Homework Discussion Post (min of 300 words)

 The Assignment:

Comment on similarities and/or differences between a stochastic population regression function (PRF) and a stochastic sample regression function (SRF).

Respond to at least two of your classmates’ postings.

Tips & Hints:

You receive credit for answering the assignment.  You will not get credit for repeating definitions.

It is obvious from the terminology that the key difference in the terms being discussed is that one is regarding the population and the other is regarding the sample.  It is upon the similarities and differences of these regression functions that your post wants to focus.  You don’t want to focus on the letters or symbols involved or the error terms.  Saying that one is of the population but the other is of the sample is merely a start but not sufficiently insightful or detailed.   You are not asked to define these terms or repeat definitions from the text; you are asked to explain how these are, in significant ways, different and how they are similar.

You want to look more deeply at the similarities and differences because one of these is the function that is “really” out there and one of these is the function that you will be capable of measuring.  These are important to understand and there are  numerous important and practical distinctions that are the consequences of the regression being run upon a sample or upon the population.

In the case of Discussion 1, you need to:
1)  Comment on similarities between a stochastic population regression function and a stochastic sample regression function.
2)  Comment on differences between a stochastic population regression function and a stochastic sample regression function.
3)  Respond to at least two of your classmates.

What characteristics would lead a provider to suspect domestic violence, child abuse, or elder abuse is taking place within a family

 Topic 5 DQ 2

What characteristics would lead a provider to suspect domestic violence, child abuse, or elder abuse is taking place within a family? Discuss your facility’s procedure for reporting these types of abuse.

Violence and abuse is described as any intentional physical, mental, or psychological harm inflicted on a vulnerable person. This includes punching, berating, screaming, and other types of intentional cruelty. Domestic violence also involves threats or mild verbal or physical attacks, and victims seek to comply with the abuser’s demands. Victims feel trapped, reliant, helpless, and powerless. They can experience depression as a result of being stuck in the abuser’s power and control loop. As a victim’s self-esteem deteriorates as a result of prolonged abuse, he or she will blame themselves for the violence and be unable to see a way out of the situation. Neglect is described as any deliberate or unintentional lack of concern for someone’s well-being, such as failing to meet a dependent’s basic needs. Child abuse, child neglect, dependent adult abuse, dependent adult neglect, and domestic violence are all examples of abuse and neglect

If a family member shows apparent signs of bruising, malnutrition, depression, extreme fear, extortion, or other similar factors, a mandatory leader can suspect violence or neglect. However, this list is little and not an exhaustive, and other elements which exist. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, but mandatory reporters are expected to search for trends of concern and various indicators of problems; they are expected to ask questions if required and to report anything they believe, even if they are not 100 percent certain.

A instructor, for example, can suspect child abuse if a student is chronically underweight and seems desperate to eat all they can while at school. If a woman arrives at the emergency room with severe bruises and physical injuries that do not seem to match her reasons for the medical problems, a nurse may suspect domestic abuse. A mental health professional may suspect elder abuse if a senior citizen pays large sums of money to a single person or if a family member micromanages their finances.

A required reporter must be aware of the appropriate authority to which the alleged violence and neglect should be reported. In the case of child violence, each state has a department of child services (also known as social services) that should be contacted through the appropriate channels, such as hot lines. Domestic abuse should be reported to local law enforcement. Adult services agencies in each state deal with elder abuse and other forms of maltreatment of dependent adult.

Packet Tracer & Discussion 1 [43]

Instructions

Write 1 thread of at least 250 words. You must support your  assertions with at least 1 citation in current APA format. Acceptable  sources include Cisco material, the Bible, and scholarly journals. You  must also reply to the 2 threads below. Each reply must be at  least 100 words.

Topic: Hierarchal Topology

Question/Prompt: At your workplace or school,  research to determine 1–5 network devices in your hierarchal model.  Create a simple network topology using Packet Tracer software. Place 1–5  devices at the appropriate levels of the Cisco three-layer hierarchical  model design. The model must include:

  1. A labeled hierarchical model ( Access layer, distribution layer, and core layer);
  2. Labeled Type, vendor, and model of the devices (ie. Cisco 2911 series router) ; and
  3. 1 Simulated cloud, 1 PC per subnet to represent a subnet of devices.

If you are unable to do research at your workplace or school, or you  do not have one to research, then create your own hierarchical model.  Share your .pka in the Discussion Board Forum. Do you agree with the way  the network is designed? If so, explain why. If not, state 1 way to  improve the design and why you would make improvements.

From my understanding we are only a fraction of the pie. We do not  have full access of the network we fall under. The hierarchy can be  related to how the infantry is broken down to fire teams of 4. Yet in an  a platoon theres about 100 people which means theres about 20 fire  teams, creating 20 fire team leaders reporting to the Platoon Sgt who  then reports to the Platoon Commander and then he passes it to the  Company Commander etc. The purpose of having multiple bosses helps to  not overload the main boss with meaningless questions or information not  protaining to them. The way our network is design is to  mitigate unnecessary mistakes made on the network, only affecting us at  our level not disrupting the entire network enterprise.  It also brings a  sense of organization, structure, and management. If anyone has the  proper (AAA) Authorization, Authentication, and Access to be in our  domain to can be part of all broadcasting that may be informative to  them. Also file sharing and the access to the share drive on lower  networks can help not overload the pipeline to the higher echelon of the  network. If you don’t have any business with management or the boss  then just avoid it, communicate between those at your level and later  with the proper authorities your message Will make it to Mr.CEO. The  Hierarchical Model we use in the military could improve if there was a  way to communicate with everyone that shares your Military Occupational  Specialty, is the only improvement I would try to implement

  Importance of Redundancy

Since  I was not able to examine a network at school or work, I went to a  small business owned by a family member to see what kind of setup they  had. It turned out that only three employees worked there, so they only  had a very simple point-to-point architecture that consisted of a modem,  a router, and a switch (attached packet- “Office Hierarchy”). Because  of the limited budget and needs, I believe this basic setup fulfilled  their needs adequately. However, one of the downsides of this setup is  that each device is a single point of failure. A key factor of network  stability is implementing redundancy (Yeh & Fiondella, 2017). There  is no device redundancy on this network. As such, I decided I would make  a second diagram that implemented redundancy (“Three Tier Hierarchy”),  even though realistically it would not be possible to implement in the  business I examined. Another benefit that this setup provides is  additional scalability if the company were to hire more employees. In  its current state, this company only has one small switch, meaning the  amount of traffic that can flow through is extremely limited, and it  would be unwise to try to add a lot more users to this network. The  high-capacity switches used in the “Three Tier” diagram would allow more  users to easily connect in. Another way to identify that the smaller  network is not scalable is not only to see if its hardware exceeds its  userbase, but also to ask: If I were to expand my company, would I need  to raze my entire network design and start over? In this case, the  answer is yes—a significant size increase would mean that a fully  different scalable topology, such as a virtual bus, would need to be  created. The business could not function with its current topology. In  conclusion, because the business has not grown in size for fifty years  and is not planning to, I see no need for them to change anything;  however, I would advise them to place a high priority on keeping their  security up-to-date because of the vulnerability of the point-to-point  network.

Policy making letter

Policy-maker Letter

One of the overarching themes of Political Science 2 is the division of policy-making power among the various branches and levels of government.  Another is the importance of representation and having a government that reflects the will of the people.  This assignment requires you effectively demonstrate core competencies of critical thinking, communication, social responsibility, and personal responsibility within the context of civic engagement in the U.S. political process.

In this assignment, you will

  1. Identify a current political issue that affects you and your community.
  2. Educate yourself about the issue by reading at least three articles from reputable news sources about the issue.
  3. Determine which policy-maker is in the best position to represent your interests with respect to that issue. That could be your representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, your representative in a state legislature, or some member of the executive branch.  The key is that you identify a person who has some policy-making authority with respect to the issue you have chosen and a person who might listen to your position (for example, choosing your own representative to the U.S. House rather than some other representative).
  4. Draft a letter to your legislative or executive-branch policymaker in which you
    1. identify yourself as one of the politician’s constituents;
    2. identify the political issue about which you are concerned;
    3. clearly state a position on that issue (what should the policymaker do or not do); and
    4. provide an explanation for your position that will persuade the policymaker to agree with you.
  5. After you draft your letter and feel comfortable with both the content and format of your letter, submit the letter as the body of an e-mail addressed to your policymaker.

You will turn in

  1. a .doc, .docx, or .pdf version of your letter; and
  2. a .doc, .docx, or .pdf document listing the three articles you read.

Global Health Factors

In this assignment, you will explore the cultural context of a global health problem and consider how the structure of a health care system affects the way the problem is addressed.

Step 1: Identify a global health problem.
Choose ONE health problem that affects people around the world, and that is impacted by cultural practices. Find reliable statistics that support the global nature of this problem.

Step 2: Gather data.
Find scholarly sources, research and gather global data about the health problem you have identified. For example, the World Health Organization posts disease and health risk prevalence data on a country-by-country basis. Searching websites of humanitarian organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, Operation Smile, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation can provide additional context about the health problem.

Step 3: Create the slide presentation.
Address the following points in your 10-12 slide presentation:

Nursing perspectives of the problem

  • Describe the global impact of the health problem. Example topics could be comparing the impact across populations, communicable disease spread, environmental impacts
  • Describe the ways culture influences the risk factors, treatment and/or prognosis of the problem. Examples can be language barriers, food preparation, folk medicine usage etc. You may connect to one culture or multiple cultures in answering this prompt
  • Identify one or two cultural care strategies that nurses could use to improve the health problem

Health care system impact on the problem

  • Consider how the structure of a health care system affects the way the problem is addressed
    • Consider how the structure of a health care system affects the way the problem is addressed. Compare at least two countries with different health care systems- for example, you may discuss access to care, diagnostic and treatment options, public policies and economic considerations such as costs to the patient
    • Discuss any differences in health outcome statistics for the health problem between the two countries. Is there any evidence for why these differences or lack of differences occur?

Be sure to use statistics to substantiate the health problem. Make sure that you use APA format to properly cite any sources.

Step 4: Add presenter’s notes.
Include talking points and details in the notes area for each slide. These notes should document what you would say to an audience about each slide if you were to present in person.

Bussiness Statistics (responds)

Line graphs provide an excellent way to map independent and dependent variables that are both quantitative. When both variables are quantitative, the line segment that connects two points on the graph expresses a slope, which can be interpreted visually relative to the slope of other lines or expressed as a precise mathematical formula. Scatter plots are similar to line graphs in that they start with mapping quantitative data points. The difference is that with a scatter plot, the decision is made that the individual points should not be connected directly together with a line but, instead express a trend. This trend can be seen directly through the distribution of points or with the addition of a regression line. A statistical tool used to mathematically express a trend in the data.

Line graphs are like scatter plots in that they record individual data values as marks on the graph. The difference is that a line is created connecting each data point together. In this way, the local change from point to point can be seen. This is done when it is important to be able to see the local change between any to pairs of points. An overall trend can still be seen, but this trend is joined by the local trend between individual or small groups of points. Unlike scatter plots, the independent variable can be either scalar or ordinal. In the example above, Month could be thought of as either scalar or ordinal. The slope of the line segments are of interest, but we would probably not be generating mathematical formulas for individual segments.

Assignment 2: Practice

Week 7 – Evaluation Program Transcript

Social workers link clients to programs and agencies to help them attain certain goals. The evaluation process is a tool that ensures this link is strong and allows social workers to demonstrate accountability. Much in the same way, your field instructor will evaluate your day-to-day practice skills when working with clients to determine whether your interaction with clients has improved or whether you can identify successful programs that meet the needs of a vast clientele. You will prepare evaluation activities as well as read evaluative literature so that you develop skills to effectively deliver services to your future clients.
