Wk 2 Discussion Response 2

According to (Fatehi, Gordon & Florida, N.D.) theoretical orientation represent styles of mind for understanding reality. This theoretical orientation can be organized as a continuum from theoretical constructs that are independent and concrete as with the Behavioral/ CBT theories, to theoretical constructs that are interdependent and abstract as with the Psychodynamic theories (Fatehi, Gordon & Florida, N.D.). Family systems and Humanistic/Existential are theoretical midpoints (Fatehi, Gordon & Florida, N.D.). Trait theory tends to focus on the premise that we are born with traits or characteristics that make us unique and explain our behaviors (Cervone& Pervin, 2019). For example, introversion, extroversion, shyness, agreeableness, kindness, etc. all these innate characteristics that we are born help to explain why we behave in a certain manner according to the situations we face, (Cervone& Pervin, 2019). Psychoanalytic perspective on the other hand focuses on childhood experiences and the unconscious mind which plays a role in our personality development, (Cervone& Pervin, 2019).

According to Freud, (Cervone& Pervin, 2019) our unconscious mind includes all our hidden desires and conflicts which form the root cause of our mental health issues or maladaptive behaviors. The main difference between these two perspectives is that trait theory helps to explain why we behave in a certain manner, whereas psychoanalytic theory only describes the personality and predicting behavior and not really explaining why we behave the way we do. There is no such evident similarity between the two perspectives, but kind of rely on underlying mechanisms to explain personality. Also, there is some degree of subjectivity present in both the perspectives. Trait theories involve subjectivity regarding interpretations of which can be considered as important traits that explain our behaviors, and psychoanalytic theory is subjective and vague in the concepts been used like the unconscious mind. My opinions accord with the visible contrasts between the two, one focused on internal features describing our behaviors in clearer words, whilst other concentrating on unconscious mind in anticipating behavior which is ambiguous and harder to grasp.

How Many Types of Bosch Hydraulic Hose Fittings are There?

There are various kinds of hydraulic hose fittings available in the market, and each one of them is very different from another fitting. The difference between them is simply because there is a lot of variation in their size and in their structure as well.

The basic kind of hose fittings include the threaded hose fitting, the metal angle hose fitting, and the O ring one. They are the most common kinds of bosch hydraulic hose fittings, these fittings are used all across the globe as well.

However, identifying the most suitable hydraulic hose fitting may not be as easy as it sounds. The hydraulic system uses various kinds of hose fittings and metric adapters, which is why it is very important to know the right type of hydraulic hose fittings based on your system.

The first step towards finding the correct kind of fitting is by figuring out whether the fitting is temporary or permanent. A temporary fitting is not difficult to identify however, permanent fitting is very popular, and is used a lot so, it is a little difficult to identify it as compared to temporary fitting.

After that, one has to figure out the fitting ends and what ports and connectors are in this particular fitting. At last, we have to figure out which kind of hydraulic hose fitting are we using. As discussed above, we have to figure out if we are using an O ring, metal angle, or threaded hose fitting.

Reasearching the Issue Instructions

The Rhetorical Situation

For this paper, you will research the controversy, surrounding your issue by describing its history and

summarizing at least two different positions on the issue or problem. Begin this paper with this in mind,

I should know where you stand why you want to even put in your time with this problem. Why do YOU

care?

Before people can think of a solution to a problem, they must know the history of the controversy and

the range of positions available.

Paragraph one/introduction:

1. I want to know some background information on your issue, so draft detailed and elaborate

answers to the following questions:

• State the issue

• What caused the issue?

• What prompted your interest in it?

• Who is interested in the issue and why besides yourself?

Paragraph two/body paragraph of one point of view:

2. Your audience will also want to know the current, major positions on the issue, so draft

descriptions and summaries of 2 different positions or points of view. This is where you will

need to research and use Google Scholar or our college library database. Description 1 of pt of

view 1 to include:

• summary

• What are the main claims of those who advocate this position?

• What reasons do they provide for those claims?

• What evidence do they use to support their reasons?

• An assumption is a point an author doesn’t even try to prove. Rather than proving the

assumption, the author simply assumes it is true. So, what assumptions underlie their

arguments for position 1 if there are any?

Paragraph 3/2nd body paragraph of second point of view: repeat above

Paragraph 4/Conclusion: Finally, you should highlight the relationship between the two positions

you’ve described by answering the following questions:

• On what points do advocates of these positions agree, on what points do they disagree?

• What are the reasons for disagreement?

• Restate why anyone should care about this problem/issue.

Scenario/Summary

Betty was an active 24 year-old with a good job at the local University. She helped students navigate the complexities of the FAFSA application process to access monies for their educations. Betty loved her job and attended all of the graduation ceremonies as a final send-off of the students to their dream lives.

In September, Betty started to feel tired and had a low-grade fever. She also experienced some nausea and stomach pain. Worried that she was developing a stomach virus, she stayed at home that weekend and tried to get as much rest as possible. She turned to soft foods to decrease the stomach distress. By Monday, she was feeling a little better and hoped she was on the mend.

However, later in the week, her joints started hurting and her leg muscles were sore. She couldn’t think of anything she had done differently that would account for the muscle soreness and joint pains. She chalked that up to sleeping wrong.

A few months later, the fatigue and weakness returned and she noticed that her hair was breaking easily and thinning, and that she was developing swelling in her legs and face. She also had dry skin and craved eggs and cottage cheese. Betty couldn’t get enough of these two foods. Fearing that something serious may be wrong, Betty scheduled an appointment with her physician.

Her physician ran a battery of tests to determine that Betty was suffering from a hepatitis C virus and was experiencing hypoproteinemia. In particular, her albumin levels were low.

Based on what you’ve learned about blood flow, the liver’s role in production of proteins, and pressure at the capillaries, address the following questions.

Deliverables

Answer the following questions and save your responses in a Microsoft Word document. Provide a scholarly resource to support your answers.

  1. Describe all the constituents contained in plasma and their concentrations.
  2. Explain the liver’s role in production of proteins.
  3. Why would albumin be important in regulating pressure at the capillaries?
  4. Explain the process of fluid movement at both the arterial and venous side of the capillary.
  5. What can Betty do to improve her situation?

Submit your case study document.

SOCW 6311 Week 3 Discussion: Choosing and Using Single-System Design

SOCW 6311 Week 3 Discussion: Choosing and Using Single-System Design

Many people receive their first introduction to the scientific method in their early school years. The first experiments which students undertake typically involve plants, chemicals, or small animals in a tightly controlled experimental environment. These experiments enable students to establish a relatively clear cause-and-effect relationship between the outcome of the experiment and the manipulation of the variables.

As soon as a researcher introduces a human element, proving a cause and effect relationship becomes more difficult—as the researcher cannot enact total control of another person even in an experimental environment. Social workers serve clients in highly complex real-world environments. Clients often implement recommended interventions outside of social workers’ direct observation. Yet, evidence-based research calls for social workers to establish cause-and-effect relations between selected interventions and client outcomes as much possible. To meet this challenge, social workers must understand the study designs available to them and all of the variations of that design that can increase the rigor of the experiment and improve the likelihood of verifying a cause-and-effect relationship.

In this week’s case study, you decide whether the social worker in the case study has appropriately chosen a single-system (subject) design and implemented it in such a way that it can be considered an appropriate example of evidence-based research.

To prepare for this Discussion, read the case study Social Work Research: Single Subject and criteria for using single-system (subject) designs as evidence of effective practices in this week’s resources. Consider whether the study design described in the case study will serve the purpose of evaluating the program’s practice approach (case management with solution-focused and task-centered approaches). Consider whether these approaches are well suited to evaluation by the types of measurement used in the study. Consider to what objective measurement the numerical scales used to measure problem-change and task completion corresponds. Consider what new knowledge and evidence for the efficacy of the treatment approaches Chris has generated with her study.

Provide a 300-word Discussion Post:

–  An evaluation of the proposed study design described in the case study below.

– Explain whether the outcome of Chris’ study with her client George would lead you to adopt the model of case management with solution-focused and task-centered approaches, and substantiate your choice.

– Provide recommendations for improvements should Chris and her colleagues wish to submit the study to the evidence-based practice registry. Include rationale for your recommendations.

Social Work Research: Single Subject

Chris is a social worker in a geriatric case management program located in a midsize Northeastern town. She has an MSW and is part of a team of case managers that likes to continuously improve on its practice. The team is currently using an approach that integrates elements of geriatric case management with short-term treatment methods, particularly the solution-focused and task-centered models. As part of their ongoing practice, the team regularly conducts practice evaluations. It has participated in larger scale research projects in the past.

The agency is fairly small (three full-time and two part-time social work case managers) and is one of several providers in a region of approximately 50,000 inhabitants. Strengths of the agency include a strong professional network and good reputation in the local community as well as the team of experienced social workers. Staff turnover has been almost nonexistent for the past 3 years. The agency serves about 60–70 clients at any given time. The clients assisted by the case management program are older adults, ranging from their early 60s to over 100 years of age, as well as their caregivers.

To evaluate its practice approach, the team has decided to use a multiple-baseline, single-subject design. Each of the full-time case managers will select one client new to the caseload to participate in the study. The research project is explained to clients by the respective case manager and informed consent to participate is requested.

George was identified by Chris as a potential candidate for the evaluation. As a former science teacher who loved to do research himself, he agreed to participate in the project. George is 87 years old, and although he is not as physically robust as he once was, at 5 feet 9 inches tall, he has a strong presence. He has consistent back pain and occasional flare-ups of rheumatoid arthritis. His wife of 45 years passed away two summers ago after a long fight with cancer. After his initial grief, he has managed fairly well to adapt to life on his own. George entered the program after being hospitalized for fainting while at the grocery store. A battery of medical tests was conducted, but no specific cause of his fainting attack could be found. However, the physicians assessed signs of slight cognitive impairments/dementia and suggested a geriatric case management program.

An initial assessment by the case manager showed the need for assistance in the following areas: 1) personal care, 2) decrease in mobility, and 3) longer-term planning around living arrangement and home safety. The case manager also thought that George could benefit from setting up advance directives, which he did not want to discuss at that time. They agreed that the case manager could bring this topic up again in the future.

As part of the practice process, the case manager used clinical rating scales that were adapted from the task-centered model. At the beginning of each client contact, case manager and client collaboratively evaluated how well the practice steps (tasks) undertaken by client and/or case manager were completed using a 10-point clinical scale. Concurrently, they evaluated changes to the respective client problems, also using a 10-point clinical scale. George was able to actively participate in the planning and implementation of most care-related decisions. During the course of their collaborative work, most needs were at least partially addressed. Two tasks were completed regarding personal care, two regarding mobility, and three addressing home safety issues. Only personal mobility was still a minor problem and required some additional work.

After finishing the reassessment at 3 months, Chris completed gathering and evaluating the data for the single-subject design (SSD). As promised, she also provided George with the finished SSD findings. The following is an overview of the data that was collected for this case:

Module 02 Course Project – Compliance Roles and Responsibilities

Module 02 Content

  1. Now that you’ve chosen two compliance plans, you can better understand the role of Compliance Officer and similar positions. You are developing two compliance plans in a way that all employees will understand at a large medical facility where you are the Compliance Officer.

To help you understand the concept of compliance, use the Internet to locate 2-3 positions for Compliance Officer, Quality Improvement Manager, or related positions. Use this information to create a consolidated job description. Be sure to include requirements such as Education, Professional Experience, and Responsibilities of the position.

Then, write a 2-3 page summary of an Overview of Compliance Plans. In your overview, state the purpose of your two compliance plans for your company and how they relate to the proposed job description. In terms that every employee will grasp, explain how all employees would benefit by supporting the key elements in every compliance plan – compliance standards, high-level responsibility (for each employee), education (about compliance), communication, monitoring/auditing, enforcement/discipline, and response/prevention.

Support your job description and overview with at least three research sources outside of your required reading. You should have a total of at least five sources, including the two from Module 01. Citations in APA format should be listed in a References Page at the end.

Peer Responds !!

Dr. Bartelt and Class,

Provide a brief statement introducing the selected practice problem.

For this discussion, I chose chapter 10 on chronic disease.  Chronic disease, although treatable, is likely not curable and persist over time and may have an impact to the patient’s quality of life.  Chronic diseases include stroke, heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, cancer, and respiratory illness.  Treatments are costly and many people have more than one chronic disease (Allen, 2018).

Identify the social determinant risk factors for the selected practice problem.

There are many risk factors that can increase the likelihood of acquiring a chronic disease.  Risk factors for acquiring heart disease, among other chronic diseases, include high alcohol consumption, limited physical mobility, poor diet, smoking, and drug abuse all of which are preventable behaviors or when present can be eliminated or decreased through treatment and counseling practices.  In addition, there are social determinates that impact health and chronic disease.  These include socioeconomic level, race, gender, educational level, and geographic location (Allen, 2018).  Social determinants have a direct impact on health, quality of life, and functioning outcomes (ODPHP, 2021). In addition to the social determinants listed previously, one must also consider the impact of financial health on health.  Financial health can impact an individuals ability to pay for treatment practices, afford healthy nutritional diet, and may impact the persons ability to seek routine checkups and preventative screenings (Weida et al., 2020).

Describe a related Healthy People 2020 Goal.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) implemented Healthy People 2020 which has four overarching goals that was launched in December 2010.  Of those four overarching goals, one of the goals related directly to chronic disease is “attain high-quality, longer lives free of preventable disease, disability, injury, and premature death” (CDC, 2020).

Describe one evidence-based intervention to address the Healthy People 2020 goal.

Rehabilitation programs driven by therapists and counselors are aimed at individualized patient-centered interventions to meet patient needs (Simonelli et al, 2020).  An evidence-based intervention that can be implemented to address the goal mentioned above is increasing access to parks and safe sidewalks which increases physical activity in adults and adolescents.  In addition, education can promote healthy behaviors through improving nutritional diets, identification of healthy choices such as increased activity and smoking cessation programs.  This can be accomplished through regular checkups and getting all recommended screenings and immunizations (ODPHP, 2021).

Define one measurable objective to address the Healthy People 2020 goal.

A measurable objective to address chronic heart disease, as one of the chronic diseases, is to improve cardiovascular health through activity and dietary modifications which can be implemented through clinical counseling that addresses a healthful diet and physical activity parameters (U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, 2017).  This objective can be measured through gaining a baseline analysis of dietary and physical activity habits of the demographic population.  Post-intervention analysis data can then be compared to pre-intervention data to identify the percent of improvement of healthy lifestyle interventions and health promotion.  A method to track physical activity is through activity trackers such as watches or pendants that track movement, some of which also track heart rate and oxygen saturation (Anderson et al., 2020).

Best,

Pam
