In the United States (US), nursing turnover is a major challenge in the nursing industry with an averege turnover rate of about 14%  for registered nurses (Lindley & Cozad, 2017).  According to the American Hospital Association, 75% of all vacant positions are for registered nurses (Patricia, Sean, Jeannie, & Rosaly, 2004). The United States Department of Health and Human Services projects that the nursing shortage will soon reach a critical stage that will impact negatively on the healthcare industry  (Lindley & Cozad, 2017).  Nursing shortage has been adduced to a number of factors. Specifically, social factors and government policy have immensely contributed to the issue of nursing shortage and turnover. Government policy on the philosophy of free-market economy without adequate consideration for the assessment and compensation for quality care, the complex recruitment methods of new nurses and nurses

Competing Needs

Aging Population: Studies have reported that the United States has the largest number of nurses 65 years and over currently. This is coupled with a generally ageing population implies the need for more nurses to cope with this (Haddad et al, 2020).

Aging Work Force: The nurses are also becoming older like the populations they serve, the nursing workforce is also aging. By implication, one-third of the nursing workforce could be at retirement age in the next 10 to 15 years (Haddad et al, 2020)..

Nurse Burnout: High rate of burnout and job dissatisfaction is another competing need. Turnover in nursing seems to be leveling off, but only after years of steady climbing in rates. Currently, the national average for turnover rates is 8.8 % to 37.0%, depending on geographic location. (Haddad et al, 2020).

Growth: The high rate of job growth means a higher need is required seen in areas that have high retirement populations (Haddad et al, 2020)..

Competing Needs from the Economic Angle

Static Economic Shortages: This is based on the principle of demand and supply. Specifically nursing shortage depends on nurse availability in the face of actual budgeted slots at particular wage rates.  In a static economic shortage, the health organization has a budgeted position available but is unable to find suitable qualified candidate for employment at the wage being offered. That is, there is a shortage because the actual demand for nurses exceeds the actual supply of nurses who are available and willing to take these positions (Goldfarb, 2008).

Dynamic Economic Shortages: In this instance, demand and supply are equal, but suddenly the demand rises. Suppose that wages rise enough in response to call forth a sufficient increase in the number of nurses being supplied. The initial demand increase will then be met by rising supply (in response to the higher wage) and a moderating of the initial rise in demand because the higher wage makes adding nurses more expensive (Goldfarb, 2008).

How Policy Might Address These Competing Needs

Another important competing need is having adequate data on nursing. The question is: are nursing shortfalls large compared to other occupations. There is the need for organizations, policy makers and other stakeholders to have adequate data on nurse vacancy. A policy is required that will be driven in the direction of training enough nurses that will address the problem of nursing shortage in the US.

One of the most important components of a lesson plan is the instructional strategies used to deliver the lesson. This lesson plan will focus in the content area of number and operations.

How did the instructional strategies you chose promote student engagement and motivation in mathematics? Explain how you identified opportunities to use digital tools or resources in teaching major mathematical concepts and real-world problem solving.

As stated in the project description, research is at the core of psychology practice whether you conduct it yourself or apply evidence-based strategies and techniques in your professional practice. After developing your vision “My Personal Vision Statement—“My career as a Cognitive Behavior Counselor began in 2003 when I was promoted with the Michigan Department of Corrections. After an extensive training for the Thinking for a Change evidence-based program and Substance Abuse Counselor for adult male offenders I realized I found my calling. I re-enrolled in college where I finished my Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and from there a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I took a job for a private provider where I was able to counsel foster children in state custody and after doing that for a couple years I found I wasn’t happy with this career move and that’s when I found my current job as a counselor for Young Adult male offenders with the Tennessee Department of Corrections. My personal vision is to use myself, life experiences, and knowledge to impact positive attitudes with those who may cross my path in life. I wish to inspire and motivate them to discover and develop their true potential and live their lives to the fullest. In order for this vision to be fulfilled, I need to finish m Master’s Degree and gain advance evidence-based training experience so I can become more experienced with my facilitation in this area.  

Creating meaningful goals you created a research question related to your goals and searched the literature for answers—My Research Question “I gathered a couple of insights about depression in my research. One is that some personalities are prone to depression more than others especially the introverts, perfectionists. Depression affects memory especially the part of the memory that deals with tasks like names and places. Depression is also linked to some diseases like heart disease, leads to faster aging and diabetes among others (Elliott, Huizinga & Menard, 2012). TERM PAPER INSTRUCTIONS

This assignment will require you to have already done the Primary Source Analysis. 

This paper should advance a position (thesis/argument) based on a historical topic from our course. You will use at least two (2) sources for this assignment: one will be the primary source you analyzed; and the secondary source must be a journal article from a peer-reviewed journal that you researched and found through the MVC library database. I would use J-Stor for this – it’s a major database for history journals. https://www-jstor-org.dcccd.idm.oclc.org/

The textbook is not a valid source for this assignment and should only be used for context – do not cite or quote from it. When researching the secondary source, make sure that it is historical, written by an historian, and preferably published in a journal of history. Avoid “Reviews,” encyclopedia entries, biographies, and textbooks.

Only use the approved sources mentioned above. A failure to use the primary source will result in an automatic zero. Using randomly Googled websites is discouraged and will also result in a failing grade. The standard rules of Scholastic Dishonesty and Plagiarism apply (see syllabus for more on that).

Be sure to have a clear argument that you defend with relevant evidence. 1)  Begin your paper with a brief analysis of the following elements:

2)  Analyze the nature of organized crime in the assigned area (you may narrow the scope of your analysis through your introduction if needed)

Prepare a 10-17 slide PowerPoint presentation.  Title slide(s) and reference slide(s) do not count toward the slide count. The vast slide count difference is due to the fact that organized crime in some countries are quite easy to study and organized crime in some countries have very limited information.  In some instances there will be a plethora of information and you must use skilled writing to maintain proper slide count. Please keep in mind that this is a doctoral level presentation. Your research must go beyond the mere textbook and have a minimum of 8 scholarly sources.  The Holy Bible should be used at least once in the PowerPoint presentation.  Each slide (of the 10 slides) must have 200 to 350 words of bulleted or paragraph speakers notes (in speaker notes section of the slide build).
