analisis of a research article.

INTRODUCTIONEvidence-based literature comes from many sources. The discipline of nursing has an abundance of research data and resources to guide clinical decisions. Therefore, it is of pivotal importance to understand the basic tenets of critical appraisal of such evidence for its use in interprofessional healthcare practices.

In this task, you will identify a healthcare problem, develop an evidence-based practice (EBP) question, and review selected research and non-research evidence to find answers to that question.

Note that while you will be analyzing only one research-based and one non-research-based article in this task, an actual evidence-based practice change would require the support of many high-quality research studies.REQUIREMENTS

Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. The originality report that is provided when you submit your task can be used as a guide.

You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

Tasks may not be submitted as cloud links, such as links to Google Docs, Google Slides, OneDrive, etc., unless specified in the task requirements. All other submissions must be file types that are uploaded and submitted as attachments (e.g., .docx, .pdf, .ppt).

A.  Discuss the impact of a clinical practice problem on the patient(s) and the organization it affects.

1.  Identify the following PICO components of the clinical practice problem:

•   patient/population/problem (P)

•   intervention (I)

•   comparison (C)

•   outcome (O)

2.  Develop an evidence-based practice (EBP) question based on the clinical practice problem discussed in part A and the PICO components identified in part A1.

Note:  Refer to “Appendix B: Question Development Tool” for information on the creation of an EBP question.

B.  Select a research-based article that answers your EBP question from part A2 to conduct an evidence appraisal.

1.  Discuss the background or introduction (i.e., the purpose) of the research article.

2.  Describe the research methodology.

3.  Identify the level of evidence using the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) model.

Note: The article you select should not be more than five years old.
Note:  Refer to “Appendix E: Research Evidence Appraisal Tool” for information on how to level a research-based article.

4.  Summarize how the researcher analyzed the data in the article.

5.  Summarize the ethical consideration(s) of the research-based article. If none are present, explain why.

6.  Identify the quality rating of the research-based article according to the JHNEBP model.

Note:  Refer to “Appendix E: Research Evidence Appraisal Tool” for information on how to establish the quality rating.

7.  Analyze the results or conclusions of the research-based article and explain how the article helps answer your EBP question.

C.  Select a non-research article from a peer-reviewed journal that helps to answer your EBP question from part A2 to conduct an evidence appraisal.

1.  Discuss the background or introduction (i.e., the purpose) of the non-research article.

2.  Describe the type of evidence (e.g., case study, quality improvement project, clinical practice guideline).

3.  Identify the level of evidence using the JHNEBP model.

Note: The article you select should not be more than five years old.
Note:  Refer to “Appendix F: Non-Research Evidence Appraisal Tool” for information on how to level the non-research-based article.

4.  Identify the quality rating of the non-research-based article according to the JHNEBP model.

5.  Discuss how the author’s recommendation(s) in the article helps to answer your EBP question.

D.  Recommend a practice change that addresses your EBP question using both the research and non-research articles you selected for Part B and Part C.

1.  Explain how you would involve three key stakeholders in supporting the practice change recommendation.

2.  Discuss one specific barrier you may encounter when implementing the practice change recommendation.

3.  Identify one strategy that could be used to overcome the barrier discussed in part D2.

4.  Identify one outcome (the O component in PICO) from your EBP question to measure the recommended practice change.

E.  Acknowledge sources, using APA-formatted in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.

F.  Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.

Brand Audit

Students will examine the social media content of a Fortune 500 company or nonprofit organization. You will evaluate how the organization uses social media and make suggestions for better use of social media.

More specifics

  1. Analyze online content about your brand. Use Google to find comments, news articles, discussion, and other content that people outside your organization produce. Examples include Google reviews, unofficial Facebook pages, discussion boards, blogs, etc. You are not expected to find everything ever written about your company. However, you should find enough that you are able to provide examples of representative content and provide a brief analysis of the content. For example, how prominent was the content in the search results? Was the content primarily positive or negative? Did you see any evidence that the company responded to the content?
  2. Identify all the social media platforms used by your chosen brand. Apart from the obvious platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.), also look for the brand’s website (and whether it includes online forums or allows comments on site content) and regularly updated content there. Your goal is to identify each social media presence and give examples of how they use each medium. Be thorough.
  3. Perform a social media analysis. Some questions you might want to consider include: How does social media fit within the overall public communication strategy of the brand? How consistent is the brand in its message across the various platforms? What does the brand do particularly well in its communication? What areas of social media could use improvement? Is there evidence of two-way communication, and what is it? Be specific in your observations, analysis, and recommendations. Benchmarking with competitors may be helpful here; perhaps it would put things in context to compare your brand with its peers.

5. Write a report with your findings. Please include a subhead labeling each major section of your report, which should include the following pieces:

  1. Cover page with name of organization, date, and your name.
  2. Online content: Identify examples of the type of content that you found about your organization. Briefly discuss the nature of that content (positive or negative) and provide specific examples. Briefly discuss whether you find any evidence that the organization responds directly. Provide the URL for each item you reference as a footnote in your report. This section should be about 1.5-2 pages of writing
  3. Social media tools: Identify the official channels that your organization uses. Give examples of each. Briefly discuss how frequently the items are updated, how many followers/friends the organization has in various platforms, and what their engagement strategy is (they may or may not be seeking engagement, so explain what characteristics of their posting helps you make that judgment). This section should be about 2 pages of writing
  4. Social media analysis: Analyze how well your brand uses social media by evaluating the information you gathered in the previous sections. Go beyond observation and make recommendations for how to improve your organization’s social media use. Examples may include increased consistency, increased frequency, ways to improve engagement or impact, additional channels to consider depending on target consumers, etc. Your recommendations should be specific. This section should be about 3 pages of writing
  5. Conclusion: Provide a summary of your results and analysis. This should be at least a half-page of writing

Note: You may consider the page counts above as minimums. If you were to address all of the points above adequately, it would be at least 7 double-spaced pages, plus the cover page. Particularly effective reports may include screenshots of items to which you refer, and this would increase the page count. I expect your audit to be in the range of 8-12 pages.

Practicum Experience Plan (PEP)

 PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

ZERO PLAGIARISM

As you establish your goals and objectives for this course, you are committing to an organized plan that will frame your practicum experience in a clinical setting, including planned activities, assessment, and achievement of defined outcomes. In particular, they must address the categories of clinical reasoning, quality in your clinical specialty, and interpersonal collaborative practice.

For this Assignment, you will consider the areas you aim to focus on to gain practical experience as an advanced practice nurse. Then, you will develop a Practicum Experience Plan (PEP) containing the objectives you will fulfill in order to achieve your aims. For this practicum experience, be sure to develop goals and objectives that allow you to synthesize knowledge and skills related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

To Prepare

  • Review your Clinical Skills Self-Assessment Form you submitted last week and think about areas for which you would like to gain application-level experience and/or continued growth as an advanced practice nurse. How can your experiences in the practicum help you achieve these aims?
  • Review the information related to developing objectives provided in this week’s Learning Resources. Your practicum learning objectives that you want to achieve during your practicum experience must be:
    • Specific
    • Measurable
    • Attainable
    • Results-focused
    • Time-bound
    • Reflective of the higher-order domains of Bloom’s taxonomy (i.e., application level and above)
  • Discuss your professional aims and your proposed practicum objectives with your Preceptor to ascertain if the necessary resources are available at your practicum site.
  • Select one nursing theory and one counseling/psychotherapy theory to best guide your clinical practice. Explain why you selected these theories. Support your approach with evidence-based literature.
  • Create a timeline of practicum activities that demonstrates how you plan to meet these goals and objectives based on your practicum requirements.

The Assignment

Record the required information in each area of the Practicum Experience Plan template, including 3–4 measurable practicum learning objectives you will use to facilitate your learning during

Stock Analysis

Objectives

The Course Project provides students with the opportunity to apply technical analysis measurements they learned throughout the course to a stock that trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or the NASDAQ, interpret the data, and make a buy or sell recommendation based on their interpretations

Guidelines

Topic Selection

Each student will, as part of the course requirements, submit a research paper on an individual stock. You must select a stock no later than Sunday of Week 1 for the instructor’s approval. You are allowed to select any stock that trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or NASDAQ. Each week, you should make comments and gather information on your stock relative to the concepts being discussed. Remember that you must submit your paper at the end of Week 7.

Final Paper

Your Final Paper should meet the following criteria.

Structure: The paper should be three to four pages; however, substantial content will be weighted more than length. The content should be in a 12-point Times Roman font.

Content: The paper must include the following five sections.

  • The background of the company with a lifecycle analysis
  • An analysis of Return on Equity
  • The company’s projected future growth rate of earnings
  • An analysis of its required rate of return using the CAPM measurement
  • The company’s intrinsic value using the discount valuation techniques

Describe the competitive forces in the industry, including the company’s relative advantages and disadvantages to its competitors, and include a discussion on ROE as the basis for growth. This analysis should include demographic trends. Do not just state that “GE has grown at 10% in the past and will again in the future.” You should explain why you think that GE can grow 10% (for instance, because you think its products will appeal to a certain demographic that is growing at X%). Given the outcome of your research and technical analysis, you will provide a buy or sell recommendation and estimated price target.

MG495 Unit 1 Homework

The text states that strategic decisions are (1) rare, (2) consequential, and (3) directive. These deal with the long-term future of the entire organization. To aid in the decision making, the authors suggest an eight step decision-making process. Found on page 25 in the text, these include: (1) evaluating current performance results; (2) reviewing corporate governance; (3) scanning and assessing the external environment; (4) scanning and assessing the internal corporate environment; (5) analyzing the strategic factors; (6) generating and selecting the best alternative strategy; (7) implementing selected strategies; and (8) evaluating implemented strategies. These guidelines for making and evaluating decisions at a strategic level can be important for leaders.

Open today’s issue of The Wall Street Journal and look for an article about new moves being made by a corporation, specifically the decisions that are strategic. At what level is each of the decisions that you identified? Functional/Business/Corporate? Why do you believe this to be the case? What is your assessment of these decisions? Will they be effective? Why? How have you decided this?

You are to work alone on the assignment.  NOTE: Click “Submit Assignment” in the upper right hand corner of your screen to turn in your Homework no later than Sunday, midnight CT. Name your file with your name and the unit number, i.e. Jones1 or Brown1. Your file should be in either Microsoft word (.doc or .docx) or rich text (.rtf) format.

NU560-8D-Unit 6 Discussion 1 REPLY 1

Nurses strive for evidence-based practice, according to Gray et al (2016).  Evidence-based practice includes appraising studies critically, synthesizing research finding, and the sound evidence into practice.  Studies are also appraised critically in selected areas, according to Gray et al (2016).  They develop summaries of current knowledge and identify areas to study subsequently.  Critically appraised research is needed for all nursing skill (Gray et al, 2016).  Critical appraisal involves careful examination of research to judge the strengths, limitations, meaning, trustworthiness, and practice applicability (Gray et al, 2016).

According to Smith-Strom et al (2008), training students in evidence-based practice should include three steps: formulate a question, search the evidence, and appraise the evidence critically (Smith-Strom et al, 2008).

Nurses need to know how to do this to secure the best care for patients.  Patients and their family demand that nurses have the best, up to date evidence for their care (Smith-Strom, 2008).  Decisions must be based on the best evidence available.  One way to ensure nurses are prepared is to train them while in school on evidence-based practice (Smith-Strom, 2008).

Clinical significance and credibility have an influence in every area nursing.  I work with patients who have a need in post-settings.  I must make decisions for patients in acute settings based on clinical significance.  I must use evidence-based information to help me make the best decision for their post-acute setting and discharge plans.  There are a variety of settings for post- acute care such as nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, and home health agencies (Bryant et al, 2004).  Measuring outcomes of evidence- based practice helps implement changes that are designed to improve patient outcomes and care process (Bryant et al, 2004).

The Final

I want you to use what you have learned in this course about the textual analysis essay to analyze one of your favorite stories. This could be a story from books – literary or popular – television, cinema, even music. You only need to provide me a five-paragraph essay of about 750 words this time. It should be in MLA format and follow the essay format that I have been teaching this semester.

I will be looking for you to follow the parameters that I have had you use and to analyze using the elements we have covered. Therefore, I will be looking for things like a narrowed topic. (If you are looking at a television series or movie, which are huge things, you must still narrow down to specific aspects of the larger whole, like specific scenes and dialog, etc. Do not be over general and attempt to address the whole thing. Pick what you feel are representative pieces in order to analyze the whole.) I will be looking to see if you base your analysis in the elements that make up the story you are analyzing. I will be looking to see if you have a clear thesis with a narrowed topic and a controlling idea.

Show me what you have learned.

INSTRUCTIONS:   The main focus of your paper will be to examine the primary documents that form the basis of the question.  You may certainly use any relevant information from either your textbook or in-class lectures to help support your answer…WITH the understanding that you MUST quote from the required primary documents for that question.  Any citations MUST BE in MLA format.  Your paper WILL  BE double spaced (no hand written papers), and you will use a font no larger than Arial 10pt, Cambria 11pt, or Times New Roman 12pt. Be sure to include an introduction with a clear thesis statement and argument points, well thought out analysis, proper references, and a neatly worded conclusion.  LENGTH = @ 5 PAGES

· TOPIC CHOICE ~ In forming his argument that the United States needed a National Bank, Alexander Hamilton wrote, “It is unquestionably incident to sovereign power to erect corporations…where the authority of the government is general, it can create corporations in all cases.”  President Washington sought the opinion of Thomas Jefferson on Hamilton’s plan, and he advised against the Bank by writing, “The incorporation of a bank…[has] not, in my opinion, been delegated to the United States by the Constitution.” Where specifically do Hamilton and Jefferson disagree on whether or not the U.S. Constitution allows for the forming of a National Bank?  You are required to make an argument as to which man you agree with, but your grade will also rest on the specifics of your answer.  Hamilton obviously thinks he can create a bank, and Jefferson says the opposite.  Please provide AT LEAST two quotes each (2) from

Hamilton-An Act to Establish a Bank-1791.pdf

AND

Jefferson-Constitutionality of the National Bank-1791.pdf
