Quantitative Article

 Topic: Financial sector

You will review both quantitative and qualitative research.  The topic is up to you as long as you choose a peer-reviewed, academic research piece.  I suggest choosing a topic that is at least in the same family as your expected dissertation topic so that you can start viewing what is out there. There are no hard word counts or page requirements as long as you cover the basic guidelines.  You must submit original work, however,  and a paper that returns as a large percentage of copy/paste to other sources will not be accepted.  (Safe Assign will be used to track/monitor your submission for plagiarism.)

Please use APA formatting and include the following information:

  • Introduction/Background:  Provide context for the research article.  What led the author(s) to write the piece? What key concepts were explored? Were there weaknesses in prior research that led the author to the current hypothesis or research question?
  • Methodology:  Describe how the data was gathered and analyzed.  What research questions or hypotheses were the researcher trying to explore? What statistical analysis was used?
  • Study Findings and Results:  What were the major findings from the study? Were there any limitations?
  • Conclusions:  Evaluate the article in terms of significance, research methods, readability and the implications of the results.  Does the piece lead into further study? Are there different methods you would have chosen based on what you read? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the article in terms of statistical analysis and application? (This is where a large part of the rubric is covered.)

Article 2

Article Reviews

You will write a 2 page review/abstract/summary on an article from a peer reviewed scholarly journal. This is to assess your ability to select and summarize the research of others, analyze and apply the research of others, and communicate professionally and effectively to their regard. However, the most important rationale for this assignment is for you to see how statistical analysis is presented.

Instructions:

1. Use the library system (https://www.ucumberlands.edu/library) or online catalog to locate a journal article that pertains to your research, thesis, or area of interest. The article you chose should have performed some statistical analysis of gathered data and made an inference using something other than just the average (mean). That is, they can’t just talk about averages; they must have used one of these tests: t-test, chi-square, F-test, Fischer test, ANOVA, MANOVA, ANCOVA, Mann-Whitney, correlation, regression.

2. Read the article thoroughly.

3. Write a 2-page summary about the article following the given guidelines. Guidelines: 1.

Your review should include:

a. The question/problem being researched by the author

b. The experiment that will answer the question

c. How they collected data

d. Analysis of the data (Must identify the statistical test used)

e. Their conclusion or findings

 2. Your review can be single spaced or double spaced in at least 11 pt font.

3. You should make a bibliography to list the article you chose and practice APA format. NOTE: The APA Guidelines address specifically how the reference page is title and how articles are provided! Note: It is not called Bibliography.

4. Graphs or visual representations are not needed for this assignment.

5. A title page is not required, but you may include one if you want to practice APA style. If you have a title page, your submission is 4 pages. If you do not  have a title page, your submission is 3 pages. Do not go over. There are points associated with following the directions.

 6. Your grade on these assignments will be based on the rubric below.

FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES.

INR Discussion 2

Week 2 Discussion

1.Through the lens of Hannah Arendt, why did she take issue with the way in which Eichmann was tried? Should Israel have pursued Nazi SS-Obersturmbannführer in the manner that they did?

150 words response.

student responses examples.

Hannah Arendt, as a jewish German, had issues in the way that Eichmann was tried for his actions in the genocide of the jews due to the mentality of the people at that time, resulting in actions unprecedented from a precedented mindset. In the video “Arednt Final Speech”, Hannah stated that “understanding someone is different that forgiving,” and she ultimately agreed on the final verdict on Eichmann’s trial that had him condemned to death. Arednt did not believe that the history of anti-semitism in Germany could be tried. Her issue was from all of the history that had people (minorities) robbed from their own rights with no “positive law”, while at the same time being someone under the rule of a dictatorship would have easily brought a horrible event on mankind due to the lack of mankind. Just look at how many wars, genocides, robbing that was happening during that century and the one before. Humanity had led itself to that point. Also, there are studies that show that naturally when someone is in a position of power (being a police officer, president, etc), someone that is under that control will do anything you tell them whether it is against their morals or not. Eichmann, under the control of Hitler at the time, was not going to say no but even worse was that he saw nothing wrong with proceeding in the horrible actions committed. Now, about what happened to Eichmann being pursed by Israel, I believe, for the most part, Hannah Arednt is saying that it was okay how the situation was handled. The only thing that she wishes had happened, was for Israel to understand the actions of the person and what led to them, rather than the atrocity that was placed upon on the people.

Answer the following questions. If the answer isn’t in the video or article, you should use your notes from class, including the lecture video, and outside sources, such as Wikipedia. Please cite all your sources using the citation method of your choice. I don’t care which citation style you use, I just want to be able to look up your sources. Some of the answers will only require a short answer, while other questions will require longer and more detailed answers.

Your grade is based on how well you answer the questions, including how well you provide supporting details to back up what you’re saying, if you correctly cited your sources, and how well written your answer was, including correct spelling.

Wk 4 Discussion

Answer the following the question on internal control measures and fraud based off reading Chapter 7 in our textbook.

Background: Accounting scandals and fraud, both in the United States and internationally, have re-ignited the debate over the current laws, regulation and accounting principles. The relative merits of GAAP, which takes a “rules-based” approach to accounting, versus IFRS, which takes a “principles-based” approach have been under scrutiny. In the last couple of years, the FASB announced that it intends to introduce more principles-based standards to improve general accounting principles and practices.

Discussion Question:

Organizations have internal control measures to detect fraud. In additions, organizations are subjected to required reporting of financial information to external entities. With that in mind, answer the following items in your initial discussion response:

  1. Discuss the three factors identified in our textbook that contribute to fraudulent activity.
  2. Define fraud and discuss one strategy in health care to prevent financial fraud.
  3. Identify a real-world example of an organization that has committed fraud. What happened and what were the legal ramifications?

Make sure your initial response contains 175- to 265-words.

APA Formatting: Use citations where appropriate and list references. All citations and references, if used, must be in APA format. Only 15% of the content can be source material. If you write in your own words, only the reference is required.

week 2 6020 er

Enterprise X wants to become more relevant to the global marketplace. As a Corporate Information Systems Management expert, you understand the role that IT Infrastructure plays in an internetworking environment. The problem is getting the decision makers at Enterprise X to understand what the technical requirements are for participation in the global marketplace. Business managers with a vision of the future for their company do not always know what is required to realize that vision. You, however, know that in order to make the necessary strategic shifts you are recommending, it will also be necessary to align the company’s corporate strategy with a new IS/IT strategy.

An effective way to communicate the IS/IT requirements for this major strategic shift is to describe how Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) can impact IT Infrastructure and how adopting SOA can enable Enterprise X with the IS/IT capabilities to enter the global marketplace. Research SOA and explain how business processes built into individual packages that can operate independently will make the IS/IT capabilities of Enterprise X more flexible for aligning a new corporate strategy with its IT Infrastructure.

(Note: You may also want to find relevant case studies on SOA and SOI [Service Oriented Infrastructure] vendor Web sites.) To submit your assignment:

  • Use Microsoft Word to write a 500- to 750-word Position Paper that describes your findings and recommendations.
  • You may include diagrams and illustrations to enhance and/or clarify technical issues. Remember that you will draw from this Position Paper to prepare your PowerPoint presentation.
  • Follow APA guidelines to write the report and cite your sources as appropriate.
  • Save the report as SU_MIS6020_W2_lastname_firstinitial.docx and submit it to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.

Part B. Presentation Component: IS/IT Capabilities

You have already researched pertinent issues and prepared a Position Paper that will guide you in presenting your proposed corporate strategy for Enterprise X. Now you must also prepare a new part of your strategy proposal where you will present your proposed IT Infrastructure based on SOA. Extract the more important technical issues from the Position Paper that you completed to create your PowerPoint presentation component for this week.

Keep in mind that each week you will work on a new aspect of your Final Project Presentation and, combined, these weekly presentations will become your Final Project proposal due in Week 5. Your Final Project Presentation will be published to the class in Week 5 for reflections and comments. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation with five to ten charts covering the aspects of your strategy described above.

Save your presentation as: SU_MIS6020_W2_Lastname_Firstinitial.pptx and submit it to the Submissions  Area along with your Position Paper by the due date assigned.

Business Intelligence Final Project

Project: Find a process within a business that you feel can help that business gain a competitive advantage.

Create a word document that contains at least the following:

Start by introducing the project:
* Explain the process you will be reviewing and want to modify.
* Explain the business and industry where this process exists.
* Give an overview of the current process and how it works.

Based on the materials within the Business Intelligence course, explain a new technology that should be deployed.
* Be very specific.  Note the exact technology as well as the specific application of that technology (i.e. technology might be Smart Automation – while the specific application might be light dimming technology).
* Identify the pros and cons of the new technology.
* Identify how the new technology would impact the business/industry and the process that was selected to be modified.

What are the various factors the business should consider before deploying the new technology.
* Are their cost considerations.
* What other projects are impacted or might impact the deployment.
* What are 5 to 10 things the business should consider before implementing and explain how important it would be to use the new technology (i.e. use some type of scale-like ‘Critical’ vs ‘High Priority’ vs … vs ‘Good to have’).

The project must be at least 3 pages in length, double-spaced, 12-font (APA Format).  This total length does not include the APA approved cover page and the reference page(s).  There must be at least 3 APA approved references, with citations, to support the work.

Question1

  • You are nearing the end of a long week in your community mental health outpatient counseling practice when your supervisor asks you to squeeze in an intake with an unexpected new client who walked in without an appointment. You go to the waiting room and greet a young man, Jasce, who is clearly anxious and distressed. Upon closing the door to your office, Jasce looks down at the floor and quickly blurts out that he was diagnosed yesterday by his psychiatric medical provider as having Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). He tells you he was up all night searching the internet for information on BPD and now he feels worse than he did before he received this diagnosis. He said he tried counseling when he was a teenager immediately following a brief hospitalization for an overdose attempt, and he tried counseling again last year when he turned 21 and suicidal thoughts began returning. He mumbles that he only went to a couple of sessions both times because the counselors didn’t “get him.” He raises his head and looks you directly in the eyes with what looks like something between desperation and hopelessness and asks you quietly, “Can you help me?” What do you do and say in response? Use your own words as if you are speaking directly to Jasce. In addition to sharing what you would say in your initial response, please also continue this brief “live” script of how you would explain DBT to this vulnerable individual.
  • Describe a turning point in Marsha Linehan’s session with her suicidal client where you feel the client began to consider other choices or new perspectives on his situation. Describe what Marsha said or did to elicit this shift and how the client responded. Name and briefly explain which aspect of DBT Marsha was using at this moment.
  • Now return to your clinical practice client, and share with us how DBT could be used to provide treatment for your client’s primary identified issue and goals. Be specific in describing which aspect of DBT you feel would be most helpful and why. Please include a sample dialogue from a DBT interaction/session with your client as part of your response to this question.
  • Close your post with a brief critical assessment of DBT. Discuss what you feel is relevant and helpful, what you see as it’s limitations or risks, and how you would rate this approach in relation to strengths-based and culturally sensitive and trauma-informed practice.

Present the Findings about Organization and Theory Evaluation/Power Point Assignment

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation in which you describe two or three leadership theories in the 21st century and contrast them with two or three pre-millennial leadership approaches. Also, prepare an abbreviated description of the organization you chose to study and outline why you chose that particular organization. Include the organizational structure and the role of your leader POC in the organization. Describe the qualitative and data analytics assessment techniques you chose to include in your consultant’s toolkit. Illustrate the results of your organizational assessment and explain the area(s) you selected for improvement, including the results of your assessment as rationale for selection of the area(s) for improvement. Assess the effectiveness of the implementation of the improvements you recommended, as well as the effectiveness of the leadership approach demonstrated by your leader POC.

Transition from the focus on the organization to you as an individual leader and explain your preferred 21st century leadership theory.  Demonstrate the techniques you can employ to ensure your continued development as a leader in both professional and personal situations.

Support your presentation with a minimum of five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.

Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate reference slide)
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide
