1-2 page paper

Brook wanted to rob the First National Bank located in Newport Beach, Orange County, California. When Hurst found out about Brook’s plan, Hurst asked to join in too as long as no weapons were going to be used. Brook assured Hurst that no weapons would be used. During the robbery, Brook pulled out a gun and pointed it at a teller who was not cooperating in handing over the cash in the teller’s drawer. Hurst did not see Brook pull the gun on the teller. After they had left the bank and were driving away, Brook remarked to Hurst that bringing the gun was a great idea as it made the difference with the teller handing over the cash. Hurst said to Brook, “You said no guns, let me out of the car now.” Brook told Hurst that they were not going to stop anywhere until they were safely in Arizona. Brook and Hurst proceeded non-stop to Nogales, Arizona.

Upon arrival in Nogales, Arizona, Brook and Hurst divided the money from the bank and went their separate ways. Hurst left and met a friend, Solana, but told Solana nothing about the bank robbery. The next day, Brook went across the border into Mexico. Based on a tip, the officers from the Nogales Police Department arrested Hurst and Solana booking both on suspicion of bank robbery. During the interrogation, Hurst told the Nogales police that Brook had fled to Mexico. Solana advised the Nogales police that he had nothing to do with the crime, but the Nogales police have refused to release Solana. The Nogales police advised Mexican authorities who promptly located Brook and arrested him.

Discussion

Discuss the contraceptive methods using the latest evidence-based guidelines that Karen would be medically eligible for.

Evidence-based guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) (2019) indicate that women with pre-existing medical conditions should avoid the use of hormonal contraceptives. Nevertheless, there are various contraceptive methods, apart from condoms, which Karen is medically eligible for. The first option is using a non-hormonal intrauterine device (IUD), also known as the coil. Secondly is using a diaphragm; this is a cup-like device inserted into the vaginal canal to prevent sperm from passing through the cervix to the womb. A third option is the calendar method, whereby the patient calculates their safe days and avoids sex during ovulation (ACOG, 2019).

Identify one method that you feel would be most beneficial to Karen and discuss why you selected it.

Out of all the contraception methods discussed herein, the most beneficial for Karen is the IUD. Firstly, the American Cancer Society (2020) asserts that IUD reduces the risk of cervical cancer; this is important for Karen because she has a family history of the condition. Secondly, the IUD is non-hormonal; this is beneficial for Karen, with DVT and cardiac disease history. Thirdly, according to the case “Karen does not desire pregnancy soon,”; IUDs are effective for as long as 5-10 years.

Are there any methods that you would not recommend for Karen? Why?

There are contraception methods that are not recommended for Karen. These include combined-injectables like depo provera, hormonal implants, and combined patch/vaginal rings containing hormones like estrogen (ACOG, 2019). This is because the use of such contraceptives in women with a history of DVT and cardiac illness may increase their risk of thrombus formation or venous thrombus.

Creating a Classroom Management Plan

Classroom management plans are created by teachers to assist in the planning and implementation of a positive classroom environment that is efficient, proactively addresses issues that may arise, and provides systematic support for the teacher and students to remain engaged, on task, and productive. Consideration of the unique needs of students should guide the development of a classroom management plan. By understanding student needs, the teacher is better able to identify the types of accommodations and modifications to routinely include in the plan.

Use the “Creating a Classroom Management Plan Template” to complete this assignment.

Using the grade level for which you would like to teach, create a 750-1,000 word classroom management plan for students in your special education resource classroom described in the “Class Profile.”

Include the following in your classroom management plan:

  • Classroom Management Plan Statement of Purpose.
  • Rules: Description of 3-5 rules, positive reinforcements aligned to each rule, and consequences for not following each rule.
  • Procedures/Routines: Provide 3-5 classroom procedures and routines.
  • Classroom environmental considerations.
  • Implementation Plan: Include information about how you plan to introduce your plan and teach students and paraeducators the rules and procedures.
  • Documentation Plan: Include information about how you will document student behavior and the effectiveness of the classroom management plan.
  • Confidentiality and Ethical/Legal Considerations Plan: Describe your plan to handle confidential documents, protect student rights, and protect the confidential information of individuals with disabilities in your classroom.
  • Crisis Management Plan: Describe steps to de-escalate behavior and how you will handle the safety of students and staff.
  • Substitute Teacher Plans: Describe information you would leave for a substitute teacher coming into your classroom.

In addition, rationalize your classroom management plan decisions in 250-500 words, explaining how the plan will meet the needs of the students identified in the “Class Profile.” Support your choices with references to the CEC Ethical Principles and Professional Practice Standards.

Support your findings with a minimum of two scholarly resources.

Pelvic inflammatory disease Response

With the diagnosis of pelvic inflammatory disease, it is essential to begin treatment promptly and effectively early in order to prevent any complications or damage to the female reproductive organs.  According to Huether et al. (2020), the pelvic inflammatory disease diagnosis should be considered by clinicians in all patients who are sexually active and are exhibiting symptoms including pelvic tenderness and one of the following: cervical motion tenderness, uterine tenderness, or adnexal tenderness.  Brun et al. (2016) discussed diagnostic tools and criteria for the diagnosis of pelvic inflammatory disease.  It was reported that a complete blood count and a C-reactive assay should be completed but does not rule out uncomplicated pelvic inflammatory disease.  The authors also discuss the use of pelvic ultrasonography for diagnosis of pelvic inflammatory disease as well as the potential for any tubo-ovarian abscess.  If imaging is not sufficient for diagnosis, further testing could include a CT scan or an MRI as well as the use of an endometrial biopsy.  In addition, Brun et al. (2016) state that for diagnosis of microorganisms, a vaginal sample should be obtained firstly and then an endocervical sample should be obtained.

Treatment should be started immediately even before diagnostic testing is completed in order to prevent damage to reproductive organs.  Huether et al. (2020) report that preliminary treatment needs to be effective against a broad range of microorganisms due to diagnostic test results not being available immediately.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2015), the majority of patients who have pelvic inflammatory disease can be treated on an outpatient level of care with the exception of those with advanced disease or are at high-risk.  High-risk patients include advanced disease, co-morbidities, pregnancy, or the patient cannot take oral medications.  The therapeutic regimen prescribed should be effective against Gonorrhea and Chlamydia because these organisms have been seen as infecting the upper reproductive tract even when the endocervical swab returns with negative results.  In addition, it would be beneficial to have a therapeutic regimen effective against anaerobic microorganisms (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015).

Current CDC guidelines for the treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease depends on the severity of the disease.  For oral and intramuscular regiments, the usual recommended treatment consists of a combination of medications that may include ceftriaxone, doxycycline, metronidazole, cefoxitin, probenecid, or a cephalosphorin.  If a patient’s symptoms have not improved within seventy two hours, further diagnostic testing should be completed to rule out a different diagnosis or the need for intravenous pharmacologic treatment.  If there is advanced disease or if there is a high risk for complications, the clinician should determine if an inpatient level of care is needed to administer intravenous pharmacological treatment.  In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2015) also recommends that the female patient abstain from sexual intercourse and activities until infection has subsided.  The patient should also make her sexual partners aware, so they may also seek treatment for any potential infections, before sexual activity occurs again (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015).

Safrai et al. (2020) recently completed a study to determine the risk factors associated with recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease.  Their research participants included a total of one hundred and thirty three women who have had pelvic inflammatory disease.  Within this sample, thirty three of the participants had recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease.  Safrai et al. (2020) determined that risk factors for recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease included the previous history of pelvic surgeries, the insertion of an intrauterine device, and the pharmacologic treatment of a combination of gentamicin and clindamycin.  Those who were treated with Augmentin had a decreased recurrence of pelvic inflammatory disease.  In addition, Safrai et al. (2020) concluded that those who had recurrent disease, would often require increasingly more invasive treatment due to worsening of reproductive tract.

One-on-One Interaction Plan

Design an assessment, play, or interaction activity that allows you to interact with a child age eight or younger in a one-on-one situation. Create a plan that allows you to demonstrate and see one of the theories from last week’s readings in action (for example, Piaget, Gardner, Vygotsky, Skinner). Your interaction should help promote the child’s role in directing his or her learning.

In Unit 2, you were tasked with designing your one-on-one interaction activity and sharing it with peers. This week, you will interact with the child and then write your results and reflection for submission at the end of the unit. Include in your reflection your analysis of the communication techniques you used during the interaction, such as verbal, nonverbal, and listening techniques, and how these interactions led to improved learning for the child.

Write a 2–4-page paper in which you present three sections:

  1. Describe the interaction and intended goals, linking them back to the theory you intended the interaction to demonstrate.
  2. Describe the implementation of the interaction and the child’s reaction to it.
  3. Analyze the interaction and describe what worked well to improve the child’s self-directed learning, what did not work well, and what you would adapt if doing it again. Remember to always tie this back to your theory.

To protect confidentiality, please do not mention real names of those with whom you conduct the activity.

CASE STUDY

Carmen has spent the last three years working on creating an environmentally friendly washing-up liquid and cooking utensils to help reduce people’s negative impact on the environmental. The cooking utensils are made from sustainably sourced pinewood. She plans to call her brand CleanStart*. Carmen has also written a number of children’s books introducing the importance of “Starting Clean” from a young age.

Given consumer interest in using green products, Carmen’s inventions have been very successful. So much so that they are sold in major stores and have become the brand for sustainable cleaning products. Moreover, as the products gained more recognition so did the demand for Carmen’s Eco education children’s books, expanding to CleanStart* activity books / online games and stationary.
