Interview a chaplain currently serving in the particular chaplaincy discipline in which you have chosen to focus your Research Paper. The interview may be conducted in person (preferable), by video communication, or by phone.  

There are three elements to this assignment as follows:

1. Locate a chaplain of your chosen field of chaplaincy to interview. It is preferable that the chaplain is interviewed face to face, in person or by telecommunications. As a last resort a telephone interview is permissible. All interviews, at a minimum, must be in realtime and include an auditory conversation. Email, text, and other non-verbal communications are not permitted. 

2. The interview should seek answers to the fifteen questions listed below, and seek answers to 5 additional questions the student develops. 

3. Following the interview, the student will write a 5 pg paper following standard essay Turabian format (Title Page, Table of Contents, Introduction, Body, Conclusion, Bibliography). The paper must identify the unique elements and peculiarities of the particular chaplaincy discipline. The paper should include several direct quotes from the chaplain interviewed, as well as the student’s summary of each of the questions. The paper should not be written as a verbatim, but rather an essay. Use subheadings and paragraphs to separate each question.

• What preparation did you       receive to qualify you for this chaplaincy discipline?

• What weaknesses do you       perceive in your chaplaincy discipline?
• What are your greatest       challenges serving as a chaplain within this discipline?
• What threats, concerns or       challenges do you perceive for evangelical chaplains in your chaplaincy       discipline?
• How effective do you perceive       your ministry efforts are within your chaplaincy discipline?
• How has your ministry as a       chaplain affected your personal and family life?

The paper must contain footnoted quotations and thoughts from the interviewee. 

The paper must be accomplished in current Turabian footnote citation style.

The paper’s Introduction must include the full name and position of the chaplain interviewed, as well as, the time, place, and means of communication (Face to Face, Video Telecommunication, Phone).

Applicable information and quotes from this paper will provide you with a first-hand primary source for Research Paper Part 5.

This assignment is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 6. 

For this assignment, you will put together a presentation of 12 slides minimum.

Your Presentation must do the following:

1.  Include a title slide, with your title, your name, class, and a visual that represents your topic choice. [1 slide]

2. Select a social problem of your choice, explain why it is a problem, and define the scope of this social problem (is it local, national, international, etc) [1 slide]

3. Explore the history of your social problem. Think about it has changed over time and what major milestones have impacted the problem. For example, if you are exploring racism, you will want to note major Civil Rights legislation, etc. [at least 2 slides]

3.    Next, analyze two major ways that the social problem chose currently impacts different groups of individuals. For example, if you are looking at drug use, you might analyze the impact of drug use on families and workplaces. It would be a great idea to include a chart of statistics here to support your points. [at least 2 slides]

4.   Define four concepts from our readings/materials that relate to your chosen social problem and analyze how these concepts help us better understand the social problem you are discussing. Some examples of concepts are ideas such as stratification, ethnicity, racism, sexism, and others as mentioned in our readings and materials (NOTE: these are just examples of concepts – they may NOT apply to your topic – you need to select concepts that apply to your own topic). 5.    Define one sociological theory from our readings/materials that relates to your chosen social problem and analyze how this theory helps us better understand the social problem you are discussing. Sociological theories include functionalism, conflict theory, feminist theory, symbolic interactionism, and others as mentioned in our readings and materials. [at least 1 slide]

6. Include full references in APA formatting. [at least 1 slide].

Exploration of Cultural Diversity Paper

Students will choose a novel listed below which explores some facet of cultural diversity. Students who wish to choose a novel not on this list must get prior permission from the instructor.

Read the novel and write a 4-6 page paper, which includes:

1) A brief description of a character in terms of age, personality, race, class, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, religious preferences and gender (only discuss what you know about the character). NOTE- this does NOT have to be the main character. Read the full guidelines here and then decide which character you want to write about. 

2) A description of the cultural identity of the character in terms of values, norms and beliefs. What shaped this identity? Did it change throughout the novel? How? (Give specific examples)

3) A description of the similarities and differences between you and the chose character in terms of human development, privileges/lack of privilege, values, customs, educational and vocational opportunity.

4) A discussion of the challenges that you would face in confronting your own biases, assumptions, values if this character were a client assigned to you. How would you confront those differences? Note: it is a sign of strength to recognize your biases, not a defect in character- we all have them… I won’t judge you!

5) A discussion of social work’s value, mission and ethics and how they would influence and shape your work with this character. 

6) Paper must be in APA format. Since this is not a research paper, you do not need to have in text citations or a bibliography, but the paper must be in APA format, which is 12 point font, 1 inch margins, Times New Roman, and double spaced. Do NOT include extra spaces between paragraphs. Pay close attention to grammar, punctuation and spelling. Use grammerly.com to check your paper, or go to the Writing Center. 

** Paper should be organized well. I would suggests using subheadings to identify sections. For example, before you answer each question create a heading for it, such as “Character Description” for number 1, and “Cultural Identity of Character” for number 2. Subtitles should be flush left and bold. Use paragraphs to separate different topics under discussion and INDENT your paragraphs.

In the fast-paced, evolving enterprise environment, there is a need to integrate systems, whether with recently acquired organizations or with the latest off-the-shelf technology. The challenge seems insurmountable without some formalized approaches, tools, techniques, and best practices to support the effort. You will select a manageable systems integration project so that you will have practice with all phases of the systems integration process, from determining enterprise integration requirements through the final implementation planning.

Project Selection

The first step will be to select an enterprise as the target for your systems integration project, along with a list of the major systems to be integrated within the target organization. This project will be used as the basis for each of the assignments throughout the course and should conform to the following guidelines:

• Nontrivial: The selected enterprise should be large enough to reflect the need to integrate systems.
• Domain knowledge: You should be familiar enough with the organization to allow you to focus on its system’s integration needs.

For the assignments in this course, you will be developing a comprehensive Systems Integration Design Proposal as your project. Your first task in this process will be to select an enterprise to use as the basis of your project. You will also create the shell document for the final project deliverable, which you will be working on during each unit.
