Ethical and Business

In recent years, there has been an effort to develop a common set of accounting standards for nations and firms doing business around the world. For the Final Project, you are to write a paper discussing how the effort for a global set of accounting standards has increased the motivation, or need, to establish a global set of ethical standards. Your paper should include a discussion on the history of the AICPA, the CPAO, and the IFAC and a thorough examination of corporate social responsibility frameworks including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 Reporting Guidelines, the UN Global Compact’s Principles, and ISO 26000 Guidelines. You should address how the United States and the international community are developing a common set of ethical standards, specifically referencing the recent revisions of the AICPA and CPAO codes, and discuss some of the challenges faced by the governing bodies in their attempts to converge the standards. Make a recommendation on at least five fundamental guidelines that you believe should be included in a global set of ethical standards. The paper is to be 7–10 pages (of content) and prepared in accordance with APA guidelines. There should also be a title page, a 1–2-paragraph abstract, and a reference page showing a significant variety of current, relevant sources that are used and cited in the paper.

 The Legal Minefield Overseas

China’s growing middle class and spending power have made it a marketers’ dream. But navigating the intricacies of Chinese society is guided by written and unwritten rules that global businesses need to learn. Brands often end up intertwined in politically charged news events. Censorship is capricious subject to interpretation but heavily enforced. (Don’t end up like Lady Gaga who does not own the rights to her name in China.)

Remember that the discussion takes place over two weeks and your weekly posts must be made in the specified week to earn credit.

Select a country in the Middle East and one in the African continent. Research and present at least two legal roadblocks in each country that could prove troublesome for international marketers who want to function in the respective countries

Your analysis must be substantiated by research from articles in the library’s full-text databases or other graduate level resources. Use of consultant or other inappropriate sites is banned and may result in a zero for the assignment. Since you are engaging in research, be sure to cite the source(s) in APA format.

 Scouring the Global Media

Global media looks at U.S.-based companies differently than we do domestically. Multinational companies make mistakes all of the time. How does media in the rest of the world cover legally questionable activities of American companies abroad?

The Internet houses links to numerous global English and non-English language foreign media sources. Find a story in a non-U.S. news source from the last decade about a U.S.-based company that had a legal issue in an overseas market.

  • Describe the situation in the news.

New EN(MB)#1

Read carefully and answer fully I need a minimum of 200 words

There are many different kinds of expository writing that surround us each day. In fact, you have more than likely written in an expository manner before. Any time you have written to a friend and described the process for cooking a favorite dish, explained the process for enrolling in a fantasy football league, or explained how to plan and then execute a quilt, you were writing in an expository manner.

For this journal, briefly introduce the topic of your expository. This is not a formal disclosure. Instead, describe what you intend to write about in your Unit VII expository. Use the following questions as a guide:

  • What is your topic?
  • How are you approaching it?
  • What do you already know about the topic?
  • What do you want others to know about the topic?
  • What attracted you to this topic?
  • Do you have a personal interest in the topic?
  • What was the inspiration for writing about this topic?
  • What do you want to know about the topic?
  • What kinds of research are you doing already?
  • How do you feel about the drafting process so far?

You certainly should not feel as though you need to answer all of the questions above. Instead, in your description, picture your course mates as your audience. Imagine that we are all sitting in a classroom together, and the instructor has the class to go around the room and describe their projects.

implementation of the electronic health records (EHRs)

As the manager of CTU Health Care Systems, you have done your research on three vendors to which you would like to outsource the implementation of the electronic health records (EHRs) for the clinics. As the manager, you have a number of critical decisions regarding the electronic medical record systems. At first, you thought you could either implement the existing EHR system at the other acute care organization or implement an entirely new EHR in both facilities.

You met with your staff, and after researching several companies that offered both products and services, you have solicited request for proposals (RFPs) from the following three companies:

  • ABC Systems Consulting, the leading company in health care systems integration services, refused to bid on the systems integration required for bringing the current EHR system into the other organization. This was because of the risks and time requirements for designing, implementing, and testing the large number of interfaces required and the required time line for the completion of the project as identified by the client.
  • XYZ EHR Systems proposed that its new, recently redeveloped EHR be implemented in both facilities, which included a computerized physician order entry (CPOE) module, standardized drug interaction alert functionality, and customizable clinical alert functionality. It estimated that the merged entity would get a much better price than $50 million for purchasing this new system. Unfortunately, XYZ was unable to provide evidence of successful installation of its recently redeveloped EHR system at a similarly large delivery network or anywhere.
  • QRS EHR Systems, a leading provider of EHR systems for large acute care facilities, proposed that its EHR be installed in both acute care organizations with a $50–60 million price tag. QRS included a CPOE module, standardized drug interaction alert functionality, as well as evidence-based clinical alert functionality. QRS also had a physician office EHR system with an embedded patient registration system; however, QRS has had minimal experience with integrating the physician office registration system with the acute care (hospital) registration system—an integration feature that was a priority for this project based on the client’s information technology (IT) strategic plan.

The stakes surrounding your recommendation to the chief information officer (CIO) and chief executive officer (CEO) could not be higher in terms of dollars and your career.

Discuss the following in your paper of 6-8 pages, not including the title page and reference page:

  • What pieces of information are the most critical for your decision on selecting the right vendor?
  • What other options, if any, do you have?
  • What are the critical success factors in the case?
  • What are your recommendations to the CIO and CEO based on the RFPs that you received?

Note: Use APA style and cite at least 4 scholarly references published within the last 5 years.

Describe two external stressors that are unique to adolescents

 opic 3 DQ 2

Adolescence is a period of growth and development that occurs between childhood and adulthood. As they continue to form an identity, they face many difficulties in integrating themselves into society; they do not belong to either the childhood or adult groups. Any transition that upsets the balance of our lives and forces us to adapt is referred to as a stressor. Stress may be described as physical or mental tension experienced as a result of life events.

They don’t stress factors affecting adolescents are here or social stressor and self-esteem and sexual stressor. Rejections when they begin to form intimate relationships, teasing or being teased, as this is the moment that teenage bodies are undergoing physical changes such as weight gain, awkwardness, acne growth, and so on, are all possible peer or social stressors. Other sources of tension during this time include education and the need to excel, dealing with a family crisis, and online social lives. Self-esteem and sexual stressors are normal in puberty as their bodies shift, they continue to develop sexual identities, and self-esteem may be low. An adolescent’s life revolves around fitting in, and identifying sexually outside of what is considered normal (i.e., bisexual, homosexual, transgender/gender neutral) can be stressful. Society does not often tolerate these kinds of sexual identities, and their bullying, teasing, gossip, and family rejection of their decisions contribute to a poor sense of self-esteem. As a result, when puberty is confronted by stressors like these, they feel depressed and resort to action to cope. Social avoidance, behaving violently against others, or self-abuse, as well as consuming alcohol or using drugs, are examples of those behaviors. When these fails to properly relive the stress experienced by the teenager, they may consider or attempt suicide.

Any of the reinforcement or coping mechanisms that may be used are mentioned below. Since nurses’ assessments are critical for understanding stressor signs and symptoms, this would help nurses to understand how the teenager is feeling and speak about it when their adult is not present. As a result, they would feel more at ease debating those topics. We will teach them to talk about their feelings by giving them things to talk about that they are comfortable with. When it comes to suicidal thoughts or acts, ask them simple questions. To ease tension, encourage healthy coping skills such as sports or exercise, listening to music, or praying. If they don’t feel comfortable talking about their emotions, they can write them down in a diary as a stress reliever. Giving them information about support groups where they can go on their own and get assistance is another informative opportunity. Some of the support groups- self-esteem: Teens Health.org, gender identity question or stress associated with the subject: gay, lesbian and straight education Network (www.gisen.org), Bullying: www.bullying.org or kidshealth.org. Depression and suicide are complex issues and get torn on the flesh for adolescents. It is important for nurses to use communication and sensitivity in education for this group.

Respond using 200-300 words APA format with references supporting the discussion.

Describe two external stressors that are unique to adolescents. Discuss what risk-taking behaviors may result from the external stressors and what support or coping mechanism can be introduced.

SOCW 6210 ASSIGNMENT

Volunteers and political officials in local communities often campaign to improve conditions and provide services to increase the well-being of individuals and families living in those communities. If you are the parent of young children, you might focus on improving the local school or creating safe places where children can play. If you are an individual in later adulthood or a caregiver for an individual in later adulthood, what community resources might be important to you? For this week’s Assignment, you evaluate the resources that your local community provides for its older members.

To prepare for this Assignment, research the resources available in your local community to support the issues and concerns of the older population. Note any gaps in these services and consider what improvements might be made to existing services as well as what services should be added.

By Day 7

Submit a 2- to 4-page paper that includes the following:

  • A description of the services in your local community that support individuals in later adulthood
  • An evaluation of the effectiveness of the services you identified
  • A description of service gaps you identified
  • An explanation of how to improve existing services
  • A description of services that should be added, and why

Ethics Lens

This Assessment requires that you complete the Ethical Lens Inventory (ELI) within the EthicsGame Simulation. Once completed, you will write a paper that answers the following questions:

  1. Report the findings of your ELI. Include your overall type and the strength of the type as reported on the two axes. Be sure to cite your findings and do not copy and paste information from your ELI results into your paper. Use your own words.
  2. Summarize the ethical theories associated with your type. This section requires at least three scholarly references. Again, assure you use your own words, and do not copy and paste information from your research into your paper. Assure you discuss the theories and seminal theorists behind your lens (see the conceptual maps that precede the chapter covering your specific lens for guidance).
  3. Provide AT LEAST one example of how you have applied your preferred lens in a personal or professional setting that reflects your lens’s strengths, with special consideration to the consequences of your action.
  4. Provide AT LEAST one example of how you have applied your preferred lens in a personal or professional setting that reflects your lens’s weaknesses with special consideration to the consequences of your action.
  5. Discuss how you will use your knowledge of your preferred lens when managing or leading others, with special consideration to the consequences of your actions.
  6. Discuss how you will overcome the challenges of your lens when leading or managing, with special consideration to the consequences of your action. Because this week’s focus is on the Results Lens, using your first example, what would you have done had your ELI showed you preferred the Results Lens? Be sure to apply Utilitarian Theory in your answer.
  7. (If your ELI outcome was the Results Lens, there is no need to do this part)

Case Study: National Infrastructure Protection Plan

Phase 1 due in Week 3

Phase 2 due in Week 5

Phase 3 due in Week 7

Phase 4 due in Week 9

On your first day as an Information Systems Security director, you met with the Chief Information Officer. During the meeting, he revealed to you his deep concerns about the Infrastructure Protection Plan. He asked you to read the Department of Homeland Security. (2009). National Infrastructure Protection Plan. Retrieved from http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/NIPP_Plan.pdf carefully and focus more on chapter 6: Ensuring an Effective, Efficient Program Over the Long Term.

Since he realizes that you are new to this position he asked you to deliver the final plan, memo and budget in 7 weeks (week 8) but he setup 3 checkpoints for you to deliver parts of the plan to ensure consistent progress of the deliverables before the big presentation in week 8.

Phase 1: Memo – due in week 3

In this phase, you need to create 3-5 page professional memo about your assessment of what needs to be done to meet the standards based on the National Infrastructure Protection Plan. You need to make sure that the language in the memo is clear of free of errors. You also need to be creative in presenting this information to capture the most important points from the National Infrastructure Protection Plan. You need to demonstrate critical thinking to prioritize the action items based on your findings.

Phase 2: Communication plan – due in week 5

In this phase, you need to communicate with your troops about the National Infrastructure Protection Plan, through your information in the memo. The communication plan should involve a diagram showing the flow of information, the timing of the communication as well as the media of the communication. You also need to submit drafts of any communication pieces of your communication plan.

Phase 3: Budget forecasts – due in week 7

In phase 3, you need to create a Spreadsheet to capture the financial components involved in the plan. Please be sure to cover all the items you included in your memo and in your communication. Also, this is the time to amend your memo based on the budget if you need to do so.

Click here to view the grading rubric.

Phase 4: Final presentation – due in week 9

The fourth and final phase is to create a professional presentation of no more than 10 slides to serve as an executive overview detailing all the aspects of the plan. Remember that your presentation is the first item the team will look at, so try to capture all the ideas in a concise way to make the team eager to read the memo, the budget and consider your plan

IDS Presentation (mulitmedia)
