Part 6 – Plan for Business Data and Analytics

You are the Vice President of Information Technology at a small, growing business. You have been tasked with developing a plan for maintaining databases for storage of business data and use in business analytics.

Using the work from Weeks 1-5, create a 20-minute presentation (10-12 slides) to explain your Database Management Plan. Ensure you:

  • Provide an overview of how databases can be used in a company to store and extract information.
  • Distinguish how organizational data can be used in the most effective way through developing a database.
  • Compare how structured and unstructured data are used for data analytics, including concepts like Cloud and Hadoop.
  • Evaluate and assist company decision makers in understanding the importance of database administration and data governance in relation to building scalable and robust applications.
  • List the benefits of data administration compared to database administration.
  • Propose an effective data governance program.
  • Recommend how individual team roles can contribute to finding ways to build in ongoing monitoring; all roles have an interest in database quality and recovery.
  • Summarize how your plan will assist the company in overall effectiveness, including the value of analytic results, such as data visualization and finding and applying patterns.

Your goal is to convince them that by implementing your Database Management Plan, the organization will be able to deliver effective, reliable data management support to meet business needs.

” Building a Dynamic Organization

The Stanley Lynch Investment Group is a large investment firm headquartered in New York. The firm has 12 major investment funds, each with analysts operating in a separate department. Along with knowledge of the financial markets and the businesses it analyzes, Stanley Lynch’s competitive advantage comes from its advanced and reliable computer systems. Thus an effective information technology (IT) divi-sion is a strategic necessity, and the company’s chief infor-mation officer (CIO) holds a key role at the firm.

When the company hired J. T. Kundra as a manager of technology, he learned that the IT division at Stanley Lynch consisted of 68 employees, most of whom specialized in serving the needs of a particular fund. The IT employees serving a fund operated as a distinct group, each of them led by a manager who supervised several employees. (Five employees reported to J. T.)

He also learned that each group set up its own computer system to store information about its projects. The problems with that arrangement quickly became evident. As J. T. tried to direct his group’s work, he would ask for documentation of one program or another. Sometimes, no one was sure where to find the documentation; often he would get three different responses from three different people with three versions of the documentation. And if he was interested in another group’s project or a software program used in another department, getting information was next to impos-sible. He lacked the authority to ask employees in another group to drop what they were doing to hunt down informa-tion he needed.

J. T. concluded that the entire IT division could serve the firm much better if all authorized people had easy access to the work that had already been done and the software that was available. The logical place to store that informa-tion was online. He wanted to get all IT projects set up in a cloud so that file sharing, and therefore knowledge sharing, would be more efficient and reliable. A challenge would be to get the other IT groups to buy in to the new system given that he had authority over so few of the IT workers.

J. T. started by working with his group to blueprint how the system would work. Then he met with two higher-level managers who report to the CIO. He showed them the plan and explained that fast access to information would improve the IT group’s quality and efficiency, thus increasing the pro-ductivity of the entire firm. He suggested that the managers require all IT employees to use the cloud system. He even persuaded them that their use of the system should be mea-sured for performance appraisals, which directly impacts annual bonuses.

The various IT groups quickly came to appreciate that the system would enhance performance. Adoption was swift, and before long, the IT employees came to think of it as one of their most important software systems.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. Give an example of differentiation in Stanley Lynch’s organization structure and an example of integration in this structure.

2. What role did authority play in the adoption of the cloud system by the IT division at Stanley Lynch?

3. How did the IT division use coordination to achieve greater integration?”

Walden University NURS 6050 Policy and Advocacy for Improving Population Health

Program/policy evaluation is a valuable tool that can help strengthen the quality of programs/policies and improve outcomes for the populations they serve. Program/policy evaluation answers basic questions about program/policy effectiveness. It involves collecting and analyzing information about program/policy activities, characteristics, and outcomes. This information can be used to ultimately improve program services or policy initiatives.

Nurses can play a very important role assessing program/policy evaluation for the same reasons that they can be so important to program/policy design. Nurses bring expertise and patient advocacy that can add significant insight and impact. In this Assignment, you will practice applying this expertise and insight by selecting an existing healthcare program or policy evaluation and reflecting on the criteria used to measure the effectiveness of the program/policy.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Healthcare Program/Policy Evaluation Analysis Template provided in the Resources.
  • Select an existing healthcare program or policy evaluation or choose one of interest to you.
  • Review community, state, or federal policy evaluation and reflect on the criteria used to measure the effectiveness of the program or policy described.

The Assignment: (2–3 pages)

Based on the program or policy evaluation you selected, complete the Healthcare Program/Policy Evaluation Analysis Template. Be sure to address the following:

  • Describe the healthcare program or policy outcomes.
  • How was the success of the program or policy measured?
  • How many people were reached by the program or policy selected?
  • How much of an impact was realized with the program or policy selected?
  • At what point in program implementation was the program or policy evaluation conducted?
  • What data was used to conduct the program or policy evaluation?
  • What specific information on unintended consequences was identified?
  • What stakeholders were identified in the evaluation of the program or policy? Who would benefit most from the results and reporting of the program or policy evaluation? Be specific and provide examples.
  • Did the program or policy meet the original intent and objectives? Why or why not?
  • Would you recommend implementing this program or policy in your place of work? Why or why not?
  • Identify at least two ways that you, as a nurse advocate, could become involved in evaluating a program or policy after 1 year of implementation.

Case Study:

Chapter 6: Modern Nursing

Case Study

You are caring for an 82-year-old woman who has been hospitalized for several weeks for burns that she sustained on her lower legs during a cooking accident. Before the time of her admission, she lived alone in a small apartment. The patient reported on admission that she has no surviving family. Her support system appears to be other elders who live in her neighborhood. Because of transportation difficulties, most of them are unable to visit frequently. One of her neighbors has reported that she is caring for the patient’s dog, a Yorkshire terrier. As you care for this woman, she begs you to let her friend bring her dog to the hospital. She says that none of the other nurses have listened to her about such a visit. As she asks you about this, she begins to cry and tells you that they have never been separated. You recall that the staff discussed their concern about this woman’s well-being during the report that morning. They said that she has been eating very little and seems to be depressed.

1. Based on Nightingale’s work, identify specific interventions that you would provide in caring for this patient.

2. Describe what action, if any, you would take regarding the patient’s request to see her dog. Discuss the theoretical basis of your decision and action based on your understanding of Nightingale’s work.

3. Describe and discuss what nursing diagnoses you would make and what interventions you would initiate to address the patient’s nutritional status and emotional well-being.

4. As the patient’s primary nurse, identify and discuss the planning you would undertake regarding her discharge from the hospital. Identify members of the discharge team and their roles in this process. Describe how you would advocate for the patient based on Nightingale’s observations and descriptions of the role of the nurse.

Digital Forensics

Cybercrime Law, Computer-Integrity Crime, Fraud, and Abuse.

 Preamble.

Integrity of evidence, cyber-crime, fraud, and abuse are prefaced on the assumption that computer and internet technologies are designed to make life easier for a public and private organization, the judicial system, and forensic investigators; it has, unfortunately, made life incredibly challenging and enduring in all levels of forensic investigation. Cyber-crime, fraud, abuse, are open-ended criminal operations, allowing unauthorized users to obtain information from various sources against a target organization. Naturally, criminals are endowed with extraordinary skills and expertise to break into any organization’s secured network center. Most criminal are have access automated freeware tools available on computer and Internet and breaks into the organization’s secured network system, data, assets, resources, to make forensic investigation exceedingly tricky. Most organizations and the global community are actively using computer and internet technologies to build four walls around security data storage centers, creating an opportunity for forensic investigator’s ability to produce reliable evidence. Similarly, organizations and the global defensive approach require a proactive plan of action to guide against data breach. This section examines the primary federal statutes used to prosecute cybercrime. The focus is on the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and the statutes criminalizing identity theft, child pornography, and copyright and trademark offenses (Casey, 2011: 86-95).

Computer Fraud and Abuse Act

The Computer Fraud and Act, Abuse is the primary source of federal law related to computer cybercrimes, and approval of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) in 1986. The amendments were designed to update specific Arts provisions in light of advancements in computer and internet technologies and to address loopholes that existed in earlier versions of the Act. Criminals gaining unauthorized access to a computer, disseminating malware, launching denial of service attacks, trafficking passwords, and using computers and the internet to commit fraud. Criminals are sophisticated and can intentionally use the computer and internet technologies without authorization.

Research Question 2:1. Develop a measurable research framework of hos computer fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) can play a role during the forensic investigation and impact on conclusive evidence in court.

Research Question 2:2. To what extent can the computer fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) of 1986 empowers forensic investigation to bring cyber-crime, fraud, and abuse to justice.

 Situation 1.

Naturally, criminals often retain extraordinary skills and expertise to break into any

organization’s secured network center. The criminal fully utilizes automated freeware

tools available on computers and the Internet and breaks into the organization’s secured network system, data, assets, resources, and makes forensic investigation exceedingly.

  • These extraordinary skills, expertise, and availability of automated freeware tools are creating a considerable obstacle against the forensic investigation process. We are the nation of law.

Question 2:3. Develop a measurable research framework of amendment items needed to strengthen the computer fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), and expand forensic investigator authority over criminal activities.

Andy: A Story of Screening and Referral

Andy: A Story of Screening and Referral

In this unit, you are introduced to the clinical psychology, counseling psychology, and neuropsychology branches of psychology. While these three specialty areas share overlap with goals for clients and the tools they employ in the process of assessment, they each have unique content knowledge and skill they acquired through training and provide differentiated roles and services. Subsequently, the referring concern and the needs of an individual will likely indicate which professional may be best suited to complete the assessment.

In Units 6 through 9, you have studied different applications of tests and measurements in a variety of settings and specialty areas. Regardless of the specialization, it is likely that at some time, a psychologist will have a client with one of the referral concerns including possible neurological problems. In this unit, you read about psychologists using a standard battery to gather information on an individual from a variety of tests and instruments as a means of screening for a neurological deficit. A minimum amount of testing for an adequate neuropsychological screening includes an intelligence test, a personality test, and a perceptual, motor, or memory test.

In this discussion, you will refer to the following case study to answer the questions in Part 1 and Part 2 of this activity. Andy was referred to you, a psychologist.

Case Study

Details:

  • Name: Andrew “Andy” Davis.
  • Age: 6 years, 0 months.
  • Mother: Emily Davis, single parent.
  • Sibling: Molly.
  • Recent changes: Relocation to a smaller house, father abandoned family.
  • Referral concerns (reported by mother): Frequent intense imaginative play, significantly reduced social interactions, talks to self in his room, destroys toys (for example, rips arms of dolls), falls frequently, and concerns that he fell down stairs (with no open head injury) at the new house (that is, Andy reported falling down and off staircase railing).

Part 1

Based on this referral information, what would be the three tests you would include in a standard battery for screening purposes that include neurological concerns?

You may use, as a guide, the same test list that was provided to you in Unit 2. You are allowed to choose tests outside of those on the list. This task will allow you to review tests covered in earlier units of this course, as well as some that are introduced in this unit. However, remember to address a minimum of three recommended areas of assessment for a screening of this type. Be sure to take into consideration age range appropriate for the tests and instruments you select. Then, provide an explanation for using each instrument and how it connects to your working hypothesis on Andy and his mother’s concerns.

Part 2

You complete your evaluation using the three (or more) tests in your standard battery and obtain signs signaling that a more thorough neuropsychological evaluation is recommended. Subsequently, Andy is referred to Dr. Woody Pride, a neuropsychologist. Dr. Pride decides to administer Andy the Brief Neuropsychological Cognitive Examination (BNCE) published by WPS since it can be administered in one sitting and reports that it minimizes reading skills to complete it.

Based on this information from Dr. Pride, and after conducting your own research on this test selection, determine if this is an appropriate test to obtain additional data on Andy regarding neuropsychological concerns. If it is appropriate, then state that and provide your rationale for supporting this as a test selection. If it is not appropriate, then state that and provide your rationale for rejecting this as a test selection. Finally, regardless if you find the BNCE appropriate or not for Andy and the referring concerns, identify a second neuropsychological test that would be highly recommended for its use with Andy (you may select one from the list provided you in Unit 2, or another neuropsychological test battery).

As a test user, identify any AERA standards regarding The Rights and Responsibilities of Test Users, which are implicated in this case study of Andy Davis.

Starbucks serves its customers from inputs to outputs by knowing the needs of its customers. Starbucks is aware that the customers are what drive the business in growth. Therefore, they have performance objectives to be able to provide an exceptional service to their customers. This would include the speed of the workers. The workers are required to be quick and smooth as they do not want customers to have to wait to receive their items. In addition, a main one is quality. When reviewing the suppliers page, there was a lot of requirements and straightforward qualifications and rules. This is to ensure that the output of items have great quality. Based off reading into the supplier page, it was obvious from the beginning that Starbucks wants suppliers that are able to provide that great quality and freshness of all products. Also, there is dependability. This dependability plays both ways. The input of customers to Starbucks allows the output of exceptional service, and that works the other way around also.

In addition, Starbucks cares about the environment, so they want to provide and produce a benefit to the customers and community. This would include producing social, economic, and environmental benefits. This also comes from the supplier’s link page in that it requires its suppliers to have standards and requirements and to follow them. There is an agreement that states the code of conduct at the time of dealing.

DQR. 2

Starbucks Coffee Company is the largest globalized coffee shop, retailer. Their high marketing and various products have led to increased recognition. This has allowed them to continue growth and expand.  Starbuck’s objective is to be recognized and be the most respected brand of coffee in the nation. Their mission is “to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time” (Starbucks, 2020).

Starbucks has in place supplier guidance to provide current and future suppliers requirements that they must comply with. Ethical standards are sets of guidelines set out by the organization’s members to express the core moral beliefs. In all corporate interactions, Starbucks is committed to the highest ethical principles. In our book, it states,” At the heart of operations management is the transformation process through which inputs (resources such as labor, money, materials, and energy) are converted into outputs (goods, services, and ideas)” (Ferrell, Hirt, & Ferrell, 2020). This is very important to the success of the company.

An input for Starbucks is that they use a vertically integrated supply chain, which means that the company is engaged in every step of the supply chain process, from coffee beans to cups of coffee delivered to customers. The organization claims that communicating directly with farmers means that the same consistency and taste levels are obtained for all its coffee beans. Starbucks also partners directly with farmers, and the organization is only dedicated to offering Fair Trade coffee, which is ethically sourced. The coffee beans are shipped to distributing centers, where baristas use them. The output is the specialty drinks that are made to their customers. Starbucks is successful because it has offered an atmosphere that has transformed how much the world thinks about coffee shops and how many of us consume coffee outside our homes.

Unit 3 case study due monday, must be at least two pages in length

Instructions

Read the scenario below, and answer the following questions.

You work as a financial analyst at a large automobile corporation that occasionally makes acquisitions of smaller companies that specialize in the production and assembly of small component parts. In order to achieve vertical integration of its newest sports sedan model, the company is evaluating a few manufacturing companies that have experienced strong financial performance in the past few years. These companies would make excellent acquisitions due to the nature and quality of the product and the anticipated ease of transition. You have been tasked to evaluate these companies from a financial perspective and choose one. To do this, you need to brush up on a few concepts by addressing the following topics:

  1. Describe what a crediting rate/score is. Should this be a factor in evaluating companies?
  2. The firm will need to raise funds immediately for the acquisition, and debt will be used. Should the firm borrow on a long-term or short-term basis? Why?
  3. Explain the effect, if any, inflation rates will have on the purchase? How significant is this factor?
  4. Define the relationship between yield curves and the term structure of interest rates.
  5. Explain what would happen to interest rates if a new process was developed that allowed automobiles to run off oil that was formulated based on lemonade? The technology used to convert this liquid to gas would be pricey but well worth it. What impact would this technology have on interest rates?
  6. Discuss what ratios should be used to assess the financial health of the potential acquisition?

Your completed case study must be at least two pages in length, and you must use at least your textbook as a reference. Other references may be used as needed. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment. APA formatting, however, is not necessary.

Assignment and discussion

Module 1 Discussion Question: Answer the following questions honestly – this is safe space to reflect and learn about topics we cover! Some students like to type their discussion post first in a Word document to check grammar, spelling and word count. Then they copy and paste it into the textbox. If you do this, you will need to use ‘ctrl v’ to paste it.

  • Discuss the current public image of nursing and how events in history have formed that image.

Initial post is due on Thursday, Replies are due on Sunday. To be successful on the board:

  • Meet the word requirement fully for all required posts. The minimum word count for your initial post is 400. Two replies must be 200 minimum for each one. Any initial post less than 400 words and any reply less than 200 will be docked points. Word count does not include the references at the bottom – most students miss points here by counting the references in their word count.
  • All questions posed are answered fully in detail. Spelling and grammar are without errors.
  • Two replies are insightful, educational and relevant to the learning experience.
  • The directions state to use at least one scholarly source other than the textbook (or given materials) and cite in text in APA and reference in APA at the bottom.
  • Correct APA is required in citations and references. All citations must have a reference and all references must be cited in the text.

Module 1 Assignment: Due Monday. This first week’s assignment is an APA paper of 1000 words with a required 3 sources used throughout the paper – cited and referenced correctly in APA. Rubric is for an APA Essay found in the Assignment Upload link in the lower right corner– please review. This week we talk about Building the Profession of Nursing:

  • First, explore the history of nursing and choose two events/topics from history related to nursing (ie education, practices, important people, etc.) and explain each one in detail and why they are important to the nursing profession.
  • Next, research two professional nursing organizations and discuss the following for each organization chosen:
    • The name of the organization and why this organization is important to nursing
    • What resources they provide to members
    • Cost of membership and how many members are part of the organization
    • Current issues the organization is working on
    • Finally, after researching this question answer in detail: Why are Professional Organizations in general important to nursing as a profession?

ANYTIME YOU COMPLETE A PAPER/ESSAY in this course you must follow the APA rules. Use these requirements to attain full credit regardless if they are all listed out in the directions within the course.

  • Set paper with 1-inch margins all around. Spacing ‘before’ and ‘after’ set at 0. Entire document including reference list and running is double spaced, font 12 with all paragraphs indented on the first line by 1/2 inch.
  • One title page with APA page numbers and the title, your name, school, professor’s name and credentials, date.
  • There is NO ABSTRACT in papers for this course. At the top of page 2 you will repeat the title of your assignment (bold and centered) and then write a brief introduction paragraph of the ENTIRE paper (main sections should be mentioned; THIS INCLUDES ANY TOPICS FOR CASE STUDY SECTIONS).
  • Intro is followed by a Level 1 subheading (bold and centered) for the first half of the assignment. This week it’s Nursing Past Related to Current Profession.  Any question/point you are addressing under this heading should be marked clearly with Level 2 subheading which are bolded and flush left.
  • Immediately after the first section above without any spaces, you will also use another Level 1 subheading (bold and centered) prior to the second half of the assignment which is the case study. This week it’s Professional Nursing Organizations. Again, differentiate which question/point you are answering by using a Level 2 subheading (bold and at the left margin).
  • After both sections are discussed at length – there will be ONE Conclusion – needed for all papers as the last Level 1 subheading bold and centered that summarizes the entire paper/knowledge gained
  • There will be ONE alphabetized reference page for all sources set “hanging” with references in APA format. All citations need a reference!
  • All references listed are cited correctly in APA format in the text! Points are docked for incorrect citations and not meeting the source requirement.
  • Should use 3rd person the majority of the time but it is OK to use 1st person when describing a personal experience related to a specific question.
