Instructions: Answer the questions for each case study in current APA format with at least three academic references cited. References must not be older then 5 years. Must be at least 500 words in total.

Pulmonary Function:
D.R. is a 27-year-old man, who presents to the nurse practitioner at the Family Care Clinic complaining of increasing SOB, wheezing, fatigue, cough, stuffy nose, watery eyes, and postnasal drainage—all of which began four days ago. Three days ago, he began monitoring his peak flow rates several times a day. His peak flow rates have ranged from 65-70% of his regular baseline with nighttime symptoms for 3 nights on the last week and often have been at the lower limit of that range in the morning. Three days ago, he also began to self-treat with frequent albuterol nebulizer therapy. He reports that usually his albuterol inhaler provides him with relief from his asthma symptoms, but this is no longer enough treatment for this asthmatic episode.

Case Study Questions

  1. According to the case study information, how would you classify the severity of D.R. asthma attack?
  2. Name the most common triggers for asthma in any given patients and specify in your answer which ones you consider applied to D.R. on the case study.
  3. Based on your knowledge and your research, please explain the factors that might be the etiology of D.R. being an asthmatic patient.

Fluid, Electrolyte and Acid-Base Homeostasis:
Ms. Brown is a 70-year-old woman with type 2 diabetes mellitus who has been too ill to get out of bed for 2 days. She has had a severe cough and has been unable to eat or drink during this time. On admission, her laboratory values show the following:

  • Serum glucose 412 mg/dL
  • Serum sodium (Na+) 156 mEq/L
  • Serum potassium (K+) 5.6 mEq/L
  • Serum chloride (Cl–) 115 mEq/L
  • Arterial blood gases (ABGs): pH 7.30; PaCO2 32 mmHg; PaO2 70 mmHg; HCO3– 20 mEq/L

Case Study Questions

  1. Based on Ms. Brown admission’s laboratory values, could you determine what type of water and electrolyte imbalance does she has?
  2. Describe the signs and symptoms to the different types of water imbalance and described clinical manifestation she might exhibit with the potassium level she has.
  3. In the specific case presented which would be the most appropriate treatment for Ms. Brown and why?
  4. What the ABGs from Ms. Brown indicate regarding her acid-base imbalance?
  5. Based on your readings and your research define and describe Anion Gaps and its clinical significance.

Explain the role of health education in health promotion.

 Topic 5 DQ 1

Health education is a very important part in health promotion. When trying to help a patient with health promotion it is very important to educate them first. If they are not educated on how to be healthy they may not be able to change. First you need to assess their level of health literacy. Assess the family’s level on health literacy because this is a very underused information source (Prom-Wormley, et al., 2021). A lot of people need the education to make the positive change. The nursing process comes in handy when developing health education. First you need to see at what level the patient is on. They need to be able to understand what you are teaching them. Then you need to diagnose where the patient needs help in with learning. Then you can plan to educate them based on their level. Low-income families have a hard time with finding nutritious food and tend to eat unhealthily. The nurse needs to assess the family, then come up with a list of places that they can get healthy food. The nurse needs to give them the tools to eat healthy, help them. Education of how healthy food is needed and what unhealthy food can do to their body. Education is needed in a lot of different areas.

Respond by supporting the above post in discussion using 200-300 words APA format with a reference.

Cross-cultural management discussion

Guideline: You will be responsible for one original post, and two responses to posts of your classmates.

Your original post is due in 1 day, and after post that, I will send you two posts from my classmates, and then you need to reply to those two post in the following day. The original post can be 1 page, and the two responses can be half page each.

For your original posting, you will respond to the question(s) that are asked for the week. You will want to think about responding fully, in a way that fully answers the question, and also incorporates other aspects of graduate level thinking, such as (for example) critical thinking; analyzing issues from multiple perspectives; demonstrating awareness of costs and opportunities of decisions; incorporating or applying course material; and/or bringing in your own real-world experience with the topic at hand.

For your two responses to other students, you have lots of options. As examples, you can explain why you agree/disagree with what is said, with sufficient explanation or argument to support your position;  you can evaluate what is said by comparing/contrasting what we are learning in the course, or with your experience or knowledge; you can also share an example or story that illustrates the point that the original poster made.

Questions you have to answer this week:

Think about a successful cross-cultural negotiation you have ever been involved with, or that you have seen or observed.

–Describe it.

–Describe any identifiable cultural elements.

–What made the negotiation successful?

–What can you learn from this successful negotiation to make future negotiations more successful?

IMPORTANT: You need to answer all of the questions above, and must apply the content from the articles I upload.

You may need to consider my background when write this, I was born and raised in China and went to the United States to attend University several years ago.

Discussion: Life Purpose

  1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
  2. Consider the following:
    1. Psalm 138:8 “The Lord will vindicate me;
          your love, Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.”
    2. Matthew 5:13-16  “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
    3. Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
  3. After pondering the information above, answer the following questions in the Discussion Forum:
    1. What is the purpose for your life?  (How might that align with God’s purpose for your life?)
    2. How intentionally are you living out that purpose?
    3. How important is it that you are in alignment with the purpose for your life?  (Is it important that you are in alignment with God’s purpose for your life?)
  4. Your initial post is due by the end of the workshop.
  5. Read, view and respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings, as well as all follow-up instructor questions directed to you, by the end of the workshop.

Business Management – Ford Case Analysis

Assignment

You have been hired as a consultant to help Ford Motor Company return to its glory days, when either Henry Ford or Alan Mulally ran the company. In doing so, you must produce a short report to Jim Hackett, Ford’s CEO, that conveys your observations of Ford’s current situation (situational analysis), and a proposal of strategic actions Ford should take to be the model automotive company of the 21st century. Thus, your task is to answer the following questions based solely on the information provided in the case:

1.Perform an analysis of Ford’s external and internal environments. As you do this, please make sure you organize your response by classifying external trends as opportunities and threats, and by classifying Ford’s internal environment as strengths and weaknesses. Because of the length of the report, select the most salient issues in your eyes. In addition, you must include at least three functional areas/value chain activities in your analysis of Ford’s internal environment (e.g., operations, marketing, and finance), and you must include issues regarding Ford’s financial situation.

2.Based on the external challenges (threats), positive external trends (opportunities), Ford’s limitations (weaknesses), and Ford’s strong suits (strengths) identified in point #1, provide 4 strategic suggestions for Ford’s executives to implement. In other words, combine opportunities/threats you identified, with Ford’s strengths/weaknesses in order to make suggestions on what decisions CEO Hackett needs to make. In your response, make sure you include both strategic actions related to business level strategy (how to compete) and corporate -level strategy (where to compete). Provide strong rationale for your choices.

Expectations

The analysis of the case should reflect both your understanding of the material covered in the text as well as other insights you have gained from other functional area courses. You are encouraged to approach the case with an integrated multi-functional perspective of the organization and to explicate recommendations clearly and concisely in writing. There are multiple possible answers to the questions provided. Use the critical thinking and problem solving skills you have developed through your university career.

Individual case analysis write-ups should be well thought out and not trivial. Answers should stick to the facts in the case and analysis. Provide strong reasoning and evidence from the case.

All individual case analysis reports are due through the Assignments tab on Canvas. All case reports will be put through Unicheck, a plagiarism tool. The expectation is that you submit your own work. Any plagiarism will be punished to the greatest extent. If your analysis is found to be a copy of someone else’s work, you will earn a ZERO in your individual case analysis grade and you will be sent to the Office of Student Conduct.

Format

The case analysis report should be prepared using single-spacing (NOT double-spacing), Times New Roman 12-point font, and a 1-inch all-around margin. The case analysis report should be 3 to 4 pages in length.

NOTE from Dr. Parker: Aim for 3 pages. This is roughly 1,000 – 1,200 words, so aim for this target.

Please provide a cover page (not counted in the 3 pages) with your name, the title of the case, the name of the course, the course section, and the date.

Any direct quotes from the case should appear in quotes and the page number should appear in parentheses.

Integrated Goals

Assessment Details

You will need to complete scenes 1-10 in FLIGBY, then craft an ERRC grid for yourself based on your reading in Blue Ocean Strategy, Chapter 2. Take into consideration your personal and professional life. Have at least two goals in each of the four quadrants. Focus on the most important two (out of 8) goals that you inserted into the grid.

Using the Goal Setting Plan template, create between two and five objectives for each of the two most important goals. Once the objectives are determined, fill in the resource, measurement, and targets for each objective. Include that template to your paper, and also write about your findings and how you will accomplish them—with particular focus on the ones that present challenges.

New Venture Creation – MBA

Part A: Canvas

Part A: 1 Canvas plus 1000 word analysis (plus or minus 10%)

For this assessment, you will develop the business model of your business idea in the format of a Lean canvas.

In preparation for this assessment, you will need to review this article and video:

You have recognised an opportunity in the market for a new entrepreneurial venture. You need to choose between the following:

  • As an entrepreneur it will take the form of a stand-alone new organisation, or
  • As an intrapreneur it will be a new element of an existing organisation

You are in the early stage of the new venture (i.e. you have not generated significant sales) and as per the Lean Startup methodology you are experimenting with how you will address the opportunity. You are to develop a canvas to take a snapshot of your current thinking about implementing your business idea so you can communicate your idea. As a result, you need to write a report supporting your canvas.

Your canvas should be displayed on a one-pager as per the template provided. To help you develop the canvas you will need to review the relevant sections of the academic journal article by Joyce and Paquin (2016) and the video on lean canvas by Ash Maurya (2013)

Please note that the article from Joyce and Paquin focuses on business model canvas but the same theories apply to the lean canvas since they have the same origin.

In the report supporting your canvas you should:

  • Briefly introduce your business idea in the introduction (less than 100 words).
  • Then in the first part, you will need to explain the theory behind the canvas by discussing the difference between a business plan and a business canvas.
  • In the second and final part of your report, you will need to explain and justify briefly each key element of your canvas.

Part B: Oral presentation

Part B: 3-5 minute oral presentation of 5 slides

Having completed your canvas in Part A, you are tasked with producing an elevator pitch (short oral presentation) targeted at potential investors if you are an entrepreneur, your management if you are an intrapreneur. You need to develop a PowerPoint slide deck of 5 slides with a script (comprehensive or simply bullet points).

In addition, you need to record your 4-5 minute oral presentation based on your canvas, demonstrating why your audience should invest in your venture. For advice on delivering a great elevator pitch watch the video ‘Make your Pitch Perfect‘ by Alison Chadwick.

Note that AIB will provide a PowerPoint template to guide your presentation which is available on the learning portal in the Assessment section of the subject website.

This assessment item has two components that must be submitted separately:

  • the PowerPoint presentation in the provided template (saved as a PDF with the audio script included in the slide notes)
