Introduction For the remainder of this course, you will work with a topic of your own choosing. With this topic, you will: (1) complete academic research to investigate the issue, (2) compose a formal, academic research paper to an academic audience, and (3) craft a blog entry to a non-academic audience. This work will span the remainder of the course.First, though, you will propose your topic in a memo to your instructor. 
Since you will be working with a topic for the rest of the course, please choose a topic wisely. Choose something that you feel passionately about. Choose something you can invest yourself in. Your topic must be academic in nature (so not an argument that Coke is better than Pepsi), and it needs to be researchable. This must also be a debatable topic, so you should see at least two clear sides to the issue.Examples:1. Immigration
2. Gun Control (Select an aspect of gun control you want to address)
3. Legalizing Marijuana
4. Homosexual Marriages
5. School Uniforms
6. Death Sentence
7. Violent Video Games
8. Social Media (Face book, Snap Chat, Twitter, Instagram, and so on)

10. Dating Websites
Additionally, you should choose something you can work with in a 4-5 page argument, so do not try to tackle ALL of gun control, abortion, global warming, or social media. Those are highly complex topics that would need narrowing for this task. I encourage you to survey credible news outlets to seek ideas for relevant, debatable topics. 
The Assignment  Your memo will be four paragraphs:

Projects beyond financial and operational sustainability must also serve society and include the five Ps (people, planet, profits, peace, and prosperity). · You are a recognized global consulting agency with extensive work in this area of expertise or a very enthusiastic and creative entrepreneur.  

· You also need to include a procedure to help your client work with your implementations after you finish your contract with the company or provide an exact timeline on how you intend to start and consolidate your new entrepreneurial venture 

· You need to close your presentation with a clear and conclusive set of arguments for your client to hire you to implement what you are suggesting or for your investors to join you in launching your initiative.

Question 1: The Painting of Modern Life

The late nineteenth century is often cited as a critical point in the development of “modern” art. Impressionists and Post-Impressionists turned to the contemporary world as the primary subject matter and depicted elements of that world using an innovative style.

Carefully examine the following paintings:

• Monet, Rouen Cathedral: The Portal (In Sun), 1894
• Manet, Bar at the Folies-Bergère, 1881-82
• Seurat, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, c. 1884-86

In 3 well-developed paragraphs, address the following questions:

1. How is the subject of each painting representative of Impressionism or Post-Impressionism?
2. How are the style and visual characteristics of each painting representative of Impressionism or Post-Impressionism? Be sure to discuss specific elements such as brushwork/application of paint, use of color and light, and composition, in your response.

Question 2:

Modern and Contemporary Art may seem alien to many people— seemingly without content, message, or purpose. But it can be argued that Modern and Contemporary Art visually reflect the complex and abstract ideas that we experience every day. Although not for everyone, art of the 20th and 21st centuries is often a key part of the collection in many art museums. As you consider the wide range of modern and contemporary art types that we studied this week, think of yourself actually visiting a modern art museum. In 2 well-developed paragraphs discuss:

1. While you are visiting, what type of Modern or Contemporary art will you most want to see and why? Be sure to name the specific style (e.g., Analytic Cubism, Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism)
2. What type will you put last on your list of “things to look for?”
3. Why do you feel that way?

Be sure to explain your ideas clearly and support them by discussing specific works of art that you have read about this week, talking about how they illustrate and support your ideas. Include the images of these specific works of art in your response.

1. Initial Project Proposal
   Overview
   This is the first of three assignments that, as a whole, will cover all aspects of the project life cycle relevant to your selected project.
   Assume you have been selected to be the project manager for a project of your choice. The project that you use must meet the key criteria of a project. It must:
   1. Have a beginning and an end.
   2. Result in something being delivered to someone.
   3. Require a series of activities that must be done to complete the project.
   4. Require resources (for example, people and materials) to complete the work.
   5. The project can be one of a personal or professional nature and must last for at least nine months.
      Note: You are prohibited from using projects that can found on the Internet, including projects found in places such as CourseHero. All project submissions are submitted to SafeAssign for review.
      Requirements
      Write a 3–4 page paper in which you define the scope of your chosen project:
   • Provide a brief summary of your chosen project.
   • Describe at least two project goals and two project objectives.
   • Describe the project management structure that you will use to manage the project. Will you manage it via the existing functional structure of the organization, set up a projectized/dedicated project team, or use a matrix management structure? If you will use a matrix structure, which type will you use?
   • Identify the key customer (or customers) and at least two stakeholders for your project. Discuss their roles and their impact on the project. Remember that although you are delivering the project to your customer, there are others (stakeholders) who also have a vested interest in your project.
   • This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
     The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:
   • Draft a project plan that includes goals and objectives, recommended structure, and stakeholders for a successful project.

Use a newspaper, news magazine, or the internet (including articles posted on Canvas by instructor) to find a current article (if uncertain, please see the instructor to have your topic approved) related to business law to write about.  Briefly summarize your article and include some interesting facts or highlights. Lastly, and most importantly, discuss any concerns, issues, or thoughts you have about the subject matter raised in the article. This will be done by writing an IRAC (Issue, Rule, Analysis, Conclusion) about the article.

Topics for this IRAC include any one of these subjects: Torts or Agency

IRAC Basics:

Summary – write a brief summary of the article or case (no more than one (1) page.  Four things to remember when writing a summary:

• use your words and phrases, not the author’s
• use key points only…no minute details.
• represent the material accurately and fairly
• cite your source!!!!!!!!

Issue(s) – are written in the form of questions!  These issues are questions one might ask regarding how the law applies to the article you have chosen.

Rules – are the laws/rules that the writer thinks may apply to the issues.

Analysis – is where the writer either proves or disproves the application of the rules to the issue question.  This is THE major focus of the paper….critical thinking must be applied.

Conclusion – will take one of two approaches.  First, if the court has decided the case, do you agree with the decision?  Why, or why not?  If the court has yet to make a decision, what do you think needs to be done, and why. Please note that the conclusion to this paper is different than with the Mini IRAC format.

There is no minimum or limitation to the length of the paper.  The writer’s approach is to be concise, organized, and complete in the presentation of the case. If you need any further clarification of this assignment, please make an appointment to see me during office hours.

Be sure to attach the news article/court case to your essay. If the article/case is not attached a score will not be given. The attachment can be in the form of a link to a web page.
