Community teaching plan

the benchmark assesses the following competencies:

3.3 Provide individualized education to diverse patient populations in a variety of health care settings.

The RN to BSN program at Grand Canyon University meets the requirements for clinical competencies as defined by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), using nontraditional experiences for practicing nurses. These experiences come in the form of direct and indirect care experiences in which licensed nursing students engage in learning within the context of their hospital organization, specific care discipline, and local communities.

Based on the feedback offered by the provider, identify the best approach for teaching. Prepare a presentation based on the Teaching Work Plan and present the information to your community.

The IPAT model

he IPAT model is a formula used to calculate the environmental impact on the environment caused by humans.  It is described as I = P x A x T.  The environmental impact is represented by the (I) in the equation.  There are three main factors that influence the impact, and those factors include the (PAT) portion of the equation, which stands for Population, Affluence, and Technology.  For this assignment, you will research a country of interest and use the country’s data to make an argument for which would have the highest Environmental Impact or (I), as part of the IPAT model.

 • Research a country of interest and make a claim for its potential environmental impact. Use multiple pieces of supporting evidence in your claim considering Population, Affluence, and Technology advancements. You do not need to use actual calculations but should consider the data for your chosen country. • Use the data found to discuss the three factors that affect the country’s Environmental Impact (I), which are: Population of a Country (P), Affluence (A), and Technology (T). Include at least two (2) facts/evidence for each. • Discuss Population in terms of size, Affluence in terms of wealth or economy, and Technology as the country’s phase pf development or use and production of modern technologies. • Make a concluding argument for which of the three factors would have the highest Environmental Impact (I), as part of the IPAT model. Provide at least two (2) facts/pieces of evidence in your argument. Requirements: • Provide multiple pieces of supporting evidence in your claims, using at least two (2) scholarly resources. • Include all references and citations formatted correctly in APA. • Paper should be one to three pages in length, with additional Title and Reference pages. • Use complete sentences and appropriate grammar and spelling.

Advocates speak on behalf of other people whose voices are not heard by the wider community and government. Advocates work with policy-makers, legislative bodies, and healthcare organizations to solve the needy population’s proposed problems and alternatives. It is a nurse’s role to speak up for the patients, fellow nurses, and the profession. Nurses can advocate for children, the mentally ill, and those less informed about health care policies and individual rights. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics states that “The nurse promotes, advocates for, and protects the patient’s rights, health, and safety.” Nurses can advocate for nurses by involving legislators such as Congressmen and women, arranging marches, and engaging healthcare organizations that fight for patients’ rights Regis (College, n.d.). To effectively advocate for patients, nurse leaders should first evaluate patients’ needs, personal values, and their level of awareness. Secondly, they should identify patient goals such as choices of treatment options. The leaders should then set advocacy plans that involve different members of the healthcare team. After engaging all stakeholders, the leaders should evaluate the advocacy results by taking into account patient satisfaction. Examples of advocacy include advocacy with the medical facility, the legal system, families, and the community.

There are several strategies that a leader can used to create positive change in the workplace. The one strategy I find interesting is understanding behavior. Nursing is a stressful job, and stress is handled differently from person to person. A leader that takes the time to understand what makes a staff member tick can go a long way. Dealing with stress is not a one size fit all solution, and it should be tackled at an individual level. Helping a co-worker to find their “trigger” points can help them manage their reactions and responses more appropriately. One way to understand behavior is have team members answer a Belvin assessment. This assessment examines what roles a person brings to the workplace, how they fit with the team, and the contribution of roles to the team. The nine team roles than can be identified are plant (creativity), resource investigator, coordinator, shaper, team worker, implementer, completer finisher, specialist, monitor evaluator. The purpose of this evaluation is to understand a preferred role and explain why we relate well to some people and have conflicts with others. Also, it helps us to understand our strengths and weaknesses (Middleton, NA).

Electronic Record-Keeping in Healthcare

Electronic Record-Keeping in Healthcare

For this week’s assignment you will be taking an inventory of the information systems in your organization. To complete the assignment, you might need to contact other departments. Based on what you have learned so far in this course, create a 15-20 slide PowerPoint presentation that addresses each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Use clear headings that allow your professor to know which bullet you are addressing on the slides in your presentation. Support your content with at least three (3) scholarly citations using APA citations throughout your presentation. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the presentation. Include a slide for your references at the end. Follow best practices for PowerPoint presentations related to text size, color, images, effects, wordiness, and multimedia enhancements. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

  1. Differentiate between electronic health record (EHR), electronic medical record (EMR), and personal health record (PHR)
  2. Differentiate between clinical information systems (CIS) and administrative information systems (AIS)
  3. What systems are currently being utilized at your organization?
  4. If you had to rate the information-technology status of your organization, what score would you give them?
  5. Identify two strength and two weaknesses of the current information-technology being used.

Assignment Expectations-

Length: 15-20 slides in length, not including title, objective, or reference slides. Speaker notes are required to explain the information presented in the slides.

Structure: Include a title slide, objective slide, content slides, reference slide in APA format.  Title/Objective/Reference slides do not count towards the minimum slide count for this assignment.

References: Use the appropriate APA style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions. Include at least three (3) scholarly sources to support your claims.

Rubric: This assignment uses a rubric for scoring. Please review it as part of your assignment preparation and again prior to submission to ensure you have addressed its criteria at the highest level.

Format: Save your assignment as a Power Point document (.ppt or .pptx) or a PDF document (.pdf

Module 05 Ethics Project – Presentation

This week, your assignment is going to be pieced together. You have created a business, identified trending issues, identified possible other ethical issues and done your best to get all of your employees on board.

All that is left is the presentation itself. For your submission this week you are asked to put together a PowerPoint presentation for your employees with accompanying/corresponding presenter notes for your reader. The PowerPoint slide presentation itself will include what is ethically expected of your employees on a day to day basis, all identified trending issues from Module 02, and all identified possible issues from Module 03 and guidance on what actions employees should be taking in these ethical dilemmas.

Given the fact that you are not presenting this PowerPoint and because a PowerPoint cannot present itself, you are asked to include accompanying “reader/presenter” notes in the notes section below each slide. These are the key notes that describe, explain and teach what the slide is trying to convey. Please note that a PowerPoint is not generally wordy and paragraphs should not be included on a slide. The slide itself is used as a visual for the audience and the notes section, which would be read by the presenter, is where the substance comes in.

Keep in mind it is HR’s job to expose all dilemmas that may plague their company or employees and adequately educate all employees so these concerns are not encountered in the workplace.

Your PowerPoint must be creative and a minimum of 10 slides not including the introduction or the reference slide.

Submit your completed assignment to the drop box below. Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates.

Week discussion!!

Case Scenario:

Mr. Kasich is a 77-year old who was recently taken to the emergency room after he fell when trying to get out of bed. There, he was found to have a blood glucose level of 35 milligrams per deciliter and was diagnosed with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypoglycemia despite many years of well-maintained the blood glucose levels. After further assessment, Mr. Kasich was transferred to a medical room in the hospital. His background includes diagnosed with type two diabetes mellitus, advanced congestive heart failure and lung cancer. Has Medicare parts A and B. Lives with wife in a remote area that is 40 miles from the closest healthcare provider. Is proficient using his home computer. Mr. Lane is a 42-year old who was admitted for exacerbation of heart failure. His background includes has diabetes mellitus type two. Is a long-haul truck driver with a large trucking company. Is privately insured. Is single and primarily lives in his truck. Both Mr. Kasich and Mr. Lane are going home with telehealth consisting of a telemonitoring device that transmits weight, blood pressure, blood glucose levels and pulse oximetry to a remote telehealth nurse. Even though the use of telehealth does not often include hands on interaction, the goal of keeping patients out of a hospital is consistent with quality nursing practice. Telehealth applications are designed to enhance the patient experience and improve clinical outcomes while providing care for patients in their home environment rather than an institutional setting. Telehealth supports self-care by empowering patients, which is a central tenet of nursing practice.

Review the case scenario above and address the following.

  • Discuss how telehealth can assist to address equality of health care resource distribution. What barriers must be removed to achieve well-being, sufficiency, and health care access for all?
  • In your discussion, consider concepts such as equity, respect, self-determinism, health literacy, cyclic disadvantage, and health care disparities among marginalized populations or groups.
  • Compare and contrast how each patient may benefit from telehealth services and the ethical considerations from the viewpoint of the nurse

data structures – response

Please respond to the following discussion with 150 words or more:

When considering computer science then the data structure is considered  to be a data organization as well as storage format which enables  efficient access as well as a modification which would mostly depend on  data structure and meant for building relationships with those as well  as with those of function or operation which would apply to the data.
The  data structure role in programming is meant for use to storing the data  in a specific, efficient yet organized manner and some of the use of  data structure would require the array, stack, queue, linked list, tree,  etc, where a programmer could help in selecting specific data structure  and then using it as per their convenience.
Some of the basic  applications which are the candidates for the data structure are being  used for implementing the physical forms of the abstract data types  which could help in translating any kind of application like displaying  the relational database as that of the binary tree wherein the  programming language like data structure would be used for organizing  the code as well as information in digital space.
The major  advantages of that of Array List over that of an array are while the  real world is taken into consideration and this would be appended  dynamically wherein the ArrayList would not have a defined memory  allocation similar to the normal array while they have been declared  which could be appended with regards to runtime and hence this would  save any un-utilized memory usage by that of the program.
One would prefer one with respect to the working mechanism while mostly one would use an array list

Community Health Issues

The top health concern(s) for your community. (COVID19, vaccinations,  substance abuse) Please focus your attention on the unique tools that nurses who work in the community utilize to care for populations, including the Intervention Wheel.

Please listen to Dr. Attia’s Ted Talk in the resources for this week and then respond to the following questions:

https://www.ted.com/talks/peter_attia_is_the_obesity_crisis_hiding_a_bigger_problem/up-next

Pick a top health issue in your community and describe some ways in which a nurse might improve this issue at the population level. Are the problems that your colleagues are sharing the same as you are seeing in your communities, or are they different? Help each other consider different aspects of intervention(s) at the system and community levels of care to address health problems in their own communities. Consider Dr. Attia’s profound message as you respond to your peers and think outside the box.

  • Briefly describe your community and then describe your practice setting.
  • What are the determinants of health in your community? (https://www.healthypeople.gov/2020/about/foundation-health-measures/Determinants-of-Health)
  • What are the most prevalent health problems in your community or in your practice?
  • Choose a population at risk and describe the health problem specific to that population. Remember that you will have to define the population’s age, culture, religious beliefs, foods, and traditions eventually as your project progresses.
