Wellness 3 journal

Overview: In the Module Three overview, you read about a few films that help illustrate the history lens in action. Choose one of the films to watch and review for this assignment. Links to the films can be found in the Reading and Resources section of Module Three. Other related historical films or documentaries may be used only with instructor approval. For this assignment, you will watch one film through the history lens and will have the opportunity to practice the communication and technical skills needed for Final Project Part Two. You will create a short PowerPoint presentation with an oral narration using the PowerPoint narration tool. This will also allow you and your instructor to check that your technology works for this assignment, and to troubleshoot any potential difficulties before the Final Project Part Two due. This activity must be submitted in PPTX format for your professor to give you feedback on whether your technical components are correct.

Prompt: In your PowerPoint slides, use the PowerPoint narration tool to verbally record your answer to the following questions:

 What are the challenges the characters face in overcoming problems in wellness? What are the benefits?

 How does critically analyzing wellness add value to interactions with people in personal and professional contexts? Throughout your short PowerPoint presentation, make sure you use effective multimedia and communication skills:

 Construct your presentation in a way that ensures the audio and visual elements are logically organized in order to convey your message to your audience.

 Provide supporting evidence in your presentation that supports the importance of an issue or event in the film and its impact within wellness.

 Develop the audio narration to logically flow with the presentation to articulate the importance of critically analyzing an issue or event in the film and its

impact within wellness.

Note: When you are recording the oral component of your presentation, a headset or external microphone is recommended for better results. However, you can also use the microphone incorporated into your computer or cell phone. Use the Check File Compatibility With Earlier Versions and Are You Having Video or Audio Playback Issues? resources from Microsoft to help you check compatibility between versions of Office.

HEALTHCARE ORGANZATION PROJECT 1 (3 PAGE )

Healthcare managers have different perceptions of team members, which tend to influence how they are treated. Sometimes, a healthcare manager could have the wrong perception of an employee. Theory X and Theory Y present two different views of how managers perceive workers in an organization. Your healthcare manager asks for your views on Theory X and Theory Y. Respond to the following:

  • Prepare a leaflet to explain Theory X and Theory Y to your healthcare manager.
  • Explain how the healthcare manager’s perception affects the attitude and behavior of healthcare workers.
  • Describe the 4 stages of perception.
  • Include a recommendation on how the participation of healthcare workers in decision making would lead to greater achievement for the healthcare manager, team members, and the organization.

Deliverable Requirements

  • Include at least 3 references
  • Use the APA format
  • Minimum of 3 pages

Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:

Hydraulic Fracking

Overview

The US is currently undergoing an energy boom largely because of the development of the greatly expanded use of a well technique developed over 40 years ago – hydraulic fracking. It can be used for both oil and natural gas wells.. The technique allows previously unrecoverable oil and gas in old, played out wells to be accessed and increases the efficiency of recovery in new wells significantly. The current level of both recovery and new well drilling is dramatically higher than it has been for decades. The dramatic increase in well activity, some of which has been near towns and places no one thought drilling would ever occur. It has brought a great deal of attention to the technique and associated effects on everything from ground water and air pollution, to biodiversity disruption and earthquakes.

One important fact to weave into your opinion about fracking pro or con is that all of the sub-surface mineral rights in the US are owned by someone (a private individual, a business, or the state or federal government) but surface and mineral rights can be separated, i.e. sold. Originally, mineral rights were sold along with the land and then companies or individuals could decide if they wanted to keep or sell the mineral rights. Before mineral rights were so valuable, many people opted to sell their mineral rights to oil & gas companies. It never occurred to many people that someone would actually be drilling on their property or their neighbors. Oil and gas companies have a legal right to exercise their ownership options and if you are going to say “no” to them, then you owe them for what you are not letting them have, i.e. the money that would be produced if they were allowed to drill. This is not a trivial issue.

Instructions

This week’s discussion focuses on the pros and cons of hydraulic fracking and asks for your SCIENCE informed opinion on whether the economics and political fossil fuel issues justify the negative tradeoffs.

Address each of the following in your discussion:

  1. How is fracking done and why are companies doing this action versus traditional drilling?
  2. Are the environmental issues with fracking worse than conventional drilling?  Why or why not?
  3. Why are people along the Front Range and in other states where fracking is widespread, so upset about it now even though fracking has been occurring for a long time?

*In your initial post, please provide 3-4 references in APA format with in-text citations.

Microeconomics Case Study

Demonstrate your ability to find microeconomic data from public sources and to make a simple spreadsheet in Excel.

  1. Start by choosing an industry that interests you.
    • Remember that an industry is a group of companies that do the same thing. For example, Ford is a company; automobile manufacturing is an industry.
  2. Choose a microeconomic variable for your industry.
    • It could be prices, sales, production, advertising, or investment.
  3. Do some research and find three years of this microeconomic variable for your industry.
    • For example, you might find automobile sales data for 2017, 2018, and 2019.
  4. Go to the Census Bureau (NAICS) website and select an industry that has a description. Some of the smaller industries are named, but not described.
    • The industry could be broad, such as industry 11 Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing, and Hunting, or it could be narrow, such as industry 112112 Cattle Feedlots. The more digits in the industry label, the narrower the industry
  5. Prepare an Excel spreadsheet that has two columns and four rows. In cell A1, type in the industry you selected and bold the text. In the heading for cell A2, type “Year.” In cells A3, A4, and A5 descending below this heading, type the years for your data. In the automobile example, this would be 2017, 2018, and 2019.
  6. In the heading for column two, cell B2, type the name of the variable you chose. For example, it could be “Sales.” In the cells below this heading, type the sales data for each of the three years.
  7. Underneath your table, type “Source:” Then paste the URL of the source where you found your data.

Resources to Complete the Assignment

Respond to the following discussion prompt in a minimum of 175 words

Many business activities generate data that can be thought of as random. An example described in the textbook is the servicing of cars at an oil change shop. Each car entering the shop can be considered an experiment with random outcomes. A variable of interest in this experiment could be the amount of time necessary to service the car. Service time will vary randomly with each car.

We can often capture the most relevant characteristics of a stochastic process with a simple probability distribution model. We can then analyze the model to make predictions and drive decisions. For instance, we could estimate the number of technicians the oil change shop needs to service demand on a Saturday afternoon. Discuss the following:

  • What is a random variable?
  • How would you differentiate a discrete from a continuous random variable?

A laptop manufacturing company has implemented a 2-step process to test the quality of each production batch. In the first step, a technician randomly selects 15 laptops from the batch and determines whether they meet specifications. The batch is considered acceptable provided no more than 1 laptop fails to meet specifications. Otherwise, the entire batch must be tested in the second step. Historical data shows that 95% of the laptops produced adhere to specifications. Discuss the following:

  • What  are the 4 characteristics of a binomial experiment?
  • Can  we use a binomial distribution to model this process?
  • What  is the probability that the entire batch unnecessarily has to be tested if      in fact 95% of its laptops conform to specifications? (Hint: Use Excel’s      =BINOMDIST() function to find the probability.)
  • What   is the probability that the batch is incorrectly accepted if only 75% of      its laptops conform to specifications?

Business Continuity Plan

Once your team is in place and the scope of your disaster recovery planning is determined, the next step is to determine exactly what vital functions need to be included in the plan. Can you easily identify the most vital functions? What happens to the business if one or more functions are suddenly unavailable due to a system failure or other disaster? What is the cost if a function is unavailable? Intuitively, some functions must be more valuable than others, but what is that value? How can this value be measured? In a time of scarce resources, which functions need to be heavily protected and which (if any) can be safely ignored? In a major disaster affecting many functions, which functions are essential for the company’s survival? These questions are all pertinent.
In your final research project for the course, your task is to write  a minimum of a 4-page  paper discussing these concepts:

  • Introduction – What is Disaster Recovery
  • Why Should an Organization evaluate risk?
  • What are some Solutions in selecting a strategy?
  • What is Important for a Technical Recovery Plan and Crisis Management Plan?
  • Discuss at least one real organization that has been effective with implementing the Information Security Response.
  • Conclusion – Final thoughts/future research/recommendation

The paper needs to be a minimum of 4 pages long, NOT including the title page and a references page (for a total of a minimum 4   pages). Be sure to use proper APA formatting and citations to avoid plagiarism.Your paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Be minimum of 4 pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.
  • Follow APA guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.
  • Support your answers with the readings from the course, the course textbook, and at least FIVE scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook. The UC Library is a great place to find supplemental resources.
  • Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

Exam 3

This assignment asks you to write a compare and contrast short essays. To see the pair side by side click here

The Emperor TriumphantLinks to an external site. and The Justinian MosaicLinks to an external site.

The comparison essay should answer the question, “How are objects similar?” and “How are objects different?” The key to a good compare and contrast essay is to organize the sentences by theme where both works of art are discussed all the way through.  What are the themes?  You can choose any of the formal qualities – such as style, material, size, use of line, etc. that you already read about in Assignment #6 (Week 1 Module).  You also should include a discussion of the objects’ functions and meanings. So what was the object used for?  who used it?  where was it originally located? who was supposed to see or not see the works?

The essay should be at least two pages in length, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font, 1 inch margins.

**Remember, the most important thing is to discuss the works together. So for example, if you make a point that the subject matter is similar – you need to explain why that is important and talk about both works together.  Or if the subject matter is different – why is it different? what is being portrayed in each work?

Additional Guidelines for Writing Essay Three

Below is information that can help you to think about who the essay is supposed to communicate with, how to do the Essay Three Assignment and what the assignment should look like.

Audience and Purpose

Your readers are people who hold standard views about ethnicity, identity, and culture.  Your goal is to move readers from what they already believe before they started reading your paper to what you want them to believe by the end of the paper.

Process

  • First, you will read the three articles that are linked to the “Information on Week Seven Module.
  • Second, you will do some freewriting or other brainstorming about the central question of the essay and how the readings relate to the question.
  • Third, you will do research in the CCP Library databases. You will need to find one sourcethat helps you to answer the central question of the paper.
  • Fourth, you will compose an annotated bibliography. This will be a record of all the readings you will use in your paper — not just the one source from your Library researchbut also for the relevant Gladwell chapters or any other class readings you use. You will need to use at least two readings from our course in this paper.
  • Fifth, you will write the whole paper as a draft.
  • Sixth, you will submit your paper for peer review, and you will peer-review the papers of two of your fellow students in our class.
  • Seventh, you will use the comments of your fellow students to revise and improve your paper.
  • Eighth, you will edit your paper, proofread it, and edit it again.
  • Finally, you will submit your paper in its final form for your professor to read and assess.

Important Note: Since this is the last paper of the semester, you will not be able to revise your paper for a better grade.

Structure (you must submit an outline with your essay)

Using one of the templates for “Introducing standard views” found on page 23 of They Say/I Say, your paper should also begin with an introduction that 1) describes the problem you see with the standard view and 2) ends with your thesis statement.

The next set of paragraphs should make your own case, supporting your thesis statement, using the moves from They Say, I Say. These paragraphs must have topic sentences and use specific ideas from all your reading.

The second-to-last paragraph is where you will present your naysayer — both explaining the naysayer’s position and your explaining your answer to the objection. See Chapter 7 of They Say. I Say for more on how to use the naysayer.

The paper will then end with a conclusion that makes clear an answer to the question “so what?”

    Module 05: Part 2 Due: On-Boarding a New Employee

  • Requirements

    Part 1: Appropriate Reactions

You are asked to review the statements below and identify the following:

    Policy and Procedure

Determine the appropriate procedure that needs to be adhered to for the safety of the employee, customer and/or patient.

    • Make sure to include why these policies need to be adhered to and why.
    • Customer Service Approach

Determine the appropriate approach to each statement keeping in mind customer service delivery.

    • Make sure to include if your approach changes due to individual being addressed.
    • Statements

#1: You are a pharmacy technician at your local level one trauma center. An RN from the Emergency Room runs up to the window and states they need Narcan in an effort to reverse a suspected heroin overdose on a patient. The RN is being very rude and does not understand why you cannot hand over the Narcan and worry about procedure later.

#2: You are a pharmacy technician at your local drug store. Your fellow pharmacy technician has made a medication error. You point this error out to them (making note in your head that there is time to correct error before medication is dispensed) but notice that they ignore you and proceed to cover it up so they do not create more work for themselves.

      Part 2: On-Boarding a New Employee

You are asked to review the statements below and identify the following:

      Education Plan

Develop an education (training) plan for a new employee. Be sure to include the following in your training:

    • Policy and procedure.
    • Machine training.
    • Employee relations.
    • Prescription fulfillment.
    • Supervisor schedule before being allowed to function alone.
    • Adaptability of Education Plan

A part of developing an education (training) plan includes the ability to adapt based upon not only the needs of the individual, but also the environment that they are in. In the event that changes happen within the pharmacy, how do you address the following:

    • Being short staffed and training a new employee.
    • Electronic equipment being down in the pharmacy when training.
    • Pharmacy being too busy to spend 1:1 time training.
    • Statement

You are the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor at your local pharmacy. You have a new employee starting in 2 weeks and need to develop a training plan for them. This is the first job for this employee since they have recently completed school.
