I need a report about this topic

  Topic For Exercise:

What motivated Anton Kriel to do this lecture?  Based on the context in which Kriel discusses the concept what is a principle?  What is Kriel’s complaint about mass education?  Which one of the five principles do you find most useful and how could you apply it to help you reach your goals in life? Please answer these questions and explain your answers.  Also quote from the video and other material you’ve explored this semester.

As you watch the Kriel lecture and begin work on the exercise here is one thing to think about.

When writing about an abstraction such as freedom, independence, etc., a metaphor becomes important.  A metaphor makes an abstraction more concrete.  An abstraction is invisible while the metaphor is something we can see.

Thus being able to do what we want, when we want, how we want or waking up when we want and working when we want are metaphors for freedom and time.  And the metaphor can be used as a definition too.  What is freedom?  Answer:  I wake-up when I want, go to bed when I want, do what I want, when I want, how I want.  With a definition like this one then we can approach an issue like how to gain such freedom.  What do people who have gained such freedom know, have learned, have done, etc.

The metaphor thus becomes about doing what we want with our time instead of giving our time, our freedom to others so they can do what they want, when they want.  I suggest watching Layan Bubbly’s short video again after you watch Kriel’s lecture.

Do you want to spend a third of your life (time) or more on this planet working for someone else no matter if you want to be a nurse, engineer, lawyer, pilot?  Does your time on this plant belong to your boss, a company, clients, customers for them to get ahead while you’re just a piece of their plan?  I say no!  Don’t wait so that years from now you realize how much time you’ve given away.

500-word composition.  Use Courier New, 12-point font and double space and MLA style.

The Reformation

Last Project

For your Final Project, you apply concepts, theories, and approaches presented in the course to a Crisis, Trauma, and Disaster Response Project. The project must be presented as a 8- to 10-page (not including references, title page, or abstract), double-spaced, APA-formatted project in the form of a paper. The Final Project must be submitted by Day 7 of Week 10. Refer to Week 10 for specific instructions for submission.

For your Final Project: Select one crisis type from each of the following categories (selecting a total of twocrises):

  • A crisis with an individual, couple, or family
  • A crisis in the community

The crises you select may be crises you personally experienced, learned about through this course, or heard about on the news, past or present. The crisis should be discussed from an academic lens and written in scholarly voice.

Then, for each crisis, complete the following:

  • Describe the crisis, including: the event/situation, implications, responders, victims, survivors, and perpetrators.
  • Describe the forms of critical incident assessment you might use.
  • Explain the potential short-term and long-term effects that might be experienced by the people impacted by the crisis.
  • Describe the particular competencies you would need to work with people impacted by the crisis.
  • Explain the anticipated outcomes for immediate, short-term, and long-term interventions used.
  • Explain the cultural, ethical, and legal implications that need to be considered.
  • Explain potential vicarious trauma and countertransference that might occur between you and the people you might treat from this crisis.
  • After addressing each point above for both types of crisis, explain what insights you had or conclusions you drew from completing this assignment.

Although the Final Project is not to be submitted until Day 7 of Week 10, you should become familiar with the project requirements and have them in mind as you proceed through the course. Many of the Discussions and Assignments relate to and can be of use in your Final Project.

Post an interpretation of the case study’s conclusion that “the vocational rehabilitation intervention program may be effective at promoting full-time employment.”

The team of researchers at the regional’s organization  conducted an outcome evaluation on a new vocational rehabilitation program for recent parolees with a goal to promote full time employment amongst the participants. The findings of the case study concluded that the vocational  intervention program may be effective at promoting full-time employment among recently paroled inmates ( Plummer et. al.,2014). In the study a sample size N=59 was provided with information of the 60 participants of the study. Of the 60 participants 30 had completed the program and 30 were on the waiting list. Only information for 59 was documented. According to Plummer (2014) the unemployment rate of the participants on the waitlist was 55% while 60% of the program’s participants were employed full time. The higher percentage of employed participants showed the effectiveness of the program.

Describe the factors limiting the internal validity of this study, and explain why those factors limit the ability to draw conclusions regarding cause and effect relationships.

The factors limiting the internal validity of this study were no random assignment used, difference in groups studied, unequal distribution of information of participants and assumptions.

Internal validity is the approximate truth about inferences regarding cause-effect or causal relationships(Trochim,2006).  Because causal relationships were used in this study to show relationship between the participants enrolled and participants waiting to be enrolled, the internal validity of the study was relevant. The assignment was not random since it was put together by an organization that advocates  for nonviolent offenders. There was 1% difference in the groups studied due to 1 person waiting to participant did not give information.

Post an interpretation of the case study’s conclusion that “the vocational rehabilitation intervention program may be effective at promoting full-time employment.

The case study selects to have two groups (intervention group and comparison group) each consisting of 30 inmate individuals. It appears as though the vocational rehabilitation intervention program may be effective at promoting full-time employment. This is evidence of the employment levels for part-time and full-time in both participation group being equivalent for part-time and high for full-time. The alternative hypothesis states that there is a difference; It would allow us to say that it appears that the treatment (voc rehab program) is effective in increasing the employment status of participants. [Data collected showed significance in] a p value of .003, which is significantly beyond the usual alpha-level of 0.5 that most researchers use to establish significance (Plummer, 2014b).

Describe the factors limiting the internal validity of this study, and explain why those factors limit the ability to draw conclusions regarding cause and effect relationships.

There appears to be two limitations to this study factoring in the fact that no random assignment was used and the differences between both groups being bias. I believe that these factors pose limitations due to the study being narrow. It could have been expanded on to include a control group. Expanding on other areas within employment would help establish a cause and effect relationship. For example, being able to maintain an employment status, an inmate might find him/herself satisfying conditions of probation, such as paying fines or even displaying behavior for a sentence reduction. Cause and effect refers to a relationship between two phenomena in which one phenomenon is the reason behind the other (Salkind, 2014) .

Rogers and self- Actualization

This is a short essay related to Chapter 5 and 6 on Carl Rogers theory of personality.  Please read these chapters of your text before submitting this short essay.Follow the instructions below to complete this essay assignment.Rogers proposed that the fundamental human motive is self-actualization: a positive, growth-oriented human motive.  That sounds like a very nice idea. And it is easy to think of cases in which people seem to be striving toward self-actualization.  But it naturally raises the question of how, in Rogerian theory, one could explain the personality of people who seem oriented toward evil rather than positively-oriented growth.  In other words, what about Hitler?  Mass murderers? Etc. How could one posit a self-actualization theory in the face of such cases?

  1. Write a short essay of 300 words (minimum) answering the question above. Use your textbook chapter to provide you with background information, as well as research available on the internet. In all cases, cite any sources you use in the essay and in a bibliography at the end of your essay.
  2. Write your essay in a word processing program and then click the name of the assignment above to paste it on the essay submission page.
  3. You may earn up to 20 points for this essay based on the following rubric:
    • 20 points = 300 word minimum met, all questions from prompt answered, no spelling or grammar errors
    • 10 points will be deducted for minimum word count not met
    • Additional points will be deducted for not answering all parts of assignment and/or spelling or grammar errors.
