Quantitative Research Proposal

Quantitative Research Proposal

This assignment requires the elements of research to produce a logical and sequential representation of a research plan in a short sentence outline form. The research topic you select should be aligned with the overall topic of first-generation college students and resilience. The template for your outline has been provided for you. Select a sub-topic that is aligned with first year college students and resilience and create a quantitative research outline that underscores the research topic you are proposing. You may use additional scholarly sources to support the topic you select to demonstrate a need for the study you are proposing. Leave in the headings and subheadings provided.

You are creating your own subtopic to propose related to first generation college students. That could include anything from first generation college students and their experiences of supporting their own children going to college or first-generation college students and their experiences of feeling like they belong in college. It could focus on first generation college students in the workplace or first-generation college students and likelihood to persist in college.

Organizational Leadership Memo- USE PROVIDED MATERIALS

Case Scenario:

Mr. Barney, the CEO, has received your memo request to be considered for further leadership positions.  He has decided to put you to the test!  He assigns you to help his Director of Payroll, Loretta Cash with a problem.

You walk over to Payroll and visit Loretta.  She is visibly upset.  She has just received her annual performance review from her manager.  This is a 6-month review, as Loretta was recently assigned to this role after working with great success for 10 years in another area of the Accounting Department.  As part of this review, her manager interviewed the six members of the Payroll Department, who all answer to Loretta. Loretta shares with you some of their comments:

“Loretta marched in here thinking she knows everything.  She doesn’t want to listen to any of our ideas.  It’s her way or the highway.”

“We really don’t know Loretta all that well.  She keeps to herself…except of course when payroll deadlines are due, and then she’s all over our backs.”

“She acts as if she is perfect.  I’m scared of getting yelled at when I make a mistake.”

“Most times, Loretta is fine, but when we have a deadline she micromanages us.  I literally dread coming in to work on days payroll is due because I know Loretta will be watching over us like a hawk.”

Answer the following questions, and support your answers with the course materials:

What is the root cause of Loretta’s problem?

List three specific recommendations that Loretta can do today to turn this situation around.  Make sure the three recommendations are actionable (in other words, Loretta can take your advice and put it into practice immediately) and specific (in other words, not too general that it cannot be easily understood). For example, “improve communication skills” is not actionable today, and too general to be clearly understood.  However, “give immediate feedback to demonstrate she is actively listening” can be put into practice today and is specific enough to be understood. (Do not use this example in your answer!).

Completing the Learning Activity

Read the grading rubric for the project.  Use the grading rubric while completing the project to ensure all requirements are met that will lead to the highest possible grade.

Third person writing is required.  Third person means that there are no words such as “I, me, my, we, or us” (first person writing), nor is there use of “you or your” (second person writing).  If uncertain how to write in the third person, view this link:  http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person.

Contractions are not used in business writing, so do not use them.

Paraphrase and do not use direct quotation marks.  Paraphrase means you do not use more than four consecutive words from a source document, but put a passage from a source document into your own words and attribute the passage to the source document.  Not using direct quotation marks means that there should be no passages with quotation marks and instead the source material is paraphrased as stated above.

Provide the page or paragraph number when using in-text citations.  Note that a reference within a reference list cannot exist without an associated in-text citation and vice versa.

ERD vaariables

There is a use case associated with  the assignment. You need to incorporate ALL requirements into the ERD,  not just some components into the ERD Diagram. There are various  examples that I have provided throughout the semester. I have pointed to  another one so you know what I am explicitly expecting to see.

About the ERD Diagram

Deliverables

  • An ERD Diagram (PDF File ONLY)
  • A Word / PDF Document that  describes exactly what is in your ERD. This helps me make sure you know  what you modeled! Also, on that document, please tell me who did what  for the assignment.
  • Please provide me example screen  shots to a working prototype of your database and/or access to the  database. Make the dataset realistic, not scrap data. I will need to  have access to the database if that is your preferred option until  December 11, 2020 at 11:59pm EST unless I ask otherwise.

MGMT690 UNIT1 DB#2

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 600–800 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas..

As the firm looks for ways to offset the domestic downturn in sales, Deborah, the CEO of your company, wants to determine if a global strategy is a good fit for the organization.  She has designated you as the manager for this project.  You will work with your team to develop a global marketing plan for your organization.

You begin your research in deciding if and what the global strategy should be. You get your team together and begin to discuss a plan on how you will research this possibility.

You start the meeting by saying “Let’s brainstorm and start to get a plan together for a possible globalization strategy. Tiffany, I’d like you work with me to begin researching possible locations.”

Tiffany says, “I think we need to research some locations, but I think there is more to it than that. There still needs to be a decision on the type of strategy or approach we are taking. Would we use a multidomestic approach, a global approach, or a transnational approach? I’m still not entirely convinced a global strategy is the answer.”

“Great point, Tiffany. It is obvious to me as well that we need to explore a strategy that will put us in a better position to handle the economic downturn. We have to provide the board with the facts. They seem to be leaning in the direction of a global strategy, but I’m not sure it’s the right move either. That’s why we need to do research.”

Domestic profit margins have dropped by 2% this quarter. You wonder how you and your team can help fix this. Is a global strategy the answer, or should the company continue to focus on the domestic market?

You call a team meeting to learn about the progress of their research.

Tiffany, one of your team members, begins the discussion. “I think we need to look at some of the internal factors,” she says. “We know what our capabilities are on the domestic front, but what about in the global market? We have a fairly strong market presence here in higher-end markets, but how does that translate globally?”

Discuss the following:

  • How do you define a global strategy? Compare and contrast global strategy with other international expansion strategies.
  • Identify a minimum of 3 possible countries for globalization. Research each of these locations in the furniture industry, and document both the pros and cons of using these in global strategy.
  • What country would you choose? What evidence can you provide in support of your choice?
  • What evidence might somebody else, who does not agree with you, provide to support an alternative choice?
  • Recommend two or three areas to benchmark in preparation for the decision regarding global expansion. MUSE materials provide information regarding this topic.

The materials found in the M.U.S.E. may help you with this assignment, such as the audio file Benefits of Globalization. This file provides real-world experience, which may help you w

Mobile Application Design

In your paper, you will develop design prototypes for the login and main menu screens for both the consumer and provider mobile application THS. In addition, you will analyze the key data types that will be used by end users to populate these screens. You will also discuss the components of the overall IT architecture necessary to facilitate the deployment of mobile application technology for THS consumers and providers.

In your paper,

  • Develop three to four mobile application screens representing the login and main menu end user screens for consumers of THS.
  • Develop three to six mobile application screens representing the login, main menu, and patient results review end user screens for prescribing providers (doctors, nurse practitioners) of THS.
  • Articulate the content of each mobile application screen for both the consumer and prescribing providers in detail.
  • Critique the consumer mobile application screen designs according to the eight elements of an easy-to-learn-and-use interface . For each of the eight elements, state why your design meets the criteria.
  • Critique the provider mobile application screen designs according to the eight elements of use validation rules. Provide a minimum of four specific examples of how you will validate providers’ actions in the mobile design.
  • Summarize the top four priority items in the technology application testing plan that you will develop for the applications testing professional who is testing your mobile applications prototypes for the consumers and providers at THS.

The Milestone 2: Login Screen Designs Mobile Applications paper

  • Must be 10 to 12 double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA Style
    • utilize either Microsoft PowerPoint or Microsoft Word (Shapes) functionality to generate the login and main menu end user screens. These screen pictures should be included in the body of the paper and referenced as figures utilizing APA Style guidelines.
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper

hi

You will choose one of the documentary photographs in the folder “Image Analysis Essay Photos” and write a rhetorical analysis essay of the photo you’ve chosen. The purpose of this essay is to write about how and why a particular photograph “works” rhetorically, based on everything we have discussed in class about image analysis and rhetorical appeals.

You will need an effective introduction with a clear and precise thesis statement – in this case an analytical claim including reasons why the “text” works. Your analysis should include a description/explanation of the rhetorical context of the image (incl. purpose, original target audience, cultural/historical context, etc. – see chart 10.1 on p. 179) and the persuasive effects at play in the image (how things like people/landscapes function as subject matter; how composition elements like framing, angle/orientation, distance, scale, etc. work – see chart 10.2 on pp. 180-181; this answers the question of how the photographer builds/presents the message). If you think it will add significantly to your analysis, you may also demonstrate how rhetorical appeals (logospathosethos) are used in the image. Finally, you will need to explain how and why the image connects (or doesn’t connect) with the current audience (is the image more or less effective than it was; in what way?), including yourself.

As always, your language must be descriptive and expressive (“show, don’t tell”), but also rather objective and impersonal compared to your narrative essay. Use the simple present tense when describing persuasive effects and rhetorical appeals (what the image does, not what it did).

For this assignment, you should make use of at least 2-3 reliable sources to support your claims and provide you with background information. There is ample information available online for all of these images, and some even have their own Wikipedia entries (which contain links to various sources). All sources must be cited in MLA format on a “Works Cited” page. For more information, see the Purdue Owl website or pp. 498-511 in your text.
