Recall from the chapter on the central nervous system (CNS) that the general senses detect such stimuli as touch, pain, and temperature. General senses refer to the fact that these receptors are relatively simple and located throughout the body in both the skin and internal organs. The special senses, in contrast, are so named because they convey a specific type of information from specialized sensory organs in discrete locations of the head. For this assignment you will;
Imagine you are driving or biking on a high-traffic road and you are approaching an intersection with a four-way stop and railroad train track. Additionally, there are three cars in the other lanes of the intersection and visibility is decreased because of foggy weather conditions.
Describe what special senses you will use to make the determination to safely proceed into the intersection.
Then, in a detailed summary, explain the pathways for each of the special senses involved.
Describe the pathways for the special senses not involved in this case and explain why they are not used.
Describe how the brain interprets information from each of those special senses.
Describe how the brain sends messages to the body to react to information from these special senses.

You are a rookie police officer on your first patrol. The older, experienced officer tells you that the restaurant on the corner likes to have you guys around, so it gives free meals. Your partner orders steak, potatoes, and all the trimmings. What are you going to do? What if it were just coffee at a convenience store? What if the owner refused to take your money at the cash register?
Example of Analysis:
Moral Judgment: Depends on the department’s rule book (often rule books specifically exclude coffee from prohibition).
The analysis will assume there is a policy prohibiting gratuities.
Moral Rules: Follow the law (and rules of one’s organization). Don’t use people or one’s profession for inappropriate personal gain. Don’t take something for nothing.
Ethical system: Ethical formalism would base the decision on duty. One’s duty is to follow the rules. Also, the second part of the categorical imperative states, treat each person as a means and not as an end. The moral rules are consistent with ethical formalism.
Utilitarianism would also condemn the practice of ignoring organizational rules. Even though it might result in a net utility for the officers and for the business owners, the department suffers from the hypocrisy and the community suffers from (perhaps) unequal patrol coverage and a lowered perception of police.
The situation is complex because it seems so innocuous and the officer who refuses to take gratuities looks like a jerk. Officers might deal with the situation in various ways—some leave a tip equal to the price of the meal; some send the money to the restaurant after the fact. Dealing with the partner is a different problem: some officers take their lunch with them to avoid the situation; some make it clear before the situation that they don’t accept free lunches and deal with the partner’s reaction. Classroom discussions are most interesting when there are police officers and restaurant workers in the same class. In this situation, each is able to hear the other’s perspective in the neutral setting.

How will you establish personal credibility as a leader? How will you model the way for others?
Establishing credibility as a leader is one of the most important aspects of leadership (Wamsiedel, 2020). The DNP scholar is well suited to serve as credible and transformational leader in todays high-demand workplace in both clinical and non-clinical aspects. I will strive to earn the respect of my team through the appropriate use of resources, following through on my decisions, and connecting with coworkers using the framework of emotional intelligence to guide my leadership decisions (Livesey, 2017). Good work relationships are based on credibility, trust, and consistency and those are the elements that I will portray in my leadership efforts to build strong alliances and effective interdisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes in healthcare (Mitchell & Boyle, 2019).
What strategies will you use to inspire a shared vision for those you lead?
The most effective strategy the DNP leader can use to inspire a shared vision for team members is to determine the vision each individual aspect of the organization has and how it fits into the overall vision of the systems future (Weiss PG, 2020). The healthcare system is made up of individual clinical and non-clinical pieces that each have a vision and aspect of what success and the future looks like. By eliciting each of these pieces, the DNP leader can analyze how they fit together to form a solid interprofessional vision for the organizations future and use it as a roadmap to success. Constant reassessment of these pieces is required to assure they agree with the plan of the organization. The dynamic environment of the healthcare industry requires constant reevaluation and organizational assessment to assure its strategies are leading it towards success and avoiding complacency (Wei et al., 2020).
How will you challenge the current process to lead change?
Leading change is sometimes not an easy task but is necessary for the DNP leader to steer the organization to positive outcomes. My initial step in leading change is to understand the vision of the organization and what the end goal is. It is also important to remember that leading change is not a linear process, but rather a circular process that requires evaluation and revision to remain on track (Weiss PG, 2020). Leading change in a healthcare organization means that multiple disciplines will be involved as well as impacted, so you must be able to identify which disciplines are impacted by all decisions and how these decisions fit into the overall vision and direction of the organization (Mitchell & Boyle, 2019). Setting realistic expectations for team members and holding people accountable are also crucial aspects of leading change and the DNP leaders is well suited for these tasks.
What strategies will you use to enable others to act?
Using shared goals and objectives is the most effective strategy for enabling members of an interdisciplinary team to act (Mitchell & Boyle, 2019). By using shared goals and objectives and communicating how these shared goals complement each discipline and work together to improve the organization, you are encouraging collaboration and will create unison and avoid creative conflicts that can interfere with success and halt progress (Hu et al., 2016). I will also treat team members with respect and dignity, while challenging them to produce creative results which ensures growth and development among individuals (Hu et al., 2016).
How will you recognize the contributions of others?
My strategies for recognizing contributions of others involve both praising the individual as well as their team for their efforts and outcomes. By recognizing the individual for their effort, you create a sense of appreciation that leads to trust and credibility (Hu et al., 2016). By recognizing the team, you are promoting camaraderie which will results in increased performance, trust, and motivation while encouraging further creativity and effort. Teams that produce extraordinary results are ones that are made up of emotionally intelligent individuals who understand the goals of their team and how their efforts will improve the organization.

The paper is going to be about “Conflict in the workplace dealing with Mergers”
The following are the best practices in preparing this paper.
Cover page: Include who you prepared the paper for, who prepared it, and the date.
Table of Contents: List the main ideas and sections of your paper and the pages on which they are located. The illustrations should be included separately.
Introduction: Use a header on your paper. This will indicate that you are introducing your paper. The purpose of an introduction or opening is to Include, in the introduction, a reason for the audience to read the paper. Also, include an overview of what you are going to cover in your paper and the importance of the material. (This should include or introduce the questions you are asked to answer on each assignment.)
Body of your report —Use a header titled with the name of your project (e.g., “The Development of Hotel X—A World Class Resort”). Then proceed to break out the main ideas. State the main ideas, state major points in each idea, and provide evidence. Break out each main idea you will use in the body of your paper. Show some type of division, such as separate sections that are labeled, separate groups of paragraphs, or headers. Here you include the information you found during your research and investigation.
Summary and conclusion —Summarizing is similar to paraphrasing but presents the gist of the material in fewer words than the original. An effective summary identifies the main ideas and major support points from the body of your report. Minor details are left out. Summarize the benefits of the ideas and how they affect the tourism industry.
Work cited —Use the citation format as specified in the Syllabus.
Reference Should be at least 6 references

Assignment Expectations: As part of your Research Project, the second assignment requirement expects students to complete a Website Evaluation of TWO websites that are acceptable for college-level academic research and contain information related to their research topic. For this assignment, students will use a search engine of their choice (e.g., Google or Bing) to find appropriate websites related to their topics. After selecting, reviewing and analyzing your two websites, students should write a 250-word analysis for each website. Keep reading to find out more about where to find websites for this assignment and what your analysis should include. As always, if you have questions, please feel free to reach out to your instructor via email.
But First, What Exactly is a Website Evaluation?:
There is a great deal of information available on the web and you can do much of your research from your computer. However, not everything on the web is suitable for academic research. This assignment will help you evaluate web sites that you find on the free web.
Before you start your Web Site Evaluation assignment, read the UMGC Library guidelines for evaluating Web resources, “Is My Source Credible,” to determine whether the contents are of high quality and acceptable for college-level academic research: and then view their video “Evaluating Web sites”:
Transcript
Welcome to this Information and Library Services Tutorial on evaluating Web sites. In this tutorial, you will learn how to determine whether a Web site contains trustworthy information that is appropriate for college level research.
Many Web sites contain trustworthy information that is appropriate to use in college-level research. But because no one regulates information placed on the Web, there are also Web sites that you would not want to use in a research paper: Web sites, for example, with out-of-date, inaccurate or biased information.
Here are some questions you can ask that will help you critically evaluate information you find on the Web:
Who is the author of the Web site?
Does the Web site present information that is biased, one-sided?
Does the Web site present accurate information?
Is the Web site current enough for your research topic?
This tutorial will explore those questions in more detail.
When evaluating a Web site, ask yourself, who has written the Web site content? Are the author’s credentials given? Think about the author’s expertise and credibility. Knowing who wrote the content can help you determine the Web site’s trustworthiness.
You may find an author whose credentials are not given on the Web site. When that happens, use Google or another search engine to see if you can find information on the author elsewhere on the Web.
Frequently, an organization can be considered the author of a Web site. For example, the author of a Web site might be a business, a professional association or a government agency. You can usually find a link on an organization’s Web site that provides information about the organization—its activities, mission, leadership and so on. Learning about the organization can help you judge the credibility of the information on the organization’s Web site.
When evaluating a Web site, also ask yourself, does the Web site present information that is objective and neutral as possible, or is the Web site presenting biased, one-sided information? Depending on your research project, it may be appropriate for you to use biased information.
For example, if you are presenting both sides of an argument in a pro/con essay about the chemical industry and environmental groups, you could cite information from a chemical industry association and from environmental activists. But you need to be aware of possible bias in a Web site and use—or not use—that Web site accordingly.
When evaluating a Web site, you should also ask, is the information on the Web site accurate? Compare the information on the Web site with knowledge you have gained from other sources in the course of your research, to see if the Web site contains errors. For example, you might compare the information in a Web site with scholarly articles you have read in library databases, with reference books and so on. Also, does the Web site give sources for the information it presents, sources you can look up and verify?
Timeliness is another important factor, especially if you are researching a subject in which knowledge can change rapidly, like health and medicine, business or technology. Does the Web site date its information? If so, is the information is current enough for the topic you are researching?
You can find trustworthy, useful information on all types of Web sites: commercial Web sites, organization, government, education Web sites and so on. But no matter what kind of Web site you are using, you must critically evaluate the information it contains.
At our library Web site, you can find more information on evaluating Web resources. And, if you have any questions about your research, please contact us via Ask a Librarian.
Assignment Directions: After selecting, reading and analyzing your websites, please make sure each analysis follows the format below and includes the following information.
First, before you get started, please note what you should not do for this assignment. Please do not use the following types of sites:
UMGC library databases (in other words, do not use any resources found in the library database like Jstor. You will use the library for these resources for later projects)
Do not use Wikipedia or any other wiki site (in fact, refrain from using these sites for any part of the research project)
Do not use any encyclopedia websites (i.e. Britannica.org. These sites are wonderful for general knowledge, but not for the requirements of this research project)
Do not use any sites that require a subscription (also, do not use any of these sites for the requirements of this research paper.)
Okay, now on to what your Website Analysis should include:
Format: Each Website Analysis should be typed in a word document, with 1-inch margins, double spaced, and include no less than 250 words.
Bibliography: At the top of each Website Analysis, students should provide a complete bibliographic entry. This complete bibliographic entry should include a formal citation, including the URL and your date of access. You should note that the required style for this class is Chicago Humanities Style (not the author/date variant). The Effective Writing Center created a short overview on using Chicago Humanities Style called “Brief Guide to Citing Sources in Chicago.” It includes a list of sources formatted in this style. The examples labeled N=footnote/endnote format and those labeled B=bibliographic entry. A copy of this guide is located in the Writing Resources section of Course Resources under Content of this LEO class site.
Analysis and Content: Each Website Analysis should include a detailed summary of the main points of the article – in your own words. Ultimately, this should be written within the first two paragraphs of your analysis and include:
Describe the content and purpose of the website
Determine the author, accuracy of information presented and website’s currency.
Explain in detail how and why you determined the site is acceptable for use in an academic research paper
Each website analysis should explain how the content pertains to your research
Explain how the site relates to your research topic or what you found on the site that relates to your topic
It is important that students share more than a simple sentence in this analysis. I would like to see a paragraph dedicated to this portion of the assignment.
Submitting Your Work: Students can submit their work under the Website Evaluation Assignment directions. Click on this assignment, scroll to the bottom of the page where you see “Add Attachments,” and then attach assignment here. Students can also submit this assignment through the Assignment tab. Students will also see the rubric attached to this assignment. Please make sure to review the rubric before submitting your final draft.
Course Paper Outline: One-page outline of your paper including main ideas – DUE 21-NOV-2020
Submit a course paper to discuss and evaluate: The regulation of tobacco products, including advertising and promotion
How to approach the paper include:
1.Chose a specific section of the FDCA (covered in the course- I will provide this) and applying it to the topic above
2.Identify a Warning letter from the FDA website and explain how the manufacturer violated the FDCA and what steps need be taken to prevent the further violation or what other enforcement actions may the FDA bring in this case.
The requirements for the paper are as follows:
Use a minimum of 3 cases discussed in the class ( I can also provide this or we can current cases being reviewed by the courts and describe how a specific decision applies to your chosen topic. The course paper is to be a minimum of 10 pages in length double-spaced (not including citations), font size 12, 1 inch margins. Organization of the Paper:
A. Introduction – State your topic and the purpose of your paper clearly – What is the main reason you are writing the paper? Explain briefly the major points you plan to cover in your paper and why readers should be interested in your topic. I have already started with and actually submitted the introduction below
“INTRODUCTION
The chosen topic of my course paper is “The regulation of tobacco products, including advertising and promotion”
Tobacco and Tobacco products are not considered therapeutic agents, yet, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that over 34 million Americans use Tobacco products. The CDC also mentions that Tobacco manufacturing companies spent over $9 billion dollars in advertisement in 2018 alone (“Tobacco industry marketing,” 2020). These are astronomical numbers for a product that raise potential health concerns.
I have thus chosen this topic to discuss the unique public health standards used by the FDA to evaluate Tobacco Products. My paper will also examine effective regulations, advertising, promotion, and statutes that impact the measures of the FDA’s evaluation of these Products.”
b. Body (Facts, Analysis, and Discussion) – Present the findings about your topic and supporting arguments. Cases would be included in this section.
c. Conclusion – Restate the reason you are writing the paper. Summarize your findings and arguments. Explain why you have come to this particular conclusion
