Health assessent

  • Review the Skin Conditions document provided in this week’s Learning Resources, and select one condition to closely examine for this Lab Assignment.
  • Consider the abnormal physical characteristics you observe in the graphic you selected. How would you describe the characteristics using clinical terminologies?
  • Explore different conditions that could be the cause of the skin abnormalities in the graphics you selected.
  • Consider which of the conditions is most likely to be the correct diagnosis, and why.
  • Search the Walden library for one evidence-based practice, peer-reviewed article based on the skin condition you chose for this Lab Assignment.
  • Review the Comprehensive SOAP Exemplar found in this week’s Learning Resources to guide you as you prepare your SOAP note.
  • Download the SOAP Template found in this week’s Learning Resources, and use this template to complete this Lab Assignment.

The Lab Assignment

  • Choose one skin condition graphic (identify by number in your Chief Complaint) to document your assignment in the SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) note format rather than the traditional narrative style. Refer to Chapter 2 of the Sullivan text and the Comprehensive SOAP Template in this week’s Learning Resources for guidance. Remember that not all comprehensive SOAP data are included in every patient case.
  • Use clinical terminologies to explain the physical characteristics featured in the graphic. Formulate a differential diagnosis of three to five possible conditions for the skin graphic that you chose. Determine which is most likely to be the correct diagnosis and explain your reasoning using at least three different references, one reference from current evidence-based literature from your search and two different references from this week’s Learning Resources.

Global Econ Unit 4 Individual project

One of the more important measures in regard to international economics is the balance of payments. Think of it as a national accounting measure that looks at the flow of goods and services into and out of an economy in a given period of time. It also shows capital flows into and out of a country. Until 1980, the United States tended to run a positive-to-neutral balance of payments position and was a creditor nation. In the course of the past 30 years, the United States has moved to a negative balance of payments and to being a debtor nation.

Review and discuss the following:

  • Discuss the importance of the balance of payments as an accounting measure.
  • Discuss the current account and its components and the capital and financial accounts and their components.
  • How important is the U.S. deficit in traded goods in regard to the balance of payments?

Some form of entertainment is a part of every event. Hiring the most appropriate entertainment (including speakers) for your event can make the difference between your attendees being either engaged or bored. Speakers are often used to link the event’s theme to enhance the environment and encourage interaction. This important component of planning can be a delicate balancing act, as the entertainment must be suitable for the event, integrate the theme, and delight the audience.

Topic: Contracting the Singer and MC

You have hired a singer for an alternative energy convention. The singer signed a contract for a 2-hour performance. You are worried that based on her reputation, she will shorten this performance to 1 and a half hours, saying she has a sore throat, when you have heard from other event planners that she usually books back-to-back performances in the same town on the same night.

Use the problem-solving steps:

  • Define the problem and contributing factors, criteria for a solution, and a plan of action.
  • In your plan of action, include how you will approach it without impugning the performer’s ethics.
  • You also need to find a master of ceremonies (MC) for this 3-day convention. What will be your criteria for hiring this MC?

Professor Question, Civil Liberties due by tomrrow 11:59

1.  When rights to safety and security seem to conflict with fundamental civil
liberties, how should we decide which to value more?

2.  Should elected officials do what the majority desires? Or should they do
what they think is best, even if it is highly unpopular?

3.  Should the time, place, and manner of speech matter when deciding whether
   the speech is constitutionally protected?

4.  Did you attend a public school where you had bible readings, prayers, religious assemblies, or other religious acts? Who organized these activities? Were you ever in a school choir or band that performed religious music? Did you ever have a coach who prayed before games or suggested you join the Fellow ship of Christian Athletes? Was there a prayer at your high school commencement? If any of these occurred in your school, how did you feel about them? Did it ever occur to you that your principal or teachers might be violating a Supreme Court ruling? Is it ever acceptable for someone to violate the Law? Under what conditions? What would happen if everyone decided he or she could choose what laws to obey?

5.  How much free speech do you think we should allow in the United States?
Would you allow a white racist to give a speech on this campus? A member of a freemen’s militia? A neo-Nazi? A black racist?

6.  Most of the democratic countries of the world have abolished capital punishment why do you think the United States still uses execution? If other countries had our crime rate, do you think they would want capital punishment? List arguments for and against capital punishment. Should we draw the line according to age or severity of crime?

   for you?

11. How does the USA Patriot Act raise questions about the balance between public safety and civil liberties? If you had to emphasize one goal more than the other, which would you emphasize? Why?

12.  What are civil liberties? How are they different from civil rights?

13.  Why have most of the advances in civil rights come through the federal courts and not through our legislatures. What does that say about our democratic system? Which would you rather have: judges who believe in judicial restraint when it comes to civil rights, or judges who are activist?

Week 4 Discussion – HUM1002

Week 4 DiscussionDiscussion Topic Task: Reply to this topic Due May 21 at 12:59 AM

By the due date assigned, respond to the assigned discussion questions and submit your responses to the appropriate Discussion Area. Start reviewing and responding to your classmates as early in the week as possible.

Question 1: Art of the Americas

This week, we studied a vast array of cultural objects produced in North, South, and Central America prior to 1492. Select one object from each of the following cultures: Aztec, Inca, and North (Native) American.

First, identify each object, including its name, date, medium, and location/geographical region of origin.

Then, in a minimum of 2 well-developed paragraphs, address the following questions for each object:

  1. What are the unique and specific visual characteristics of the object? How are these visual characteristics typical of the time and place in which the object was created?
  2. How does meaning or function of the object reflect the culture in which it was produced?

Question 2: Neoclassicism, Romanticism, and Realism

Beginning in the 19th century, artistic movements carry the suffix “-ism” to their name. Originally derived from Ancient Greek, “-isms” is appended to a word that then reflects a philosophical concept. In the case of art, it comes to mean the philosophy or approach to art that binds a group of artists together.

Select one representative example from each of the following “-isms” studied this week: Neoclassicism, Romanticism, and Realism. In 3 well-developed paragraphs, discuss:

  1. What is the philosophy or approach to art that is defined by the –ism.
  2. What are the specific visual characteristics of your example that are representative of the overall style of the –ism?
  3. How does the specific subject of your selected work reflect the philosophy of the –ism?

Be sure to explain your ideas clearly and support them by discussing specific works of art that you have read about this week, talking about how they illustrate and support your ideas.

probabilities responses

Provide (2) 200 words response with a minimum of 1 APA references for RESPONSES 1 AND 2 below. Responses may include direct questions. In your peer posts, compare the probabilities that you found with those of your classmates. Were they higher/lower and why? In your responses, refer to the specific data from your classmates’ posts. Make sure you include your data set in your initial post as well. Attached are the excel docs for both responses.

RESPONSE 1:

For this weeks forum I determined that my average price for the SUV’s that I selected was $49,903.60. Out of the 10 vehicles that I chose 6 of the cars were less than the average of all the cars price giving me a probability of p=.60 and a q=.40. When I calculated the probability of 10 randomly selected cars that exactly 4 of them will fall below my average I got 11%. When I calculated the probability that fewer than 5 of them would fall below the average I got slightly over 16%. Next, I calculated the probability that more than 6 of them would fall below my average and got 38%. What was interesting is that when I calculated the probability that at least 4 cars would fall below the average of my vehicles I got 94.5%. I think that this is a good exercise to learn in being able to speak to the likelihood that a car dealer will likely have the vehicle a customer is looking for based on the customer’s price point. If the dealer knows their averages they can also make suggestions and marketing assumptions that they have a good probability that a customer will find a vehicle of their choice within their price range using the information we covered in this weeks lesson. The formulas based on the pdf were explained at the bottom of the attached spreadsheet.

RESPONSE 2:

The average of my vehicles came out to $16,593. Half of the car’s prices fell below the average which made my probability success and failure 0.5. Both p=0.5 and q=0.5.

Average = $16,593

5 of my vehicles fall below the average

P= 5/10

P or Success = 0.5

Q = 1-p

Q = 1-0.5

Q or Failure = 0.5

In another random sample using the same data, the probability that exactly 4 cars would fall below the average is 21%.

In another random sample using the same data, the probability that fewer than 5 vehicles would fall below the average is 62%.

In another random sample using the same data, the probability that more than 6 vehicles will fall below the average is 17%.

In another random sample using the same data, the probability that at least 4 vehicles will fall below the average is 83%.

The results did not particularly surprise me. Since my probability was 0.5 is made it easier to simply look at the numbers and make a guess. The result that probably surprised me the most was how little the probability for exactly 4 vehicles falling below the average was. But then again, anytime you see the word “exactly” I would imagine a lower probability. Another extremely helpful pdf for this exercise. It was easy to follow and helped me understand the material more clearly.

Leadership – Milestone 5

Context: In the discussion this week you researched the management of your company and assessed whether you felt the team in general had a transactional or transformational leadership style. In your milestone submission this week you will build on that foundation of research and further assess the leadership styles in your company.

First, be sure you have read Chapter 11 in the text.

Next, please watch the following video clips from the lab:

·  Chapter 11: Concept Clip: Consideration Structure

·  Chapter 11: Concept Clip: Fiedler’s Contingency Model

Requirements: There are a wide variety of definitions of what makes a person a true leader. There are also a wide variety of leadership styles beyond the simple classification of transactional versus transformational; autocratic, democratic, bureaucratic, charismatic, situational, servant leadership, and more. Some are, in theory, at least mildly effective in any given situation, and some, in theory, are far more effective only in certain situations. In other words, it’s likely that one size does not fit all. You’ve begun to research your company’s leadership team. In your milestone submission, compile a more comprehensive look at the leadership team and the approach they use.

Your fourth milestone submission should address the following requirements:

1.  Outline the leadership style of at least three areas of your organization (three key leaders, leaders of three key divisions, the CEO, the board, the finance team, the operations team, etc. – it doesn’t matter what three you choose but you must outline at least three).

2.  Describe the leadership style of at least one of your company’s largest competitors.

3.  Assess your company’s leadership team as compared to other styles and the competition.

a.  Is the leadership style in use by your organization the most appropriate?

b.  Is the leadership style consistent within your company from one area to another?  Should it be? Why or why not?

c.  How does the leadership style of your organization compare to its competitor? Is one better than the other?  Why or why not?

Your third milestone submission should follow APA format, be well supported with a minimum of five recent sources, and be a minimum of four pages long.

Remember: Think critically about the team that leads your organization, how well their leadership style is working, if it’s most appropriate for that company, that industry, their type of employees, and given the current economic environment.  Just like last week, there are a lot of factors at play that impact whether or not a given leadership style is effective.  One size does not fit all, and not all the time.

E-business and Technology

There are many types of business suited for doing business online. Those types of businesses give customers the convenience of instantly purchasing what they are looking for without having to head out to a store. Another good thing about online businesses is that they require much less risk than investing dollars in a brick-and-mortar store or office. With some basic website and communication skills along with a little maintenance know-how, almost anyone can launch a business online and get it up and running in only days.

Online Business Idea

For this project you are going to write a five (5) page proposal for a new online business.

  • Describe the online business
  • Discuss the problem your business is trying to solve
  • Identify your target market and the customer profile
  • Compare your idea to the competitors
  • Examine what makes your internet solution different than your competitor
  • Explain to your potential investors the effectiveness of this online idea.

Submit your Five (5) page proposal in APA format with at least 3 references. Please note that title page and reference page do not count as part of the five (5) page total.

Here is a guide to help you jumpstart the project

  • 1 Title page (remember the running heading should be abbreviated and all caps) – This proposal does not require an abstract.
  • 3 paragraphs describing the online business
  • 2 paragraphs discussing the problem your business is trying to solve
  • 3 paragraphs identifying your target market and the customer profile
  • 2 paragraphs comparing your idea to the competitors
  • 2 paragraphs examining what makes your online solution different than your competitor
  • 2 paragraphs concluding your presentation convincing your investors the effectiveness of this online idea.
  • Reference page

Discussion 2: Children Coping With Grief and Loss

“Why isn’t daddy the same? He used to play with me before he left. Now he’s angry all the time and he ignores me. I miss him.”

“My mom has a blast injury. She doesn’t remember things as much anymore and she lost her arm. We all try and help her now. It scares me to look at her arm.”

“We were all watching television, me, my mom, and my brothers when the doorbell rang. It was two marines in uniform. I heard mom start to scream. I knew dad was never coming home. I was cold and scared. How come my hero isn’t coming home?”

How do you begin to help a child to cope with grief and loss related to military service?

Even though children may be aware that death is a possibility, what might a child think and feel and how might that child behave when dealing with the loss of a parent?

For this Discussion, review this week’s resources, and consider the answers to those questions.

By Day 4

Post two common reactions of children dealing with loss of a parent. Through the lens of your specialization, what considerations might you need to keep in mind as you provide support for children coping with grief and loss? Recommend one strategy for children coping with grief and loss of a military parent. Provide a scholarly resource to support your recommendation.
