(a) The importance of DM in health care

Decision making is essential key in the healthcare management area. Decision making helps the decision makers to design the strategy, evaluate risk and execute the plan of the management. Decision making is crucial process for the healthcare to judge the economical side of the health care expenses and predict the future of the organization. Moreover, the physicians and other healthcare providers can evaluate the problems and gives the solution and the alternatives to the consumers. Patient choice the treatment and weigh the economic aspect of the chosen treatment option.

(b) If decision environments in health care may include certainrisk or uncertain environments. What, in your opinion, do you think is the dominant environment? What DM model would be relevant in this environment? Why?

In my opinion, the dominant environment would be the Uncertain environment in healthcare. Because healthcare area is dealing with different stage of decision makers. Like, administrators, physicians, patients and the third parties. Moreover, advancement in technology, opinion and individual’s perception affects the decision. This all changes frequently and it is called as an organized anarchy.

Shared decision-making model is relevant in this environment. This model relies on the collaboration of the providers and the patients and the family’s decision. In addition, patient gets the chance to pick the treatment plan with the information provided to him. This model works on the clinical evidence of the situation rather than the preplanned process. Moreover, this model focused on the quality, cost, and effectiveness of the treatment. This gives patient centered approach. Also, the shared approach is applied in this model. This approach gives more freedom to the patient to choose the treatment and evaluate the economical aspect of the treatment also.

According to article review, the literature review gives the information about how the shared decision-making model helps to provide the patient centered care and it improves the quality of the care. when they measured the short-term outcomes, they found the improvement in that. Specifically, they noticed in the improvement in the patient understanding, satisfaction, patient adherence, and significant reduction in the use of the resources like laboratory services and referrals. Usually physicians are not following the shared decision-making models and that will affect the quality of the patient’s care. (G, Elwyn, A, Edwards, & P, Kinnersley, 1999)

According to article, the article result showing that the advantageous effects of shared decision-making process noticed in the patient outcome. Also, the shared decision making increases the length of the patient-provider relationship. The medication adherence was decreased with the increasing the patient-provider relationship in the heart patients. Also, the positive impact was noted in the practice with the use of share decision making model. The auther also marked that the age factor matters to follow the shared decision-making model. In older patients, the physician fails to follow the model.  (A., Schoenthaler, D. M., Rosenthal, M., Butler, & L., Jacobowitz, 2018)

Rural Health and General Systems Theory

This assessment requires application of a nursing theory based on General Systems Theory and it’s relevance to rural health.

Rural populations face many challenges to receiving the health care they need. Social determinants of health such as living environment, education, access to resources, etc., all influence individual and population health. Often times, when resources are available, other determinants, such as a lack of education or self-care, financial limitations, etc., continue to inhibit care. Numerous nursing theories have developed from General Systems Theory and the idea that the “system” is made up of “subsystems” that must work collaboratively and in harmony in order to work effectively. Neuman’s Systems Model and Roy’s Adaptation Model are two of these nursing models that support the principles of General Systems Theory. For the purpose of this assignment, we will explore Roy’s Adaptation Model and answer the following:

  • Identify 2 major issues faced by rural populations in meeting their health care needs.
  • What specific social determinants of health significantly influence these issues?
  • Identify and describe 3 (out of 10) explicit assumptions of Roy’s Adaptation Model.
  • How do these assumptions apply to rural health?
  • What subsystems facilitate or hinder the overall system’s ability to meet the needs of the rural population?
  • Describe a plan or legislative process (may be one currently under review or recently passed) for improving the “healthcare system” and the potential impact on the rural population.

Make sure you also include a clear, separate introduction and conclusion as a part of this assignment, as these are worth separate points on the grading rubric.

Fire Emercency

There are 3 questions in this assignment.  Please post each in a separate attachment.

1.Preincident Plan

As discussed in the unit lesson, there are 15 items which should be considered when performing a preincident plan:

  1. construction,
  2. occupancy,
  3. apparatus and      manpower,
  4. life hazards,
  5. water supply,
  6. auxiliary appliances,
  7. street conditions,
  8. weather,
  9. exposures,
  10. area and height,
  11. location and extent,
  12. time,
  13. hazardous materials,
  14. communications, and
  15. command structure.

For this assignment, you have been tasked to create a three-page plan where you have identified a building in your area for which to create a preincident plan. Your plan should include the following items.

  • Include a title page.
  • Provide a picture of the building being reviewed and name and address of it.
  • List each of the 15 items, and discuss them for building selected. If the item is not applicable or not known, discuss why or “what-ifs.”
  • Define the building construction type of this building.
  • Identify what levels of protection exist in this building.
  • Analyze various principles of fire chemistry and fire dynamics.
  • Discuss the impacts fire could have on the emergency situations in this building.
  • Detail the actions to be taken by personnel in an emergency.
  • Include a reference page with at least your textbook.

Your report should be at least three pages (not counting the title or reference pages). The report should utilize APA guidelines. Include at least your textbook as a source and reference any additional sources that you may use

2. Within this unit, we covered water distribution systems. Based on the community served, these systems can be different. Research your own community, and describe the setting and the water distribution system that exists there. If you are not currently part of the fire service, talk to your local fire department, or call your local department/authority, and ask them about the system in your community.

Within your submission, be specific, and include other (different) systems that were discussed in this unit and how they affect your fire department’s ability to provide fire protection to your citizens. Detail what fire protection systems will be required by personnel for the types of buildings in your community and what prevention efforts can support the system being discussed. Also, discuss the fire code being followed in your community, and why personnel should have knowledge of them.

On a page by itself, include a picture of a water tower in your community, or another part of the water system, if one is not present. Be sure to use at least your textbook as a reference.

Your paper should contain at least two pages of content. Your title page, reference page, and picture page do not count as part of the total page count.

This activity should utilize APA guidelines. Include at least your textbook as a reference and any additional references that you may use.

3. As discussed this unit, many codes exist to reduce community risk. What is one code you would propose based on your personal experience? Please explain any examples and how you feel it would benefit from a fire code.

Your journal entry must be at least 200 words. No references or citations are necessary.

quality control Calculus for Business,

A quality control supervisor is looking at production machines used to fabricate steel pins for a particular product assembly. The desired specifications for acceptable pins is for a diameter of 3.52 mm, with acceptable pins being within +/- 0.1 mm. The machine must be realigned to the target diameter if it appears that the population mean for all rods produced by that machine is different than 3.52 mm at 95% confidence/5% significance. A machine must be recalibrated for consistency if it appears that the population percentage (proportion) of unacceptable rods is above 10%, again at 95% confidence/5% significance. The accompanying Fathom file contains rod diameter measurements in mm for random samples of rods taken from three different production machines on a given day. The goal of this project is for you to apply statistical inference procedures (confidence intervals and significance tests) to determine which if any of the machines need to be serviced, and how. 1. Produce appropriate graphs to display the sample distributions, and briefly comment on what they reveal or don’t reveal. 2. Conduct appropriate inference procedure(s) for each machine to determine if the population mean rod diameter for rods produced by that machine appears to be 3.52 mm, using 95% confidence/5% significance. Make sure you complete all of the steps for the procedure, including a check of the technical conditions. Fathom or other technology should be used, rather than by-hand calculations. Make sure to state your conclusions in context, indicating whether or not each machine should be serviced to realign the target diameter. 3. Conduct appropriate inference procedure(s) for each machine to determine if the population proportion of unacceptable rods produced by that machine appears to be more than 0.10, using 95% confidence/5% significance. Make sure you complete all of the steps for the procedure, including a check of the technical conditions. Fathom or other technology should be used, rather than by-hand calculations. Make sure to state your conclusions in context, indicating whether or not each machine should be serviced to recalibrate for consistency. While looking at a graph, you can right-click on the center of a graph and choose “Plot Value” to graph a vertical line at each of the cutoffs for acceptable rods, 3.42 and 3.62, in order to see which rods fall outside the acceptable range. Also, items are dynamically linked in Fathom, so if you click on a point on the graph, or select a group of points by click-holding and drawing a box around them, the point(s) are highlighted on any comparative graphs and their row(s) in the table are highlighted as well. The video here shows how this can be done. http://screencast.com/t/Fvtct098 4. An employee claims that random samples were not in fact taken from both Machine 2 and Machine 3, but rather both samples were taken from the same machine. Perform significance  tests to compare the population mean rod diameters, and population proportions of unacceptable rods using the samples “supposedly” from Machine 2 and Machine 3. Using support from the results of these procedures, do you think that the employee is telling the truth? Your submission should be typed in a word processor, and saved as .doc, .docx, or .pdf format. The graphs and Fathom Summary calculation boxes must be included. Make sure all calculations are interpreted in context, and that you explain what they mean in answering the questions.   A quality control supervisor is looking at production machines used to fabricate steel pins for a particular product assembly. 1. What could a recruiter do to interest you in applying for a company you have never heard of before? What tactics/information would persuade you to apply?

A job recruiter can interest someone in applying for a company, even if they are unfamiliar with the corporation through developing a recruitment message. Like a firm’s recruiters, image, and employer value proposition, the recruiting message communicated to potential applicants will affect the number and types of them who will apply (Phillips, 2020, p.257). In addition to communicating the nature of the job opportunity that the company is offering, the message can also create or reflect the company’s brand (Phillips, 2020, p.257). A good image as an employer can stir the rate of recruiting large pool of candidates, like branding attracts consumers in marketing (Sharif & Islam, 2017). This employment branding can attract and retain top class employees while ensuring organizational growth (Sharif & Islam, 2017). Millions of applicants apply everyday to jobs of which they have never heard of, or are listed for what type of field they are looking to work in. If the job is listed on a website, providing information about the company (i.e. when they were established, a little about how many locations they have, their mission, vision, and values, and how many employees they have) can help ease questions with working for an unknown company.

 2. As a recruiter for a small organization, Annika’s aprons, you need to expand your recruitment efforts beyond your website and word of mouth. Which recruitment sources would you recommend for Annika to recruit for her 2 shops? Use justification for your choices.

I can understand why Annika would need to use additional recruitment methods other the website and word of mouth to help promote her 2 shops.  By using a job board and social media advertising might help to find candidates.  “Finding qualified candidates can sometimes be difficult.  By using recruiting software can help find a candidate within the database that can meet the necessary requirements. By posting open job positions on job board around the community and at colleges and universities allows the potential candidates to see what jobs are listed and attract a larger number of candidates.  Some job boards are free and can help build good rapport within the community.

Social media can be used to attract job candidates.  By using social media sties, a person will be more open to job opportunities and they will have information about their skills and job history making it easier to find a good candidate.” (Top Echelon, 2020).  At the organization where I work, we use the job boards and social media to advertise our open job positions.  On the job board we can advertise to the community of jobs that are available for free.  By working with the employment office, colleges, and universities, and posting on the community job board.  We also use Facebook, LinkedIn and indeed to help advertise our open job positions.  In return this has helped us save a lot of money in the recruitment process.  Even though it does take some time to find a qualified candidate.

Motivating Employees

Overview

Imagine that you have been appointed the director of health at the Kaluyu Memorial Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya—a for-profit hospital. The facility is also a referral hospital and receives severe cases of accidents and chronicle and communicable diseases, and it houses an HIV/AIDS ward. As you settle into your position, you realize that the employees always act scared as they approach their superiors. Some of the employees deliver files and leave your office in a hurry.

As you make your routine departmental visits, you realize that there are tensions between nurses and doctors, and there is a sentiment that the nurses tend to do the majority of the work within patient care but the doctors get all the credit. You realize that the employees are always looking forward to the end of their shifts when they can go home. Some employees even come back to work wearing the same unwashed clothes as the previous day. Too many employees are calling in sick, and many of them give weak reasons for their tardiness.

There is also a sense that employees and nurses dominate other employees in similar positions. In meetings and conference calls, some employees are quiet and never participate. You notice that people with families tend to gather and talk quietly on breaks. The new mothers working for the hospital have to use bathrooms to pump breast milk for their infants, and the refrigerators do not work well. Looking at the financial statements of the hospital, you realize that the hospital’s expenses are higher than the industry standard, and it makes losses year after year.

Note: You may create or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Preparation

As part of your preparation for this assignment, please read the following:

Requirements

Write a 4–6 page paper in which you:

  • Investigate the major demotivational factors at Kaluyu Memorial Hospital. Assess the level of impact that the identified factors could have on specific areas of service and business if the administration does not address the situation. Support your response with at least two examples of the potential negative impact of the identified demotivational factors on the hospital.
  • Read the overviews of the three major motivational theories (Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Herzberg’s two-factor theory, and McClelland’s acquired needs theory). After reading all three, choose the theory that you think best fits this scenario and defend that choice in your assignment.
  • Formulate a communication system that will have the greatest impact on improving the situation, and specify the major reasons why your system will influence the employee behaviors for the better. Justify your response.
  • Go to Basic Search: Strayer University Online Library to find four recent (within the last five years) quality academic resources for this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other websites do not qualify as quality academic resources.

Personal Reading Process

Personal Reading Process

[WLOs: 1, 2, 3] [CLOs: 1, 3]

This week, you will reflect on what you read, how you read, and why you read, and then share your personal reading process.

This assignment has two goals. The first is to give you practice reflecting on your experience with reading and examining how those experiences have impacted the way you read today. The second is to give your instructor insight into who you are as a student and a reader so your instructor can better assist you throughout the course.

There are two parts to this assignment. In the first part, you will share your reading experience. Think about how you learned to read, what you like to read, whether you make time to read, and if you enjoy reading. In the second part, you will read two articles and respond to the information presented in those articles. Your essay should be 500 to 750 words in length.

Part 1: Personal Reading Experience

Answer the following questions. Remember the point is not to be right or wrong, but to look at your current reading habits so you can figure out what’s working, what isn’t, and what you can do to improve your habits and strategies. Each bullet point should be addressed in its own paragraph:

  • Describe your experience learning to read.
    • Do you remember when you first learned to read? What was that experience like? As you’ve gotten older, has reading been easy or difficult for you?
  • Develop examples of how you prepare to read.
    • Do you take any special steps or do you dive in? Does it depend on what or why you are reading?
  • Discuss your college-level reading experience thus far.
    • Do you embrace it or avoid it? Do you skim or skip sections? Do you skip reading altogether?

Part 2: Reading on Screens

Prior to beginning work on this section, review the following articles:

Consider the information in the two articles, and address the following, addressing each bullet point in its own paragraph:

  • Describe your reaction to the articles.
    • What do you agree with and why? What do you disagree with and why?
  • Compare your experience with ereaders or reading online to the information shared in the articles.
    • How have your experiences been similar or different?
  • Explain the impact you think the information in these articles will have on your reading in college.

For this assignment, your essay should be double-spaced and written using Times New Roman 12-point font.

Carefully review your essay before you submit and consider these questions:

  • Did you write at least six paragraphs? Each bullet point should be covered by one paragraph of writing.
  • Did you answer the questions in every bullet, as specified in the assignment instructions?
  • Was each paragraph organized to effectively cover what was asked for in the instructions?
  • Did you double-check spelling, grammar, punctuation, and organization? Grammarly (Links to an external site.) is a great tool to help with this!

PDP Part C: SMART Goals

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN (I have finished part A & part B, and i posted them below. You ONLY need to do Part C !!!)

A Professional Development Plan (PDP) allows us to analyze and reflect on our current state, clarify where we wish to go, and define specific action steps to take in that direction. In this course each of you will draft your own Plan.

Why: The process of self-reflection and goal setting in written form helps us build clarity and intentionality. This helps us to achieve our goals.

How: We will work on this activity progressively through both individual homework assignments and in-class activities that deepen your individual exploration.

This plan has three parts that form individual assignments:

Part A: Self-Reflection and Analysis — due in Class 3

Part B: Feedback from External Sources — due in Class 5*

Part C: SMART Goals and Next Steps — due in Class 8

*Note that you will need to request input from others for Part B. Therefore, I suggest you send your requests for input in Class 3.

Below find instructions for each part.

Submit each part separately on Canvas under the individual assignments A, B, or C at the appropriate time.

Reminder that late submissions will lose 10% for each 24 hours they are late.

This process is an exploration into your leadership goals. Look for what is authentically you and what you care about, as you reflect on who you are and as you set goals for yourself.
