Memo for Reserach Paper

Introduction For the remainder of this course, you will work with a topic of your own choosing. With this topic, you will: (1) complete academic research to investigate the issue, (2) compose a formal, academic research paper to an academic audience, and (3) craft a blog entry to a non-academic audience. This work will span the remainder of the course.First, though, you will propose your topic in a memo to your instructor.
Since you will be working with a topic for the rest of the course, please choose a topic wisely. Choose something that you feel passionately about. Choose something you can invest yourself in. Your topic must be academic in nature (so not an argument that Coke is better than Pepsi), and it needs to be researchable. This must also be a debatable topic, so you should see at least two clear sides to the issue.Examples:1. Immigration
2. Gun Control (Select an aspect of gun control you want to address)
3. Legalizing Marijuana
4. Homosexual Marriages
5. School Uniforms
6. Death Sentence
7. Violent Video Games
8. Social Media (Face book, Snap Chat, Twitter, Instagram, and so on)
9. Socialism
10. Dating Websites
Additionally, you should choose something you can work with in a 4-5 page argument, so do not try to tackle ALL of gun control, abortion, global warming, or social media. Those are highly complex topics that would need narrowing for this task. I encourage you to survey credible news outlets to seek ideas for relevant, debatable topics.
The Assignment  Your memo will be four paragraphs:
Paragraph One: Identify your topic and why it is relevant in today’s culture. Paragraph Two: Discuss your personal connection to the topic, including any potential biases or obstacles.Paragraph Three: Discuss what information you need to gather about this topic in order to make a logical, effective argument.Paragraph Four: Identify the opposition to your argument and discuss how you might convince someone who opposes you. Resources

Discussion: Memory Distortions

Consider eyewitness testimony, a facet of the judicial system that relies on the soundness of memory for its effectiveness. The following story demonstrates the grave consequences inherent in certain kinds of memory distortion.

In the days following Jennifer Thompson’s 1984 rape by an unknown assailant, law enforcement officials presented her with a “photographic lineup.” It was composed of local individuals who loosely fit Thompson’s description, including one man the police considered a likely suspect in the attack. Police and the prosecution relied on Thompson’s eyewitness testimony as a critical building block in the case against Ronald Cotton. Thompson’s memory-based selection of Cotton’s image eventually brought him to trial as a defendant.

Jennifer Thompson’s eyewitness testimony led to the conviction of Ronald Cotton for rape. Thompson described memorizing the details of her attacker’s appearance that fateful night so that she might later help to catch him. Based on Thompson’s testimony, the prosecution won, and Cotton received a sentence of life plus 54 years in prison.

After serving nearly 11 years, Cotton was exonerated on the basis of DNA evidence. In the years since Cotton’s release from prison, he and Thompson have reconciled. They now travel together throughout the United States, speaking about the lack of reliability of eyewitness testimony in criminal cases. Unreliable eyewitness accounts of crimes serve as one example of memory distortion. Consider factors in the Cotton case that may have affected the accuracy of Thompson’s memory.

In this Discussion, you examine factors that might influence and create distortions of memory. You also explain the potential consequences of memory distortion on eyewitness testimony.

 With these thoughts in mind:

Post a brief description of factors that might influence and create distortions of memory. Then explain how one of those factors might create a memory distortion. Provide an example to support your response. Finally, explain three consequences of memory distortion in the context of eyewitness testimony. Justify your response using the Learning Resources and current literature.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.

Entrepreneurial Initiative

Week 5 Discussion HUM1002

Overdue – Last Fri at 12:59 AM

By the due date assigned, respond to the assigned discussion questions and submit your responses to the appropriate Discussion Area. Start reviewing and responding to your classmates as early in the week as possible.

Question 1: The Painting of Modern Life

The late nineteenth century is often cited as a critical point in the development of “modern” art. Impressionists and Post-Impressionists turned to the contemporary world as the primary subject matter and depicted elements of that world using an innovative style.

Carefully examine the following paintings:

  • Monet, Rouen Cathedral: The Portal (In Sun), 1894
  • Manet, Bar at the Folies-Bergère, 1881-82
  • Seurat, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, c. 1884-86

In 3 well-developed paragraphs, address the following questions:

  1. How is the subject of each painting representative of Impressionism or Post-Impressionism?
  2. How are the style and visual characteristics of each painting representative of Impressionism or Post-Impressionism? Be sure to discuss specific elements such as brushwork/application of paint, use of color and light, and composition, in your response.
  3. Describe the specific ways that each painting shows tension between its inherent two-dimensionality and any illusion of three-dimensionality created by the artist.

Question 2:

Modern and Contemporary Art may seem alien to many people— seemingly without content, message, or purpose. But it can be argued that Modern and Contemporary Art visually reflect the complex and abstract ideas that we experience every day. Although not for everyone, art of the 20th and 21st centuries is often a key part of the collection in many art museums. As you consider the wide range of modern and contemporary art types that we studied this week, think of yourself actually visiting a modern art museum. In 2 well-developed paragraphs discuss:

  1. While you are visiting, what type of Modern or Contemporary art will you most want to see and why? Be sure to name the specific style (e.g., Analytic Cubism, Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism)
  2. What type will you put last on your list of “things to look for?”
  3. Why do you feel that way?

Be sure to explain your ideas clearly and support them by discussing specific works of art that you have read about this week, talking about how they illustrate and support your ideas. Include the images of these specific works of art in your response.

Respond to both questions as thoroughly as possible, making sure to use information from the readings and the lectures. All responses should be in complete sentence form, using proper spelling and grammar.

As soon as possible, review and comment on the work of two of your peers. In your comments, consider areas you would suggest for expansion or clarification.

Fix this Homework

I NEED FIX SOMES RECOMMENDATIONS THAT THE PROFESSOR MAKE ME:

1-  Please go through the material in the Prepare & Explore modules of this week’s information. Finally, please read the required information about Systematic Reviews & Meta Analysis in your Polit & Beck textbook. I really think this will help you better understand what is needed.

2-Once you do this, you will need to locate a Systematic Review study that is associated with the National Health Topic/Problem you chose during Week 1(My practice problem is Obesity in Children from 0-5 years).

3-Only one article of this study type is needed.

These are the orientation for this homework.

Please do this part first:

Select one of the eight practice problems that burden the overall health of the United States. Conduct a library search for one systematic review (without meta-analysis; with meta-analysis; meta-synthesis) addressing this problem. Appraise the systematic review using the Johns Hopkins Research Evidence Appraisal Tool. My practice problem is Obesity in Children from 0-5 years.

Please Answer each questions separated and use at least 3 sources no later than 5 years

Analyze the evidence summary of the selected quantitative research study to address the following.

1-Does the research design answer the research question? Explain your rationale.

2-Were the study sample participants representative? Why or why not?

3-Compare and contrast the study limitations in this study.

4-Based on this evidence summary, would you consider this quantitative research study as support for your selected practice problem? Explain your rationale.

Second Part

After appraising and determining the Level of Evidence and Grade of Quality for your selected systematic review, summarize your findings. Transfer your findings to the ORIGINAL Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool. Complete each column including specific details about the systematic review.

I Attached the ORIGINAL Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool to complete. Please complete The first and second week with the third week IN THE ORIGINAL Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool to complete THAT I attached. I NEED TO FIX THE DISCUSSION BOARD TOO. PLEASE TAKE CARE ABOUT THIS HOMEWORK.

Remember I need that you send me the permalink in PDF.

BUS340. WRITING ASSIGNMENT: IRAC #2

Use a newspaper, news magazine, or the internet (including articles posted on Canvas by instructor) to find a current article (if uncertain, please see the instructor to have your topic approved) related to business law to write about.  Briefly summarize your article and include some interesting facts or highlights. Lastly, and most importantly, discuss any concerns, issues, or thoughts you have about the subject matter raised in the article. This will be done by writing an IRAC (Issue, Rule, Analysis, Conclusion) about the article.

Topics for this IRAC include any one of these subjects: Torts or Agency

IRAC Basics:

Summary – write a brief summary of the article or case (no more than one (1) page.  Four things to remember when writing a summary:

  • use your words and phrases, not the author’s
  • use key points only…no minute details.
  • represent the material accurately and fairly
  • cite your source!!!!!!!!

Issue(s) – are written in the form of questions!  These issues are questions one might ask regarding how the law applies to the article you have chosen.

Rules – are the laws/rules that the writer thinks may apply to the issues.

Analysis – is where the writer either proves or disproves the application of the rules to the issue question.  This is THE major focus of the paper….critical thinking must be applied.

Conclusion – will take one of two approaches.  First, if the court has decided the case, do you agree with the decision?  Why, or why not?  If the court has yet to make a decision, what do you think needs to be done, and why. Please note that the conclusion to this paper is different than with the Mini IRAC format.

There is no minimum or limitation to the length of the paper.  The writer’s approach is to be concise, organized, and complete in the presentation of the case. If you need any further clarification of this assignment, please make an appointment to see me during office hours.

Be sure to attach the news article/court case to your essay. If the article/case is not attached a score will not be given. The attachment can be in the form of a link to a web page.

PICO 11

PICO and Literature Search

Remember we only need PICO for this class

Purpose: PICO questions are used by practicing nurses and researchers to focus research questions and develop an efficient literature search strategy.  It is essential that future nurses learn how to do this to develop evidenced-based solutions to patient care problems in a healthcare organization.

Assessment:  This assignment is worth 68 points.  It is graded according to the embedded rubric in this submission folder.

Instructions:

1. Write a PICO question based on a scenario you choose from the list of scenarios attached below.  Use the templates in the EBP Step by Step 3 article to help create your questions. You may need to do a pre-search to finding an intervention (the “I”) that has been studied and published to solve the problem.

2. Identify the PICO elements for each question.

3. Develop a search strategy using at least 3 keywords from the P, I, and O parts of your PICO, 1 synonym for one of the keywords, and 1 MeSH term for one of your keywords.

4. Locate 4 articles that help answer your PICO question.  The articles must meet the following requirements:

o must be primary source quantitative research articles.

o No article can be published prior to 2016.

5. Obtain pdfs of the four articles you selected and attach it for submission.  They must show the full text of the entire article.

6. On a Word document, include your scenario; write your PICO question as a sentence; identify the P, I, C, and O for each question; and list the search terms (3 keywords, 1 synonym, 1 MeSH term) for each. You may use the template attached here. See also the link to the MeSH terms website below.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/

7. Provide a properly formatted APA reference page for your selected articles from Step 4 of these instructions.
