Unit V Essay

Instructions

The use of teams can bring about great change within an organization; however, effective outcomes often depend on how teams are assembled and incorporated. A key component to the assembly of a team is the level of diversity that will be included. As discussed throughout this unit, the presence of diversity can provide an advantage for a team but can also create some difficulties that must be overcome. The essay topic is the advantages and disadvantages of diverse teams within an organization. The following questions should be addressed:

  • What are some advantages to utilizing diverse teams within an organization?
  • What are some potential difficulties that might need to be overcome in order for a diverse team to be successful?
  • What are some methods and tactics that can be utilized to overcome the potential difficulties?
  • As a conclusion, is it worth the effort to attempt to overcome the difficulties in light of the potential advantages of a diverse team?

Your essay should be at least three pages in length, including an introduction, a body of supported material, and a conclusion. The reference and title pages do not count toward the total page requirement. A minimum of three scholarly references are required. Please use the CSU Online Library to locate the supporting references to write this essay.

Information System for health Care

Within the Discussion Board area, write 600–800 words each that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

1) The chief information officer (CIO) of CTU Health Care wants you, the manager of the information systems department, to ensure that the employees within your department are aware of the challenges facing the department since the implementation of the electronic health record (EHR). Discuss the following:

  • Discuss 5 major challenges that are currently facing the department.
  • Discuss the impact of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) on these challenges.

Note: Use APA style and cite at least 3 scholarly references published within the last 5 years.

2)  As the manager of the CTU Health Care information systems department, complete the following:

  • Define health information governance.
  • Discuss the major components of health information governance and its importance on health care organization information systems.
  • Discuss the importance of communication and information governance.

Note: Use APA style and cite at least 3 scholarly references published within the last 5 years.

3) As the manager of the CTU Health Care information systems department, you recognize that change management is critical to the success of the implementation of the electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR). You also recognize that change management requires cultivating and managing realistic expectations of all of the departments involved.

For this assignment, you must explain how you would guide the change process among team members and departments. Consider the following questions:

  • Who are the stakeholders?
  • Who are the users?
  • How will you handle resisters to change?
  • How will you achieve buy-in for the change process?
  • How will you address low computer literacy levels among physicians and employees?

Note: Use APA style and cite at least 3 scholarly references published within the last 5 years.

4) CTU Health Care Systems has five clinics that serve nearly 2 million residents in a large metropolitan area and treat over 500,000 patients annually. Now that you have successfully implemented the electronic health record (EHR) at the main facility, it is time to integrate the clinic’s information technology (IT) with the main hospital’s EHR. In preparation for the implementation of an EHR system for the five clinics, the health care system implemented an electronic document (ED) and content management (CM) system to handle the imaging, indexing, and storage of selected hard copy documents from active patient paper medical records so that in the future, to support continuity of care needs, key documents would be retrievable through the EHR system. However, the health care system lacked the level of internal IT and health information services staff resources required to manage the implementation of hardware and software to handle the actual paper conversion process, so these aspects of the project were outsourced.

Discuss the following:

  • As the health care system prepares to select an outsource company as its vendor for this project, what types of information should you gather from each vendor under consideration?
  • What are the potential benefits that a health care system could gain from implementing a document imaging and management project prior to implementing an EHR system?

Note: Use APA style and cite at least 3 scholarly references published within the last 5 years.

Applied Final Project Part 2: Annotated Bibliography

Part 2: Annotated Bibliography (20 points, 15%)

Annotated bibliographies provide you with the opportunity to cite, summarize, and compare and contrast resources you will use in a project. You will cite each resource in APA style, write an approximately 150-word description that summarizes the central theme and scope of the resource, and compare and contrast it with other resources. For more information on annotated bibliographies, consult UMGC’s How to Write an Annotated Bibliography https://sites.umgc.edu/library/libhow/bibliography_tutorial.cfm

For this project, you are to identify at least 10 original sources of research from scholarly sources. At least 3-4 of your sources must have been published within the past 3 years.

Depending on the assignment, the annotated bibliography may serve a number of purposes, including but not limited to reviewing the literature on a particular subject, illustrating the quality of research you have done, providing examples of the types of resources available, describing other items on a topic that may be of interest to the reader, and/or exploring the subject for further research.

Annotated Bibliography, specifically the following critical elements must be addressed:
   • Summarize the central theme of the resource.
   • Include a paragraph in which you do the following:
o Evaluate the author’s authority or background.

Assignment: Focused SOAP Note for Schizophrenia Spectrum, Other Psychotic, and Medication-Induced Movement Disorders

Using the video provided as the case study.

The Assignment

Develop a focused SOAP note, including your differential diagnosis and critical-thinking process to formulate a primary diagnosis. Incorporate the following into your responses in the template:

  • Subjective: What details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint and symptomology to derive your differential diagnosis? What is the duration and severity of their symptoms? How are their symptoms impacting their functioning in life?
  • Objective: What observations did you make during the psychiatric assessment?
  • Assessment: Discuss the patient’s mental status examination results. What were your differential diagnoses? Provide a minimum of three possible diagnoses with supporting evidence, and list them in order from highest priority to lowest priority. Compare the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for each differential diagnosis and explain what DSM-5 criteria rules out the differential diagnosis to find an accurate diagnosis. Explain the critical-thinking process that led you to the primary diagnosis you selected. Include pertinent positives and pertinent negatives for the specific patient case.
  • Plan: What is your plan for psychotherapy? What is your plan for treatment and management, including alternative therapies? Include pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments, alternative therapies, and follow-up parameters, as well as a rationale for this treatment and management plan. Also incorporate one health promotion activity and one patient education strategy.
  • Reflection notes: What would you do differently with this patient if you could conduct the session again? Discuss what your next intervention would be if you were able to follow up with this patient. Also include in your reflection a discussion related to legal/ethical considerations (demonstrate critical thinking beyond confidentiality and consent for treatment!), health promotion, and disease prevention, taking into consideration patient factors (such as age, ethnic group, etc.), PMH, and other risk factors (e.g., socioeconomic, cultural background, etc.).
  • Provide at least three evidence-based, peer-reviewed journal articles or evidenced-based guidelines that relate to this case to support your diagnostics and differential diagnoses. Be sure they are current (no more than 5 years old).

2-Table of contents:

As stated before:

• Each one of these entries should be in the same style.

4-USE CASE PATHS:

We’re half-way there in this area. You’ve got the user actions, but this should be divided up into what the rider does, what the system does, and what the driver does. The transaction doesn’t stop here. As a part of this transaction, the system needs to notify the driver of the ride.

Remember that there are 3 components in this area: What the user(s) do, what the system does, and either a picture or a description of the interface.  Your programming and QA team can’t afford to guess what you have in mind. We need still more detail.

Within the flows, the steps need to be numbered or lettered, both for QA purposes, but also for exception purposes. Exceptions pick up at the first deviation number (or letter). There are almost always exception cases, such as (1) user cancels partway through the process or (2) no ride available.

Some of these cases have tables, and some don’t. It’s hard to tell where one use case starts and one ends. Reformat like this to make this clear:

• Number and Title

• Description

• Preconditions (if any)

• Primary flow, as a table

• Any alternate flows, as similar tables

• Post-conditions, if any

Remember that each transaction must be complete.

Health care is a public policy that differs depending on where you live; therefore, the health care in the United States differs from the health care in Canada and Germany. In the United States, the Affordable Care Act has led to many discussions. Main issues are the increased cost and annual deductibles, as well as a lack of providers, making it more difficult to provide adequate and affordable health care for the community (HealthCare.gov, n.d.). Other countries have enacted plans to help with health care coverage as well.

In Germany, health care is based on statutory health insurance and a state-funded health care system. Anyone who earns a set income is required to pay for health insurance. There are different tiers of health insurance such as the Allgemeine Krankenkasse (AOK). The AOK covers everyone with statutory insurance with equal rights to medical care and continued wages when ill. The premiums are based on income. The next tier is semi-private health insurance (e.g., the Deutsche Angestellten Krankenkasse). The top tier includes the private health insurance coverage for business owners, providing the premium health care. All premiums are based on annual income (PubMed Health, 2018).

In Canada, the health care system is provided through provincial and territorial systems of publicly funded health care. It is guided by the Canada Health Care Act of 1984 (Government of Canada, 2018). These are just a few examples of how healthcare is managed outside of the United States.

As a scholar in public administration, you are asked to present health care options based on three different countries’ information for the next congressional meeting in your state. Be sure to include the following information:

Perform a SWOT analysis of each health care system presenting the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of each system. You are required to evaluate the United States’ system but may choose two other countries besides Canada and Germany. Be sure to emphasize ethics when preparing your SWOT analysis. Facilitate a cost/health care benefit analysis for each system to determine the best fit for your state (be sure to identify your state to provide context for your presentation). Prepare a budget plan for the implementation of your chosen healthcare program. Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists and should cite material appropriately. Add audio to each slide using the Media section of the Insert tab in the top menu bar for each slide.  Support your presentation with at least five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.

Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate reference slide)
Notes Length: 200-350 words for each slide

Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style where appropriate. Save the file as PPT with the correct course code information.

Case Study #2 assignment

Assignment 2: Case Study #2

Overview

As you continue to practice the psychological concepts you’re learning in this course, you’re honing the problem solving and self and social awareness skills that will help you navigate social situations in your life and career. You’re discovering how to apply these skills to understand the behaviors of others, improve your relationships, and make informed decisions based on reliable information.

And no matter what kind of situation you encounter at school, home, or work, you’re learning how to recognize and manage your emotions so they don’t get the best of you!

Now, it’s time to practice the skills and concepts to help your friend Gloria navigate a difficult workplace situation.

Case Study and Questions

Gloria and Lakeisha are coworkers who are assigned to work on a project together. Lakeisha is very organized and wants them to do really well on this project. To help them get started, Lakeisha took some initiative and prepared a list of to-do items along with due dates. She even color-coded the list to indicate which partner will do each item and sends an email to Gloria with the to-do list. Lakeisha wants her partner to know that she’s serious about their success.

Gloria is surprised by Lakeisha’s to-do list and feels a bit uncomfortable because she feels like Lakeisha is micromanaging her. Gloria wants to do her part on the project but is feeling anxious because she doesn’t know where she fits in, and it is making her worried about working on this project. She wonders how she can succeed on this project if Lakeisha is already the leader. When working for a previous employer, Gloria felt anxious about her ability to successfully complete a project and attempted to communicate her feelings with a coworker; however, her coworker didn’t seem to understand Gloria’s concerns and said that she should just ignore her feelings and get the work done.

As Gloria ponders having a conversation with Lakeisha, she starts to feel overwhelmed and thinks it might just be easier to be removed from the project. Using your problem solving and self and social awareness skills and what you have learned about personality traits and emotions, answer the questions below to help Gloria calm her anxiety and find a solution to her problem:

1. From Chapter 3 in the webtext, what are the Big 5 personality traits?

2. Use one of the Big 5 personality traits to describe Gloria’s personality.

3. Chapter 6 in the webtext focused on emotions. Using what you learned, give advice to Gloria on how she can identify and regulate her own emotions so that she can stick with this project, and be successful.

4. If you were in this situation, how confident are you that you could successfully resolve a workplace conflict like the one that Gloria faced? What past experiences or knowledge influence your answer
