CIS/291: Pc And Device Fundamentals: Discussion – RAID Selection

You work as an IT support technician for a boss who believes you are really bright and can solve just about any problem he throws at you. Folks in the company have complained one time too many that the file server downtime is just killing them, so he asks you to solve this problem. He wants you to figure out what hardware is needed to implement hardware RAID for fault tolerance.

You check the file server’s configuration and discover that it has a single hard drive using a SATA connection with Windows Server 2016 installed. There are four empty bays in the computer case and four extra SATA power cords. You also discover an empty PCIe ×4 slot on the motherboard. BIOS/UEFI setup does not offer the option to configure RAID, but you think the slot might accommodate a RAID controller.

Research RAID and discuss the following in a minimum of 185 words:

  • What hardware do you need to purchase? Share with the class the web pages showing the products and their costs.
  • What levels of RAID does the RAID controller card support? Which RAID level is best to use? Cite any important information in the RAID controller documentation that supports your decisions.
  • What is the total hardware cost of implementing RAID? Estimate how much time you think it will take for you to install the devices and test the setup.
  • Why did you choose this RAID controller? Share your reasoning with the class.

IT Infrastructure

PART 1: Executive Summary of IT Infrastructure Assessing the current state of the business before starting the full project is a necessity when it comes to working with infrastructure. International Plastics, Inc., a  manufacturing company, hired you as a technology consultant to work with the company to review its resources and develop a plan for its infrastructure needs. Your first step is to become familiar with the company’s current documentation and provide a status update to the executives. Review the ZIP file for International Plastics, Inc. documentation. Write a 1 to 2-page executive summary of International Plastics’ business requirements for an upcoming discussion with the CEO. As a general guideline,  executive summaries are typically1 to 2 pages in length, at 12 pt. font, and single-spaced. Include the following information: • A high-level description of International Plastics’ current IT Infrastructure, including network, information systems, applications, mobile computing, data  management, business intelligence, and security • An overview of International Plastics’ operational environment • An explanation of how a new IT infrastructure will improve business performance • A chart listing at least three examples of technology hardware upgrades and how they will improve business performance PART 2: Identifying Current IT Standards and Protocols and Making Recommendations The International Plastics, Inc. CEO read your executive summary and would like more information. The CEO would like a detailed explanation of the IT standards,  protocols, and communication tools currently in use in the facilities to determine if improvements are needed. Review the existing International Plastics network diagrams located in the International Plastics, Inc. documents ZIP file. Assess the current telecommunications  protocols, standards, and collaboration tools used for International Plastics. Determine if improvements are needed, and if so, list your recommendation with how  the improvement will affect the standard or protocol (you will use this to prepare the required chart).Copyright 2021 by University of Phoenix. All rights reserved. Prepare a chart/table, using Microsoft® Word or Microsoft® Excel®, to document at least 6 current standards or protocols used at each location. Use the  following table headings: • Current Telecommunications Standard, Protocol, or Collaboration Tools • International Plastics Location • Recommendation for Improvement with anticipated effects of Improvement Decide on a recommendation that will have the most beneficial impact to the company. • Write a 1-page explanation on how you made the decision to move forward with this recommendation. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this  recommendation? Submit your PART 1: Executive Summary of IT Infrastructure and your PART 2: Identifying Current IT Standards and Protocols and Making Recommendations.

TOPIC 7 DQ 1

Describe one internal and one external method for the dissemination of your evidence-based change proposal. For example, an internal method may be the hospital board, and an external method may be a professional nursing organization. Discuss why it is important to report your change proposal to both of these groups. How will your communication strategies change for each group?

The planning process for practice transformation includes determining which outcomes to assess and how to measure them. Conducting a premortem on your project is a unique method to discover results and plan for effective implementation (Ginex, 2018). We’ve all heard of postmortems—inquiries into what occurred after a sentinel incident or a bad patient outcome—but it’s equally vital to ask questions before embarking on a practice shift. A premortem can aid in the identification of results, roadblocks, and hazards to practical implementation. This is an activity in which members of a project team pretend that a planned strategy has failed after being briefed on it. Everyone is prompted to examine the strategy and anticipate potential risks and roadblocks as part of the process. A premortem’s framework makes it safe to uncover issues.

The hospital board is the internal approach I would utilize to communicate evidence-based practice. Employees of the health organization, such as nurses, physicians, and other professionals involved in patient care, make up the hospital board. The most proper technique to employ when disseminating the EBP to the hospital board would be face to face. The method encourages engagement and immediate response, particularly during questioning sessions. Face-to-face consultation and conversation with other nursing experts is the technique I would utilize in the conference. In both internal and external forums, communication techniques would differ. Presentation at professional organization conferences, notably the American Nurses Association, is an external technique that I would use. The professional association would be an excellent vehicle for disseminating the initiative to a large number of nurses. The hospital board, for example, is made up of peers, which means that dialogue will be less formal and more participatory than at an American Nurses Association conference.

I must provide my evidence-based findings to the two groups to encourage knowledge and information exchange throughout the nursing community. This would improve the ability of group members participating in nursing practice to make decisions and improve patient outcomes. Furthermore, presenting the findings to the groups would allow for a constructive critique of the results, allowing for improvements prior to implementation.

Humbles (2019) explains that the dissemination of evidence-based practice (EBP) projects is a teaching strategy for nursing education. One internal method to disseminate my evidence-based change proposal to decrease the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia in patients admitted to assisted living facilities and home settings would be to speak with the Providers Relation team and see what their thoughts are on the research with their approval/backing. I would go to the training department. With both of those departments backing the research, it would make it easier for Management to be able to present to the administration. Administration would just have to find funding for the proposal as the departments would have already agreed. An external method would be submitting my research to the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (NADONA/LTC). My communication approaches would be different with both groups. With management, since I know them, I would communicate via email and zoom meetings. I would provide them with a copy of my EBP proposal and request their feedback. As explained by Sefton (2019), EBP is a widely used problem-solving approach in the community health clinical setting as it is crucial to delivering interprofessional, collaborative, driven, and person centered care. As far as the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (NADONA/LTC), I would call to request to speak to the person in charge of clinical to discuss briefly my proposal to decrease the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia in patients under their care and request for an email address to send a copy to review and provide me with their feedback.

Psychological Complications Resulting From Illnesses and Injuries

The nurse’s role goes far beyond that which is expected. Nurses are the main communicators between patients, doctors, and family, and they care for more than just physical ailments. Often, nurses are presented with difficult situations where being an advocate becomes paramount to the healing of the patient. One of the issues that patients with acute and chronic illnesses or extended hospitalization face is a tendency to become depressed. The nurse’s role in this situation requires more than just attention to the physical problem. Another situation where a nurse may need to shift his or her care is when a patient presents with a suspicious injury or illness. In addition to considering the legal and ethical responsibilities of the nurse, he or she must consider the psychological undertones that may be present.

For this Discussion, you will consider delicate situations that nurses often face and analyze the implications of these situations. Reflect on a patient care situation in which you have encountered one of the following:

  • A suspicious illness or injury
  • Depression resulting from illness or injury

Then, locate at least one scholarly journal article related to your patient care situation that offers strategies for managing the circumstances

Respond to the following:

  • Explain your patient encounter, highlighting the challenges the situation presented, and briefly summarize the contents of your journal article.
  • What strategies did you employ to help handle the situation? What other strategies could you have used?
  • How did you advocate for the patient in the situation?
  • What are some of the legal and ethical implications that need to be considered when providing care for patients with depression resulting from illnesses or injuries or suspicious illnesses or injuries?

Support your response with references from the professional nursing literature.

Note Initial Post: A 3-paragraph (at least 350 words) response. Be sure to use evidence from the readings and include in-text citations. Utilize essay-level writing practice and skills, including the use of transitional material and organizational frames. Avoid quotes; paraphrase to incorporate evidence into your own writing. A reference list is required. Use the most current evidence (usually ≤ 5 years old).

Urinary and Kidney Physiology

Introduction:: The purpose of the urinary system is to eliminate cellular waste from the body, regulate blood volume and blood pressure, maintain our body water balance, control levels of electrolytes and metabolites, and regulate blood pH. Since all the fluids of the body are interrelated (blood, lymph, interstitial fluid, etc.), it is essential for our urinary system to regulate the overall fluid levels in our bodies.

For this post, you will:

  1. Choose a component or process of the urinary system that helps to regulate the amount of water that is excreted in the urine. Some examples are:
    • renal vessels and nerves
    • intrarenal blood pressures
    • glomerular pressure
    • glomerular filtration
    • reabsorption in the proximal tubule
    • reabsorption in the loop of Henle
    • reabsorption in the (late) distal convoluted tubule
    • vasa recta (rather than peritubular capillaries
    • cortical vs. juxtamedullary nephron
    • collecting duct
    • aquaporins
    • juxtaglomerular complex
    • role of hormones (e.g., ADH, Aldosterone, renin/angiotensin II
  2. Describe how your choice can be used in either retention or loss of water in urine. Choose only retention or loss, not both.
  3. Use a reputable media article or scientific journal paper to describe a water imbalance (too much or too little water retention) that affects health.
  4. Describe the treatment and management of your selected water imbalance.

SOCW 6311 wk 11 Discussion 2: Contemplating Your Future

The NASW Code of Ethics makes a number of statements about social workers’ responsibility to study, use, and engage in research and evaluation. In the past, many social workers had difficulty thinking of themselves as knowledgeable and capable in research, despite completing the required research course in school. Think of yourself as a part of a new breed of social workers. You are completing your education at a point in time that places great emphasis on both research and evaluation. You also have greater access to published research than ever before. Research knowledge and skills are like muscles—if you do not use them, they will atrophy. You have an ethical obligation as a social worker to exercise and flex your research muscle. Consider how the NASW Code of Ethics guides your professional research.

Questions in bold then answers 300 to 500 words cite everything and full references

Post an analysis of how you can apply new knowledge and skills related to research and evaluation, acquired in this course to your future career.

Identify specific knowledge and strategies and how you intend to apply them.

Identify those skills that you believe will be most applicable to achieving your future goals.
