Case Study  Instructions:

Read the following case study and answer the reflective questions.

Please provide rationales for your answers.

Make sure to provide citations/references for your answers in APA format.

CASE STUDY: Preschool Child:

Ricky Ricky, age 4 years, arrives in the clinic with his mother. Ricky lives with his mother and father, who both work full-time, and his infant sister. Their extended family lives in a different state more than 100 miles away. Both parents are of average height and in good health. Ricky’s mother mentions that Ricky often expresses frustration, particularly in regard to food. Conflict over food occurs every day. Mealtime is a battle to get him to eat, unless his mother feeds him. Ricky’s baby sister seems to tolerate all baby foods but requires her mother to spoon-feed. Ricky’s mother is quite frustrated and concerned that he will become malnourished.

Reflective Questions

1. What additional assessment information would you collect?

2. What questions would you ask, and how would you further explore this issue with the mother?

3. In what ways does the distance of the extended family influence this family’s approach to health promotion?

4. What factors would you consider to determine whether malnourishment is a factor in this family?

Scenario – Audit Time Budget Pressur

Rehab after completing her bachelor’s degree in Accounting has joined the CPA firm ACE Auditing & Consultancy Services as an Audit Trainee on 01st July 2020. Rehab has been assigned to the audit of Star LLC. The audit supervisor Jawahar was informing Rehab that she is taking more time in completing the audit work assigned to her and because of her delay the audit team is facing with the problem to complete the audit within the budgeted time period.

Last week the partner in charge of the firm – Mr. Waleed have asked Rehab to meet him in his office. During the meeting, the following conversation took place:

Mr. Waleed: Rehab, the reason why I asked you to see me is the time record sheet. We found that your time record sheet indicate that it takes you 50 percent longer time to complete the audit work than the other colleagues in your audit team.

Rehab: I understand, but Mr Waleed, I just joined three months before and still learning on the job.

Mr. Waleed: That’s true, but you know that we have fixed budget for this audit. Every hour you spend more than the budgeted time will cost money for the firm. If this continues, we must bill extra to the client whose audit you work on, which the client will be reluctant accept. We do not want to lose our clients.

Rehab: I do understand Mr. Waleed, However, it is taking more time than I expected too. If I am to cut down the time it will affect the quality of the audit as I am unable to reconcile in the given short period.

Mr. Waleed: I would never compromise the quality of our audit. I am trying to figure out why it takes you so much longer than other staff members.

Rehab: If this is the case, am I allowed take some of the work home at night and on weekends, complete it. This will not charge the firm or the client for the extra time I am spending on the audit.

Mr. Waleed was surprised by the Rehab’s openness. He valued the character of Rehab, but he could not provide an answer as ‘yes’ for Rehab’s request. He concluded the meeting by stating that it is Rehab’s call to decide on how to increase her productivity on audits. As her progress on the discussed matter decides her future with the firm.

With the effort to deal with the problem, Rehab approached Muna, one of the senior auditors in her team and asked whether Muna had faced such problem. Muna stated, ‘Yes Rehab, I

initially found it difficult to complete my work within the budgeted time. Later, I handled it by ghost ticking. (Documenting audit procedures that have not been completed is called the ‘Ghost ticking’). Further she insisted Rehab to do the same to overcome the problem as no one will be watching.

Assume you are in the position of Rehab; Explain how you would be reacting to the situation in the given scenario.

Your report should:

i. Discuss your (Rehab’s) ethical obligation as an Audit Trainee,

ii. Evaluate using the ethical theories (consequential, non-consequential and virtue), whether to take work home to complete and not to charge for the job or to involve in ghost ticking

iii. Discuss your approach in explaining your stance to Mr. Waleed in your next meeting with him regarding the problem in the given scenario.

Case Study Instructions

You will write a 4–5-page paper in current APA format that focuses on 2 case studies from each week’s reading. Each paper must include at least 4 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. Each week there is a different set of cases for you to review. You must review them separately following the instructions below:

Module/Week 7:

Review the following 2 cases separately.

· In re: Zappos.com, Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation

· Verizon v. FCC

  1. State the facts of the case
    • What       happened in this case?
    • Who       are the parties?
    • What       motivated the parties to take this action?
    • List       the facts by level of importance.
  2. Discuss      the Issue:  Discuss the issues or      problems presented by the case. The legal issue is the question of law on      which resolution of the case turns. An issue should be presented in the      form of a question. While most cases revolve around a legal issue, you      should also consider issues of public policy, values in conflict, and      practical reality. For example, a case study involving abortion might      involve the following issues:
    • Legal:       Is abortion legal? If so, under what circumstances?
    • Public       Policy: Should abortion be legal? Why or why not?
    • Values       in Conflict: Which value is more important, a woman’s right to privacy or       an unborn child’s right to life? Why?
    • Practical:       What are the options open to someone faced with an unwanted pregnancy?       Where can someone in this situation go for help and advice?

3. Discuss the Arguments:  Now that you have defined the facts and issues, develop and discuss the arguments that can be made for each of the various points of view. For example, what are the arguments, both Pro and Con, for each point of view, which side provides the most compelling argument, and why, and what are the consequences?

  1. Conclusion:  Each of these cases has a court ruling. Do you      agree with the court’s decision (why or why not?). From a Christian      prospective, how does this decision impact Christianity and society? If      the impact is negative, what recommendations would you make to overcome      that impact?

Legal Aspects of US Health Care System Administration

Assignment 1: Legal Aspects of U.S. Health Care System Administration
Due Week 4 and worth 100 points

Prevailing wisdom reinforces the fact that working in U.S. health care administration in the 21st Century requires knowledge of the various aspects of health laws as they apply to dealing with medical professionals. Further, because U.S. health care administrators have to potentially interact with many levels of professionals beyond the medical profession, it is prudent that they are aware of any federal, state, and local laws that may be applicable to their organizations. Thus, their conduct is also subject to the letter of the law. They must evaluate the quality of their professional interactions and be mindful of the implications and ramifications of their decisions.

You are employed as a top health administrator at the hypothetical Well Care Hospital in Happy Town. When you were hired, your pre-employment screening involved background checks into any violation of hospital medical misconduct during the last five (5) years. The results showed that you were in good standing with the hospital administration community. During the past year, you had to undergo training in personnel conduct, as well as in inter-employee conduct with medical staff, nurses, technologists, etc. During the past six (6) months, the hospital has been under scrutiny for breach of medical compliance.

Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

1. Articulate your position as the top administrator concerned about the importance of professional conduct within the health care setting. Justify your position.

2. Ascertain the major ramifications of having professional staff compromise the boundaries of ethics and medical conduct.

3. Analyze the four (4) elements required of a plaintiff to prove medical negligence.

4. Discuss the overarching duties of the health care governing board in mitigating the effects of medical non-compliance, as they apply to the rules of practice set forth in the Well Care Hospital governing board’s manifesto.

5. Use at least five (5) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not quality as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

· Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

· Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

· Describe the sources of law in America, the relative legal procedure, and the related court system.

· Examine the various applications of the law within the health care system.

· Use technology and information resources to research issues in health care policy, law, and ethics.

· Write clearly and concisely about health care policy, law, and ethics using proper writing mechanics.

Bibliography

Curiosity Proposal and Annotated Bibliography

The purpose of writing a proposal is to collect your thoughts about what you want to include in your essay/study/presentation, what you want to emphasize, and how to go about doing both of those.

Write both the proposal and the annotated bibliography in the format you will use in your final essay/study/presentation.

The requirements of this proposal entail:

  • Defining the topic: What did you learn about what you always wanted to know?
  • Defining the focus (summarize in 1-2 sentences the following): How did you narrow down what you always wanted to know? What aspect of this topic did you focus on and why?

Your proposal should be one paragraph in length.

The requirements of this proposal entail:

The purpose of an annotated bibliography is evaluate the sources you have researched and will probably use in your essay. See this video (Links to an external site.) on what an annotated bibliography is.

The requirements of the annotated bibliography entail evaluating the sources you have researched in annotated bibliographic form, including:

  • a brief (one to two sentences) summary of the piece
  • a discussion of why this particular source is applicable to your essay/study/presentation
  • citing these sources in the style required by the discipline which your topic falls under. The most popular document styles are:
    • APA format for topics that fall under psychology, sociology, health, or nursing
    • MLA format for topics that fall under the humanities, such as literature, art, music, theater, or dance
    • Chicago Manual of Style format for historical topics
    • Google the documentation style used for other disciplines

Your annotated bibliography should contain any potential sources you may use, even if you ultimately decide not to use them in your essay.

Stranger Sequence prep#1

OPTION A: BEING “PROVOCATIVE” OR “CONFRONTATIONAL”: Sometimes a stranger comes into a village and just tries to get along. In other situations, a stranger arrives and has a strong and often accusatory message to deliver to the village. And at times the “stranger” and the “villagers” remain in a state of confusion and hesitation. Please refer to some of our recent texts and explain how authors describe their own choices about getting along and/or about being “confrontational.”

OPTION B: BEING AN “OUTSIDER” OR A “DIVIDED CHILD”: We previously read two texts about President Obama, and in these texts he used both of these terms while describing himself. What might these terms mean? How have different artists and writers sensed that are not quite part of a certain group or place–or that they may indeed have some connection to more than one group or place or language? How have they tried to understand and express their conflicts or questions about this situation?

Choose ONE of these options. Please submit a post of at least 250 words by midnight on Thursday, May 6th.

If you quote from a poem, I expect that you will try your best to use the proper format. See the handout and/or BB link about “Quoting a Poem.” It is worth 4 points.
