NFL PRESENTATION

The city of Birmingham in Alabama has recently had a vote to determine if the  citizens want a professional sports team to move to their city, and if  they are willing to have a one-cent tax increase to support the cost of  such a project. The vote was “Yes” by a large majority.

You are the vice president of finance for a consulting firm that has  been hired by the city’s mayor and city council to give them a detailed  analysis of what it would take to entice a professional team to move to  their city.  You are a member of the five-person team that will conduct  the analysis and make a presentation to the mayor and city council. Your  responsibility is to provide the financial analysis for the project  which includes the construction of a sports venue to accommodate the  team.  THE TEAM CHOSEN IS THE NFL JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS.

This is an extensive project which you have been working on during the  term. The numbers used in this assignment are to be a realistic estimate  based on your research of similar projects.  Create a presentation convincing the city that the Jacksonville Jaguars move is a good one for the city.

Your presentation must contain the following elements:

  • Thorough discussion of financial concepts
  • A capital budget
  • An operating budget for year one
  • A five year return on investment (ROI)
  • Capital structuring for the project
  • At least 20 slides

Project 1: Planning Personal Finances

Read bellow and answer question

A good friend of yours, Frank, just graduated college and is starting his first career job working as a game developer with a salary of $72,000. While Frank has an outstanding knowledge of information technology and developing cool “apps” for the iPhone, he has absolutely no idea how to organize his finances, and he wishes that he had taken a personal finance course while he was in college. As his new life begins, he is confused with financial terminology like financial planning, budgeting, tax audits, financial services, etc. He would like to have his own “place” to live and maybe purchase a new car and house in the near future.

Frank just received a letter from the financial aid department stating that he will need to start making payments on his student loans in six months-ouch! He has been purchasing new clothes for his job, eating out all the time, while the money just seems to flow out from his bank account for all of his new expenses. The good news is that Frank is about to receive his first “real” paycheck which is quite exciting. Before cashing that check and heading to the uptown area of Dallas, Frank comes to his senses and has just sent you a text on what to do with his cash. He understands that you are taking a personal finance course and are becoming quite skilled at managing money. Let’s help Frank build a positive financial plan.

1. Financial Planning Process
• Frank needs to have an understanding of the financial planning process. Define and explain

each of the six steps of the financial planning process. 2. Influence on Economic Conditions

• Personal financial decisions are most closely influenced by economic conditions of consumer prices/inflation, consumer spending, and interest rates. Define and explain for Frank these three economic conditions.

3. Work Experience

• Frank, like many college students, had a lack of work experience when he applied for his career occupation. List and explain various ways that a college student could gain valuable employment experiences while still in college.

4. Professional Network

• Frank was quite fortunate to land a job right out of college. While Frank has a respectable amount of followers on Twitter, he realizes that he really needs to better develop his professional network. List and explain to Frank networking strategies, as well as, strategies to conduct an informational interview that he can incorporate to build his long-term career plan.

5. Personal Financial Records System
• Frank really needs to put together a personal financial records system. Explain to Frank

why this is a good idea and how he should proceed in establishing this system.

6. Budgeting Process
• Frank is terrified of the word budget as he thinks his money will be restricted. Try to calm

him down by listing and explaining the eight steps in the budgeting process. 7. Taxes

• As a single person with no dependents and a good paying job, Frank is probably going to pay high income taxes. He really needs to examine strategies to lower his taxable income. Explain to Frank what a tax credit and a tax deduction are, and list examples that Frank could legally use to reduce his tax burden.

8. Tax Audits

• Oh no! Frank just received an audit notification from the IRS and he is completely freaked out. Help Frank complete a list of his audit rights, and strategies of how he should conduct himself in the audit.

9. Financial Services

• Great work, Frank survived the IRS audit thanks to your advice and even received a $2,000 check due to an error by the IRS. Frank thinks he should put that money in the bank and would like to know what other services banks offer besides a simple checking account. List and explain to Frank the major types of financial services that a bank or financial institution usually offer their customers.

10. Savings Plans

• It just keeps getting better for Frank as his Aunt Sally has just given him a graduation gift of $1,000! However, she says that Frank must save at least 90% of this amount. List and explain several options of savings plans that he could put this money towards.

DIRECTIONS:

  • •  To receive full credit for this project, you should explain each answer in detail. Use your

textbook, (chapters 1-5), notes and Internet research to complete this project.

  • •  This Project should be a minimum of 1,000 words (not including the repetition of the question). Each question must be answered for full-credit.

Number each of your answers and/or provide a brief heading. Do not copy the questions and paste them in your work. I will simply delete the wording of the question to attain an accurate word count.

Please use an 11/12-point font for body paragraphs and a 14-point for headings. Anything larger than this makes your work difficult to read.

Document must be submitted in either a Microsoft Word format or convert to a PDF file. These are the only files that I can accept.

Include a title page with your name and title of the project. Save your project with your name in the file name.

Leininger and Watson

Write a 1500-1750 word APA paper addressing each of the following points. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least two (2) sources and the textbook using citations in your essay. Make sure to cite using the APA writing style for the essay. The cover page and reference page in correct APA do not count towards the minimum word amount. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

Case study #1

Mrs. Franklin-Jones was admitted from the Emergency Room to Cardiac Intensive Care one week ago with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. She has recovered as expected and is moving to the cardiac step down unit today. She is talking with Nurse Julie Hernandez, as she gets settled in her new room, “I was really surprised when I got that bad pain in my chest! I knew I had high pressure but I just didn’t think it was that bad. I try to take my medicine like they told me to in the clinic but sometimes I forget. I guess that I need to study those papers they gave me about what foods I should eat and not eat. I better take care of myself! Momma had bad pressure and it killed her! Who knows—I may even have to learn to cook different than I was taught in Jamaica! I may have to let Tomas do the cooking. He’s got more time at home now than I do since he lost his job. There isn’t too much time between my shifts at the school cafeteria and my new housecleaning job. You know my sister is coming up from Jamaica to see me. I think she is bringing me some bush tea. That’ll set me right!”

  • Using Leininger’s Culture Care Model, what factors in the story shared by Mrs. Franklin-Jones should be considered by Nurse Hernandez when planning for the patient’s discharge?
  • Why is the theory of Culture Care Diversity important in the delivery of nursing care for all patients?
  • Using Leininger’s Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality, develop a plan of care for Mrs. Franklin-Jones.
  • Discuss the strengths and limits to Leininger’s Theory.

Case Study #2

Claude Jean-Baptiste is recovering from post-hip replacement surgery and has been transferred to the Rehabilitation Institute adjacent to the hospital. When he enters the unit, he sees welcoming signs written in several languages including his own, Creole. Since there are no nurses on that shift that speak Creole, they use a language line to ask for translation services. During this initial nursing assessment, the translator informs Mr. Jean-Baptiste that the nurses invite him to have a relative at his side so that they can be sure to understand and meet his needs. He is asked about Haitian customs and beliefs that they might honor. Mr. Jean-Baptiste is encouraged to bring food and spiritual care items, and to share the warmth of his culture with the nursing staff.

  • Discuss assumptions of the Transpersonal Caring relationship. What is the nurse’s role?
  • How is love, as defined by Watson, evident in this caring moment?
  • How can the nurse creatively use self to create a healing environment?
  • Discuss the strengths and limits to Watson’s Theory.

Assignment Expectations:

Length: 1500 – 1750 words

Structure: Include a title page and reference page in APA format.

Statistics for Managers

QUESTION 1

Use this Excel spreadsheet to calculate your grade in   this class. It should include the weights of each       graded   assignment, your grade in each assignment, and your final grade. To use this for your benefit,      you   may want to design it so that it can be used to calculate your interim grade   before you have all the      grades. After this week, you will receive the   solution from your professor and you will be able to      use   your solution or our solution for future classes.                                      MGMT 650 Grade Calculator:

QUESTION 2

A   quality characteristic of interest for a rice-bag-filling process is the   weight of the rice in the individual bags. If the bags are under filled, the company may be in violation of the   truth-in-labeling laws. In this   example, the label weight on the package indicates that, on average, there   are 15 pounds of rice in a bag. If the   average amount of rice in a bag exceeds the label weight, the company is   giving away product. Getting an exact   amount of rice in a bag is problematic because of variation in the   temperature and humidity inside the factory, differences in the size of the   rice, and the extremely fast filling operation of the machine (approximately   150 bags a minute). The following   table provides the weight in pounds of a sample of 60 bags produced in one   hour by a single machine:
                15.1 15.3 15.2 14.6 14.8 15.2 15 15.2 15 15.4    15.7 14.8 15.4 15.5 14.9 14.9 14.9 15.3 15.5 15.4    15.1 14.7 15.1 14.6 14.7 15.2 15.4 15.4 14.5 15.5    15.1 14.8 14.9 14.6 14.6 15.4 15 15.3 15.5 14.9    15.2 15.2 15 15.1 14.7 14.7 15.1 15 14.8 14.8    15.15 15.16 15 15.2 15.14 15.01 15.07 15 15.12 15.1                              Find   all of the following answers using built-in Excel functions                   A) Median:                           Mean:                           B)   First quartile:                          Third   Quartile                                       C)   Range. Hint: Use two Excel functions to find the range.                    Interquartile   range. Hint: use two previously calculated numbers.                   Variance                           Standard   deviation                         Coefficient   of variation. Hint: This number is found using two previously calculated   numbers.

Parts   d and e are your chance to show your understanding.       You   are a consultant brought in by the company and given the sample.     What   are your recommendations to the company, based on your reading for this week?                          D. What are the measures   of central tendency for the sample?                                                                    Interpret the measures of central tendency within the context of   this problem. Should the company   producing the rice bags be concerned about the central tendency?                                                                                                                                            E. What are the measure   of variance for this sample?                                                                       Interpret the measures of   variation within the context of this problem. Should the company     producing the rice bags   be concerned about variation?

QUESTION 3

Built-In Excel Functions          Review   Excel help files (and other sources if you wish) and       explain   in your own words:                      A)   The difference between the functions: QUARTILE.INC()       and   QUARTILE.EXC().                                                                                                                                                                                          Which   of the two functions will you get if you use QUARTILE()?                                             B)   The difference between STDEV.S() and STDEV.P();       and   the difference between VAR.S() and VAR.P().                                                                                                                                                                    C)   The difference between the functions, MAX() and MAXA();      and   the difference between AVERAGE() and AVERAGEA()?                                                                                                                                                       D)   Give an example of when you would use the COUNT() function;      and   and example of when you would use the COUNTA() function.

QUESTION  4

               4. Frequency Distribution:              Here   is a hypothetical list of the number of caramel popcorn          cans   sold in 50 scout troops in Maryland. Use Excel’s            capability   (=FREQUENCY()) to create a frequency distribution           using 5 bins.                                Number of Caramel popcorn cans sold in each troop       170 105 103 105 148 158 121 130 118 157       159 147 132 100 115 192 158 196 149 140       176 199 174 107 179 183 129 194 119 150       198 171 120 151 163 108 184 134 186 175       180 114 107 107 165 137 184 200 189 103                       MIN   Use the =MIN() function   to find the lowest number of popcorn cans sold.     MAX   Use the =MAX() function   to find the highest number of popcorn cans sold.                     Subtract   the lowest number of cans sold from the highest number of cans sold:       The   range of number of cans sold is:                              Now   divide the range of the cans sold by 5 to find the size that each bin should   be                       Size   of bin is                                 Create   your bins:               Start   with the minimum number of cans sold and add the size of the bins.        Therefore,    plus   is the highest number   that the first bin should be.      The   =FREQUENCY() function uses the highest number of each bin when calculating   the number in each bin.    The   next bin highest number starts with the first bin’s highest number and adds   the size of the bins.     Therefore,   the second bin begins with    and adds the bin size   to get        Continue   adding to get the Bins array for the =FREQUENCY() function.         Follow   the instructions in the youtube videos to use the =FREQUENCY() array   function.       You   know that you have correctly used the =FREQUENCY() function if Excel   automatically puts {} around the function.                   Min   Bins:   Frequency:            Max

QUESTION 5

        5.   Use the frequency of the scout troop caramel popcorn cans sold data and   the         bins data from problem 4   to create:                          Number of Caramel popcorn cans sold in each troop      170 105 103 105 148 158 121 130 118 157      159 147 132 100 115 192 158 196 149 140      176 199 174 107 179 183 129 194 119 150      198 171 120 151 163 108 184 134 186 175      180 114 107 107 165 137 184 200 189 103                     A)   A histogram using the data analysis tool. Scrum Board

Assignment Content

  1. Projects that conform to the Agile methodology often use something called a scrum board. You can think of a scrum board as a digital whiteboard containing yellow “stickies,” each listing a task, posted beneath categories such as “to do,” “in process,” in testing,” etc. Using a scrum board in this way allows all project members to see where important tasks are in the overall project process quickly and easily.

For this Learning Team assignment, you will collaborate with your team members to create an Agile scrum board based on the Global Treps project from the Wk 2 Team assignment (see below).

Note that in an industry situation, you would most likely use a specialized software tool to manage your scrum board such as Jira, Rally, Asana, or Basecamp. However, in this course, you will be using a tool that you may already be familiar with—Microsoft Excel—to create your scrum board and other deliverables. It is the organization and assignment of tasks that is important about a scrum board, not the specific software tool you use to create and manage it.

To complete this Learning Team assignment:

Reread the Global Treps Scenario that you read in the Wk 2 Team – Apply assignment.

Review the Learning Team Scrum Board Example spreadsheet. (Note: Click the Board tab that appears at the bottom of the spreadsheet to see the scrum board example.)

Create a scrum board in Microsoft Excel format, similar to the linked example, to align with the project scoping document your team created in Wk 2. Ensure that your finished scrum board incorporates a project budget.

    Submit the team assignment.

Benchmark Assignment – Spiritual Needs Assessment and Reflection

This assignment requires you to interview one person and requires an analysis of your interview experience.

Part I: Interview

Select a patient, a family member, or a friend to interview. Be sure to focus on the interviewee’s experience as a patient, regardless of whom you choose to interview.

Review The Joint Commission resource found in topic materials, which provides some guidelines for creating spiritual assessment tools for evaluating the spiritual needs of patients. Using this resource and any other guidelines/examples that you can find, create your own tool for assessing the spiritual needs of patients.

Your spiritual needs assessment survey must include a minimum of five questions that can be answered during the interview. During the interview, document the interviewee’s responses.

The transcript should include the questions asked and the answers provided. Be sure to record the responses during the interview by taking detailed notes. Omit specific names and other personal information through which the interviewee can be determined.

Part II: Analysis

Write a 500-750 word analysis of your interview experience. Be sure to exclude specific names and other personal information from the interview. Instead, provide demographics such as sex, age, ethnicity, and religion. Include the following in your response:

  1. What went well?
  2. Were there any barriers or challenges that inhibited your ability to complete the assessment tool? How would you address these in the future or change your assessment to better address these challenges?
  3. How can this tool assist you in providing appropriate interventions to meet the needs of your patient?
  4. Did you discover that illness and stress amplified the spiritual concern and needs of your interviewee? Explain your answer with examples.

Submit both the transcript of the interview and the analysis of your results. This should be submitted as one document. The interview transcript does not figure into the word count.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide,

  • Explain the ways in which the findings from the study or experiment you selected are relevant today or are no longer relevant today.  In your explanation, try to avoid opinion only; instead, conduct web research to include relevant statistics or a more recent study that replicated the findings of the study or experiment you selected.
  • Include the links from your sources.

Business Communication – Informational Interview

Interview a person who currently holds a career that you would like to hold within about three to five years after graduation. (Maybe you’d like to be the CEO of Disney, but I’m talking about a career position that you could reasonably expect to hold within that time frame.) The interview should last around 45 minutes. The objectives of this assignment are:

1.            To give you insight into the position.

2.            To develop your interviewing and self-presentation skills.

3.            To gain experience writing an executive summary.

This is not an employment interview; so do not ask for a job. Present yourself as a student conducting research regarding future career possibilities. This should be a face-to-face OR online interview, preferably in your subject’s workplace. If the only person who has your dream job is in NY, go for something comparable to your dream job.

Please follow these steps for this assignment:

1.            Conduct your own research regarding a career and potential companies that interest you. Gather basic information such as a job description, salary, level and type of education required for the position, and specific information regarding the company of interest. Use this information to formulate interview questions. Write up the information you’ve gathered in an annotated bibliography to be turned in to me along with your executive summary. You should use a minimum of three sources, such as newspaper articles, industry blogs, and company web sites. Do note, however, that any information from a company website counts as one source, regardless of how many links within it you’ve clicked.

2.            Contact an individual in the position of your choice and ask if they could give you about 45 minutes of their time. Do not interview someone you already know (relatives, friends and their companies are not acceptable for this assignment; do not interview someone in a place you’ve already worked yourself). If your mother’s best friend owns her own public relations company and you’ve never had the chance to ask her about it, you’ll definitely want to talk with her sometime—just not for this assignment.

3.            Formulate your interview questions (check Google for ideas) and re-confirm your interview two days before by telephone or email.

4.            During the interview, behave professionally. Dress appropriately, in business attire (as appropriate for the industry) if in-person, if online, speak clearly, audibly and ensure that your camera is functioning properly. Introduce yourself, your purpose and your goals for the interview (“My goal for this interview is to learn what it’s like to work in such a position and what the requirements are to be hired in a job like yours”). Explain that you have a number of questions to ask and that you would like to take notes, if the interviewee does not object. Listen carefully, paraphrase responses, and ask for clarification when you do not understand. After finishing your questions, ask your interviewee if there is anything else they would like to tell you. Be conscious of the time you’ve used and do not go over, unless they indicate they wish to continue. Thank them for their time.

5.            Get the interviewee’s business card or e-contact information before you leave the interview so you can include it when you hand in your assignment. (If the person does not have a business card, ask for an appropriate substitute, such as a piece of company letterhead.)

6.            As soon as possible after the interview, write a thank-you note and mail or email it to your interviewee. Be sure this brief letter is grammatically correct and error free! In your letter, do not use the clichéd phrase, “Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule.”

7.            Write a two-page executive summary about your interview. This report is a professional document in style and content which includes summaries on the following topics:

a.  Description of the industry/product/service

b.  Description of the position

c.  Requirements for the position (education, experience, skills)

d.  General summary of what you learned, including your own thoughts and reactions

e.  Attach your annotated bibliography to the executive summary.

7. Be prepared to give a brief informative presentation regarding your interview. Your total “Interview Package” will consist of:

•  5 to 10 slides and should include extensive notes for each slide.

•  Executive Summary (in memo format, addressed to me, Darren Hurst).

•  Photocopy/Email copy of your thank-you note.

•  Photocopy/Ecopy of the business card of your interviewee (if they do not have a business card, please get a piece of letterhead or a brochure at the very least).

•  Annotated bibliography from your pre-interview research in proper reference format (APA style).
