Research Questions, Scope, Case, and Charter Assignment

Phase 1 and Phase 2 documents are for reference

To complete this phase of your course project, you will need to submit 3 documents:

1. A Microsoft Word document that includes the Research Questions (RQs) & Objectives and Scope Statement

2. Business Case Template

3. Project Charter Template

Introduction

The first document (RQs and Scope) must be at least 2 pages of text, answers all the items listed below, follows current APA format, contains a title page, reference page with a minimum of 2 peer-reviewed sources, and an appendix section if needed for non-textual items.

1. Research Questions (RQs) & Objectives

Formulating your RQs and Objectives normally begins by creating a main RQ and then breaking the main RQ down into more detailed RQs (narrowing the topics—general beginnings to RQs are listed below to help you get started).

RQ 1: What are the purposes of developing…

RQ 2: What activities are most important…

RQ 3: What are the most important properties…

RQ 4: What are the most prominent relationships…

In order to answer the RQs, you need to develop your research objectives. Objectives are statements (not questions) of what you intend to do to find the answer to your research question; the successive steps you need to take in order to answer your RQs. Your objectives form the basis of your methodology (applying a particular approach or set of approaches to solving your problem) and are written using action-words oriented towards an outcome (general objectives are listed below).

To develop a solution

To design the solution

To implement the solution

To assess its impact

· Write 1 to 3 detailed RQs

· Write 1 to 3 feasible and specific objectives stating the steps needed to answer your RQs

2. Scope/Deliverables – 2 Pages

Writing a scope statement outlines the project’s deliverables and identify the constraints. Furthermore, it discusses the assumptions and key success factors of the project. Finally, the well-written scope statement clearly defines the boundaries of a project; thus, the project team and the project stakeholders need to agree to the scope statement before project execution.

· Scope Statement–state the scope of the project

o Scope should be narrow, specific, and feasible—able to accomplish the project in the allotted timeframe.

· List the functional business requirements (features/elements to be included in the new system or list the additional elements that you believe must be created, changed, or modified to the existing system).

Note: Requirements should be feasible and within the parameters of completing during the timeframe of this course.

· List the nonfunctional business requirements.

· Describe the system features/elements.

· Analyze why the system needs these features/elements (ex: more user-friendly).

3. Business Requirements Section

o Functional business

o Nonfunctional business

Separate documents:

4. Business Case

The business case briefly states the reasons for starting a project or task. Use the provided template Business Case Template to complete this assignment. All sections of the Business Case Template must be completed; some information from your project proposal can be used here.

5. Project Charter

The project charter officially announces and authorizes the existence of the project. Use the provided Charter Template to complete this assignment. All sections of the Charter Template must be completed; some information from your project proposal can be used here.

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

Land Ackknowledgment

Land Acknowledgement

“Life on the Planet has sustained itself for billions of years by continually regenerating itself. Our modern industrial culture has interfered with these natural processes to the point of causing massive extinctions of species and threatening our very survival. This [incites]… the important discussion of the worldview and value system we need to redesign; our businesses, economies, and technologies — in fact, our entire culture — so as to make them regenerative rather than destructive.”
Fritjof Capra, author of The Web of Life, coauthor of The Systems View of Life: A Unifying Vision.

Part I. Land acknowledgement

Write a land acknowledgement recognizing the first peoples of South Florida. Here is an example: https://nativegov.org/our-story/the-land-we-are-on/

Research the land in your region (South Florida): Ecosystems (terrestrial and marine), cultural and heritage sites, natural resources, local flora and fauna, and protected parks. Create a visual with text that illustrates your local ecosystems, first peoples, and heritage.

For example: “The biome of the Sahara Desert, for instance, includes a wide variety of ecosystems. The arid climate and hot weather characterize the biome. Within the Sahara are oasis ecosystems, which have date palm trees, freshwater, and animals such as crocodiles. The Sahara also has dune ecosystems, with the changing landscape determined by the wind. Organisms in these ecosystems, such as snakes or scorpions, must be able to survive in sand dunes for long periods of time. The Sahara even includes a marine environment, where the Atlantic Ocean creates cool fogs on the Northwest African coast. Shrubs and animals that feed on small trees, such as goats, live in this Sahara ecosystem” (“Ecosystems”).

In addition, include threats to our ecosystem (at least 5 examples), and most importantly, what are possible solutions for these systems to rebound.

 Questions to Ask During Screening

Assessing the patient should be done holistically. This is the first visit in 4 years since she last had access to healthcare and therefore a comprehensive assessment is needed. In addition to concentrating on the reason for the visit (abdominal and pelvic pain), other body systems should also have evaluated and screened to ensure that she does not have any other problems with the goal of disease prevention and health promotion. The questions should be appropriate for her age, gender, and socioeconomic class. Confidentiality of the patient is quite important during the assessment because she needs a conducive environment to be able to open up about serious health issues such as mental health, abuse, and sexual health. The questions I would ask in relation to her chief complaint include; Where is the pain located? Has it been gradual or sudden? Is it centralized or it radiates to other areas? When was your LMP? how would score the pain on a scale of 10? Have you been taking any medications for the pain? Are you currently using any contraceptives? Do you have time for exercise after work? How safe are you from abuse both at home and at work? Have you experienced any physical or emotional abuse?

Summary of Clinical findings

Ms. Bell chief complaints are abdominal and pelvic pain. She complaints of pain during sexual intercourse and even admits to trying to avoid it. The last period was last month and she is not on any contraceptives. The patient has also been having nausea, vomiting, and constipation. The last pap smear was done 4 years ago results were abnormal but due to financial and time constraints, never went for a follow-up. She additionally mentions having a lot of anxiety and has been under a lot of stress which suggests the need to review her mental health. She reports being under numerous psychosocial stressors. She rarely takes alcohol, but her husband is a regular drinker. Upon physical examination of the patient, some tenderness on the mid-epigastric region and lower abdominal area has been noted. Yellow discharge with odor is also noted.

Tests and findings

The tests that Ms. Bell requires are pregnancy test, pap smear, HIV test, and the KOH/saline test which checks for bacterial vaginosis, vaginitis, and trichomonas. A urinalysis test is also crucial for testing UTIs. Due to not using any contraceptives, this is why a pregnancy test is needed. The results indicated that she is her urine test was normal with no UTIs, she was not pregnant but had trichomonas infection.

Diagnoses

The following differential diagnosis will allow making the primary one for Ms. Bell. Gastritis is suspected due to the presence of epigastric pain, constipation, nausea, and increased bloating. The pain is aggravated by stress and sometimes dietary changes. At the same time, there is a possibility of the patient suffering from pelvic inflammatory disease since she indicates having lower abdomen pain aggravated by activity or sexual intercourse, cervical motion tenderness, and menstrual irregularities. The sexual history of both partners and pelvic exams will confirm the diagnosis. Urinary tract infection is suspected due to the presence of lower abdominal pain that is aggravated by sexual intercourse (Perry et al., 2015). The diagnosis was confirmed by the lab test. Finally, she might suffer from vaginitis due to the presence of pelvic pain and vaginal discharge (Perry et al., 2015), which can be confirmed by the lab test.

Among the differential diagnoses mentioned above, the primary one is vaginitis due to the mentioned symptoms. The wet prep lab findings also show the presence of white blood cells and a few motile trichomonas, which is another indication of trichomonas vaginitis.

Management

The pharmacological management is by prescribing a drug for treating trichomonas vaginitis which has been confirmed as she waits for other results. For the pharmacological treatment care plan, metronidazole is prescribed to treat trichomonas vaginitis. Metronidazole dosage is 2g in a single dose or 500mg for 7 days in women found to be HIV positive. The non-pharmacological approach is by educating the patient on ways to protect herself from sexually transmitted diseases. She is advised to bring her husband for treatment to reduce the high risk of reinfection. She is also educated on various birth control methods (Fashner & Alfred, 2015). The presence of bruises indicates that the patient is the victim of domestic violence. Thus, Ms. Bell should learn about the indicators of partner violence, including verbal use, slapping, pushing, kicking, and assaults with or with no weapons since she mentions that they argue with her husband while he is at home.

AMH ESSAY

For this last assignment you will find your own primary source document to analyze.  Chose any protest song you want, from the entire time period of US history we cover (including the present), and write A COMPLETE historical essay on it.

You want to be sure that you pick a song that, not only interests you, but is ALSO one to which you can relate historical details from our readings in some way.  That means, first of all, that it fits into the time frame of our class 1877-present and  that it is a primary source document from American history.  But also, if its a current song about current events, that means,  then, that you should be sure you can match those current issues and events to earlier themes, issues and events from our study of US history and shed a deep light on the songs lyrics from an historical perspective.

Take note, as well, that there are certain songs which have been done so much that they have been permanently retired from our assignment (see below).

If you are picking a song ahead of where we are currently, you will have to look over readings from the Unit covering that part of US history and, obviously, the same goes for songs originating from eras we’ve already covered.

If you choose a current or very recent song, then you will have to make sure you include all the relevant background historical details and specifics that relate to whatever aspect or theme of US history the song relates to and which we’ve studied in class:  that means that, for instance, if you choose a current or recent song related to the historical theme of civil rights, then, in addition to going over the current events that relate to that song, you must also bring in the relevant background material we’ve covered pertaining to the theme of civil rights.

Have fun but don’t loose track of what you need to do in order to generate the maximum points for this important assignment!  You main goal here is to demonstrate you know relevant historical knowledge and can effectively explain it, along with details, facts, dates, etc;  the song itself and you explaining what it says is of only secondary importance to your grade.

This assignment is worth twice as much than the previous one so this is your chance to put together all the things we’ve been working regarding writing an analytical essay and a complete essay so be sure to include any and all things that may have been missing in previous assignment.

Go over the assignment comments and rubric scores from your last essay, the TR Assignment, and make sure you are crystal clear as to what things you will want to make sure you do on this essay that you didn’t do on that assignment.  Take note of them and and then go back over those notes when you finish this essay.

Also, keep in mind that assays are about presenting your work so be sure to put in the necessary prep-work and analysis BEFORE start writing.  The simple truth is that most of your success in an essay is determined before you type your first word.

Be sure to go over and follow the procedure outlined in How to Write an Analytical Essay.  When you look at it notice how writing the essay is the last part and represents only 1/3 of the work you will do for this assignment.  If you try to work out the first two-thirds of your work on the fly, so to speak, while you are writing the essay, doing the last third, your essay will look disorganized and confused to your reader.  Work out your research and analysis before you start writing so you know exactly what it is you are going to do, say, explain and prove in this essay and your essay will be that much clearer and easier to understand for your reader.

To review the basics again regarding Writing a Complete Analytical Essay, your essay must have an introduction paragraph, at least one paragraph for the body and a conclusion paragraph.  The introduction must effectively introduce the documents being examined, as well as establish a main analytical point for your historical essay on the primary source.  These are NOT descriptive essays.

Make sure that you explain the specific historical context of the song in the intro (when it was written, by whom and what specific historical issue it was written about) and establish a main point there for your essay based on your analysis of the song.  Work out and explain what specific historical issues it is engaging and analyze how it engages those issues by examining specific lyrics from the song. Check over the rubric requirements before you submit.

Songs permanently retired from contention (i.e. don’t pick these songs if you want to pass this assignment):

“Brother Can You Spare a Dime””Ohio”, Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young”Fortunate Son”, Creedence Clear Water Revival”A Change is Gonna Come”, Sam Cooke”Eve of Destruction”, Barry McGuire”War”, Edwin Starr”Blowin’ in the Wind”, Bob Dylan”I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die Rag”, Country Joe and the Fish

‘I ain’t Marching Anymore,’ Phil Ochs

‘Give Peace a Chance’ & ‘Imagine’ John Lennon

Description

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, https://essaypandit.com/https-youtu-be-562qgsaerlwif-unable-to-pull-up-video-let-me-know-you-will-ne/ sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

Where does it come from?

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.

Where can I get some?

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn’t anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. https://theeliteessaywriters.com/2021/06/09/1-indicate-some-of-the-concerns-or-cautions-that-need-to-be-considered-when-con/ The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.

The Differences Between Evaluations of Program Process and Program Effects

According to the National Research Council (2005), guidance of policies and practices require evidence about the impacts of such policies and practices. The National Research Council (2005) supported this notion by stating that resources can be allocated for effective programs, which will help policy makers in the development of policies and practices. The process is the first element of program evaluation and is commenced after the need for the program has been established (Vito & Higgins, 2015). It identifies what the program does and if it was properly implemented (Vito & Higgins, 2015). The evaluation of the process serves the purpose of determining whether the program is being implemented the way it was intended and to provide feedback (National Research Council, 2005, Vito & Higgins, 2015). Furthermore, the process evaluation includes the use of qualitative research methods (Vito & Higgins, 2015).

Impact evaluations determine whether a program produced the intended outcomes, and the implementation and evaluation of program effects determine both hypothesized and unintended effects (National Research Council, 2005). For example, which factors were the most effective, which were missed, and could the effects be replicated if the setting were changed (National Research Council, 2005). Thus, the assessment of the effects produced by the program is defined as an impact evaluation, according to the National Research Council (2005).

Vito and Higgins (2015) discussed drug courts as one example of an evaluation of program process. One study conducted by Gummelt and Sullivan (2016) evaluated the effectiveness of the Jefferson County Juvenile Drug Court compared to traditional probation. The researchers hypothesized that criminal activities committed by juveniles who completed drug court would decrease by a statistically significant amount (Gummelt & Sullivan, 2016). Gummelt and Sullivan (2016) found when evaluating the process and the effects, the Jefferson County Juvenile Drug Court was a more effective method to reduce recidivism when compared to traditional probation. Thus, lower recidivism rates can lead to lower costs for the community despite traditional probation being less expensive initially (Gummelt & Sullivan, 2016). The researchers discussed some of the factors that aided effectiveness such as the increased supervision and drug court team contacts (Gummelt & Sullivan, 2016).

Another study conducted regarding the program process and effects of drug courts was a qualitative study conducted by Moore et al. (2017). The researchers conducted nine interviews of offenders who participated in the YouCan program for prescription drug addiction offenders aged 18 to 26, which stemmed from the Pinellas County Adult Drug Court (Moore et al., 2017). The program used a multidisciplinary Matrix model, which included social support groups, educational groups, and individual counseling (Moore et al., 2017). The questions included the decision to participate in the program, perceptions before and after the program, program factors most important to success, and life after the program (Moore et al., 2017). The researchers found that the participants’ perceptions of the program were positive (Moore et al., 2017). The study measured effectiveness based upon the participants’ viewpoints and did not analyze quantitative data regarding the treatment program.

The Bible does not discuss drugs or treatment programs, but the Bible does discuss sin. God expects Christians to recognize man’s sinning nature and turn away from sin. Proverbs 28:13 states, “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy” (The NIV Study Bible, 1995). 1 John 5:17 provides, “All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death” (The NIV Study Bible, 1995).

American Multi-Cinema or AMC is a American owned movie theatre home based in

Leawood, Kansas, and has been around over 100 years.   Beijing based Daltian Wanda Group

giving them the majority stakeholder, giving them the ability to make decisions from the top.

Daltian Wanda Group paid 2.8 billion for the acquisition, and gave them high stake authority

over profits and losses.  In 2018, Silver Lake Partners out of Menlo, California made a $600

million dollar investment.  When asked if AMC would ever get COVID-19 relief, it was stated,

that Daltian Wanda Group would have to  bail out the company, if the Chinese subsidiary agreed

that was the right thing to do. Otherwise, AMC will continue it’s struggle over the pandemic. (Busick, 2019)

General Motors is a American car company based out of Detroit, Michigan, one of the older

companies in America, (Ford is the oldest). While the company isn’t owned by the Chinese, it

does rely on it’s partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. to stay profitable.

Shanghai and GM formed SAIC-GM in 1998, a Chinese brand with a six million square foot

facility in Shanghai.  While GM is still tops for a American made car and truck company, it’s

sales in China help to bring in revenue on a regular basis. (Busick, 2019)

AMERICAN-OWNED COMPANIES

Part 1

Smithfield Foods is one of the companies that was American-owned and later became foreign- owned. The top food processing company and pork producer was founded in 1936 by Smithfield. In 2013, it was acquired by Shanghai International Holdings. The acquisition is estimated at 4.72 billion U.S. dollars and is said to be the largest acquisition of a US company by a Chinese company. Smithfield was very popular with pork and hog products and had established a name for itself in the U.S market. The implication is that the Chinese firm that acquired it was going to benefit immensely from the well-known brand which had a good reputation. Currently, the organization has approximately 50,000 employees and is led by Dennis Organ (Frohlich and Sauter, 2013).

Frigidaire is also an example of an organization whose ownership has shifted from American ownership to Swedish ownership. The company was founded in 1916 and is one of the largest companies in the home appliance industry. The company is a well-known distributor of refrigerator units. It was at first referred to as Guardian Frigerator Co., but after being acquired by General Motors in 1918, its name was changed to Frigidaire. General Motors ran the company until 1979 when it was acquired by White Consolidated Industries. The White Consolidated Industries. This means that the ownership of the company is once again an American, because White Consolidated Industries is an American organization. In 1986, Frigidaire was once again purchased by AB Electrolux, which is the current parent organization. AB Electrolux is a Swedish company. The manufacture of refrigerator units is an important milestone in the field of food preservation, because before that, people were accustomed to relying on refrigerators. The company’s fiercest competitors in the manufacturing of refrigerator units include General Electric as well as Kelvinator. The home appliance industry has made significant progress, and participants in this field are constantly proposing new concepts that will continue to change the way food is preserved (Frohlich and Sauter, 2013).

Hi All,

My process for research is simple to keep the focus on content.  First, I sat and read the rubric and what makes the final project reflect a deep understanding of the concepts and how they are applied.  I have been using steps I learned years ago to help me focus on my goal.  One of Covey’s seven habits thhelps an individual be more effective in life, is to begin with the end in mind (Covey, 2004).  With this step, an individual pictures what the end result of a goal would look like and that helps to form the objectives to reach that goal.  For me, my end goal is success in collaboratively completing a project that would include the elements required and convey a thorough understanding of showcasing our company and applying concepts learned in the course.  The implication is in applying the concepts, understanding and forming a deeper meaning of the concepts will happen so I can apply the concepts in other situations with success.

Then, I brainstormed ways I would gather information.  Being this is a fictitious company, my focus was looking at top companies in the industry.  This is because I needed to find a way to evaluate and measure the components  that must be included in the final project.  One thing I noted is that commonalities that seem basic in each company and that helped me form a framework for elements such as the mission statement and looking at the average annual revenue of global companies.  It also gave me a good view of what sets the companies apart or the competitive advantage.  Next, I formed a T-chart of this information and a graphic organizer so that I had a visual to connect concepts and identify relevant information.  Finally, in my planning, I looked to current, reliable and valid resources that  could help support my contentions.  This includes sources such as company annual reports, 10K report, scholarly sources that discuss operational processes and other value information that support my thesis.

A preliminary outline would be the following:

Hello Class and Dr. Henderson,

Describe the process that you plan to use to conduct research, identify findings, and develop the Comprehensive Project that is due in Unit 5.

The process I plan to use for this project is to use the university library, internet, learning materials, and our text book for identifying findings and conducting research. I will set aside time to do research at least 5 times a week. I have also developed an ongoing chart for listing things from the discussion board I feel are relevant or just great ideas for the project. For example, Micah had a great strategic plan for starting his project.  It was very informative and will be helpful. To develop this project, I feel there is more than just assigning parts of the overall assignment. I feel like brainstorming together would be helpful to begin the project.  It is our company; we have the power to make it whatever we want but we must all be on the same page. Collaboration and communication are the keys to success.

Decision Making Failure

Within two months, Carnival, one of the world’s most famous cruise lines, experienced “troubled waters.” One ship lost power and, as a result, the crew restricted the ability of passengers to go on and off the boat. Another of the cruise line’s ships lost its ability to steer properly and had to be towed to the next destination. In order for the cruise line to redeem itself, it is now offering vacation trips at $38 a night.

Now, using the South University Online Library, research other situations similar to the one described above and provide answers to the following questions:

  • Are discounts enough to satisfy customer demands? Why or why not? Describe what other actions the cruise line can take to assist with rebuilding their reputation and making passengers happy in the future?
  • What led to malfunction of the cruise line? Explain. Use the provided articles and research from two other reputable research sites to support your answer.
  • Did leadership on the cruise line use the right course of action during and after the incidents?
  • Were proper ethical actions used in these instances? Why or why not? Were their actions appropriate from an ethical perspective?
