Describe an example of one of these groups in the United States or from another country.

There are many vulnerable populations around the world. Some examples are low-income children, chronically ill individuals, homeless individuals, people who suffer from mental illness, ethnic minorities, and elderly individuals. There are many not listed above however, as the baby boomer population is growing older and homeless and drug addiction are on the rise, the list of vulnerable individuals is increasing.

Low-income children have any reasons why they are considered a vulnerable population. One of those reasons is children born into poverty are twice as likely to live in poverty as an adult compared to a child that was not. Another reason is that children born in poverty are more likely to suffer from early nutritional deficiencies that have lifelong effects. Also, children born into poverty are less likely to receive a quality education and are less likely to have the support after school to help with their studies. The two most alarming reasons that low-income children are considered a vulnerable population is because extreme poverty is linked to multiple forms of child abuse and children born in extreme poverty have a statically shorter life expectancy. (Concern Worldwide US, 2019)

“Currently, the United Nations estimates that nearly 385 million children around the world are living below the universal poverty line. They also have fewer options available to them to break the cycle of poverty given that they have less agency than adults and are often the subjects of abuse and mistreatment as a direct result of poverty. (Concern Worldwide US, 2019)” This population, unlike some of the other vulnerable populations, are not able to speak up for themselves. This population does not have the knowledge or life experience to know their options on speaking up for themselves or finding a way out until they are older. I grew up in poverty but I had a fantastic mom and always felt like I lived a great life, but I know that is not the same for many children. Due to the inability to speak up for themselves, rather because of resources or knowledge, it is especially important for nurses to be a voice for these children. There is not many fields in medicine where you are not working with the family unit as a whole, so it is important to listen and education your patients on a healthy family unit and to always report any type of mistreatment. It is also important to make sure that your patients families have food and shelter and to give appropriate resources when needed.

Using 200-300 APA format with references to support the discussion.

ompare vulnerable populations. Describe an example of one of these groups in the United States or from another country. Explain why the population is designated as “vulnerable.” Include the number of individuals belonging to this group and the specific challenges or issues involved. Discuss why these populations are unable to advocate for themselves, the ethical issues that must be considered when working with these groups, and how nursing advocacy would be beneficial.

Professional practice reflection

Detailed instructions

This is a reflective paper that builds on the case scenario that you engaged in assessment 1 as well as your learning in the subject more broadly. While in assessment 1 you delivered a business case that responded to an organisational challenge, you now need to reflect more deeply and critically on the potential implementation issues around your chosen change initiative and how you will make it sustainable. Following on from that, you will reflect on your own knowledge gaps and key insights in relation to change and consider how this will apply to your current and/or future professional practice. Throughout the paper, you are asked to integrate academic theory and research with your personal insights and use reflective language and here you can find some advice on Reflective WritingLinks to an external site.). For a recommended structure, please consider table 1.

STUDENT DISCUSSION REPLY

-Reply post should be at least 150 words and should significantly further our discussion. Remember to do more than just agree or disagree with your classmates. Support your ideas with details, examples, and quotes (cite your sources as well). Proper academic writing is expected. Be sure to include word counts at the end of each posting

-The general purpose of a speech is to inform, persuade or entertain an audience. All speeches will fall into one of these three categories The specific purpose of a speech is the idea or statement that gives your speech direction beyond the general purpose. It is your responsibility to find the specific purpose of your speech. There are three general speech purposes to inform, to persuade, and to entertain. Most of your speeches will fall under either the inform or persuade general purpose.

The purpose of informative communication is to increase the receiver’s knowledge and understanding of a subject. Informative speeches may also entertain or change beliefs. In informative speaking, your main concern is to make the audience understand and remember the information you present.

The major function of the persuasive speech is to induce the audience to think, feel, or act in a manner selected by the speaker. You may want your listeners to discard old beliefs or form new ones; or you may merely want to strengthen opinions that they already hold.

The third major type of speech has the purpose of entertaining the audience. Here the word “entertainment” is used in its broadest sense to include anything that stimulates a pleasurable response, whether it is humorous or dramatic. The speaker is not concerned with ensuring that they learn a great deal or that they change their mind in one direction or another.

These are the three major speech purposes. If you know exactly what the purpose of your speech is, you will have a guide for your preparation.

On a specific speech the purpose is stated in terms of informing persuading or entertaining an immediate reaction of a precisely formulated specific purpose. which describes the exact nature of response you would want from your audience.

Cloning

Should the government allow cloning for tissues, organs etc..? What are some reasons to be concerned about cloning research? Explain your concerns. *Remember cloning can be discussed in food, animals, plants or humans. 100 WORDS

Reply to a students post stating reasons to support why these concerns can be beneficial? 100 WORDS

STUDENT’S POST:

Scientist been talking about cloning for centuries to improve human life and event down to food products. We must remember that human cloning is illegal in some states, and institutions that receive U.S. federal funding are prohibited from experimenting with it, but there is no federal ban on human cloning in the United States.  We just can’t use cloning for financial gain.

Question we have to ask is, what is cloning? Cloning is the development of offspring that are genetically identical to their parents. We have to understand the pros and cons of cloning to better understand the process of cloning. There are pros of cloning like genetically alter animals to produce organs that can more easily be transplanted into humans., allow individuals or couples to reproduce through means other than sexual reproduction, and grow replacement human organ tissue from scratch. There are also some cons of cloning like cloning children could foster an understanding that children can be designed and replicated to the parents’ wishes, 95% of animal cloning has ended in failure due to genetic defects, and cloning is considered unsafe because of it and some researchers believe that eating GMO foods can contribute to the development of cancer.  I think we have to do more research and especially focus on the important thing that may need to be cloned are my not. But one thing we know is that cloning can get out of hand and cause us as human a major setback.

Background

Barnes and Noble is a Fortune 500 company that is one of the few sole nationwide “brick and mortar” booksellers to still be in business after years of its competitors going out of business. They operate in all 50 States with 627+ retail outlets.

As you might expect, Barnes and Noble faces massive competitive pressure from online competitors like Amazon and must discover new ways to identify and satisfy their customers’ needs. Indeed, Amazon continuously implements innovative approaches to deliver both print and electronic content to its customers, including products like the Amazon Kindle.

Barnes and Noble sales and profits have been somewhat stagnant over the past several years and declined last year in an otherwise robust economy. Therefore, it is no surprise that it appears there is a transition of ownership to a hedge fund, which will do its best to “turn-around” the struggling bookseller. Please read this article which provides details on financial performance and ownership of Barnes and Noble: NY Times Article on B&N

Conduct as much additional research as you need on Barnes and Noble to fully understand the company and competitive environment before moving on to the case instructions.

Case Instructions

You will write this paper as if you (or your team) is a marketing consultant that’s been brought in to help improve sales.

You have decided that Barnes and Noble’s TV and Video DVD section is a “Dog” according to the Boston Consulting Group Overview and are committed to convincing Barnes and Noble Management to invest in what you believe are promising Question Marks.

This may help you relate to the problem you are trying to address – please watch the following video of what this part of their store looks like. This video was taken when the rest of the store was quite busy, and there were long lines! TV and Movie DVD Section of a Large Barnes and Noble Store

Each student, whether part of a team or working on their own, should come up with a recommendation and make a case for an entirely new product line to take the place of the TV and Movie DVD section of the Barnes and Noble store.

It is expected that whatever product line and/or service you choose, you will support it with at least 1-2 citations to support your pitch. You need to make the argument for an entirely new set of products or new service that you believe will transform this part of their stores.

Above all, feel free to be creative and consultative in your approach to writing this paper.

If you are having trouble getting started with the paper, watch the video again. Think back to the BCG Growth-Share Matrix. You are making a case for a Question Mark – a new business to replace a dying one! Now all you have to do is identify a new series of products that you think Barnes and Noble should sell in place of the TV and Movie DVDs at their 627+ stores.

I have no problem sharing with you one idea I had to help you get started. I had thought about Barnes and Noble having a part of the store that was “members only” with an annual subscription where members could take items home with them and return – much like a library but with the very latest in literary options. Innovating on pricing for the new product line or brand extension may help come up with a good recommendation for Barnes and Noble.Yes, you can use this idea if you so wish but the implementation and justification will need to be very well supported.

You may have ideas on another product line altogether or something a bit more on the experiential side. As long as you support your ideas and write in a professional business manner, you are on the right path.

Week 5 – Research Paper Bitcoin Economics

This week’s reading centered around Bitcoin Economics. For this week’s research paper, search the Internet and explain why some organizations are accepting and other organizations are rejecting the use of Bitcoins as a standard form of currency. Your paper needs to identify two major companies that have adopted Bitcoin technology as well as one that has refused accepting Bitcoin as a form of currency. Be sure to discuss each organization, how they adopted (or why they won’t adopt) Bitcoin, and what recommendations you have for them to continue to support Bitcoin (or why they should support Bitcoin).
Your paper should meet these requirements:

  • Be approximately four to six pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.
  • Follow APA 7 guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.
  • Support your answers with the readings from the course and at least two scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook. The UC Library is a great place to find resources.
  • Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

  • Select an organization, e.g., a corporation, company, firm or association (ideally, an organization which you have some interest in starting or running) for in-depth analysis of their operations management practices.
  • The term paper should be at least 1,500 words with at least 3 scholarly references in addition to your eText for a minimum of 4 total references. Use scholarly peer-reviewed references rather than websites. For example, it’s best NOT to use news websites, Wikipedia, investopedia.com, about.com, smallbusiness.chron.com, huffingtonpost.com, ehow.com, forbes.com, cnn.com, online encyclopedias, or similar non-academic websites. it adds much more credibility to use the class eText, other related textbooks, and peer-reviewed articles, i.e. It is acceptable to use a company website for research, say for example if you are researching Apple, it’s ok to use www.apple.com to describe their mission, strategy, financials, etc.
The Term Paper will consist of five major sections:
  1. Background and Context: Discuss type of industry, products/services, and how organizational vision and strategies have influenced their operations management.
  2. Analysis of current operations management practices and organizational culture.
  3. Analysis of key terms and principles learned in class and how they relate to the current status and future goals of the company.
  4. Your recommendations for the next 1-2 years of the company in regards to operations management. Ensure that these align with the organization’s vision and values.
  5. References – Use at least 3 scholarly references in addition to your eText for a minimum of 4 total references.

Music, Gender and Identity

Choose a song that has been influential in your formation of identity. It can be related to gender, sexuality, ethnicity/race, or class. In this discussion, discuss freely:

1. how gender, sexuality, ethnicity/race, or class is represented in the song (including lyrics, the visual representations in the music video, etc.).

2. how such representations influence your identity.

Here is an example:

I think one of the songs that have significantly impacted my understanding of gender and sexuality is Faye Wong’s I Do (ch. wo yuanyi). The lyric of the song is quite traditional in terms of gender and sexuality representation: women are passive, emotional, and irrational (I will forget my name for the sake of you. If you can hold me one more second, I will not regret if I lose the whole world). In the lyric, “you” is written 你 rather than 妳 (according to the complicated Chinese script), the latter referring to females. Therefore, the song also conforms to heterosexuality in which women desiring men. However, in the MV, Faye Wong wearing very short hair and loose dress, which kind of breaks gender stereotypes of women with long hair (especially given the era when the MV was shot) and present a sort of degendered image. Her non-stereotypical look was especially influential for me as I realized that women could look “different” and beautiful, while adhering to conventional sexuality.
