeting with your supervisor or mentor (if you have one) and making a presentation based on all of the work you have done in this SLP. At the end of your presentation, you should have a discussion with your supervisor as to implementing the plan and receiving the resources you will need.

Assignment Instructions

For the purpose of this assignment, you will be creating a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation with a voiceover that you will submit to the professor by the end of the module. This PowerPoint should contain all of the elements of your plan and how you would present it to your supervisor and/or mentor.  It should contain the following elements:

  • A personal assessment:  Your values, leadership style, motivators, and competencies
  • A personal vision statement
  • Any obstacles you have identified to achieving your vision
  • Personal goals
  • Your action plan

Keys to the Assignment

  • Update any information that has changed or received further consideration as the course progressed.
  • Prepare a voiceover explaining the process by which you developed your plan.
  • Explain the slides, do not just read them.

SLP Assignment Expectations

  • The length of the presentation should not exceed 15 minutes.
  • Include cover and reference slides in addition to the other slides described in the instructions.
  • Your presentation should have an introduction explaining how the plan was prepared and a conclusion indicating next steps.
  • Include a slide asking for feedback from your supervisor/mentor.
  • Use headings to indicate major sections of the report.
  • Cite and reference any outside sources.
  • Use APA formatting.

Communication Study

This paper deals with gender from your own unique perspective and experience. Think about your performance of gender generally or in a specific context.  Then discuss and analyze this performance from a theoretical perspective.

Start with a thesis

You need a clear thesis statement in your introduction to give the paper focus and direction.  Please underline your thesis so I can clearly identify it.  Here are a few examples of thesis statements, but be sure to develop your own:

The absence a father figure led me to actively seek out masculine models in hopes of learning masculinity.

My traditional culture compels me to act hyper-masculine even in a changing world.

Helping to raise my three siblings developed my competency with traditional feminine roles.

My gender shifts further away from conventional femininity as I expand into androgyny through the performance of music.

Body of the paper

Do not write a general account of your life or childhood.  Instead, the body should be limited to material advancing your thesis.  1] First, give an account of your experience using relevant details of events, concrete observations, messages communicated, statements made, etc.  2] Second, apply a course theory to your experience.

Please keep the body organized…this is not a stream-of-consciousness journal entry.  I’d recommend outlining your paper before you write it.

Conclusion

End with an insightful or evaluative conclusion.  What critical questions does your experience raise?  How does your experience shed light on the nature of gender?  Family systems?  Parenting?  How is your chosen theory useful?  Etc.

**Note the following technical requirements.**  Erring from these will affect your grade:

– Length must be 5 pages (5 FULL pages minimum – 5 ½ pages maximum).

– Use TNR 12 font and standard margins.

– Double-space.

– Proofread for spelling and grammar.

– Submit on Canvas in .doc or .pdf form

ANLY600

250 words

Microsoft is an active player in cloud analytics with its Azure Machine Learning Studio and Stream Analytics. Azure works with Hadoop clusters as well as with traditional relational databases. Azure ML offers a broad range of algorithms such as boosted trees and support vector machines as well as supporting R scripts and Python. Azure ML also supports a workflow interface making it more suitable for the nonprogrammer data scientist. The real-time analytics component is designed to allow streaming data from a variety of sources to be analyzed on the fly. XLMiner’s cloud version is based on Microsoft Azure. Microsoft also acquired Revolution Analytics, a major player in the R analytics business, with a view to integrating Revolution’s “R Enterprise” with SQL Server and Azure ML. R Enterprise includes extensions to R that eliminate memory limitations and take advantage of parallel processing. One drawback of the cloud-based analytics tools is a relative lack of transparency and user control over the algorithms and their parameters. In some cases, the service will simply select a single model that is a black box to the user. Another drawback is that for the most part cloud-based tools are aimed at more sophisticated data scientists who are systems savvy. Data science is playing a central role in enabling many organizations to optimize everything from production to marketing. New storage options and analytical tools promise even greater capabilities. The key is to select technology that’s appropriate for an organization’s unique goals and constraints. As always, human judgment is the most important component of a data mining solution.

This focus is on a comprehensive understanding of the different techniques and algorithms used in data mining, and less on the data management requirements of real-time deployment of data mining models. XLMiner’s short learning curve and integration with Excel makes it ideal for this purpose, and for exploration, prototyping, and piloting of solutions.

(by Herb Edelstein) page 45 in Data Mining for Business Analytics: Concepts, Techniques, and Applications in R

Answer the following questions:

1. Choose three to five software which you think are most popular and useful in Data mining and comment one their pros and cons?!

2. What are the pros and cons of Cloud-based analytics?

3. Why using R for this data mining course is a good option?

Be sure to address each point in your main post. Also, be sure to illustrate with an example (e.g., if you think clustering is relevant, describe what you think a likely cluster might contain and what the real-world meaning would be).

Unit 4 Discussion – Am I Normal?

Unit 4 Discussion – Am I Normal?

Instructions:

The average height for all males is 69.3 inches, with a standard deviation of 2.8 inches. For females, the average height is 64 inches, and the standard deviation is 2.8.  These are population values. For this week’s discussion, you will calculate a z-score based on your own height and determine whether your score is within the 95% normal range or if it is out of that range and considered unusual.

  • Measure your height as precisely as possible to a tenth of an inch. For example, 5’2 ¼” would be 62.3 inches tall.
  • Calculate the z-score based on population values for males or females.  Use the formula:  z= (x-µ)/σ where x is your height in inches.
  • Calculate the normal range by creating the interval that is within 2 standard deviations of the population mean.  Multiply the population standard deviation by 2 and then add/subtract from the population mean.

In your discussion post, include the following, based on your calculations.

  • Is your height within the normal range?  Is this what you expected?
  • Would your height be considered unusual?  Why or why not.
  • Have you encountered any challenges based on your height?  For example, someone who is shorter or taller may have difficulty finding pants that are an appropriate length.
  • How is the concept of normality used in your field?  For example, a patient’s blood pressure is compared to a normal range of values, and a financial planner may check the “average” return of a stock.
  • How does knowing what is usual help people and corporations and government organizations plan?  For example, how do airplane manufacturers use the normal height to design aircraft seating?

Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.
