Social Work Logic Model Assignment

A logic model is a tool that can be used in planning a program. Using a logic model, social workers can systematically analyze a proposed new program and how the various elements involved in a program relate to each other. At the program level, social workers consider the range of problems and needs that members of a particular population present. Furthermore, at the program level, the logic model establishes the connection between the resources needed for the program, the planned interventions, the anticipated outcomes, and ways of measuring success. The logic model provides a clear picture of the program for all stakeholders involved.

To prepare for this Assignment, review the case study of the Petrakis family, located in this week’s resources. Conduct research to locate information on an evidence-based program for caregivers like Helen Petrakis that will help you understand her needs as someone who is a caregiver for multiple generations of her family. You can use the NREPP registry. Use this information to generate two logic models for a support group that might help Helen manage her stress and anxiety.

First, consider the practice level. Focus on Helen’s needs and interventions that would address those needs and lead to improved outcomes. Then consider the support group on a new program level. Think about the resources that would be required to implement such a program (inputs) and about how you can measure the outcomes.

Submit the following:

  • A completed practice-level logic model outline (table) from the Week 7 Assignment handout
  • A completed program logic model outline (table) in the Week 7 Assignment Handout

  • Introduction
  • 2–3 paragraphs that elaborate on your practice-level logic model outline. Describe the activities that would take place in the support group sessions that would address needs and lead to improved outcomes
  • 2–3 paragraphs that elaborate on your program-level logic model and address the following:
    • Decisions that would need to be made about characteristics of group membership
    • Group activities
  • Short- and long-term outcomes
    • Ways to measure the outcomes
  • Conclusion

Implementing Security Layers

Module 01 Content

  1. This first part of your project focuses on a model of implementing security using layers, segmentation and other basic security techniques to re-design the network accordingly.

In this assignment, you are to design a network to incorporate and secure both the Chicago and Denver networks. This is a top-level network design updating the current designs provided. There is a separate design for the current Bering (Chicago) and Unicorp (Denver) sites and you will need to integrate and secure both sites. You will use the following two drawings:

Module01NetworkDiagramChicago.zipModule01NetworkDiagramDenver.zipFor each network, you will need to add firewalls, routers and connectivity to the internet for site-to-site communications. Assume you have the funds and abilities to add any security measures that you may feel is needed.

For your project, you will submit a design proposal in which you:

    1. Use Microsoft Visio to design a network diagram, particularly with defense in depth in mind which depicts how you will connect and secure the Chicago and Denver networks.
    2. Indicate the following on your drawings:
    3. The location of databases. Denver has several databases (customer, product, employee, payroll and manufacturing). Indicate which of these you would consolidate in Chicago and which database or databases would remain in multiple locations (you can assume databases in multiple locations would be synchronized). Explain your decision.
    4. All network devices used (routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, VPNs, and / or others)
    5. The interconnections between network devices.
    6. The end user (client) devices (desktops, laptops, mobile devices)
    7. The internet cloud, generically, to represent your network’s interface to the Internet
    8. Briefly describe how your network design provides multiple layers of security in a word document.
    9. Notes on submission:

    • Insert the Visio diagrams into the body of your design proposal so that THEY are active and editable. You should not be using screenshots.
    • Focus on routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, and interfaces between devices. Do not add wireless connectivity.
    • Your analysis should use professional tone and vocabulary, APA format, and proper spelling and grammar.

Week 4 Assignment – Case Study on Audit and Internal Control

In the United States of America, the management and auditors of  public held companies must evaluate their internal controls annually.  The purpose of the evaluation is to look for any control deficiencies.  Doing so will help avoid any penalties such as the $10.5 million that  the SEC imposed on Citigroup Inc. as a result of its internal controls  failures. See the article from SEC.gov, Citigroup to Pay More Than $10 Million for Books and Records Violations and Inadequate Controls.

You are an external auditor hired by Citigroup to perform an audit. You will be reporting to Citigroup’s audit committee.

Instructions

Write a 2–3 page report for the audit committee in which you:

  1. Critique Citigroup’s internal controls and the purpose they serve.
  2. Distinguish between operation and design control deficiency.
  3. Determine the reasons that led Citigroup Inc. to pay $10.5 million in penalties.
  4. Recommend techniques that will overcome the weaknesses of Citigroup’s internal controls; justify the recommendation.
  5. Use three sources to support your writing. Choose sources that are  credible, relevant, and appropriate. Cite each source listed on your  source page at least one time within your assignment. For help with  research, writing, and citation, access the library, or review library guides.

This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For  assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing  Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course. Check with your  professor for any additional instructions.

The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:

  • Evaluate internal control as an indicator of effectiveness and accuracy of financial statements.

 A letter to the parents:

This discussion assesses your ability to:

  • Analyze ethical practices aligned to the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act that can best support students with disabilities, and
  • Characterize the ethical and legal conflicts regarding instructional decisions for students with disabilities.

This discussion also supports your achievement of Course Learning Outcome 4, 5, and 6 and 7 and the MASE Program Learning Outcomes 1, 4, 5, 6 and 8.

According to the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), part of being a well-prepared special educator includes “developing relationships with families based on mutual respect and actively involving families and individuals with exceptionalities in educational decision making” (Council for Exceptional Children, 2015, Special Education Professional Ethical Principles, E). This includes advocating for parental involvement by providing information on educational rights and safeguards in a way that creates accessibility and transparent IEP meeting procedures (Council for Exceptional Children, 2015).

Hammond, Ingalls and Trussell (2008) investigated the experiences of those family members who attended an initial IEP meeting and then subsequent meetings over the next four years. Their findings indicated that the overwhelming majority of the 212 family participants agreed that the child needed special education services but had negative emotional responses to the initial team meeting. Some of the most beneficial information collected included acknowledging the emotions tied to having a child initial diagnosed with a disability; stronger communication skills by education professionals during the team meeting; and additional measures to better prepare parents for the team meetings (Hammond, Ingalls, & Trussell, 2008). Similarly, the article, Building Parent Trust in the Special Education Setting (Links to an external site.) (Wellner, 2012) was written to emphasize the importance of trust building strategies to avoid costly due process hearings and to maximize relationships with all involved in making decisions on behalf of the student with special needs.

Initial Post: After reading the article, After reading the article, The 5-Point Plan, reviewing the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) , reviewing the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) Special Education and Professional Ethical Principles and Practice Standards (Links to an external site.), and reading Building Parent Trust in the Special Education Setting (Links to an external site.) you will create an initial response depending on the first letter of your last name.

Read the following scenario and discuss Sam’s risks for developing criminal behavior based on your knowledge of the biological, learning and situational factors.  Please use and cite your text, at least one professional journal article, and at least one other professional or government source (which can also be a journal article).

Scenario

An 11-year-old male, Sam, is growing up in a public housing project. He is being raised by his authoritarian maternal grandmother and his permissive/laissez faire, alcoholic and crack-addicted mother. He has four siblings fathered by two different men, one of whom shook Sam when he was five months old, causing him to be hospitalized for brain swelling.  Sam’s mother used drugs and alcohol while she was pregnant with Sam, and he was born six weeks premature. He is considered slow-to-warm up, is good in school and likes attending, but others in the project tease him for being a sissy. The neighborhood has opposing criminal street gangs who fight for the territory to sell drugs. One particular gang member is older and takes the time to talk with Sam and protect him from neighborhood bullies and other gang members. Sam has the typical pubescent male urges, and the older gang members introduce Sam to other gang members and even girls who associate with the gang. Sam can even borrow money from the gang. His grandmother never has money to lend, but the gang does because of its lucrative illicit drug-selling. Sam is starting to spend more time with the gang, and therefore he is not spending time studying. His school behavior is starting to suffer. Sam sees the respect given other gang members as they sell drugs, fight with the other gang, and fight with the police. The older gang member who has protected Sam asks him to occasionally carry a handgun because the older member cannot get caught with a gun again or he’ll go back to prison. Sam agrees to carry the gun.

 1. What is the transmission and pathophysiology of TB?

2. What are the clinical manifestations?

3. After considering this scenario, what are the primary identified medical concerns for this patient?

4. What are the primary psychosocial concerns?

5. What are the implications of the treatment regimen, as far as likelihood of compliance and outcomes? Search the Internet to research rates of patient compliance in treatment of TB, as well as drug resistant TB.

6. Identify the role of the community clinic in assisting patients, particularly undocumented patients, in covering the cost of TB treatment. What resources exist for TB treatment in community health centers around the United States? Compare the cost for treatment between, subsidized as it would be for a community health center, and unsubsidized.

7. What are the implications of TB for critical care and advanced practice nurses?

Part 3: Primary Care

A 29-year-old single, sexually active woman reporting that she is in a monogamous relationship, has experienced five attacks of acute cystitis in the past year, all characterized by dysuria, increased frequency, and urgency. Each case was diagnosed on the basis of the clinical picture and a laboratory finding of bacteriuria. The urine bacterial counts in these cases ranged from 104 to 106 organisms/ml. Lab tests indicated that the third and fourth infections were caused by Escherichia coli, while the fifth infection was caused by an enterococcus and the second infection was caused by Proteus mirabilis. Each infection responded to short-term treatment with trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole. The recurrences occurred at intervals of 3 weeks to 3 months following completion of antibiotic therapy. For the past two days, the woman has once again been experiencing dysuria, increased frequency, and urgency, so she goes to see her nurse practitioner provider. Her vital signs are T = 37.6°C, P = 100, R = 18, and BP = 110/75 mm Hg. Physical examination reveals a mild tenderness to palpation in the suprapubic area, but no other abnormalities. A bimanual pelvic examination reveals a normal-sized uterus and adnexae with no apparent adnexal tenderness. No vaginal discharge is noted. The cervix appears normal.

Questions:

1. What is the differential diagnosis for this set of symptoms? What is your preliminary diagnosis?

2. What tests should you order to confirm your preliminary diagnosis?

3. What are the possible causes of recurrent lower UTIs? Which of these is most likely in this case?

4. When would you collaborate with other professionals and refer your patient to a specialist and why?

5. Please support with up-to-date evidence-based standard of care guidelines.

Please review My Power point and assist with adding notes to notes section and adding suggestions to make it better

You have been hired as the manager for a new clinical lab company in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The lab is a nonprofit that serves low-income patients in the downtown area. The lab is in the process of setting its fees-for-services on individual services. The clinic director has estimated fixed costs of $436,000, a volume of 18,500 tests, and variable cost rate of $19.

She has asked you to prepare a PowerPoint presentation for the lab’s board of directors, explaining variable and fixed costs for healthcare services in the lab. Prepare a 7 to 10 slide PowerPoint that explains the following items.

  • Figure the price breakeven for the clinic.
  • List and explain fixed costs that the lab will have.
  • List and explain variable costs per visit that the lab will encounter.
  • The board will need to be aware that pricing may change if estimated costs are not accurate. If fixed costs end up being $397,500, how will the price breakeven change?
  • Explain how these pricing or volume changes may affect the lab.

Use your imagination or do whatever research is necessary to come up with some of the fixed and variable costs to present to the board. Feel free to use any graphics or images in your project that you feel would enhance the presentation. You are required to use the Notes section of PowerPoint to explain information on the slides to the board. You are required to use at least your textbook for the assignment.

Be sure to cite any sources used and include a reference slide with proper APA formatting.
