Clinical Field Experience C: Mathematics Mini-Lesson

Allocate at least 3 hours in the field to support this field experience.

For this field experience, you will design and implement a mathematics lesson to the selected group of students from your previous field experience.

Part 1: Mini-Lesson Plan

Prior to going into your clinical field experience classroom this week, use the data received from the pre-assessment to complete the “Math Mini-Lesson Plan” template. This mini-lesson plan will be administered to the selected group of students to support instruction to meet the selected standards.

Your mini-lesson should include:

  • Math standard, learning objectives, grade level, and brief description of the unit
  • Instructional strategy
  • Description of math learning activity that is directly related to the data received from the pre-assessment
  • Formative assessment

Part 2: Mini-Lesson Plan Implementation

After completing the “Math Mini-Lesson Plan,” share it with your mentor teacher for feedback. Provided permission, teach the mini-lesson plan to the small group of selected students. During your lesson, ensure you are answering questions from your students, asking questions that support critical thinking and problem solving, and observing the understanding from each student (this might require formative assessments before, during, and after the lesson to determine understanding).

If you are not able to implement the lesson, speak with your instructor for an alternate assignment.

Part 3: Reflection

In 250-500 words, reflect and discuss the process of using pre-assessment data to develop a lesson plan and on your experiences teaching the lesson (if applicable). Consider:

  • How the data supported the planned instruction, selected instructional strategies, and differentiation strategies in identifying strengths, meeting learning needs, and promoting student growth.
  • The professional expectations to maintain privacy and ethical use of assessment data.
  • After the lesson was presented, modifications that supported the learning.
  • How this lesson supports short-term and long-term planning.

Assignment Content Respond to the prompts after each scenario.

Respond to the prompts after each scenario.

Scenario 1:

Justin is a front-office assistant at a local physician’s office. On a busy day at the office, Justin is consumed by patients and their needs. While helping a patient, Sarah, the other front-office assistant, calls Justin over to answer questions regarding the patient intake process. Justin explains the process to Sarah and then continues to work with the patient at his window. Later that day, Justin reflects on the situation and is frustrated that he had to stop working with his patient to explain a process to Sarah that he has already explained a dozen times. Justin takes to social media to express his frustrations with Sarah and her inability to take care of patients properly even though she has been trained.

Write a 175- to 260-word response to the following prompts:

  • Explain how Sarah might perceive Justin’s actions.
  • Explain the ramifications of using social media as an outlet for voicing frustrations about a co-worker.
  • Provide an example of a more effective communication method to use in this situation.

Scenario 2:

Jana works in a long-term care facility that cares for all types of patients. She receives emails from multiple co-workers throughout the day, and today she receives the following email from Sean:

“Hi Jana,

I noticed that I DIDN’T receive your monthly report yesterday. I NEED to get it as soon as possible TODAY so that I can finish the final report.

Thanks, Sean”

Write a 175- to 260-word response to the following prompts:

  • Explain how Jana might perceive the tone of this email.
  • Describe whether you perceive Sean’s tone to be appropriate or inappropriate.
  • Provide an example of a more effective communication method to use in this situation.

Scenario 3:

Robert is an older patient checking in at the window of his local retail health clinic. The office assistant is taking Robert’s insurance card and asking a couple of follow-up questions. Robert asks the assistant to speak up because of some background noise. The assistant starts speaking slower and enunciates her words instead of speaking louder.

Write a 175- to 260-word response to the following prompts:

  • Explain how Robert might perceive the office assistant’s reaction.
  • Explain the ramifications of communicating with patients in this manner.
  • Provide an example of a more effective communication method to use in this situation.

Philosophy week 1 assignment 1

Assignment #1- Western Civilization

Instructions:

Select one of these prompts and craft a brief essay. Please be mindful of the objectives and expectations below.

PowerPoint 2 offers the key idea that our way of thinking about life is a product of thinking that has been passed down for thousands of years. Yet, we commonly talk about stark differences between generations. For instance, the website Visual Capitalist offers a “Generational Power Index ” that includes this claim: “Each generation is shaped by its own unique historical context and cultural experiences, creating a shared perspective about the world that is different from their elders.” In light of the argument given in PowerPoint 2, what do you see that has been passed down for thousands of years that still unites the Silent Generation, Boomers, Gen Xers, Millennials, and Gen Zers?

  Hi dear,

Can you help me to finish this assignment with good quality and be on time please?

Please follow the instructor carefully. There are 2 Discussions, response to student discussion in a thoughtful manner, at least one paragraph each (minimum of 6-7 sentences per response in length).

Discussion # 1

One musculoskeletal injury that professional American football players are prone to are sprains, specifically lateral ankle sprains. Sprains are ligament injuries, happening most often at the subtalar and ankle joints. Lateral ankle sprains occur when the foot is plantarflexed and internally rotated while the subtalar joint is inverted. The anterior talofibular ligament, due to its low tissue strength, instability, and orientation, is most commonly injured in these sprains. American football players will be at risk due to factors surrounding the sport such as their size and speed, close player proximity, and rough contact happening frequently.

Another musculoskeletal injury that professional American football players are susceptible to are strains, specifically in the hamstrings, which include the biceps femoris, semimembranosus, and semitendinosus muscles. Strains are injuries to a muscle-tendon complex, and the hamstring is at high risk for injury. When wide receivers are running backs are sprinting at full speed, they enter a state of knee flexion with hip flexion where the hamstrings lengthen. As a result, the hamstrings decelerate the thigh and lower leg eccentrically, which increases sprain susceptibility. The high levels of intrinsic force allowed in the hamstrings due to their high ratio of fast-twitch muscle fibers are believed to be another contributing factor.

Discussion #2

One of the most commonly watched sports in the United States is American football. Football is a high contact and impact sport, consisting of running, kicking, throwing, and the action of tackling. Due to this, the percentage of athlete injury is 20-37% for professional football players and 18-23% for amateur players (Massida et al., 2015). The most common injuries in professional football are leg injuries.

Common leg injuries include ankle, quad, and hamstring sprains, torn ligaments (e.g. ACL, MCL, LCL), and knee injuries (UPMC Sports Medicine, 2021). With a contact sport such as football, the physical impact from tackles causes the body to move in unnatural directions. Aside from physical impact injuries, players can also injure themselves from excessive movement. Professional football players practice once or twice every day, along with participating in game events. Due to this, there are some cases where these athletes push their bodies farther than they can go (UPMC Sports Medicine, 2021). Majority of the time, this leads to soreness during the next few days. In some cases, however, the overexertion can lead to injuries such as those previously listed.

Overall, all contact sports increase the probability of musculoskeletal injury. Football is a high contact sport that overexerts the body in a number of ways. Although this is true, there are a number of preventative measures that football players can take in order to decrease the risk of injury. Some of these methods include proper stretching, strength activities, and endurance drills (UPMC Sports Medicine, 2021). With these preventative methods, professional football players can strengthen their bodies in order to perform at their highest physical potentials.

Thank you

Regulation for Nursing Practice Staff Development Meeting

Nursing is a very highly regulated profession. There are over 100 boards of nursing and national nursing associations throughout the United States and its territories. Their existence helps regulate, inform, and promote the nursing profession. With such numbers, it can be difficult to distinguish between BONs and nursing associations, and overwhelming to consider various benefits and options offered by each.

Both boards of nursing and national nursing associations have significant impacts on the nurse practitioner profession and scope of practice. Understanding these differences helps lend credence to your expertise as a professional. In this Assignment, you will practice the application of such expertise by communicating a comparison of boards of nursing and professional nurse associations. You will also share an analysis of your state board of nursing.
To Prepare:
Assume that you are leading a staff development meeting on regulation for nursing practice at your healthcare organization or agency.Review the NCSBN and ANA websites to prepare for your presentation.
The Assignment: (8- to 9-slide PowerPoint presentation)
Develop a 8- to 9-slide PowerPoint Presentation that addresses the following:
Describe the differences between a board of nursing and a professional nurse association.Describe the board for your specific region/area.Who is on the board? How does one become a member of the board?Describe at least one state regulation related to general nurse scope of practice. How does this regulation influence the nurse’s role? How does this regulation influence delivery, cost, and access to healthcare?Describe at least one state regulation related to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs).How does this regulation influence the nurse’s role? How does this regulation influence delivery, cost, and access to healthcare?Include Speaker Notes on Each Slide (except on the title page and reference page)

WEEK 8

In this course, we examined issues experienced by adults and juveniles in the correctional system.

For this assignment, you will put yourself in the shoes of a faculty member in a correctional course. You must teach your undergraduate college students about corrections to include the issues experienced by adults and juveniles. To teach this material, you will prepare a PowerPoint presentation with the completed presentation containing at least 13 slides, not including the title and reference slides.

You need to include the following in your presentation:

  1. The first section of your exam should focus on corrections in general and contain:
    1. a general description of the American correctional system,
    2. a description of at least two myths of corrections, and
    3. identification and explanation of at least two events that led to mass incarceration.
  2. The second section should focus on adults in corrections and contain:
    1. a description of one of the challenges of adults in correctional facilities,
    2. a discussion of at least one potential obstacle that contributes to the challenge discussed in section 2a, and
    3. an explanation of a practice or policy that could help alleviate this challenge. In your explanation, be sure to address how the practice or policy would help to alleviate the challenge,
  3. The third section of your exam should focus on juveniles in corrections and contain:
    1. an explanation of one of the challenges of juveniles in correctional facilities,
    2. a discussion of at least one potential obstacle that contributes to the challenge discussed in section 3a, and
    3. an explanation of a practice or policy that could help alleviate this challenge. In your explanation, be sure to address how the practice or policy would help to alleviate the challenge.

For all sections of the PowerPoint, you are encouraged to use research; hence, your completed assignment requires the use of at least two sources,
