Facility Article Critique

Planning and constructing a sport facility requires cooperation between a variety of people, agencies, and interests. For this assignment, you will use the online library databases to select an article that focuses on the planning and construction of a sport facility. Specific journals that may have relevant articles include the Journal of Sport Management, the Journal of Facility Planning, Design, and Management, or The Sport Journal. The article must be from a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal such as these.

After selecting your article, you will write a two-page paper sharing what it was about and your critique of the article. In your article critique, include specifics regarding the design and construction regulations used during the planning or building of the facility, and identify the major trends that influenced the planning of the equipment used in the facility. Be sure to incorporate material from the assigned reading from your textbook, and explain how your selected article relates to the information covered in this unit.

Steps for completing the assignment are as follows:

  1. Navigate to the online library, select a database, and select an appropriate article.
  2. Read the article and think about the points the author has made in relation to the content of this unit.
  3. Using elements of the article, form a reaction to the article and the author’s viewpoint. Prepare to share your critique of the article.
  4. Make sure that your opinion/critique is the result of your insight as well as your logical and critical thinking. A simple statement of agreement or disagreement is not sufficient. You must clearly and logically state (and cite) the reasons for your opinion.
  5. Read the instructor feedback from the last assignment, and apply it as you write this paper.
  6. Write the paper. Include in the content:
    1. an introductory statement about whether you agree or disagree with the author,
    2. an overview of the article’s main points and how it relates to the topics covered in this unit, identification of design and construction regulations involved in the building of the facility,
    3. major trends that impacted the planning of the facility,
    4. your critique of the article, and
    5. a summary of your reaction to the article.
  7. Submit your paper according to the information provided below.

Paper requirements are as follows:

  • Write a minimum of two double-spaced pages (APA Format plus a title page and reference page).
  • Address the topic of the paper using critical thought. The required information listed above should clearly stand out and be unambiguous. Otherwise, it will be determined to be missing.
  • Ensure that all parts of your paper are formatted according to the APA style as detailed in the approved APA manual.
  • Include a title page that includes:
    • title of paper,
    • your name, and
    • university name.
  • Include an introductory section at the start of your paper.
  • Include the following first-level headings:
    • Summary of the Article
    • How the Article Relates to Chapter Concepts
    • Design and Construction Regulations
    • Trends that Impacted Planning
    • Critique of the Article
    • Conclusion
  • Include a reference page as the final page of your paper. Ensure that this page is completed and formatted according to the correct APA style.
  • Avoid the serious consequence of plagiarism by using your own words and including citations for sources you used.
  • As with all assignments, non-scholarly sources such as Wikipedia and About.com may not be cited in your work.

By the way, I have several attachments below which CSU articles to choose from to complete this assignment. Just choose one article to critique. Lastly, is the Unit Study Guide (or overview) which will be helpful in this assignment. Be sure to use the resources below.  Remember NO PLAGIARISM & I need will need a PLAGIARISM REPORT upon completion.

Homework Question

Preparing for the Informational Interview

An informational interview is a recommended tool for exploring career options. You will submit a written account of the informational interview you conducted with the psychology professional.

You will ask the interviewee to describe the educational and training steps (the career paths) he or she took to reach the current position. You will also ask the interviewee to describe, in some detail, the job responsibilities associated with the position. The interview must be at least thirty minutes long. Ideally, it should be conducted in person. If that is not feasible, a phone interview is adequate.

Begin to prepare for this informational interview by identifying the professional you plan to interview. Ideally, the professional should be engaged in a career that you hope to pursue. (You may want to identify a second candidate in case your initial choice is unable to complete the interview with you.) This professional may work in your local area, but that is not necessary. If you cannot identify a professional easily, ask your friends and family if they know anyone who works in the field of psychology. You may also want to phone your local community mental health center or social services agency to ask for names and contact information of potential professionals you could interview. Contact your facilitator for guidance if you have difficulty in identifying someone.

Tasks

In a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document, address the following:

  • Provide the following identifying information about the individual you have selected:
    • The name
    • The job title (licensed psychologist, social worker, or case manager)
    • The level of education (a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree)
    • A description of job responsibilities or day-to-day tasks
    • The type of license, if applicable
    • The state of residence and practice
    • The e-mail address or phone number
  • Develop a list of at least fifteen questions to ask in your informational interview. Research possible questions to include using the Argosy University online library resources and the Internet. Refer to the Job Resources document to conduct an Internet search using the search terms “informational interview questions” in order to find suggested questions. Be sure to put them into your own words for the purpose of this assignment and to give credit to your source by using in-text citations and a reference list in APA format.
  • Ask the interviewee about his or her work, academic preparation, and advice. In addition, include the interviewee’s answers to questions on the following topics:
    • The experience, skills, and knowledge necessary for success in a career in psychology or in graduate school
    • Relevant professional organizations
    • His or her views on professional ethics and academic integrity
    • The role of psychological research in his or her work
    • His or her greatest challenges and rewards
    • His or her reasons for choosing the field
  • Develop a script (word-for-word written statement) that you will use during the warm-up (meet-and-greet) portion of the interview. What will you say to the interviewee when you meet him or her? What will you do? For example, will you shake the person’s hand and introduce yourself? Include small talk of a professional nature that will serve as an introduction and explanation of the purpose of the interview. Demonstrate in your script your ability to interact professionally and effectively in a professional environment.
  • This assignment is preparatory work for the interview to be conducted later in this course. Do not conduct the interview for this assignment.

Submission Details:

  • Write a 1–2-page paper in Microsoft Word format. Apply APA standards to cite sources.

Assignment 2: Case Analysis: John Smith

Obtaining informed consent for services from clients is required of human services providers; however, it is not always an easy task. Clients typically grant consent by signing documents presented by the agency or the provider that, at minimum, explain the services that will be provided, the client rights, and information on the steps to rescind the consent.

In situations where minors or individuals under some form of guardianship are the clients, it is necessary to obtain consent from the legal guardian or authority. However, there are times when obtaining informed consent is not as simple as asking for a signature from the client or guardian. These situations require more thought by the human services providers with emphasis on balancing the client’s right to consent with other factors that might influence treatment outcomes or decisions.

In this assignment, you will review a case that illustrates the various facets of informed consent.

The Case:

Smith is a thirty-eight-year-old African American male referred for counseling by his mother to address recent incidents of aggression. Smith resides with his mother because he is not able to live on his own. Smith is unable to hold on to a job and has difficulty establishing and maintaining relationships with others. He is open to counseling but thinks his mother is overreacting to his anger outbursts because she is old and does not understand him. Recently, there have been notable conflicts between them due to Smith’s aggressive behaviors that were directed toward his mother.

Tasks:

Analyze the case and in a 2- to 3-page paper, address the following:

· What steps would you, as the counselor, take for obtaining informed consent from Smith?

· Would you, as the counselor, include his mother in the counseling sessions, if you believe it would help with Smith’s aggression problem? Why or why not?

In your answers, consider the following:

· Smith is not able to live independently.

· Smith’s aggression might put his mother at risk if he does not get counseling.

· Smith has to comprehend what is being asked of him when he provides his consent to receive counseling services.

· There might be cultural differences between you and Smith.

Pretty Lady Cosmetic Products has an average production process time of 40 days. Finished goods are kept on hand for an average of 15 days before they are sold. Accounts receivable are outstanding an average of 35 days, and the firm receives 40 days of credit on its purchases from suppliers

A. Estimate  the average length of the firm’s short-term operating cycle. How often  would the cycle turn over in a year?

B. Assume net sales of $1,200,000 and cost of goods sold of $900,000. Determine the average investment in accounts receivable, inventories, and accounts payable. What would be the net financing need considering only these three      accounts?

A supplier is offering your firm a cash discount of 2 percent if purchases are paid for within ten days; otherwise, the bill is due at the end of 60 days. Would you recommend borrowing from a bank at an 18 percent annual interest rate to take advantage of the cash discount offer? Explain your answer.

Leadership Practice Assignment

Critical Thinking: Leadership Practice

The Vice President of operations recently promoted you to branch manager and moved you to a new branch office where the morale among employees is low and performance is poor. Of the five employees, Amani has the most tenure with six years. Amani seems to have the lowest morale and is not motivated to do the work, although he is quite capable of doing it successfully. Bassmah has been with the company for four years but has not mastered the new software and is performing at a low level even three months after being trained on the software. Hadeel also has four years with the company and Rawan has two years. Hadeel and Rawan are responsible for client contact, and while in the past they worked well together on reaching out to clients, now there are conflicts and low morale. Samah has been with the company just three months and does not understand what is expected on the job and is contemplating leaving the company.

Approach the case as the branch manager well versed in situational leadership.

  • Explain      situational leadership to your Vice President.
  • Determine      the readiness level of each employee and explain your reasoning.
  • Determine      the appropriate leader behavior to match the employee level and explain      your reasoning.
  • Develop      a plan of action as to how you will lead each person to higher performance      and morale and explain it to your Vice President.

Directions:

  • Write      an essay that includes an introduction paragraph, the essay’s body, and a      conclusion paragraph to address the assignment’s guide questions. Do not      address the questions using a question-and-answer format.

Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Be 5      pages in length, which does not include the title and reference pages,
  • APA      style guidelines.
  • Support      your submission with course material concepts, principles, and theories      from the textbook and at least two current, scholarly,      peer-reviewed journal articles. Current articles are those published      in the last five years.
  • Turnitin      Originality Report

Week 4 Assignment 2 – Auditors and Regulatory Oversight

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulates public  companies. The SEC has found that some of these companies have violated  GAAP by using creative accounting practices to mislead investors and  creditors regarding the health of their company.

Use the Internet or Strayer Library  to research a recent accounting scandal within the last five years  where the SEC accused public companies of accounting irregularities.

Instructions

Write a 3–4 page paper in which you:

  1. Analyze the audit report that the CPA firm issued. Ascertain  the legal liability to third parties who relied on financial statements  under both common and federal securities laws. Justify your response.
  2. Speculate on which statement of generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) that the company violated in performing the audit.
  3. Compare the responsibility of both management and the auditor  for financial reporting, and give your opinion as to which party should  have the greater burden. Defend your position.
  4. Analyze the sanctions available under SOX, and recommend the  key action or actions that the PCAOB should take in order to hold  management or the audit firm accountable for the accounting  irregularities. Provide a rationale for your response.
  5. Use the Strayer Library  to locate at least two quality academic resources in this assignment.  Note: Wikipedia and other similar websites do not qualify as academic  resources.

This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For  assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing  Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course. Check with your  professor for any additional instructions.

The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:

  • Recommend sanctions for accounting irregularities based on an  audit report, auditing standards, and financial reporting  responsibilities.

First and  foremost, you’ll need to select a recent case of accounting violations  (i.e. fraud, restatements due to the incorrect application of GAAP,  etc.), one reported in 2014 or after (trust me, there are tons of them).

Next, you’re going to use that case as the basis for your paper in  which you address four key sections. To ensure that you’re giving each  section adequate attention, I recommend labeling the sections in your  paper (i.e. Section 1, Section 2, etc.). In summary, the four sections  are:

  1. Analyze the audit report that the CPA firm issued. Ascertain the  legal liability to third parties who relied on financial statements  under both common and federal securities laws.
  2. Speculate on which standard of generally acceptable auditing  standards (GAAS) that the company violated in performing the audit.  [Remember that we have studied these standards extensively.]
  3. Compare the responsibility of both management and the auditor  for financial reporting and give your opinion as to which party should  have the greater burden.
  4. Analyze the sanctions available under SOX and recommend the  key action(s) that the PCAOB should take in order to hold management or  the audit firm accountable for the accounting irregularities.

I have a couple of other recommendations to help to ensure that you earn maximum credit on the assignment:

  • Provide a short but inviting introduction paragraph that introduces your reader to the topics that you’ll be discussing.
  • Address each of the four sections completely and thoroughly  using your own words and analysis as much as possible (limit the use of  direct quotations).
  • Prepare a clear and concise summary paragraph that highlights your conclusions based on the analysis of each section.

Reflection paper

Writing a Reflection Paper may be very challenging. The process is at times confusing and a bit open-ended as well. To that end, I have made an attempt to create a clear rubric on which you will be graded and to set clear expectations from the assignment.

In this course you will be writing 5 Reflection Papers.

These papers will be your reflective response to a reading. The process will be relatively simple: You will read a text that will be assigned within the module. You will then write a Reflection Paper based on that text and your observations of it.

The purpose of a Reading Reflection Paper is understand your informed opinions about what you may have learned from the text.
Each reader will respond to the text differently based on their personal experiences and lifestyles. Keeping this in mind, the purpose of this paper is to consider how these ideas reflect, contradict, or align with your interpretations.
This will be an opportunity for you to recognize and challenge your opinions.

Here is a list of the basic requirements:

1. The paper must be written in MLA format. If this is not done you will lose points.

2. Each paper must be 550 – 750 words.

3. Outside sources are not required – just use the text that you are responding to.

4. Writing must be formal language with correct spelling and punctuation.

5. Each paper must take one idea/topic from the text and write about it – do not summarize.

6. When composing your paper think of the following: What is the one new thing that you have learned? Or it could be the one thing that disturbed you the most. How does the learning of that one thing challenge your prior ideas (or support them)? And how does learning this affect your view of the world around you?

7. Remember: This paper is meant to help you find what is meaningful to you in the reading. I do not need you to summarize the material. I want to know what it means to you.

8. Check the rubric and the samples for Reflection Papers and make sure to ask questions as needed.

ping times

Assignment: Analyzing Ping Trip Times

The ping utility allows you to determine the amount of time required for a packet of information to traverse a network between your computer and another computer.

Utilize the ping utility to collect data on the round trip time for three different websites.

Choose any website and ping that site using the default ping settings. This will return four measurements of the round trip time between that website server and your computer. Record these four measurements, and repeat the process until you have twenty total measurements for the round trip time.

Repeat this process for two additional websites.

Construct a set of box and whisker plots showing access times for each of the three websites. In addition to providing the chart, include a brief description of what the box and whisker plots tell you. You should specifically describe what five measures are included on the chart and how each is determined.

Choose one of your websites for additional analysis. Ping that site twenty additional times this time recording the average value given for the four trials rather than the values for each trial

Create a chart showing the mean, median, standard deviation, and variance for both the single-trial values (from your first data collection) and for the averages (from your second data collection). In addition to providing the chart, include a brief description of what these four pieces of data tell you and how each is calculated.

Respond to the following questions about your charts and data analysis:

  1. Describe how the access times for the three different websites compared. Discuss possible reasons for these differences.
  2. Compare the mean, median, standard deviation, and variance values for the single-trial and four trial average data? Which values are similar for these two measures? Which values are different? Given that both measure round trip access time, why are some of the values different? Consider the Central Limit Theorem in your response.
  3. Ping is a very quick way to assess a network connection between two computers. You want to use it to set up an hourly test to determine whether or not you have a stable connection to a specific resource. Describe the data analysis and interpretation steps you would utilize to determine if the connection was stable. To think about these steps, imagine that you needed to script/program these steps so that the test ran automatically and notified you if there was an issue.

You should combine all aspects of this assignment including charts into a single, cohesive document for grading. Please also submit your Excel data files for review but ensure that all charts and necessary information are in your main document.

In this scenario, James might define Sara’s out-of-seat behavior as any instance when Sara’s bottom leaves the seat and she moves away from her desk within one foot or more without permission from the teacher to be out of her seat. Also out-of-seat behavior would not include times when the expectation is for her to leave her seat for other valid reasons (recess, bathroom, other exercises that require her to leave her seat) or for standing up for 5 seconds or less without leaving the 1-foot radius of her desk.

In order to measure Sara’s out-of-seat behavior, I would focus on the length of time such a behavior occurred (duration). This might be more relevant than the frequency in this example. To measure her behavior, I would consider a simple stopwatch that could be pressed each time she leaves her seat under the conditions stated above, and depressed when she returns to her seat. The stopwatch could maintain its duration count by James simply continuing the duration count for the next instance without resetting the clock in order to simplify the process. Using this method, James could use the sum of the clock time at the end of each day as his data.

Alternatively, depending on the duration of Sara’s behavior and the frequency of occurrences, James could break his observations during the day into intervals and use whole interval recording to measure her out-of-seat behavior. This would minimize the teacher’s need to stay on-task in measuring Sara’s behavior for the entire day since that could be impractical for him. One possibility would be to track Sara’s behavior for the first 10 minutes of each hour. An additional timer could alert James to begin and end each observation period. James would want to keep in mind that whole interval recording would underestimate the occurrence of her behavior (Cooper et al., 2020). According to Cooper et al. (2020), whole interval recording would be more effectively used for a very high frequency or continuous behavior. James would want to modify his methods depending on the frequency of the behavior and consider the artifacts of these measurement systems when interpreting the data (Cooper et al., 2020).

An alternative method would be to measure a different behavior that might be more relevant to the actual behavior of concern, such as approaching other students’ desks or talking out of turn, if those are actually more specifically the behaviors of concern.
