Option #1: Organization’s Inclusivity Statement Paper

Option #1: Organization’s Inclusivity Statement Paper

Welcome to Module 5 Critical Thinking. Ensuring a diverse staff and board composition has as much to do with how an organization internally operates and communicates as it does with the way it attracts, recruits, and hires people. The strategies below outline a few things to consider when working to create and retain a diverse staff and board over the long-term. Once a diverse team and board are in place, there are myriad ways of celebrating and recognizing diversity on an ongoing basis.

Creating and publishing an inclusivity statement, and leveraging that statement during the recruitment process, is an excellent way to attract the caliber of talented people who believe in the same types of values the organization does. For your assignment, you are to create an ‘Inclusivity Statement’ for your organization. Your statement should include the following topics:

  • Hiring and Recruitment
  • Training
  • Employee Representation
  • External Relationships
  • Organizational Leadership

Submission Requirements:

  1. Your submission should be 4  pages in length (not including title or reference pages) and be formatted according to the CSU Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements (Links to an external site.).
  2. Be sure to discuss and reference concepts taken from the course reading material and relevant research.
  3. You must include a minimum of 6 credible, academic, or professional references beyond the text or other course materials (at least two scholarly/peer-reviewed from the CSU Global Library).
  4. You may wish to review the Template Paper (Links to an external site.) for help formatting your essay according to the requirements.
  5. If you need assistance with your writing style or you need writing tips or tutorials, visit the CSU Global Writing Center (Links to an external site.).

English Composition w/Research

Gun Control is the topic.

Please read the entire post!!

In this paper, you will make an arguable claim that is supported by credible evidence. A sound argument is different from an opinion. An opinion is a belief that lacks a basis in logic or factual evidence. Instead, for this paper, you will use the writing process to form a position on your chosen topic, an argument that is based on logic and factual evidence found through research. So, instead of starting with an opinion and finding sources, you start with sources and use them to form a position.

An argumentative essay asks you to take a stand on an issue, support it with persuasion, reasons, and evidence, and to address the opposition’s position. To accomplish this goal, you will research and investigate your topic by building a source list that represents credible, scholarly, authoritative voices. You must responsibly integrate and discuss these perspectives into your writing, demonstrating how they either support or go against your own argument. All claims should be backed up by sources, whether quoted directly, summarized, or paraphrased.

Organization Tips: Begin with an introduction that builds readers’ interest in the topic and ends with a concise thesis statement that makes an arguable claim about a problem. This is the foundation on which you will build your argument.

The subsequent paragraphs should give evidence from scholarly sources that prove the claim. Those body paragraphs should include a topic sentence that encompasses a single aspect of your argument that you will write about in that paragraph only. Remember, paragraphs are like containers, and each container can only hold one subtopic. Each paragraph’s topic sentence needs to be backed up with evidence and be tied back to the thesis. You must also acknowledge oppositional points by incorporating and refuting counterarguments.

Don’t forget a conclusion that summarizes the argument, emphasizes its importance, makes a call to action, and/or looks to future implications. No new information or citations should be introduced in the conclusion.

The approach to this can be in a style you find makes sense for your subject, such as an Introduction > Problem > Cause > Solution > Conclusion approach, or any other pattern that logically outlines your argument.

Paper requirements:

  • Be a minimum of 1000 words, but no more than 1500 (not including the Reference page).
  • Use at least 4-5 reputable   (Links to an external site.)sources
  • Be in APA format (Title Page, Paper, References)
  • 1-inch margins
  • Double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font
  • Indented paragraphs
  • Third person POV (no I, you, we, us, our)
  • No contractions

Info Systems Mgmt#14

The case study must be at least two pages in length (not counting the title and reference pages), and you must use at least two references as a source for your essay. See the Suggested Reading section for some sample articles on outsourcing. Be sure to cite all sources used in APA format, and format your essay in APA style.

As a manager of an organization, you will often need to find ways to cut costs. One way to cut costs is to outsource by hiring another organization to perform the service. Consider the scenario below.

As a manager for the public outreach department, you realize that the current system for managing outreach issues is outdated. You would like to have a new outreach system developed using the Cloudera platform to help manage big data. However, no one in the organization has the expertise. You will have to outsource the project to save on costs and avoid management problems. Two companies have sent in a bid—one from Vancouver, Canada, and one from Mumbai, India. The bid from India was slightly lower than the bid from Canada. Compose a response that includes the elements listed below.

  • Define what is meant by outsourcing.
  • Explain how Peter Drucker’s statement (covered in the textbook in uCertify) about how one company’s back room is another company’s front room pertains to outsourcing. Use an example.
  • Summarize the management advantages, cost reduction, and risk reduction of outsourcing.
  • Summarize the outsourcing risks concerning control, long-term costs, and exit strategy.
  • Discuss which company you would outsource to and why. Does distance matter?

In a substantive post, explain why you agree or disagree with your colleague’s discussion as to whether the determination was right or wrong. Provide additional supportive evidence as to your agreement or disagreement. Your responses should be at least 100 substantive words.

The Marketing Plan: GAP Analysis

  Business: Local Logistics Firm

-Responsible for the transport of freight locally.

-Freight consists of home goods such as appliances and furniture for local businesses to their consumers.

Every business should determine its own standards for success when evaluating the attractiveness of a market, since every industry has its unique circumstances. Criteria that influence Segment Attractiveness include:

  • Market Growth (Market Size, Growth Rate, Market Potential)
  • Competitive Intensity (Number of Companies, Ease of Entry, Substitutes)
  • Market Access (Customer Familiarity, Channel Access, Company Fit)

While benchmarking based on criteria is beneficial in capturing the qualitative aspects of a market situation, the profit potential must also be assessed for all segments deemed attractive based on their market attractiveness indexes.

Segmentation Application

  • Provide a brief description of your chosen product/service. (This should be used throughout the class.)
  • Analyze customer needs for the target product
  • Discuss Segmentation Strategies based on two real competitors’ market position
  • Devise a niche marketing strategy that would be appropriate for your company’s product.

Gap Analysis, Benchmarking & Competitive Advantage

  • Implement a Gap Analysis of Two Competitors. Discuss how the findings would be used.
  • Develop Competitor and Competitive Benchmarking.
    • Competitor benchmarking involves identifying a business’s main competitors and then comparing itself against them in key performance areas. Competitive benchmarking involves going outside a business’s market or industry to study a company that excels in an area where the business is deficient.
  • Devise Strategies to Achieve Competitive Advantage for the Company

This is the main part of the assignment and requires extensive critical thinking. Do not rely on summarizing information; instead explain based on the definition of each virtue and vice how they apply to your chosen leader. Use your library articles to provide support for the analysis. Use the template and divide your paper into clear sections with headings based on each of the virtues and vices you are discussing.

Using articles primarily from Trident Online Library’s full-text databases (like Academic Search Complete, Business Source Complete, and/or ProQuest Central), research the chosen topic and create a well-balanced 4- to 5-page submission that demonstrates evidence of critical thinking. Remember that this means your paper should not be just a summary of the articles and book chapters that you read, but rather an in-depth analysis that is supported by quality, professional, and graduate-level research.

Do not use any quotations. Since you are engaging in research, be sure to cite and reference the sources in APA format. The paper should be written in third person; this means words like “I”, “we”, and “you” are not appropriate. For more information see Differences Between First and Third Person.

Use the attached APA-formatted template (MKT501 Case2) to create your submission.

Letters/Emails to or Interview with a Legislator

Week 6: Assignment – Letters/Emails to or Interview with a LegislatorTask: View this topic

Assignment Prompt

Public policy has a major impact on your practice and your patients. Advocacy is an expectation of the advanced practice nurse. Elected officials care about what their constituents have to say. To make a difference, you need to be informed and engaged. Contacting your legislator and discussing issues is an important attribute of nurse leaders. In your interactions with lawmakers you want to be positive and nonpartisan, personal, persistent, patient, focused on your message, and provide accurate information.

Directions

  1. Determine the issue or message (e.g., telehealth impact on your practice) you wish to discuss with your legislator(s). Resource: The American Nurses Association Federal Legislative Priorities for 2019.
  2. Identify your legislator and contact information from his or her website and/or search here.
  3. Choose one method of Advocacy: Face-to-Face or Letter/ Email.

Advocacy Option #1:

  • Face-to-Face: Meet in person with a state or federal legislator or the legislator’s assistant/aide. The student may have to meet with the legislator’s assistant (especially if federal legislator) which is acceptable.  Making an appointment might be time consuming (especially if federal legislator), so you will need to begin the appointment process early in course. Students in the same legislative district may go together.
    1. Once you have completed the visit, each student will write a summary (one-page) and thank-you note (even when the visit is conducted with other students).
    2. Summary may include: Was legislator/assistant: — knowledgeable about APN role and topic or at least willing to become informed? Was he or she willing to express support or opposition? Was he or she  cordial or merely civil, helpful or confrontational, or informative about the political process?
    3. Post the summary and a copy of your thank you note (letter or email) in the D2L assignment link.

Advocacy Option #2:

  • Letter or Email: The student must write three (3) letters or emails or a combination of letters/emails to their identified legislators (State and/or Federal). The letters/emails may be the same topic to three different legislators or three different topics to three different legislators. Legislators read correspondence, especially when it is personalized and clearly from a constituent. The following guidelines should be used when writing to your representative:
    1. Be brief (one page or less), and use your own words.
    2. Begin with the appropriate heading and address.
    3. Be specific: State the specific bill number and issue and state your opinion in the first sentence.
    4. Relate your experience with the issue. Use personal examples when possible. Your interest and concern about the issue is important.
    5. Ask the legislator to specifically commit to supporting or opposing the legislation you are writing about.
    6. Ask for specific reasons they are supporting or opposing the proposal.
    7. Sign and print your name and include your address and other contact information.
    8. If you have pertinent materials and/or editorials from local papers, include them.
    9. Cite any references at the end of the letter or email usingAPA format.
    10. Avoid form letters/emails if possible. If you are using a sample or form letter, be sure to adapt it, especially in the first sentence and paragraph.  Legislators and their aides recognize form letters and are less likely to be influenced by them.
    11. Thank him or her for considering your opinion.
    12. Submit the three letters and/or emails in Word docs in the D2L assignment link along with a separate one-page reflection on your experience.

write an summary

Primary Sources: There will be ten (10) Primary Sources that students will read over the class. Each Primary Source will be labeled as OpV # and will require the student to understand each side of a topic, provide a 300 word summary of each side, and then answer the questions at the end of italicized Introduction. Each summary must be original and should refrain from containing any quotes. The answers to the questions should have a location (page 3, second paragraph in the first column) but will not need a direct quote. The goal is to have the students engage directly with individuals from the past and wrestle with their opinions from both sides of a historical Discussion. Each summary will be worth 20 points – 10 OpVs with two summaries per = 20 summaries total for 200 points.

Make sure you are checking your Originality Report for each assignment. This report tells me if there is a concern with parts of your submission related to other students. In other words, you do not want to have a high percentage because it will look like you plagiarized someone else’s work. If you are going to work together on these assignments, make sure that your submission is your voice. This ain’t Math class, so do not copy someone else’s work!

Licensing and Franchising

1. Key Term (Licensing and Franchising) and Why You Are Interested in It (100 words minimum)

After reading the textbook, specifically state why you are interested in conducting further research on this key term (e.g., academic curiosity, application to a current issue related to employment, or any other professional rationale).

2. Explanation of the Key Term (Licensing and Franchising) (100 words minimum)

Provide a clear and concise overview of the essentials relevant to understanding this key term.

In your own words, discuss each of the following points:

a. How the cited work relates to your above explanation AND how it relates specifically to the content of the assigned module/week. This part of your thread provides evidence that you have extended your understanding of this key term beyond the textbook readings. (150 words minimum)

b. How the cited work relates to the other 4 works you researched. This part of your thread provides evidence that you have refined your research key term to a coherent and specialized aspect of the key term, rather than a random selection of works on the key term. The idea here is to prove that you have focused your research and that all works cited are related in some manner to each other rather than simply a collection of the first 5 results from your Internet search. (150 words minimum)

5. References

A minimum of 5 recent scholarly articles, written within the last five years (not textbooks, Wikipedia, or other popular reading magazines), in current APA format, must be included and must contain persistent links so others may have instant access.
