Check the question

Complete ALL of the bullet points below:

Compare and contrast each of the three questions related to Managed Care Organizations, Medicare, and Medicaid with one another and explain how they were similar and different to each other.

  • Managed care organizations emphasize physicians’ responsibilities to control patient access to expensive hospitalization and specialty care, a principle dubbed “gatekeeping.” Some argue that “gatekeeping” is unethical because it introduces financial factors into treatment decisions. Others say it improves quality by promoting the use of the most appropriate levels of care.
  • Medicare is an area that often gets overlooked and is seen as a burden financially. Discuss alternatives to ease the drain on Medicare resources.
  • Medicaid is shouldering an ever-increasing burden of cost for long-term care for the elderly, with enormous impacts on state budgets throughout the nation. Discuss alternatives to ease this drain on Medicaid resources.

Assignment: Evidence-Based Project

Assignment: Evidence-Based Project, Part 1: Identifying Research Methodologies

Is there a difference between “common practice” and “best practice”?

When you first went to work for your current organization, experienced colleagues may have shared with you details about processes and procedures. Perhaps you even attended an orientation session to brief you on these matters. As a “rookie,” you likely kept the nature of your questions to those with answers that would best help you perform your new role.

Over time and with experience, perhaps you recognized aspects of these processes and procedures that you wanted to question further. This is the realm of clinical inquiry.

Clinical inquiry is the practice of asking questions about clinical practice. To continuously improve patient care, all nurses should consistently use clinical inquiry to question why they are doing something the way they are doing it. Do they know why it is done this way, or is it just because we have always done it this way? Is it a common practice or a best practice?

In this Assignment, you will identify clinical areas of interest and inquiry and practice searching for research in support of maintaining or changing these practices. You will also analyze this research to compare research methodologies employed.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can form the basis of a clinical inquiry. Keep in mind that the clinical issue you identify for your research will stay the same for the entire course.
  • Based on the clinical issue of interest and using keywords related to the clinical issue of interest, search at least four different databases in the Walden Library to identify at least four relevant peer-reviewed articles related to your clinical issue of interest.      You should not be using systematic reviews for this assignment, select original research articles.
  • Review the results of your peer-reviewed research and reflect on the process of using an unfiltered database to search for peer-reviewed research.
  • Reflect on the types of research methodologies contained in the four relevant peer-reviewed articles you selected.

Part 1: Identifying Research Methodologies

After reading each of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected, use the Matrix Worksheet template to analyze the methodologies applied in each of the four peer-reviewed articles. Your analysis should include the following:

  • The full citation of each peer-reviewed article in APA format.
  • A brief (2-paragraph) statement explaining why you chose this peer-reviewed article and/or how it relates to your clinical issue of interest, including a brief explanation of the ethics of research related to your clinical issue of interest.
  • A brief (2 paragraph) description of the aims of the research of each peer-reviewed article.
  • A brief (2 paragraph) description of the research methodology used. Be sure to identify if the methodology used was qualitative, quantitative, or a mixed-methods approach. Be specific.
  • A brief (2-paragraph) description of the strengths of each of the research methodologies used, including reliability and validity of how the methodology was applied in each of the peer-reviewed articles you selected.

Part 2: Advanced Levels of Clinical Inquiry and Systematic Reviews

Your quest to purchase a new car begins with an identification of the factors important to you. As you conduct a search of cars that rate high on those factors, you collect evidence and try to understand the extent of that evidence. A report that suggests a certain make and model of automobile has high mileage is encouraging. But who produced that report? How valid is it? How was the data collected, and what was the sample size?

In this Assignment, you will delve deeper into clinical inquiry by closely examining your PICO(T) question. You also begin to analyze the evidence you have collected.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can form the basis of a clinical inquiry.
  • Develop a PICO(T) question to address the clinical issue of interest you identified in Module 2 for the Assignment. This      PICOT question will remain the same for the entire course.
  • Use the keywords from the PICO(T) question you developed and search at least four different databases in the Walden      Library. Identify at least four relevant systematic reviews or other filtered high-level evidence, which includes meta-analyses, critically-appraised topics (evidence syntheses), critically-appraised individual articles      (article synopses). The evidence will not necessarily address all the elements of your PICO(T) question, so select the most important concepts to search and find the best evidence available.
  • Reflect on the process of creating a PICO(T) question and searching for peer-reviewed research.

The Assignment (Evidence-Based Project)

Part 2: Advanced Levels of Clinical Inquiry and Systematic Reviews

Create a 7-8-slide PowerPoint presentation in which you do the following:

  • Identify and briefly describe your chosen clinical      issue of interest.
  • Describe how you developed a PICO(T) question focused on your chosen clinical issue of interest.
  • Identify the four research databases that you used to conduct your search for the peer-reviewed articles you selected.
  • Provide APA citations of the four relevant peer-reviewed articles at the systematic-reviews level related to your research question. If there are no systematic review level articles or meta-analysis on your topic, then use the highest level of evidence peer-reviewed article.
  • Describe the levels of evidence in each of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected, including an explanation of the strengths of using systematic reviews for clinical research. Be specific and provide examples.

3pages essay

How Will I Apply What I Learned in this Post-1492 World?

Purpose: This essay is an opportunity for you to reveal your ability to read a text and think critically. Doing so requires careful use of close reading and critical analysis. You will reveal your knowledge of the subject before presenting your own viewpoint of this topic.

Texts:

  • Select as many works from this semester’s multi-modal texts as you wish

Topic: As we have discussed this semester, the creation of races was an intentional project that resulted from the European Enlightenment and its philosophical, artistic, and scientific communities. The various forms of violence perpetrated against the oppressed by whiteness expose the horrors of living in a world of white supremacy domination, especially for indigenous, Black, and brown communities. Our thinkers this semester, use various forms of resistance to combat and deal with the violence of whiteness. Using the texts of your choice, what insights or ideas and observations impacted you the most? This doesn’t mean you agree or disagree with the authors and filmmakers we analyzed this semester, but more so, what are some takeaways from the texts for you?

Writing Task

In a well-developed, thesis-driven essay of 2-3 pages (500-750 words) using our final texts in this unit as well as our class discussions and lectures, respond to the following prompt:

Using the texts of your choice, what insights or ideas and observations impacted you the most? What are some of the ways YOU can use the ideas and theories you learned in this class in this post-1492 world? You may use first-person narration (“I” statements) and please try to be as specific as possible. For example, “I will use the idea that I must always consider Black liberation in my own struggle for liberation…..”

Paper Requirements

Your essay should convince the reader that the claim you make (your thesis) is an arguable one, not simply a statement of fact.

  • Be sure to support your claim with quotes (textual evidence) from the text.
  • Papers must be 2-3 pages and follow MLA format: typed, double-spaced, 12 pt., Times New Roman font with 1” margins and left-alignment.

Module 06 Capstone Portfolio Assignment – Transferable Skills Reflection Assignment

Throughout your education, you have been asked to research topics and write papers, engage in thought-provoking discussions, consider diverse perspectives, and a host of other challenges that have required you to use both your discipline-specific skills as well as your soft skills. These are called transferable skills, and are skills that you develop that can be transferred and applied within your chosen career. Transferable skills are highly valuable and essential for career success.

Throughout this course, you have been working on a project that allowed you to demonstrate your understanding of the transferable skills. It is now time to submit your project/assignment and add a transferable skills reflection.

To complete this assignment, you will need to do the following:

Part I: Compiling Your Exemplar Project

  • Compile all of your completed course project assignment deliverables. Place them in the proper order, and save them in a single Microsoft Word document.

Part II: Transferable Skills Self Reflection

  1. In a minimum of 1 full page, using Microsoft Word, write an essay (full introduction and conclusion), which includes the following:
    • Describe the knowledge, skills and/or attitudes regarding each of the transferable skills that you’ve gained as a result of completing this particular project/assignment.
    • Discuss the ways that you are going to incorporate the transferable skills (the transferable skills that you showcased in your exemplary project) into your work within your chosen career field.
    • Describe your future goals based on the transferable skills that you’ve chosen to showcase.
    • Write your paper utilizing proper tone, spelling and grammar.
  2. Once you have completed your reflection assignment, add it to the end of the document you compiled in part I. The self-reflection should be the last few pages of your exemplar project. If done correctly, everything will be one document!
  3. Save the compiled document to a folder. Then, zip or compress the folder, and submit the zipped folder to the drop box.

Instructions: Definition Paper

ASSIGNMENT
define your theme. Remember that your theme is the idea you have chosen to work with over the course of the semester. If your theme is “nature,” this paper will present a definition of “nature.” If your theme is “justice,” this paper will present a definition of “justice.” See “Theme Suggestions” document posted in Canvas for possible themes.

the theme for this paper is education

details should be discussed in greater details with selected writers

Your paper should provide an encyclopedic discussion of your theme that moves readers’ understanding of your theme beyond the obvious. Your paper should be thought-provoking; the best definition papers teach readers something new about a term or invite additional discussion about a term.

This paper must focus on providing a definition. Your thesis statement should present a definition.

Your paper should include:

1. An introductory paragraph and thesis statement that identify the theme and provide an original definition of that theme, respectively. Your thesis statement should attempt to synthesize various definitions of the theme that already exist within scholarship. To synthesize means to combine various ideas into a new, single idea. The thesis statement should be a single sentence and should appear at the end of the introductory paragraph.

2. Body paragraphs that provide context for your definition, contain facts and examples, and combine research and reasoning to provide support for your thesis statement. Most good body paragraphs include a topic sentence, some of the author’s own ideas/analysis, some evidence, and a conclusion sentence that “finishes” the paragraph and reiterates the main point of the paragraph.

3. Topic and transitional sentences between paragraphs. You may use headings between different sections of the paper, but headings are not required for this assignment.

4. A conclusion paragraph and correctly formatted APA References page.

5. In-text citations.

6. A correctly formatted APA title page, including a paper title and a running header. An abstract is not required.

GOALS OF THE ASSIGNMENT

1. Analyze an assignment prompt and develop a strategy for responding to the prompt;

2. Craft an effective thesis statement that provides focus for an academic paper;

3. Use writing to show evidence of critical thinking;

Analysis debate 2

  • Debate This: Personal Bankruptcy
  • Chapter 26 p. 631

Three months ago, Janet Hart’s husband of twenty years died of cancer. Although he had medical insurance, he left Janet with outstanding medical bills of more than $50,000. Janet has worked at the local library for the past ten years, earning $1,500 per month. Since her husband’s death, Janet also has received $1,500 in Social Security benefits and $1,100 in life insurance proceeds every month, giving her a monthly income of $4,100. After she pays the mortgage payment of $1,500 and the amounts due on other debts each month, Janet barely has enough left over to buy groceries for her family (she has two teenage daughters at home). She decides to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, hoping for a fresh start. Using the information provided in the chapter, answer the following questions.

  1. Under the Bankruptcy Code after the reform act, what must Janet do before filing a petition for relief under Chapter 7?
  2. How much time does Janet have after filing the bankruptcy petition to submit the required sched-ules? What happens if Janet does not meet the deadline?
  3. Assume that Janet files a petition under Chapter 7. Further assume that the median family income in the state in which Janet lives is $49,300. What steps would a court take to determine whether Janet’s petition is presumed to be substantial abuse under the means test?
  4. Suppose the court determines that no presumption of substantial abuse applies in Janet’s case. Nevertheless, the court finds that Janet does have the ability to pay at least a portion of the medical bills out of her disposable income. What would the court likely order in that situation?

Debate This:
Rather than being allowed to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions, individuals and couples should always be forced to make an effort to pay off their debts through Chapter 13.
