For this activity, explore NASA and Soviet space agency during 1945-198 and today’s privatized rocket programs and efforts (i.e., International Space Station. Use information from a credible source and use your new knowledge to compare and contrast the United States NASA and Soviet government owned space programs of 1945-1958 to the current privatization of rocket programs and cooperative efforts.

Read-it-Up

Using one of the news websites from the provided list, search for a current news story/event that demonstrates a chosen area of aviation over time for this assignment. Your current news selection must be within the last 180 days. Examine the news story or event, reflect, and consider all aspects and viewpoints the author provides.

Sum-it-Up / Relate-it-Up

In your initial post (must be 150 words), show a clear connection between the news story/event and the course materials. If there is no connection to course materials, you will lose 40 points. State the title of the news story and include the link so that others can access the story. You may apply any lens you wish to use when constructing this assignment: historic, scientific, technological, engineering, or math. Summarize the story and explain the cause and effect relationships for your chosen area (lens) of aviation for this assignment.

change in practice supported by an EBP approach

n this Assignment, you will identify an issue or opportunity for change within your healthcare organization and propose an idea for a change in practice supported by an EBP approach.

To Prepare:

• Reflect on the four peer-reviewed articles you critically appraised in Module 4, related to your clinical topic of interest and PICOT.

• Reflect on your current healthcare organization and think about potential opportunities for evidence-based change, using your topic of interest and PICOT as the basis for your reflection.

• Consider the best method of disseminating the results of your presentation to an audience.

The Assignment: (Evidence-Based Project)

Part 4: Recommending an Evidence-Based Practice Change

Create an 8- to 9-slide narrated PowerPoint presentation in which you do the following:

• Briefly describe your healthcare organization, including its culture and readiness for change. (You may opt to keep various elements of this anonymous, such as your company name.)

• Describe the current problem or opportunity for change. Include in this description the circumstances surrounding the need for change, the scope of the issue, the stakeholders involved, and the risks associated with change implementation in general.

• Propose an evidence-based idea for a change in practice using an EBP approach to decision making. Note that you may find further research needs to be conducted if sufficient evidence is not discovered.

• Describe your plan for knowledge transfer of this change, including knowledge creation, dissemination, and organizational adoption and implementation.

• Explain how you would disseminate the results of your project to an audience. Provide a rationale for why you selected this dissemination strategy.

• Describe the measurable outcomes you hope to achieve with the implementation of this evidence-based change.

• Be sure to provide APA citations of the supporting evidence-based peer reviewed articles you selected to support your thinking.

• Add a lessons learned section that includes the following:

• A summary of the critical appraisal of the peer-reviewed articles you previously submitted

• An explanation about what you learned from completing the Evaluation Table within the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template (1-3 slides)

My PICO question
This mnemonic was used to generate my PICOT question. In geriatric hospitalized patients(P), can handwashing with soap and water (I), as opposed to hand sanitizers (C),  aid to reduce Hospital Acquired Infection (HAI) occurrences(O) during 3 months? (T)
Attached is my assignment for Module 4 with my references. I work in a medsurg unit so look up that healthcare organization, including its culture and readiness for change.

strategic planning

It is now time to begin the strategic planning phase of your project. You have been hired as a consultant to help MovieFlix solve a business problem. You’ve previously described to MovieFlix’s leadership the first step to helping them solve their problem. Now it’s time to provide them with a full plan and timeline.

For your project this week, you will need to do the following:

  • Create a chart/table where you detail a SWOT analysis for MovieFlix. For your SWOT analysis, you need to list 3 internal strengths, 3 internal weaknesses, 3 external opportunities, and 3 external threats for MovieFlix.
  • In 1-2 paragraphs, discuss the information that you put into your SWOT analysis. Why did you list the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that you did? Why are they strengths, weaknesses, etc.
  • Now detail the rest of the steps that you will guide MovieFlix through to reach a positive resolution to their problem. Make sure that you provide their leadership team with a timeframe for when you anticipate the project to be completed by.
  • Remember to use proper tone in your paper. You are speaking from a “consultant” point of view. Your audience is the Leadership Team at MovieFlix.
  • Make sure to include an APA formatted title page and reference page for sources that you may have used for your research. Remember to follow APA guidelines when paraphrasing or quoting information. Don’t forget to cite your sources and include in-text citations as necessary.

Organizational Form Homework Assignment

Choosing an Organizational Form – Paper

Sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations are the three most common categories of business entities in the United States. Many health care providers organize as corporations, but many private medical practices operate as sole proprietorships or partnerships. Each organizational structure has benefits, drawbacks, structures, setup processes, and taxation implications that health care entities must consider when deciding how to structure their business.

For each scenario, consider how you would proceed as a manager of this company. Be sure to include the following details to justify your thinking:

  • Do you agree with the organizational form chosen in each of these scenarios? Why or why not?
  • Which type of organizational form would you have chosen, and why?
  • If you were consulted for advice in each scenario, what questions would you ask to help these individuals make the best decision?

Here are the three scenarios for your consideration:

  1. Sonya is considering starting a practice in which she will be the sole orthodontist. She owns a home, and her top priority is making sure that she cannot lose her home because of a lawsuit. Her brother told her not to incorporate because it would be very expensive and would lead to more regulatory scrutiny. She chooses to operate as a sole proprietorship.
  2. Bradley and Li Jing have been friends since the beginning of college. Bradley has a master’s degree in Nutrition Science, and Li Jing has a master’s degree in Exercise Therapy. They decide they should combine their skills and open their own wellness center. Upon graduation, they use a verbal agreement to enter into a limited partnership. Bradley’s girlfriend expresses that she opposes this idea because she wants to move back to her home state. Bradley tells her not to worry because it will be easy for him to sell his share of the organization if they chose to move in the future.
  3. May, Paulo, Jordan, and David have been operating their mental health center as a general partnership for almost eight years. Paulo, a psychiatrist, has discovered a revolutionary new kind of therapy that he believes will be extremely popular and effective. He wants to take on investors to help fund the expansion of the center and implement the new therapy program. The four discuss forming a corporation, but Jordan is concerned that it will increase their tax liabilities substantially. She convinces the group they should remain as a partnership.

Your paper should be two to three pages in length (not including the required title and reference pages) and conform to the APA standards. Include at least two scholarly references.

Personal Philosophy of Culturally Competent Nursing

Personal Philosophy of Culturally Competent Nursing

Apply a model of cultural competence to personal practice beliefs. For this assignment:

  1. Reflect on the 5 constructs of Campinha-Bacote’s model of The Process of Cultural Competence in the Delivery of Healthcare Services: Cultural desire, Cultural Awareness, Cultural Knowledge, Cultural Skill, and Cultural Encounters. (See Chapter 2)
  2. Review the Mission statements and values of St. Thomas University and its Nursing programs.
  3. Reflect on your learning during this course.
  4. Evidence of reflection on Campinha-Bacote’s cultural competency model and/or STU mission and values.
  5. Your personal beliefs.
  6. Your philosophy statement(s) related to culturally competent nursing care.
  7. Implementing your beliefs.
  8. Continuing your journey towards cultural competence.

Submission Instructions:

  • Your paper should be formatted per current APA  7edition and references should be current (published within last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions)
  • The paper is to be clear and concise and students will lose points for improper grammar, punctuation and misspelling.
  • The paper is to be no shorter than 1 pages; nor longer than 2 pages in length, excluding the title, abstract and references page.
  • Incorporate a minimum of 2 current (published within last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work. Journal articles and books should be referenced according to current APA style (the library has a copy of the APA Manual).

Nursing, Self-Management

  • In this assignment, you will present a culturally sensitive self-management plan for a patient with a chronic disease.

Step 1 Choose a chronic disease that you frequently encounter in your nursing practice. Alternatively, pick a chronic disease that you would like to explore further.

Step 2 Select a culture that you often encounter in your practice or one that you would like to learn more about. For the purposes of this presentation, you may choose a culture based on religion; racial or ethnic group; cognitive, sensory, or physical disability; or sexual orientation or gender identity. Create a (minimum) 6 slide power-point presentation (PPP), not including the title page or reference page.

Imagine you were chosen to present this information in a seminar of your peers. You will present current, evidence-based research to your audience! Get their attention with color and pictures. Each slide must follow the 7×7 rule. No more than 7 lines and 7 words per line. You will lose your audience if you just throw up a white slide with lengthy paragraphs. Have fun with this project!

Under the PPP slide, if you pull it up, you will see a text box. Here is where you write “speaker notes” to yourself and to your instructor so I know what you will say to your audience. Type it as you would imagine saying it to your audience. “Hi, my name is XXX and I am so glad you all joined me today for this seminar!” Your speaker notes should be in paragraph format, not your slide. The audience should not do more reading than you do talking so keep that in mind. If they are still reading and you are done talking, you will need more in the speaker notes to keep from uncomfortable silence.

Step 3  Format is a large chunk of this assignment. You will need to closely follow the PPP template in 7th. edition APA for formatting provided below. You will have a title slide, an intro slide, a body of slides, a conclusion slide and a reference slide. Altogether you should have a minimum of 6 slides not counting the title or ref. slide. Your slides should have in-text citations as shown in the template as well as research scattered in your speaker notes. This is not professional opinion, but rather an evidence-based self-management plan you have developed to improve the quality of care or outcomes of your chronic patient.

Address the following topics in your slides:

  • Intro slide: Introduce your topic and your culture and greet your audience. This slide should make a strong first impression. It may be in paragraph form and does not need to follow the 7×7 rule.
  • Body slide: Use research to describe the chronic condition
  • Body slide: Describe the culture associated with the chronic condition and how they are connected.
  • Body slides: Identify 3-4 self-care needs for the patient with the chronic illness you chose. For example:
    • An Hispanic patient with diabetes will need to monitor blood glucose levels daily.
  • Body slides: Identify at least one measurable, patient-centered goal for each self-care need. For example:
    • The patient will record blood sugar every day for 10 days.
  • Body slides: Present possible culturally barriers the healthcare professional should anticipate. For example:
    • The Hispanic patient does not speak or write English and does not have anyone in the home who does.
  • Body slides: Describe how you will evaluate whether the goals are in progress or were met.
    • Return demonstration for obtaining a capillary blood glucose level and recording number on worksheet.
  • Conclusion slide: Provide a summary of your presentation without introducing any more research and leave your audience in awe of your awesomeness and professionalism. Thank them for coming to your seminar! This slide may be in paragraph form and does not need to follow the 7×7 rule.
  • Provide a reference slide citing any sources used in the presentation in the format requested by your instructor. All slides with research must use in-text citations and also needs citations scattered in the speaker notes below the slide. References and in-text citations must follow the 7th edition APA format as shown in the sample PPP and in the APA book required for this course.

Assignment: Lab Assignment: Assessing the Genitalia and Rectum

Patients are frequently uncomfortable discussing with healthcare professional’s issues that involve the genitalia and rectum; however, gathering an adequate history and properly conducting a physical exam are vital. Examining case studies of genital and rectal abnormalities can help prepare advanced practice nurses to accurately assess patients with problems in these areas.

In this Lab Assignment, you will analyze an Episodic note case study that describes abnormal findings in patients seen in a clinical setting. You will consider what history should be collected from the patients, as well as which physical exams and diagnostic tests should be conducted. You will also formulate a differential diagnosis with several possible conditions.

To Prepare
  • Review the Episodic note case study your instructor provides you for this week’s Assignment. Please see the “Course Announcements” section of the classroom for your Episodic note case study.
  • Based on the Episodic note case study:
    • Review this week’s Learning Resources, and consider the insights they provide about the case study. Refer to Chapter 3 of the Sullivan resource to guide you as you complete your Lab Assignment.
    • Search the Walden library or the Internet for evidence-based resources to support your answers to the questions provided.
    • Consider what history would be necessary to collect from the patient in the case study.
    • Consider what physical exams and diagnostic tests would be appropriate to gather more information about the patient’s condition. How would the results be used to make a diagnosis?
    • Identify at least five possible conditions that may be considered in a differential diagnosis for the patient.
The Lab Assignment

Using evidence-based resources from your search, answer the following questions and support your answers using current evidence from the literature.

  • Analyze the subjective portion of the note. List additional information that should be included in the documentation.
  • Analyze the objective portion of the note. List additional information that should be included in the documentation.
  • Is the assessment supported by the subjective and objective information? Why or why not?
  • Would diagnostics be appropriate for this case, and how would the results be used to make a diagnosis?
  • Would you reject/accept the current diagnosis? Why or why not? Identify three possible conditions that may be considered as a differential diagnosis for this patient. Explain your reasoning using at least three different references from current evidence-based literature.
