Identifying and Evaluating Sources

For this discussion topic, you will post four sources that you consider possible sources for your research project. At least two of these should be scholarly journal articles.

For each source, please post your answers to the following:

  1. Provide an APA-style reference citation for the source. Remember that you can use CiteFast if you wish.
  2. What type of document is the source (journal article, news article, government document, etc.), and how can you tell?
  3. When considering the usefulness of this source for your research project, what positive and/or negative features can you identify? Factors you may wish to consider include focus, credibility, detail, and audience.
  4. Optional question: Feel free to comment on what search strategies you employed to find your sources.

Guided response (by Sunday):

Consider the sources posted by one of your peers. Would you consider all of the sources to be credible if you encountered them in a research paper? Would you give more weight to one over another? Why or why not?

Week 3, Discussion 2: Making Choices About Commas

In this discussion, we will examine choices that we make about commas in our writing.

Initial post (by Friday):

Post a paragraph from any writing you have done recently. Then identify one choice you made with regard to commas (either using a comma or not using a comma). Comment on the reasons for your choice. Are there other alternatives for

Business Proposal PowerPoint Presentation

The purpose of this assignment is to draft an internal business proposal presentation to share with organization personnel you would like to have sponsor or support you in the implementation of the problem solution you have suggested. You will do this by creating a PowerPoint presentation and filming yourself giving the presentation. You will post the filmed presentation to the YouTube website.

Review the stakeholder analysis you completed in Topic 3 to determine the key stakeholders that will make up the audience for this presentation. Focus on identifying decision makers that will have the power and resources to approve the implementation of the solution. These are typically your supervisors and key organization personnel.

Construct a 5-10 slide PowerPoint presentation that addresses the following. Include speaker notes for each slide.

  1. Problem and related research
  2. Proposed solution and related research
  3. Details for implementing the solution
  4. Details for evaluating the effectiveness of the solution

As part of the presentation, you must include slides that provide text along with visual representations of the data you have collected. The visuals should include the three graphs or charts that you created from the data collected in your research during Topic 2.

Refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.

Once the presentation is complete, you will film yourself pitching the idea to the stakeholder audience. It is important that you dress for success and practice your presentation prior to filming it. Assume you will be talking to organization leadership not as a student, but as a change maker within the organization. In the presentation, your job is to use the PowerPoint as a tool and visual reference while you present the problem, your proposed solution, and your plan for implementing the solution. The key to success is utilizing your research and presentation skills to clearly articulate the information to these key stakeholders while also identifying their specific call to action.

After you have practiced your presentation, record it, and post it to the YouTube website. Use the Topic Materials to adjust the privacy settings to ensure that only designated viewers can access your YouTube video. Submit the completed PowerPoint presentation and YouTube video link to your instructor for review and feedback.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are not required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.

A‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍n informal 1-2 page reflection paper exploring how the material of the first sessions of this class has been present for you at the level of the psyche during the month between sessions. The reflection paper can include dreams, synchronicities, active imaginations, or other response to the course material coming from the psyche – or, you can explore why you imagine that the psyche wasn’t activated for you. Alternatively, you can discuss readings or class discussions that stimulated your own inner exploration of your practice work. Feel free to include an image or a poem with your post. “The truth is stress that comes from work & school is when it’s the most difficult for me to activate my psyche. Biblical Principles 2

It Takes Courage to Make Business Virtuous

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6.  Imagine what it must be like to follow someone like Moses and be told to take the Promise Land, and it is going to be a fight. In the business world, we often come up with ethical dilemmas where we have to make virtuous decisions even if costly. That takes courage and strength.

In the DeVoe Report (Spring/Summer 2019, p. 26) in the article Building Virtue from the Ground Up, the authors explore “…how entrepreneurs fused virtuous business principles into the corporate culture of an entrepreneurial venture and the benefits and costs of doing so.” It takes a courageous individual to make business virtuous.

Reading these interviews reminded me of a story of a young manager of a bookstore. This was his first management job.  It was Christmas, and the store was selling a new Large Print Family Bible. It was one of their biggest sellers, and the company had spent a lot of money on marketing this special product. One day a customer had returned the Bible with little sticky notes on specific pages. He said that there were missing words. The young manager gave him back his money and notified the company of the defect. At first, there was no action taken on this knowledge.  When the young manager pressed the company that it was not right to sell this product in this condition, the company notified the publishing company that sold them the Bibles. They remedied the situation by sending words to be pasted into the blank spaces and the manager. The company wanted the manager to sell the Bible at full price with the words pasted in without comment. Again, the manager pressed the company that they needed, to be honest with their customers. The company decided to sell them at a deep discount and let customers know what happened with the words. They sold all the Bibles and learned a wise lesson about being honest with their customers even though it cost them money. Making business virtuous starts by doing the right thing and reminding the company of its values.

Share an experience where you were in a position or asked to compromise your values.

My Scenario:

when I was working as a medical doctor in India, I encountered a situation, where we are treating a patient who was sick and he was undergoing treatment. I monitored the patient daily, the patient went into a critical condition and we had to intubate him, when I informed the condition to their family, the patient’s family agreed to the intubation but were in a situation where they couldn’t afford it.

their healthcare plan doesn’t allow for the suggested treatment, the hospital management was so adamant and did not allow us to treat the patient, this a situation where I compromised my core values [compassion, patient service]. the family was able to get the funds on time, and we treated the patient and he was successfully cured.

Data Analysis and Quality Improvement Initiative Proposal

Prepare an 8-10 page data analysis and quality improvement initiative proposal based on a health issue of interest. Include internal and external benchmark data, evidence-based recommendations to improve health care quality and safety, and communication strategies to gain buy-in from all interprofessional team members responsible for implementing the initiative.
Health care providers are perpetually striving to improve care quality and patient safety. To accomplish enhanced care, outcomes need to be measured. Next, data measures must be validated. Measurement and validation of information support performance improvement. Health care providers must focus attention on evidence-based best practices to improve patient outcomes.
Health informatics, along with new and improved technologies and procedures, are at the core of all quality improvement initiatives. Data analysis begins with provider documentation, researched process improvement models, and recognized quality benchmarks. All of these items work together to improve patient outcomes. Professional nurses must be able to interpret and communicate dashboard information that displays critical care metrics and outcomes along with data collected from the care delivery process.
For this assessment, use your current role or assume a role you hope to have. You will develop a quality improvement (QI) initiative proposal based on a health issue of professional interest. To create this proposal, analyze a health care facility’s dashboard metrics and external benchmark data. Include evidence-based recommendations to improve health care quality and safety relating to your selected issue. Successful QI initiatives depend on the support of nursing staff and other members of the interprofessional team. As a result, a key aspect of your proposal will be the communication strategies you plan to use to get buy-in from these team members.
Demonstration of Proficiency
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the course competencies through the following assessment scoring guide criteria:

  • Competency 1: Plan quality improvement initiatives in response to adverse events and near-miss analyses.
    • Determine whether any adverse event or near-miss data needs to be factored in to outcomes and recommendations.
  • Competency 2: Plan quality improvement initiatives in response to routine data surveillance.
    • Develop a QI initiative proposal based on a selected health issue and supporting data analysis.
  • Competency 3: Evaluate quality improvement initiatives using sensitive and sound outcome measures.
    • Analyze data to identify a health care issue or area of concern.
  • Competency 4: Integrate interprofessional perspectives to lead quality improvements in patient safety, cost-effectiveness, and work-life quality.
    • Communicate QI initiative proposal based on input of the interdisciplinary team to improve patient safety and quality outcomes and work-life quality.
  • Competency 5: Apply effective communication strategies to promote quality improvement of interprofessional care.
    • Determine communication strategies to promote quality improvement of interprofessional care.
    • Communicate QI initiative proposal in a professional, effective manner, writing clearly and logically, with correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
    • Integrate relevant sources to support arguments, correctly formatting citations and references using APA style.
  • Preparation
To develop the QI initiative proposal required for this assessment, you must analyze a health care facility’s dashboard metrics. Choose Option 1 or 2 according to your ability to access dashboard metrics for a QI initiative proposal.
    Option 1
If you have access to dashboard metrics related to a QI initiative proposal of interest to you, complete the following:
  • Analyze data from the health care facility to identify a health care issue or area of concern. You will need access to reports and data related to care quality and patient safety. For example, in a hospital setting, you would contact the quality management department to obtain the needed data. It is your responsibility to determine the appropriate resource to provide the necessary data in your chosen health care setting. If you need help determining how to obtain the needed information, consult your faculty member for guidance.
  • Include in your proposal basic information about the health care setting, size, and specific type of care delivery related to the identified topic. Please abide by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance standards.
  • Option 2
If you do not have access to a dashboard or metrics related to a QI initiative proposal:
  • Use the hospital data set provided in Vila Health: Data Analysis. You will analyze data to identify a health care issue or area of concern.
  • Include in your proposal basic information about the health care setting, size, and specific type of care delivery related to the identified topic.
  • Instructions
Use your current role or assume a role you would like to have. Choose a quality improvement initiative of professional interest to you. Your current organization is probably working on quality improvement initiatives that can be evaluated, so consider starting there.
To develop your proposal you will:
  • Gather internal and external benchmark data on the subject of your quality improvement initiative proposal.
  • Analyze data you have collected.
  • Make evidence-based recommendations about how to improve health care quality and safety relating to your chosen issue.
  • Remember, your initiative’s success depends on the interprofessional team’s commitment to the QI initiative. Think carefully about these stakeholders and how you plan to include them in the process, as they will help you develop and implement ideas and sustain outcomes. Also, remember how important external stakeholders, such as patients and other health care delivery organizations, are to the process. As you are preparing this assessment, consider carefully the communication strategies you will employ to include the perspectives of all internal and external stakeholders in your proposal.
The following numbered points correspond to grading criteria in the scoring guide. The bullets below each grading criterion further delineate tasks to fulfill the assessment requirements. Be sure that your proposal addresses all of the content below. You may also want to read the scoring guide to better understand the performance levels related to each grading criterion.
  1. Analyze data to identify a health care issue or area of concern.
    • Identify the type of data you are analyzing from your institution or from the Vila Health activity.

    • Analyze the dashboard metrics. What else could the organization measure to enhance knowledge?
    • Present dashboard metrics related to the selected issue that are critical to evaluating outcomes.
    • Assess the institutional ability to sustain processes or outcomes.
    • Evaluate data quality and its implications for outcomes.
  2. Determine whether any adverse event or near-miss data needs to be factored in to outcomes and recommendations.
    • Examine the nursing process for variations or performance failures that could lead to an adverse event or near miss.
    • Identify trends, measures, and information needed to critically analyze specific outcomes.
    • Specify desired outcomes related to prevention of adverse events and near misses.
    • Analyze which metrics indicate future quality improvement opportunities.
  3. Develop a QI initiative proposal based on a selected health issue and supporting data analysis.
    • Determine benchmarks aligned to existing QI initiatives set by local, state, or federal health care policies or laws.
    • Identify any internal existing QI initiatives in your practice setting or organization related to the selected issue. Explain why they are insufficient.
    • Evaluate external national or international QI initiatives on the selected health issue with existing quality indicators from other facilities, government agencies, and nongovernmental bodies on quality improvement.
    • Define target areas for improvement and the processes to be modified to improve outcomes.
    • Propose evidence-based strategies to improve quality.
    • Analyze challenges that meeting prescribed benchmarks can pose for a health care organization and the interprofessional team.
  4. Communicate QI initiative proposal based on interdisciplinary team input to improve patient safety and quality outcomes and work-life quality.
    • Define interprofessional roles and responsibilities relating to data and the QI initiative.

Benchmark – Mathematics Unit Plan

A unit plan integrates multiple standards informing a mathematical concept and is taught in multiple lessons over several days. The large-scale planning process outlines activities that complement one another to ensure a successful learning experience for all students.

When planning units, educators must begin with the standards, learning targets/objectives, and summative assessment. Keeping the end learning goals in mind allows educators to plan the lessons to ensure students stay focused on what is important. Alignment between standards, learning objectives, instruction, and assessment provides a clear direction for both teachers and students. When students understand the goal of the lesson and all instruction, activities, and assessment are aligned, they are more likely to master the skill or concept.

For this assignment, use the “3-Day Unit Plan Template” to create a 3-day instructional unit plan and summative assessments designed for the students outlined in the “Class Profile” in the K-8 grade level of your choice. Use your state’s mathematics standards to select 1-3 math standards from one domain (number and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, or data analysis and probability) to represent and teach  in the unit. Complete the following when designing your unit:

· Clearly  integrate instruction and assessments so that standards, learning targets/objectives, learning activities, and assessments are all aligned

· Use a variety of teaching strategies and technologies that encourage the students’ development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills

· Create opportunities for active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the elementary classroom using effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques

State math standards : https://www.doe.virginia.gov/testing/sol/standards_docs/mathematics/index.shtml

· While APA style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Assignment Description

Project Background

Throughout this course, you will be working on several aspects of the implementation of an e-commerce Web site for an organization of your choosing, either real or imaginary. The work will focus on actual development work on an e-commerce prototype Web site.

Project Selection

The first step will be to select an organization as the target for your e-commerce implementation plan. This organization will be used as the basis for each of the assignments throughout the course and should conform to the following guidelines:

  • Nontrivial: The selected or invented organization should be substantial enough to allow for the reasonable expectation of e-commerce traffic and interest.
  • Domain knowledge: Choose a topic for your organization that is familiar enough to allow you to focus on the planning and development tasks without having to spend significant time learning more.
  • Accessibility: Your organization’s products will need to be visualized in a product catalog, so make sure that you can find images from a search engine that can represent what you plan to sell. You may use existing images; you do not have to make them yourself. For example, if you plan to sell cigars, many images of cigars are available online.
  • Relevance: Services and advisory type products (e.g., consulting services) may not be appropriate for this assignment. Physical products are recommended. If you are not sure, consult with your instructor and be prepared with alternatives. Motivation is important, but keep the focus on learning and experience.
  • Appropriateness: Aim your project toward a general audience. Professionalism is required

Note: You are permitted to select a company or organization that already exists. You will not be able to use existing code or layout, but you may use some branding elements (such as a logo) in your project, if you wish.

There is no documentation required for this assignment. However, you should write down your decisions and ideas so that you can refer to them in later units of this course.

Once you have decided on an organization and its products, it is time to create your application service provider (ASP) Web site.

Software Installation

To build the e-commerce project, you will need to download and install the following software:

Visual Studio 2019

Click the above link to open the installation instructions. You will need to install the ASP.NET module for ITSD325, as indicated in the instructions.

Once you have completed installation, watch the video lessons for Unit 1. These are listed in the Learning Activities for Unit 1. These lessons show how to create an ASP project and how to add some simple content to the page.

When you have completed viewing these lessons, create a project with the following parameters:

  • The project type must be an ASP.NET Web application using .NET Framework (not Core) and the C# programming language.
  • Use a single Web form named Home.aspx, not an HTML page.
    • Tip: To view a page in a browser window, right-click on it either in the editing window or in Solution Explorer, and then click “View in browser.”
  • In your own words, provide a message welcoming visitors to your e-commerce site, explaining briefly what the organization is and describing what products you plan to sell. Invite users to visit the catalog page and make a purchase.
  • Display at least 1 logo or image that is relevant to the topic of your site. This can be a logo for the organization, an image of a product you plan to sell, or something else that is related in some way. Although not required, you can quickly create your own logo at Design Iconic, Looka, or LogoMakr.

When you have finished creating this project, save it on your hard drive, and create a ZIP out of the folder it resides in.

Unit 1 Project Deliverables

Your deliverable for the Unit 1 Individual Project is a ZIP containing your first ASP project.

Please submit your assignment.

For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.

CLA 1 Paper – Advanced Statistical Concepts and Business Analytics

Comprehensive Learning Assessment 1 – CLO 1, CLO 2, CLO 3, CLO 4

In an article in the Journal of Retailing, Kumar, Kerwin, and Pereira noted factors affecting merger and acquisition activity in retailing. As part of the study, the authors compared the characteristics of “target firms” (firms targeted for acquisition) and “bidder firms” (firms attempting to make acquisitions). Among the variables studied in the comparison were earnings per share, debt-to-equity ratio, growth rate of sales, market share, and extent of diversification.

1. Let μ be the mean growth rate of sales for all target firms (firms that have been targeted for acquisition in the last five years and that have not bid on other firms), and assume growth rates are approximately normally distributed. Furthermore, suppose a random sample of 25 target firms yields a sample mean sales growth rate of 0.16 with a standard deviation of 0.12. Use critical values and this sample information to test H0: μ = .10 versus Ha: μ >.10 by setting α equal to .10, .05, .01, and .001. How much evidence is there that the mean growth rate of sales for target firms exceeds .10 (that is, exceeds 10 percent)?

2. Now let μ be the mean growth rate of sales for all firms that are bidders (firms that have bid to acquire at least one other firm in the last five years), and again assume growth rates are approximately normally distributed. Furthermore, suppose a random sample of 25 bidders yields a sample mean sales growth rate of 0.12 with a standard deviation of 0.09. Use critical values and this sample information to test H0: μ = .10 versus Ha: μ > .10 by setting α equal to .10, .05, .01, and .001. How much evidence is there that the mean growth rate of sales for bidders exceeds .10 (that is, exceeds 10 percent)?
