Human Trafficking Research Paper

Research Paper – Final Submission Instructions

By the end of Module/Week 7, you must submit the final version of your research paper. The paper must thoroughly address your chosen social problem, investigate possible solutions for the problem, incorporate five peer-reviewed resources and journal articles, and have a properly formatted reference page.

Final Research Papers will be between 6 to 8 pages in length. It is important to convey your subject and topic content concisely for your final assignment. Longer assignments have a tendency to veer off subject. It is important to clearly write about your topic. (An example of a research paper outline is included below which might be of interest to you).

Remember that you must discuss the roles that the church, the family, and the community should play in the solutions to the problem. Additionally, be sure to incorporate biblical support for the positions and opinions that you express.

Review the grading rubric to improve the quality of your paper. Your paper will be submitted through SafeAssign, a tool used to detect plagiarism.

An example of a research paper which you might use to guide you, using APA guidelines which can be reviewed through the Writing Center:

 Title Page

The title page for a research paper can be reviewed through the Writing Center and if you have an APA Manual 6th ed. p. 41 includes an example.

 Abstract

Double-spaced, flush left margin. An abstract is a brief, comprehensive summary of the contents of the article. An abstract reports rather than evaluates. Be brief, and make each sentence informative, especially the lead sentence. An abstract will be viewed alone on the page. An abstract will not include citations per APA guidelines.

Introduction

The body of a manuscript opens with an introduction that presents the specific problem being studied, and describes the research strategy. Although not mandatory, APA citations can be included in an introduction.

Headings will enhance academic writing

Headings provide sound organizational structure to clear, precise information and communication you wish to convey to your reader. Headings throughout your paper will enhance academic writing and can assist the reader to anticipate key points and track the development of your argument.

Three to four pages of topic content using headings should present a concise research assignment demonstrating your understanding of the content. Remember, single sentence paragraphs are too abrupt, and paragraphs which are too long are likely to lose the reader’s attention.

Conclusion

Be sure to tie your research paper together with a strong concluding paragraph. A strong conclusion will tell the reader briefly what has been researched and discussed.

Quality Management

Unit Outcomes:

  • Identify the difference between quality assurance and control in project management.
  • Evaluate quality approaches for a project.

Purpose

Quality is key to producing not only a quality project plan, but also a quality set of outcomes for the project. Understanding different quality philosophies provides a foundation for understanding the scope of quality for each project

Assignment Instructions

Research the philosophies of the leading thinkers (Deming, Juran, and Crosby) behind today’s quality movements and fill in the matrix blanks with your understanding of each person’s philosophy dimension. The Project Management Institute’s philosophy dimensions are filled in for you to provide an example.

Then, based on your understanding of the individual philosophical dimensions, identify how you would approach quality for your project (project chosen in Unit 2) based on the project management focus of “conformance to requirements.” Your paper should start with which philosopher’s approach best aligns with your project’s requirements. Outline in your paper how “conformance to requirements” looks and which philosopher’s approach would help achieve the highest quality results.

Assignment Requirements

You will be evaluated on your understanding of the individual philosophies and their relative application to your project. The minimum length of the Assignment is 3 pages, double-spaced, not including a title page or a reference page. You need to ensure you fully address each and every criterion in the grading rubric. Please remove the Project Management Institute’s philosophy dimensions from the table before submitting your assignment, as this is just an example.

Also review the university policy on plagiarism.

Digital Tech Paper

In this 8-10+ page paper (2000-2500+ words), students will discuss the impact of an emerging digital technology on individuals and their society. The paper will center on the idea of change. What changes are occurring in connection with the technology? Why and how are these changes occurring? To what extent are they disruptive?

First, you will choose an emerging digital technology and share it with me early in the semester through the Journal Assignment that will be due.

Then, you will do research on your topic and write a paper, using APA format, that explains what you learned. You may use first person (“I”). Your paper will include both of the following sections…

  • A. Change in the development of relationships (you can focus on any or all of these types of relationships: acquaintances, friends, families, groups)
  • B. Change in work (focus on any of these or work in general: jobs, businesses, corporations, careers, industries, economics)

…and any two of the following four sections

  • C. Change in governing (focus on any of these or governing in general: national and international relations, laws, criminal justice, politics)
  • D. Change in the culture (focus on any or all of these aspects of culture: ordinary behaviors, norms, values, beliefs, ethics)
  • E. Change in entertainment (focus on any one or two of these or entertainment in general: music, TV, movies, books, magazines, games, new media)
  • F. Change in social institutions (choose one or two as applicable to your project: education, libraries, medicine, religion, transportation systems, military).

for a total of four substantive sections, separated and labeled as such in the paper (the paper will also have an Introduction and Conclusion)

Then, within each of the four substantive sections, you will include each of the following sub-sections, separated and labeled as such

  • 1. Uses and Trends: an overview of the uses and trends of the technology as it relates to the issue being addressed, both historically and currently (you will discover these via your own research)
  • 2. Disruptive Impact: an analysis of the disruptive capabilities of the technology as it relates to that issue (refer to the criteria of disruption and some course readings here)
  • 3. Predictions: based on your research, what kinds of changes do you predict as a result of the integration of this technology into society? (You can include your educated opinions in this section, and may refer to the opinions of other experts as well.)
  • …so, once completed, your paper will have FOUR substantive sections with THREE sub-sections in each. There is no need to change the names of the labels of the sub-sections in the paper – just label them in the paper exactly as they are labeled here.

Then, you will do research to provide facts and evidence for the issues being discussed. Cumulatively — across all the sections and sub-sections — your paper must contain at least ten research sources (you may need more), including:

  • At least two news articles from reputable, credible organizations – one or both of these can be a report relevant to your topic from the Pew Research Center, possibly from their internet and technology section (http://pewresearch.org.)
  • Three articles or book chapters from the class
  • A variety of at least five types of other credible, relevant media sources (other kinds of articles, YouTube videos, blog posts, websites, etc. — make sure they are factual and say something meaningful).

You can spread these sources out throughout the paper as you see fit, using and referring to them as you see fit. You may use any source more than once, and may use them in combination with one another to make deeper points. All factual info and statistics cited must have a source. You should also give attribution to any specific idea that derived from another source.

    Your paper must also include:

  • A strong, catchy, descriptive title and title page (which is not included in the page count)
  • An Introduction that makes it clear to the reader what the overall paper will be about, names the sections to be included, and states an overall thesis. (Do not title this section the “introduction.” Just start the paper.)
  • A Conclusion to the paper that restates what the overall paper was about, restates the sections that were included and the overall thesis, and leaves the reader with a something specific, concise, and interesting to think about. You may also include your own educated opinion as to the overall, larger impact of the technology in this section. (You may title this section the “Conclusion,” or you may give it a more substantive title.)

A bibliography (reference list) of your sources used in the paper in APA format (which is not included in the page count)

Formatic notes: Use APA format throughout the paper as you use to the best of you ability, and integrate and cite your sources throughout properly. However, your paper will NOT require an introductory abstract (as APA allows).

Your paper should be double-spaced OR it can simply use the page spacing and margins of your word processing program (which might be somewhat less than double-spacing). It should use a traditional font (Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri) and font size (11 or 12 point). It should be approximately 8-10 pages in length, or 2000-2500 words. It can be longer, but should not be shorter. There is plenty to say!

This paper will be assessed with the rubric in the syllabus and on the Canvas course site and when successfully completed, you will meet the RU Core Goal CCO-2 or ITR-y, as appropriate.

We can also meet to discuss your topic at additional points during the semester – stop by my office hours or contact me at any time to set up an appointment.

Your Personal Moral Theory

Required Resources
Read/review the following resources for this activity:

Introduction
In this session, you have been considering moral-ethical dilemmas you yourself faced or that you know of that you either resolved or failed to resolve, but hopefully learned from. You may never have given much thought to ethical theory nor what ethical premises/paradigms you have unconsciously held.

You will be focusing on this case for this assignment:

Jane Doe is a nursing student at University X. Jane is in week eight of a course entitled: “Introduction to Ethics”.

For the week one discussion, Jane copied work done by her friend John Doe in the same class two months ago (with a different professor). John told Jane it was okay to use his work as John’s professor never checked any work in the class using Turnitin.com. John claimed to have earned an A on the work also.

In week two, Jane went to StudentPapering.com and paid ten dollars for a week two essay done by a student (not John Doe) who took the same course four months ago. StudentPapering promises that all its archived work is of excellent quality and cannot be detected as copied. Jane then uploaded an exact copy of the work for the week two assignment.

In week three, Jane paid a worker at PaperingStudent.com ten dollars to write for Jane a brand new essay after Jane shared with the worker the essay assignment instructions.

In week four, Jane relied on her knowledge of Esperanto. She felt pressed for time and found an article by a professor from Esperanto on the week four topic. She translated Esperanto into English using Moogle Translate, and the translated text served as her week four paper.

In week five, Jane was running late again. Jane purposely uploaded a blank paper hoping that she would later claim it was an innocent mistake and not be assessed a late penalty. In a previous course on History, she had done the same (with an earlier paper from the History class rather than simply a blank) and had not seen any late penalty assessed.

In week six, Jane took work she did in a nursing course from a year ago and submitted that for her discussion posting in her current class. She simply copied and pasted the work she had labored intensively on a year ago (even though University X forbids this practice as ‘self-plagiarism’). Jane was confident her Nursing instructor never checked that work using Turnitin.com or another method.

In week seven, Jane copied and pasted work found on website.com for the paper. Jane did not use any quotation marks or other documentation to show the text was not by Jane.

Since Jane’s Ethics professor did not check papers and posting for any issues by using Turnitin.com or another method, the professor graded all of Jane’s work unaware of Jane’s actions throughout the weeks of the class. Jane feels her actions are morally justified both because her economic situation requires her to work too much to devote time to school (although other students are well-off enough to have such time) and her religion forbids cheating, but Jane ignores her religion’s teachings.

Instructions
Now that you have had an opportunity to explore ethics formally, create a reflective assessment of your learning experience and the collaborations you engaged in throughout this session. You will submit both of the following:

  • A written reflection
  • An oral presentation using a PowerPoint narrated slide show.

For the written reflection, address Jane Doe’s and respond to the following:

  • Articulate again your moral theory from week eight discussion (You can revise it if you wish). What two ethical theories best apply to it? Why those two?
  • Apply to Jane Doe’s case your personal moral philosophy as developed in week eight discussion and now. Use it to determine if what Jane Doe did was ethical or unethical per your own moral philosophy.
  • Consider if some of these examples are more grave instances of ethical transgressions than others. Explain.
  • Propose a course of social action and a solution by using the ethics of egoism, utilitarianism, the “veil of ignorance” method, deontological principles, and/or a theory of justice to deal with students like  Jane. Consider social values such as those concerning ways of life while appraising the interests of diverse populations (for instance, those of differing religions and economic status).

For the oral presentation, briefly summarize your feelings about taking a course in Ethics and explore your process of transformation in this course.

  • Discuss your experiences of the course, your beginnings, and where you are now. Consider your interaction in discussions.
  • Should health care workers be required to take a course in Ethics? Why or why not

Writing Requirements (APA format)

  • Length: 3-4 pages (not including title page or references page)
  • 1-inch margins
  • Double spaced
  • 12-point Times New Roman font
  • Title page
  • References page (minimum of 2 scholarly sources)

Presentation Requirements

  • Length: 2-3 minutes

Policy Brief

The paper is about Kenya in Africa

This assignment should be written as a policy brief from you, the Secretary of Health, to the Minister of Finance (through your own Minister, of course). As you write the brief, you must put yourself into the role of the Secretary.

The paper should be five pages long, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font. It cannot be longer. The paper should be written in a succinct manner.

The paper needs to be written in a manner that will allow the aide of the Minister  of Finance to brief him on the contents of the brief in about 3 minutes in a car on the way to some meeting, since that is what often really happens.

The paper should be written about the assigned low-income country. The paper should answer the following questions:

• What is the nature and magnitude of the problem?

• Who is affected by it?

• What are the risk factors for the problem?

• What are the economic and social consequences of the problem?

• What few priority steps do you recommend be taken to address the problem and what is your rationale for these recommendations?

The briefing note should follow the above outline, with one exception. It should start with a single paragraph that summarizes for the Minister all of the points you want to make. That summary paragraph should be approximately 5-6 sentences in length and be single spaced, reading something like this:

Write the summary and every topic sentence as if it’s the only thing that the Minister of Finance is going to read. Your evidence-based story line should include who gets any relevant disease, why they get it, why I should care, and how the problem can be addressed in the fastest and least costly manner. When you make your argument, give information about the relative cost-effectiveness of your proposal and cite supporting evidence.

Discussion 1 Problems

After supporters of former President Trump descended on the U.S. Capitol building (Links to an external site.), hoping to stop the counting of electoral college votes, lawmakers and experts alike repeated a phrase to describe the violent mob: “domestic terrorists.”

“Those who performed these reprehensible acts cannot be called protesters; no, these were rioters and insurrectionists, goons and thugs, domestic terrorists,” Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said in a speech after lawmakers reconvened. “They do not represent America.”

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) said Thursday that the band of people who occupied the House floor were “terrorists, not patriots,” evoking the fact that September will mark 20 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Also, a number of national security experts agree with that assessment, comparing the aggressive takeover of the federal landmark to the FBI’s definition of domestic terrorism: “Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.”

VANNESA CAMANO REPLY

THIS IS THE ANSWER FROM ONE THE STUDENT FROM CLASS WHAT I WANT IS A REPLY TO THIS WITH REFERENCES THANK YOU.

Chapter 28

You are meeting with a newly diagnosed 8-year-old acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) patient and his family to answer their questions about his illness and plan for treatment. They had sought medical treatment because the boy had experienced unusual fatigue, repeated infections, and unexplained bruising over the past few months.

a.            The patient and his family want to know why he has problems with bruising and infections when their understanding is that leukemia is a problem with too many white blood cells. How would you answer their question using lay language?

b.            The parents are very afraid of the chemotherapy regimen that is being planned, stating that their 40-year-old cousin died of ALL despite receiving powerful chemotherapy drugs that

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a cancer of the lymphocytes, which are white blood cells that are in charge of the immune system. It is the most common type of cancer in children.
In the (ALL), the lymphoblasts provide the bone marrow and crowd out other normal cells, repressing the generation of red blood cells, several other types of white blood cells. If the bone marrow is not working correctly, the child may encounter anemia, simple bruising, bleeding, or infection.

Anemia is the result of reduced red blood cells. Anemia symptoms include tiredness, irritation, drowsiness, colorlessness, shortness of breath, and a rapid heartbeat.
When lesions occur it is difficult for blood to clot, so bleeding and bruises may happen more easily since there is a low flow of platelets. Additionally, an infection may happen often if the blood lack of normal white blood cells.
Lymphoblasts may also extend to other organs, including the skin, liver, spleen, the spinal fluid, and a girl’s ovaries, and a boy’s testicles

The purpose of chemotherapy in patients with acute lymphocytic leukemia is to achieve remission. As a result, leukemia cells are no longer seen in bone marrow samples, the normal marrow cells respond, and the blood counts become normal.  92% of children begin within a month of induction treatment to then start remission. Patients are required to stay in the hospital for treatment and daily doctor’s check. Complications can be very severe to be life-threatening, but improvements in health care, have made the threat less probable.
