ACC/543: WEEK 1: Managerial Accounting & Legal Aspects Of Business

Managerial accounting can be a complex job. As you learned in this week’s practice assignment, many different calculations need to be completed to assist an organization with its financial statements.

Write a 250-word response reflecting on your experience making the calculations from the practice assignment. In your reflection, share your thoughts on the activities within this week’s readings. Consider how calculating financial statements will help drive effective business decisions.

Address the following questions within your response:

  • Which calculations were challenging for you? Why?
  • Which ratios were difficult to understand?
  • What will you do differently in the following weeks?

If you did not have any challenges, respond to the following questions:

  • What prepared you for these calculations?
  • What advice would you give a classmate who needs assistance?

Submit your assignment.

MBA 635 Week 6 Discussion

 Unit 6: Discussion

Introduction

The purpose of unit discussion is to have an open dialogue that helps to expand your understanding of the course material as well as demonstrate your critical thinking abilities. While less formal than unit assignments, your posts should be supported with scholarly research. Participation throughout the assigned unit is encouraged so that you can participate in the give and take of a natural dialogue.

Unit Learning Outcomes

  • ULO 6.1 Analyze the different types of training evaluation and discuss the barriers to evaluation.
  • ULO 6.2 Explain how training evaluation can be quantifiable and analyze different evaluation methods.
  • ULO 6.3 Assess why training designers need to consider both the costs and benefits to a training program.
  • ULO 6.4 Describe how to calculate the benefits of training programs including net benefit analysis, benefit-cost ratio, and return on investment.
  • ULO 6.5 Evaluate relevant scholarly research and synthesize research to complete required assignments.

Directions

Initial Post

Conduct scholarly research to provide a detailed response to one of the questions listed below. Review rubric for expectations.

1. Consider a situation in which you are the director of training and development in an organization that is going to deliver a very expensive training program. It is very important to find out how effective the training program is given the expense and the large number of employees who will be trained over the next several years. Your job is to develop a plan for the evaluation. Discuss what you will do in terms of the type of evaluation: What data should be gathered and analyzed? What is the purpose of the evaluation and should it be formative or summative? Should it be descriptive or causal evaluation? What type of evaluation design do you think would be most appropriate? Consider the pros and cons of the various alternatives.

Discussion: Psychoanalytic and Trait Theory

There are numerous theories of personality that form the foundation for the theoretical orientations used by mental health professionals. Two of these theoretical orientations are psychoanalytic and trait.

The psychoanalytic theoretical orientation includes the ideas set forth by the controversial pioneer in personality theories, Sigmund Freud. His psychoanalytic personality theory describes the mind as operating on three layers: conscious, preconscious (or subconscious), and unconscious. In his theory, personality evolves from what is buried in the unconscious that drives behavior and emotion. The conflict between the conscious and unconscious creates an array of defense mechanisms that further determine thought and action. By uncovering inaccessible memories and examining them through therapy, individuals can address sources of struggle in their lives and work to alter destructive aspects of personality. Freud’s view of personality, as seen through the general use of his ideas and terms such as id, ego, and superego, has had profound influence, as has the notion of psychoanalysis, or “talk therapy,” making an understanding of Freud’s concepts vital for exploring personality theories.

The trait theoretical orientation includes the ideas of Allport, Eysenck, Cattell, and Costa and McCrae. As the name implies, trait personality theories examine how traits combine to define personality. Unlike other personality theories studied thus far, trait theory views personality as uniquely individual, shaped by the mix of traits that characterize each person. Key trait theorists diverge on the number of traits that matter and how to rank them. Allport, for example, recognized thousands of traits but emphasized three main types: cardinal (dominant, e.g., narcissism), central (major, e.g., intelligence), and secondary (transient, e.g., situational anxiety) traits. Other theorists have both expanded and contracted the number and measurement of significant traits, identifying specific factors and dimensions. As you will explore, trait theory requires consideration of the extent to which traits are predictors of behavior—such as, cardinal traits like narcissism—and in what ways they are not.

This week, you will examine two theoretical orientations – psychoanalytic and trait, including their respective theorists, cultural considerations, assessments/interventions, limitations, and unique aspects. You will also apply one theory from each orientation to a case study analysis.

Response 4 Re: Topic 2 DQ 2

Re: Topic 2 DQ 2

In my worldview, human life is such a precious gift from God, the Creator of universe inclusive of the human beings. My worldview closely resembles the Christian worldview, that all humans have value, and should be treated equally because they were made by God and in his likeness (White, 2020). As well, from my view point, any successful society must be have and be guided by ethical principles which provide for healthy moral values for one another. I believe that the decisions made concerning bioethical issues are relative. Carrying out an abortion is relative but under the observation of qualified and genuine care providers. In cases where the lives, of both the mother and the child, are in danger the care provider may advise for an abortion. In situation of getting reed of unwanted pregnancy, I consider that as murder. Again, I consider creating designer babies as unethical and ungodly in cases where the intention is to exclude some genes which are not harmful and it is also helpful in cases where the doctors need to remove diseases associated genes. With the issue of stem cell research, I believe it is good since it provides a solution for the treatment of diseases such as diabetes (Shin, 2017).

Yet, as a nurse who works with patients with different worldviews, my role is to respect each person and support them in their decisions. As nurses, we must remain unbiased and guide our patients to make the right choices for them. We educate them and walk with them through the journey of care without making any judgments. Doing so means that I am respectful of all people and their opinions, beliefs, and practices.

PAD 501 GRANT WRITING

Grant Reporting Plan

Congratulations! Your hard work on the application paid off and you have received a grant for the tutoring program! The program is off to a great start and now you will need to begin the reporting.

Grants involve reports and every grant has its own unique reporting requirements. This allows the funders to see how the money is being spent throughout the life of the program and ensures you are using the same measures you outlined in your application.

For this assignment, you will need to create a grant reporting plan.

Choose one of the funders you identified in the first assignment and look for as many specifics as you can find around reporting requirements for that grant. Then, create a document that contains the following information:

  • How often do reports need to be submitted to the funders?
  • In what format do the funders want the reports?
  • Where should the reports be sent?
  • Who should be contacted if the organization encounters problems during the course of the program?
  • What tools (if any) will you use to track process and create reports? Explain.

Your document should be 1–2 pages in length. Be sure to clearly identify the funder and cite the funder information using the Strayer Writing Standards (the citations are not part of the 1–2 page requirement).

The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:

  • Determine the reports that are required after securing a grant.

ACC/543 Week4: Signature Assignment: Flexible Budget

Assignment Content

  1. For this assignment, refer to the scenario located in “Problems – Series A,” section 8-19A of Ch. 8, “Performance Evaluation,“ of Fundamentals of Managerial Accounting Concepts. This scenario puts you in charge of preparing a budget for the Redmond Management Association annual public relations luncheon.

Read the scenario in the textbook and complete the activity below.

Use Excel—showing all work and formulas—to complete the following:

    • Prepare a flexible budget.
    • Compute the sales volume variance and the variable cost volume variances based on a comparison between the master budget and the flexible budget.
    • Compute flexible budget variances by comparing the flexible budget with the actual results.
    • Create a 6- to 8-slide presentation for the budget committee meeting. Complete the following in your presentation:
    • Summarize the results of the sales volume and variable cost volume variances computations based on the comparison between the master budget and the flexible budget.
    • Summarize the results of the flexible budget variances computations based on the comparison between the flexible budget and the actual results.
    • Justify the favorable or unfavorable budget variances.
    • Since this is a not-for-profit organization, address why anyone should be concerned with meeting the budget.
    • Make recommendations for what can be done differently to stay on budget for future luncheons. Provide specific examples to support your recommendations.
    • Cite references to support your assignment.

Format your citations according to APA guidelines.

Applying the Writing Process

Prepare

Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 7 in your course textbook. When we see writers on TV shows or in the movies, we often see them working alone, struggling to put words down. But the reality is that writers never have to work alone. They rely on many tools and resources to help them accomplish their tasks. The Writing Center is a powerful tool to help shape and sharpen your writing. Review the Writing Basics Refresher (Links to an external site.) web page, fully considering the resources listed under each of the three steps: Grammar and Punctuation Review, Topic Sentence and Paragraph Development Review, and Overcoming Writer’s Block.

Additionally, as we near the end of class, it is important to look ahead to the final essay you will complete in Week 5 as well as take stock of what we have learned about the writing process. First, review the Understanding Your Assignment (Links to an external site.) webpage as well as the guidelines for your Week 5 Future Opportunities Essay. You will consider and discuss what you have learned about writing for this discussion post.

Reflect

As we have been discussing throughout this course, the writing process requires that you review your purpose or assignment and create an organized structure for your writing before you even start putting words down. At this point in the class, it is only natural to have questions about the different stages of the process. In fact, you may have very particular reactions to specific aspects of the process. For example, there are some writing skills you may feel as if you will never grasp and other skills you feel a ready mastery over. As you consider the different steps on the Understanding Your Assignment (Links to an external site.) webpage and assess your understanding of the Week 5 Future Opportunities Essay guidelines, you will position yourself for success.

Write

In 250 to 300 words, address the following points:

  • Identify which one of the three steps listed on the Writing Basics Refresher webpage you most struggle with, in your writing.
    • Describe any writing challenges you have faced and discuss possible strategies you will employ in the future.
  • Identify which one of the five steps listed on the Understanding Your Assignment webpage you feel will be most helpful to you in planning your Week 5 final essay.
  • Describe in detail how you will apply the step you selected to the assignment prompt
