Unit 3 Discussion 1 Manthaa

Resource Discussion Participation Scoring Guide. Riverbend City: Community Organizations. Earlier in the unit, you watched the Riverbend City: Community Organizations mission. In this scenario, you saw the board members of a new non-profit organization as they struggled with issues around their structure, purpose, and role in the community. Proceeding as if you are a member of the Fuerza y Unidad board, respond to the following questions: Are any of the other board members at risk of burn-out? Who and why do you think burn-out could be a problem? How could you help other board members develop and identify their boundaries so that they can continue to help launch this organization? What recommendations do you have for other members of the organization?

Discussion 1

There is only one discussion this week. Your instructor will be choosing the discussion question and posting it as the first post in the discussion forum. The requirements for the discussion this week are a minimum of four posts on four separate days. The total combined word count for all of your posts, counted together, should be over 600 words. Be sure to answer all the questions in the prompt and to read any resources that are required to complete the discussion properly. In order to satisfy the posting requirements for the week, please complete your initial post by Day 3 (Thursday) and your other posts by Day 7 (Monday). We recommend that you get into the discussion early and spread out your posts over the course of the week. Be sure to reply to your classmates and instructor. Try to attempt to take the conversation further by examining their claims or arguments in more depth or responding to the posts that they make to you. Keep the discussion on target and try to analyze things in as much detail as you can. Respond     Having watched the clips on gender and racial stereotyping in media and film, go and find three more examples of gender stereotyping from film or media.  Explain the gender or racial stereotype that is being displayed in the example and how it aligns with improper everyday examples of gender or race. How do you think that our society can move forward to greater levels of equality and less stereotypical thinking?  Do not use the examples that were presented in the required resources for the week.  In addition, do not use the same examples that people have used before you.  Present links to the three examples if you have access to videos or images.

Art III

Art Gallery: Visual Elements For Unit III of your art gallery presentation, you will be adding descriptions of the visual elements you observe in the artworks you placed in your art gallery. The purpose of this unit assignment is to demonstrate that you can apply what you learned about visual elements to your gallery artworks.   Begin by reviewing your Unit II feedback and making any necessary revisions.   Place one Visual Elements slide directly after the artwork it describes.   Next, research the elements using Chapter 3 of your textbook.   Make sure you describe all of the visual elements from Chapter 3. Questions to consider are included below: o Line: Describe what kind of lines are in the artwork (vertical, horizontal, diagonal, thick, thin, etc.). What do the lines do? Do they lead your eye to something? o Shape: Describe what kind of shapes are in the artwork and where they appear. Are there circular shapes in clouds, rectangular shapes in buildings? o Light: Where is the light coming from? What is it highlighting? o Color: What colors are used? Are the colors bright, tints, muted? Are they different shades of one hue? o Texture: Is there a pattern on some area in the artwork? Is there a paint texture such as impasto? o Mass: Is the artwork heavier in one area? o Time: Is there anything in the artwork that gives the sense of time? Is it a daytime or nighttime scene? o Motion: Is motion depicted? Are people walking, running, floating, or climbing toward something?   You must use at least your textbook as an outside source. Be sure to follow APA format for all sources used, including the textbook. When adding your own opinion or observation, you will not need a citation as it is an original thought.   Please submit your full presentation thus far, which should include the previous updated segments and the segment for this unit.   This segment must include a minimum of five PowerPoint slides. To access the art gallery template, an example presentation, and other PowerPoint resources, click on the “Course Resources” link in the course menu bar of Blackboard. MODERNISM/ ART

The main objective of this class is to define and, ultimately, understand what constitutes modern art. Though there are guidelines for what distinguishes modern art, an exact formula has yet to be determined. In fact, many of us have preconceived (and differing) notions of what modern art does or should look like. There is no single, straightforward definition of “modernity.”  We can guess, infer, and opine, in light of our own observations and the facts at hand, but should never presume to have the only, or the correct, answer to this very “slippery” concept. What do you believe are typical characteristics of modern art? Are your original conceptions similar to those described in the initial readings in the textbook? Were you surprised that certain works discussed in the text serve as the initial foundations of modernism?  Did any in particular capture your attention?   If so name the artwork by title, artist and date.  Please also upload a picture of the art using the small icon on the bottom line 3rd from left (small box with landscape).  Copy the image location and then after clicking the icon insert image location url in box and click insert/submit.  The image will help fellow students see the artwork. Here is a video reflection on one work from the Modern Art Movement. Watch Video Why is this art? Intro To Curriculum

In Chapter 2, the author of your text discusses the connection between assumptions and beliefs and the profound effect our perception of these can have on our ability to become effective teachers. As Jaruszewicz (2013) explains, “Your growth as a teacher and your ability to create, manage, and facilitate an environment conducive to powerful learning depends on your willingness to honestly, intentionally, and regularly identify, examine, and revise your assumptions as needed” (section 2.4, para. 6). Reflecting on Jaruszewicz’s assertion about teacher growth and effectiveness, this discussion provides you with an opportunity to start creating your curriculum philosophy by comparing and contrasting your beliefs to curriculums seen in today’s early childhood classrooms.    Initial Post: First, complete the Reflection & Decision Making Matrix. Attach your completed matrix to your discussion post by clicking the paperclip icon to add an attachment. Second, based on your completed matrix, create a curriculum philosophy statement. Your philosophy statement must be at least one paragraph, include at least one strategy you can use to effectively educate young children and be supported by at least one scholarly resource.      ECE203: Reflection & Decision Making Matrix   Purpose: Students use this matrix as a resource for the Week One Discussion 1 in ECE203 to develop a personal curriculum philosophy.   Instructions: Each of the questions below, when reflected on as a whole, can represent a brief philosophical statement. Think carefully about how to answer each for that reason. “Consider how your values and assumptions about families, the way you were raised, and your own experiences with education might influence the way you answer the questions.      Purpose: Students use this matrix as a resource for the Week One Discussion 1 in ECE203 to develop a personal curriculum philosophy.   Instructions: Each of the questions below, when reflected on as a whole, can represent a brief philosophical statement. Think carefully about how to answer each for that reason. “Consider how your values and assumptions about families, the way you were raised, and your own experiences with education might influence the way you answer the questions. As you reflect on the information presented in this chapter and continue to do your own research about curricula that interest you, propose answers to each of the questions from the perspective of the curriculum developers. As you look across the chart, you should be able to see how one curriculum compares with another, and with your own beliefs.” (Jaruszewicz, 2012, Section 2.4).       Questions: My Beliefs: Curriculum A: Curriculum B: Curriculum C: What is the purpose of early childhood education?         What are young children like and how do they learn?         Who participates in early childhood education and what are their roles?         What’s worth knowing? What should children learn?         How might the curriculum be implemented and acted out?

Academic Interventions For EBD Students

Review the “Geometry Lesson Plan” and “Small Group Guided Reading Lesson Plan” to inform this assignment. For each lesson plan, compose a 250-500 word reflection addressing the following: When reviewing the lesson plan, do you see any concerns that may arise concerning students with EBD? Identify and evaluate academic monitoring strategies to be used with EBD students. Provide a minimum of two additional learning strategies and possible behavioral interventions specific to each lesson plan. Investigate and evaluate cognitive interventions necessary for effectively teaching students with EBD. How do these interventions align to student needs within the lessons? Support your findings with a minimum of two scholarly resources.
