Multi-Touch Screens Versus Mouse-Driven Screens

Multi-Touch Screens Versus Mouse-Driven Screens

Resources

The following resources may be helpful when completing this assignment.

Scenario

Computer applications that run on desktop and laptop computers  have, for a long time, been designed to be driven by dragging and  clicking a mouse. With the introduction of tablet personal computers,  the trend has shifted toward using touch-based screens. We now have  access to touch-based TVs, touch-based monitors, touch-based laptops,  and touch-based tablets. Touch and multi-touch devices provide end users  with the ability to interact physically with an application much more  naturally.

Imagine that you are the Information Technology Director of a  major chain restaurant, and you have been assigned to design a menu  ordering application that can run on all devices. Examine whether using a  touch-screen monitor, a tablet, or a mouse to select menu items to  place an order would be most efficient. Speculate how employees would  interact with these devices and the type of emotional reaction that  customers and employees will experience while placing a beverage,  appetizer, or entrée order.

Instructions

Write a 4–5 page paper in which you:

  1. Differentiate between the interaction types and styles that apply to multi-touch screens and applications running on them.
  2. Determine the conceptual model that you would use when designing a product for your restaurant.
  3. Describe the key analogies and concepts these monitors expose  to users, including the task-domain objects users manipulate on the  screen.
  4. Determine one utility or tool in an application for touch-based  and mouse-driven screens that should be designed with memory retention  or recall. Provide a rationale for your response.
  5. Use at least three quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources. You may use the resources above or others of your choosing.

This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For  assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing  Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course. Check with your  professor for any additional instructions.

The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:

  • Analyze the functionality required to allow an application to run on multiple types of devices.

AccountingMethodsForLeaders_Assessment4

Prepare either a 3-4 page report or a 12-slide presentation in which you analyze financial information and risks associated with an investment to expand an organization and make a recommendation on whether or not to invest in expansion.

Introduction

This portfolio work project will allow you to review information and risks associated with an investment to expand an organization. As this information will be shared broadly across the organization, you will have a choice in your final deliverable audience and will organize your deliverable to meet the needs of that audience.

Scenario

ZXY Company is a food product company. ZXY is considering expanding to two new products and a second production facility. The food products are staples with steady demands. The proposed expansion will require an investment of $7,000,000 for equipment with an assumed ten-year life, after which all equipment and other assets can be sold for an estimated $1,000,000. They will be renting the facility. ZXY requires a 12 percent return on investments. You have been asked to recommend whether or not to make the investment.

Your Role

You are an accounting manager. Your boss has asked you to review and provide a recommendation on the expansion based on information that has been provided.

Requirements

In preparing and supporting your recommendation to either make the investment or not, include the following items as part of your analysis:

  • Analysis of financial information.
  • Identification of risks associated with the investment. Consider:
    • How risky the project appears.
    • How far off your estimates of revenues and expenses can be before your decision would change.
    • The difference if the company were to use a straight line versus a MACRS depreciation.
  • Recommendation for a course of action.
  • Explanation of criteria supporting your recommendation.
Financial Information

As part of your analysis you might find that additional information from marketing, accounting, or finance would be useful in making an informed and well-supported recommendation. In a real workplace setting you would have the ability to ask for that information. However, for the purposes of this assessment, you can make assumptions about the values of that data or ratios in support of your recommendation.

Accounting worked with the marketing group to create the ZXY Company Financial Statements spreadsheet for the new products business and the new facility.

Notes about the financial information:

  • The expense line labeled SQF FDA Mandates refers to the costs of complying with Food and Drug Administration requirements.
  • Depreciation expense is calculated using 7-year life modified accelerated cost recovery system (MACRS).

Deliverable Format

Depending on the audience you choose to address, use one of the following options:

  • Report for a mid-management audience. Prepare a 3–4 page report detailing your recommendation and the information you used to make your recommendation.
  • Presentation for top leadership. Prepare a presentation of at least 12 slides detailing your recommendation and the information you used to make your recommendation. You may use your choice of presentation software. Include notes with additional details.

Keep in mind that your recommendation may be shared with others, so your materials should be designed for clarity and readability.

Related company standards for either format:
  • The recommendation report is a professional document and should therefore follow the corresponding MBA Academic and Professional Document Guidelines, including single-spaced paragraphs.
  • In addition to the report or presentation, include:
    • Title (slide or page).
    • References (slide or page).
    • Appendix with supporting materials.
    • At least two APA-formatted references.

Evaluation

By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies through corresponding scoring guide criteria:

  • Competency 2: Apply principles of accounting to assess financial performance.
    • Analyze financial statements for decision support.
    • Explain risks associated with an investment decision.
  • Competency 3: Analyze accounting information to support business decisions.
    • Recommend a course of action based on financial information.
    • Explain how financial criteria support a decision.
  • Competency 4: Communicate financial information with multiple stakeholders.
    • Communicate accounting information clearly.

Organizational Behaviour

Reflection and Discussion:

Reflect on the assigned readings for the week. Identify what you thought was the most important concept(s), method(s), term(s), and/or any other thing that you felt was worthy of your understanding.

Also, provide a graduate-level response to each of the following questions:

  1. You are working as a manager of a financial planning office where you require your employees to have a presence on social media. One of your financial advisors posts to his Twitter account that he needs $500 to pay his rent for the month. Would you punish him? Why or why not?

Problem Set:

1. As a student of organizational behavior, you have the opportunity to investigate what factors lead employees to make certain choices. What can this in turn help you do within your job?

2. It is important for service organizations to include customer needs and requirements in assessing their effectiveness. Why is this so? Discuss

3. Explain “workforce diversity.” What key managerial skill do you think is most important when dealing with workforce diversity?

The assignment is to answer the question provided above in essay form. This is to be in narrative form. Bullet points should not to be used. The paper should be at least 1.5 – 2 pages in length, Times New Roman 12-pt font, double-spaced, 1 inch margins and utilizing at least one outside scholarly or professional source related to organizational behavior. This does not mean blogs or websites. This source should be a published article in a scholarly journal. This source should provide substance and not just be mentioned briefly to fulfill this criteria. The textbook should also be utilized. Do not use quotes. Do not insert excess line spacing. APA formatting and citation should be used.

A description of your field education experience, including your agency, the types of social services offered, and the population groups or clientele your agency serves

At Behavioral Health Services I have had the opportunity to engage in a parenting group, observe and engage in crisis responding, observe assessments and engage in system partner networking. It has been interesting to engage with clients in the clinic and in the community as the environments do impact the clients state of mind and levels of vulnerability. BHS is a branch within the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic within the agency there is medical services, dental services, optometry, WIC services and psychiatric services. Within BHS there are several smaller programs such as Behavioral Rehabilitation Services which is the foster care program. There is also Wraparound Intensive Services, Outpatient Services and as previously mentioned Psychiatric care. BHS serves clients from ages 5 years old and up although the program prioritizes children and extends services to established clients extended family. Clientele consists of minority families mostly of Hispanic or Native American descent and also Caucasian. Yakima Valley Farm Worker Clinic was intended for the agricultural worker population as indicated by the name of the agency. I have also enjoyed the many trainings that were available to me to prepare for engaging with clients in an informed and ethical manner.

An explanation of how engagement occurs in your field education experience

Clients are referred to services by community partners their PCP, School counselors, DCYF social workers and by their direct family or selves. Clients under 13 years old must be registered by their legal guardian and those of 13 years of age or older can agree and engage in services on their own. An intake is done to identify diagnosis and appropriate therapist assignment. After intake the client, clinician and guardian develop a treatment plan to establish goals for therapeutic needs. A referral for medication management can be made with Psychiatry to stabilize the client during the therapeutic process. There is 24/7 crisis services available for clients as well when there is a mental health need after hours. In practicing the 9 core competencies on my learning agreement I have also had the opportunity to witness the power of empathy which as illustrated by Gerdes and Segal clients who experience empathy through treatment planning have improved outcomes (2011). The Agency slogan is “We are family” emphasizing the importance of treating everyone in the community with dignity, respect and compassion.

A description of your field education experience, including your agency, the types of social services offered, and the population groups or clientele your agency serves

My field education experience has been good. I have been lucky to be able to get a full workload and to strengthen and improve my social work skills. Within my agency there are many services to provide clients within the community. However, I have been working within the foster care system providing supervised visits for biological parents and their children with the hopes of reunification of the children in the home.

On the other hand, I have just begun working with clinical clients and have been given multiple referrals to fill the rest of my case load. In doing so, I have been able to learn different social work skills as I have never worked in the foster care system. This experience has been a great learning experience in that sense. This agency works with all populations and ages. Thus, my caseload consists of families, adolescents, children as well as the professionals associated with these cases.

An explanation of how engagement occurs in your field education experience

Within this field experience there has been multiple opportunities for engagement. Engagement can include completion of the learning agreement (Laureate Education, 2013). For instance, engaging in the learning agreement allows interns to communicate with their supervisors to develop roles, outcomes and skills that they would like to improve on as well as strengthen. On the other hand, engagement can consist of interns being able to demonstrate social work skills (Laureate Education, 2013). This type of engagement can be seen as interns working with clients after creating learning agreement to meet their goals. In other words, interns utilize their learning agreements as a guide to use social work skills when working with clients.

A description of your field education experience, including your agency, the types of social services offered, and the population groups or clientele your agency serves

For my concentration year social work internship, I have elected to intern at a hospice agency, known as Valley’s Best Hospice, which provides hospice home health services to eligible patients living in the greater Los Angeles communities of Palmdale and Lancaster, CA. So far I am really enjoying the work I have been able to do for the agency and specifically for the patients on my current caseload. I find the work to be very rewarding and low-stress. Much of my patient-direct care involves assessing for needs, barriers, mental health concerns, and providing general case management and patient companionship care to my patients and family members. Educating patients and family members on death and dying and assessing for anticipatory grief symptoms is also a major part of hospice social work.

An explanation of how engagement occurs in your field education experience

So much of hospice care is centered around engagement. The use of empathy skills is necessary to build rapport and boost client engagement (Gerdes & Segal, 2011). When engagement skills such as empathy, listening skills, and effective communication skills are applied, hospice social works are better able to connect with their patients as well as the family members and complete a thorough psychosocial assessment of their needs.

Draft 1 of Prospectus

he purpose of this course is for you to complete a quality and rigorous Prospectus. As discussed earlier, your Prospectus will be the plan, or “blueprint,” for your Proposal, which comprises the first three chapters of your Dissertation. Because of the importance of the Prospectus, you have been asked to write it section by section throughout these past eight weeks, in the context of learning about each required component. For this Assignment, you will complete and submit the first draft of your Prospectus. After feedback from your instructor, you will revise and edit your Prospectus, and submit the second and final draft for the course in Week 10.

Note that, even when your course instructor approves your Prospectus, it will not be in final form until you work with your Dissertation committee chair and committee member to complete it to their satisfaction.

They will complete the Prospectus Rubric, with their approval, and your chair will submit both rubrics and your approved Prospectus to the Center for Research Quality (CRQ).  Once the committee members have reviewed your prospectus, and the chair has reconciled the scores in TaskStream, the prospectus document then passes to the Program Director or designee for review.

This assignment is the first draft of the prospectus, and should be as complete as possible.  First, review the Abstract Guidelines, Dissertation Prospectus Guide, Prospectus Exemplars, and all other Dissertation Resources.

Cybersecurity 14

Create a one-page document of a personal disaster recovery procedure for your home computer. Be sure to include what needs to be protected and why. Also include information about where your data backups are stored and how they can be retrieved. Does your DRP show that what you are doing to protect your assets is sufficient? Should any changes be made?

Include in your plan, several good online backup services can help make data backup easy for the user. Use a search engine to search for online backup service reviews, and select three different services. Research these services and note their features. Create a table that lists each service and compare their features. Be sure to also include costs. Which would you recommend? Why?

Also consider, although not as full-featured as online backup services, several free synchronization storage tools allow users to back up data by synchronization: when you place a file in a designated folder, it is automatically stored to the remote site. Several of these sites offer free storage from 5 GB to unlimited space. Use a search engine to search for free cloud synch storage, and select three different services. Research these services and note their features. Create a table that lists each product and compare their features. Be sure to include storage space limits. How do they compare to online backup services? Which would you recommend? Why?

Write at least a one-page document of a DRP, include the use of online backup services (paid/free) and the table that list and compare the backup services.

Choosing a Methodolog

A project plan is a document created at the beginning of the project lifecycle that gives stakeholders and everyone else involved a clear idea of what the project will entail in terms of effort, time, cost, and anticipated results.

The methodology or approach the project manager plans to use to manage the project must be identified before the project plan can be created. Choosing a methodology is important because a methodology provides the framework—that is, an overall process and suggested documents and deliverables—that will guide project development from beginning to end. Some project methodologies are more appropriate for some types of projects than for others.

Over the next few weeks you will develop pieces of a project plan. This week you will determine your methodology based on project requirements and the components needed in your plan.

Read the Manage Your Health Inc. Case Study and complete the assignment below.

Consider the differences between Agile and waterfall.

Select 1 methodology to use for a project plan for this initiative.

Create a simplified project plan such as the examples listed in the “Tips” section below. Include, at least, the following criteria:

  • Name of task
  • Duration
  • Predecessors
  • Notes

After completing your simplified project plan, write a 175-word paragraph and complete the following:

  • Define which methodology, Agile or waterfall, is most appropriate for this project. Why? Cite at least 2 sources to support your rationale.
  • Describe the following roles for this project: project manager, project sponsor, business analyst, and scrum master or program manager.

You may create your simplified project plan using Microsoft® Excel® or another software application of your choice.

Tips:
  • Research additional project plan examples online.
  • Consider the application characteristics and requirements when building your project plan. For example, the app will require a search feature so employees can search for available programs, will require security to protect personal information, etc., which will help with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Note: This information will be helpful in the Wk 2 – Apply: Work Breakdown Structure assignment.
  • Read the 2 linked examples of project plans implemented as Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheets: Example Plan A and Example Plan B. Use these as guides in creating your own draft project plan. Notice the differences between these 2 examples in terms of length (overall and task length), structure of the work breakdown (iterative vs. non-iterative), and methodology.

week 7 PSY 7711 REPLIES

 Sophia Augedahl Unit 7 DiscussionCOLLAPSE

The raw data in figure 3-17 displays an A-B-A-B research design. This design consists of a baseline and treatment phase followed by withdrawing treatment in the second baseline phase and implementing a second phase of the treatment (Miltenberger, 2016). In this case, the baseline and treatment phases are occurring for the same behavior, same subject, and same setting (Miltenberger, 2016). The first baseline phase is shown in the figure in months one through four, then the first intervention phase is introduced in months five through nine (Miltenberger, 2016). Another baseline phase is implemented in months 10 through 12, and the second intervention phase in months 13 through 16 (Miltenberger, 2016). The data collected meet the criteria of at least three data points and are not shifted in phases until stable responding has been met and there is no trend in the data (Miltenberger, 2016). There is little variability in the data before a phase is switched from baseline to treatment or vice versa. The two conditions of baseline and treatment phases can be compared within a time period and no extraneous variables can cause differences between conditions (Miltenberger, 2016). Based on the data collected, the intervention of daily reminders to turn out lights and turn off appliances was effective in both treatment phases in reducing the kilowatts of electricity used per month by the fraternity house (Miltenberger, 2016). To make this a changing-criterion design, I would gather baseline data to help determine an appropriate criterion for the first treatment phase. Each treatment phase could aim to be achieved in 10 days or less, and the criterion goal could decrease by 500 kilowatts each phase to systematically reduce the amount of electricity being used. To the intervention itself, I would continue the daily reminders in the morning and also add a midday reminder, as well as incentives for reaching the criterion in each phase. Because the reminder one time per day demonstrated effectiveness in the A-B-A-B design, I would expect that another reminder and the addition of incentives would result in greater reductions in kilowatts of electricity used by the fraternity.

Based on the raw data in figure 3–17, the type of design presented is the

A-B-A-B reversal design. The visual analysis of the within and between  conditions show first baseline has a high level, little variability, and no trend. The first intervention shows moderate level, stable variability, with very slight decsending trend. Then the second baseline is showing a moderate to high level, stable variability, with no trend and the second intervention shows low level, stable variability, with no trend. This is showing prediction for the baseline and the treatment phases, where if conditions of previous phases remained in effect measures could be forecasted. The visual analysis shows a functional relationship because the baseline and treatment phases are replicated at least twice, and the behavior changes each time (Miltenberger, 2016). The verification in the data show strength for the intervention condition. The change of behaviors coincides with the intervention, decreasing most when the treatment phase was implemented (Miltenberger, 2016). This is showing that the change in kilowatt usage is caused by the given daily reminders, not some extraneous variable. The data shows experimental control, that manipulating the independent variable causes the behavior changes. However, the second baseline is also at a lower level than the first baseline, but higher than the second intervention, which may show a sequence effect may be occurring.

In order to make this into a changing criterion design, I would start by setting a goal of lowering the kilowatts by 300. Starting with daily reminders, and setting incentives towards reaching that goal. Each time the house reaches 300 kilowatts less a reward is shared with the whole house. I would figure out what motivations would be preferred and ask them for what kind of reminders would help aide them in reaching their goals, such as sticky notes posted by the light switches or on the from door. I would expect a more steady descending level for every month.
