Deliverable 7 – Proposal for Implementation

Instructions

You have recently changed jobs, and have left your previous role working in the hospitality and tourism industry, and have taken a position with HealthyCo–a major health insurance provider–in hopes of advancing your career. During your first week on the job, you have received a fairly comprehensive orientation to the new environment and have a preliminary understanding of the organization.HealthyCo is currently supporting over 10 million members across the United States, all of whom have clinical data related to their health within the organization’s tools. One such tool is a complex web portal allowing users to log in and access medical records, treatment history, select a doctor, find a hospital, submit medical claims receipts, and much more. A mobile app has also been released that allows for remote access to these systems, as well as incentive trackers for fitness programs, wellness programs for pregnant mothers, dietary advice, and access to a 24/7 emergency nurse service for support over the phone.Your boss, Marissa Brooks, has tasked you with explaining the current space to a group of board members and upper management by providing a high-level assessment of opportunities of how business intelligence practices could be employed for the online portion of the business and how it can relate back to clinical systems. As you are still new, the request is not to focus on specifics, but more on opportunities at a high-level such as at a system-to-system level.

The questions they are presenting you with include:

  • How can business intelligence practices improve our member’s experience? What can we do with this information?
  • What recommendations do you have for changes or additions to our current system structure?
  • Is there a need for a full business intelligence team in our organization, or can we work within our current employee base and just add duties to those who are qualified?

The task:

Record a presentation using the screen sharing Webware/software of your choice (an Internet search will reveal many free options). Your presentation can be recorded with your own voiceover and visuals, just as you would if you were giving the presentation live.Your proposal to the board and management should explain why a dedicated business intelligence team should be put into place to support HealthyCo and its continued growth, with a specific focus on the systems mentioned above. Your proposal should include specifics related to integration opportunities with the identified systems, the importance of data privacy, data warehousing opportunities to leverage data collected and stored, opportunities for executive dashboard creation and use, and a list of business intelligence team members and what their primary duties would be.Create a summary report to accompany your presentation as a takeaway for your board and executive management team.

I need a discussion done for week 10 and a response to 2 other classmates for my Leading change by putting people first

Continuing the “People First” Mission

Leading change by putting people first is a noble aspiration. It has been the central theme of this course, but one could argue it is the most prominent theme in the entire JWMI MBA program. Sustaining this focus and building a culture that embraces this ideal requires that senior leadership beyond the HR department: (a) believes this approach will lead to a competitive advantage, and (b) commits to the practices to make it happen.

As our course draws to a close, share your insights on the following:

  • What can we do as HR leaders to ensure that a “people first” agenda is truly embedded in the culture?
  • How can we ensure the changes we want to drive connect practices that put people first with competitive strength?
  • How will you apply change leadership differently based on what you learned in this and your other HR concentration courses?
  • What’s next in your own professional change journey?

Post your initial response by Wednesday, midnight of your time zone, and reply to at least 2 of your classmates’ initial posts by Sunday,

 RE: Week 10 DiscussionCOLLAPSE

Dr. Bodam and classmates,

  • What can we do as HR leaders to ensure that a “people first” agenda is truly embedded in the culture?

As HR leaders, we must understand that communication is a critical element of the “people first” agenda.  If we, as HR leaders, do not use candor and empathy through our communication, we will fail.  There is a need to listen to employees, and also, we have an obligation to let them know where they stand in the company.  To communicate with employees through dialog at all levels, top-down and bottom-up.  By this, I mean that all must feel comfortable communicating in the workplace environment.

  • How can we ensure the changes we want to drive connect practices that put people first with competitive strength?

The way that this is done is through concise and clear communication from the start of any change that takes place in the organization.  Having a standard from the start of any change initiative done will create a competitive strength that will ensure the changes are sustainable.  Making the foundation of values and mission for the company in any aspect is key for all leaders and especially HR leaders.

  • How will you apply change leadership differently based on what you learned in this and your other HR concentration courses?

Through this class and the other HR concentration course, I have learned that always place people first.  I will use the communication skills that I have learned through the military and through JWMI to make a foundation of the company’s mission and values.  I will make sure that the employees understand the mission and values of the company as well.  By knowing these, we will make sure that we have a strong foundation to grow.  I will also make sure that the applied changes are always clear and concise for all employees.

  • What is next in your own professional change journey?

My journey for the last two years has been, let’s say, crazy.  The last job I had was overseas, and I worked 7 days and about 14 plus hour days.  Since I did this for about three years, I decided in 2019 that I would take off, which lead to the pandemic of 2020.  With this being said, I am working on getting into the business world to share the great leadership that I have gained over the years.  I have not worked in the HR field before, but I have been receiving bad HR individuals.  I want to branch into HR to make sure this does not happen to others and make sure the company I am with grows into what I know it can be.

As we all know, communication over the last 10 years or so has changed, and I feel that it needs to be brought back into everything we do.  I will make sure that it is there in my professional career and does not leave the workplace.  In the end, we all want to work in a place that promotes change to the next level of growth.

 RE: Week 10 DiscussionCOLLAPSE

Good evening Professor Bodham and classmates,

To ensure that the people’s first agenda lives on, we should ensure that the organization’s culture is empowering, quick to make decisions, open and candid, and allow the departments to be more risk-tolerant (1).  In maintaining the people’s first agenda, the following behaviors should also occur: people are necessary to the organization’s success. Everyone is needed; pay employees what they are worth and ensure opportunities are available for advancement. HR leaders can work with department managers, assisting them that the culture will thrive for the organization’s success. To gain competitive strength, organizations will need more leaders and not the manager. “These new change leaders must have a vision and the ability to predict the future; they must have a special capacity to anticipate the radically unexpected” (2).

The principles that I have learned in this course resonated with me due to talking and walking the walk. As a leader, we must lead by example, and I must also examine my goals and aspirations. I am engaged with those that I lead to synergy with the organization that I am employed. The information that I have retained in the course dealt with how we perceive a situation or what we think. I understand now that your attitude and vision have much to do with your success as a leader. My professional career path must change, which is a process because I desire to enter a career I do not have experience in. However, I have a plan, and I am in constant contact with the leadership of the HR department where I am employed when the positions are opened I will make a career shift.

Best Wishes to all in your future endeavors!

Danielle

Respond to Alexy Post

Hello everyone, my name is Alexy and i am 24 i am a stay at home mom to my son who will be 2 years old this month. I was working in sales for 6 years prior to staying a stay at home mom and i travel with my husband for his work. I am pursuing a bachelors degree in business administration. Liberal arts are important since they teach the communication and people skills needed in the work place, and to success in life. Liberal arts majors according to the article have the general skills to contribute to a good cause in society and change the world and i think that’s why the liberal arts are so important. You can be taught all the technical skills of a job but if you are not taught to be self motivated learner and know how to communicate with people then success will be very hard to find. I have taken a personal finance and physics class before. I have worked in sales and marketing and advertising and the communication skills is how liberal arts fits into my life. I had to communicate sales and promotions properly to the customer to gain trust that i was selling them the best product to fit their needs and have that customer come back to the store and ask for me to help them again. My communication and people skills gained me a lot of loyal customers who would walk into the store and ask for me to help them instead of another sales person. I had to use critical thinking so that the sale was making me commission and helping me meet quota all while keeping the customer satisfied with their purchase.

Reading Response Journal: Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics

For this assignment, you are to read a primary source related to the content of the lecture in this module. Upon completion of the reading, you will need to complete a reading response journal. Reading response journals provide opportunities to practice understanding and evaluation of philosophical conceptions of the good life we consider in the course; these opportunities, along with feedback received, will prepare you for the analysis and evaluation component of the final project.

After reading the Nicomachean Ethics reflect on the ideas, arguments, conceptions, and perspectives Aristotle offers. Consider one of them that you find intriguing, compelling, or important to your understanding of the reading. In doing so, ponder the specific reasons for why you find it intriguing, compelling, or important. Possible considerations to contemplate is the strength of an argument in terms of its validity, its truthfulness in terms of evidence that can support it, its coherence with other ideas presented in the reading, its relatability to your own life (especially the specific values and beliefs you hold–not just a story about how one time…), and how it compares with other philosophical perspectives you have encountered elsewhere. Be sure to explain the argument you choose, define philosophical concepts that you use, and provide examples to support your points. Your explanation should include textual support with citations; any citation style can be used so long as the page number of the quote or paraphrase is provided. To earn full credit and have appropriate philosophical depth, your response should be at least 400 words.

Interview Analysis (Read Carefully) Use the attachment as a guide

For this Assignment, please interview at least two (or more) friends, relatives, colleagues, etc. to ascertain answers to the following questions:

1. What impact did the events of 9/11 have on their sense of security/vulnerability?

2. Do they agree or disagree with the U.S. response to the attacks?

· Which aspects of the U.S. response do they feel have been most successful and effective?

· Which aspects of the U.S. response do they feel have been least effective or even counter-productive?

· Do they feel safer now than they did after 9/11? Why, or why not?

· What areas of vulnerability do they think have not been addressed that should be?

3. The U.S. is a melting pot; do you believe interaction with people with different religious practices help to enrich the cultural life of our country? Do you feel the events of 9/11 stimulated more interaction with Muslims?

Be sure to ask detailed follow-up questions. Here are some suggestions to get you started.

· Do they agree or disagree with the term “War on Terrorism”? Do they think the “war” will ever be “won,” and all terrorist threats completely eliminated? If they disagree on the term, what would they suggest as an alternative?

· Do they feel civil liberties, including privacy rights, have been curtailed significantly in the wake of the U.S. response? If so, in what way? Is some curtailment of some civil liberties for some individuals a necessary step, even if not ideal? Do they agree with the government’s justifications for wiretapping, etc.?

· Do they agree with holding captured suspects indefinitely without charge? Or do they think suspects should enjoy due process and be tried in civilian courts?

· What are their thoughts on secret prisons, extraordinary rendition, and the enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay?

· Do they agree with the rationale behind the invasion of either Afghanistan or Iraq or both?

· Are citizens of other countries at all justified in their negative view of America’s stand in the world?

Write a 3−5-page paper identifying the specific questions on which your interview subjects differ, and articulate the interviewee’s reasoning behind those answers. You will need to submit your notes you took from your interview along with this assignment.

· Share your opinion on the same questions, and on the subjects’ answers. Did any of their answers change your mind, or cause you to rethink your own opinion? If so, how? If not, why not?

· As you analyze your responses to the same questions, think about how these feelings will impact your current or future organization. How will your perspectives toward other cultures and diversity impact your day-to-day actions with an organization?
