According to the authors, privacy and security go hand in hand; and hence, privacy cannot be protected without implementing proper security controls and technologies. Today, organizations must make not only reasonable efforts to offer protection of privacy of data, but also must go much further as privacy breaches are damaging to its customers, reputation, and potentially could put the company out of business.  As we continue learning from our various professional areas of practice, its no doubt that breaches have become an increasing concern to many businesses and their future operations.   

For this discussion, find an example of a security breach which compromised data records at a company in the same industry as you will be using in your final paper. Summarize the breach, discuss the data that was lost and identify security controls that you would recommend be in place (be certain to remember to cite sources) that could have prevented this breach from occurring. Remember to critical respond appropriately to two other leaners for full points.

Please make your initial post and two response posts substantive. A substantive post will do at least two of the following:

  • Ask an interesting, thoughtful question pertaining to the topic
  • Answer a question (in detail) posted by another student or the instructor

The research paper shall be a minimum of 8 pages and must follow current APA guidelines. The page count does not include the title page, abstract, or reference section. CASE STUDY: Active Labor: Susan Wong

Mrs. Wong, a first-time mother, is admitted to the birthing suite in early labor after spontaneous rupture of membranes at home. She is at 38 weeks of gestation with a history of abnormal alpha-fetoprotein levels at 16 weeks of pregnancy.

She was scheduled for ultrasonography to visualize the fetus to rule out an open spinal defect or Down syndrome, but never followed through. Mrs. Wong and her husband disagreed about what to do (keep or terminate the pregnancy) if the ultrasonography indicated a spinal problem, so they felt they did not want this information.

It can be easier to grasp the importance of the term mise-en-scène if we break it down into its component elements. Each one of these elements works to create meaning and tell the story. This week, you will look at the impact of lighting choices on the creation of meaning in a film.

In any film, the intensity and direction of lighting will influence how an image is perceived by the viewer, and it can establish or enforce particular themes. Think back over films you have watched and consider how the use of lighting in key scenes helped establish the theme or tone. Think about how lighting affects your perception of certain characters and moments. Consider how these uses of lighting work in shaping the story and its themes.

You initially discussed some career goals in Unit 1 and careers in Unit 9 of this course. Now you will examine differences in skills, considering a master’s and bachelor’s degree candidate versus an associate’s degree candidate for a position of your choice, and reflect on your goals.

In this assignment, you will begin your career search on the website of the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor and Statistics (www.bls.gov) for the degree that you will soon have earned. For business, for example, read about the occupations, reviewing the job summaries, entry-level education, and median pay.     Pastas R Us, Inc. is a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in noodle-based dishes, soups, and salads. Since its inception, the business development team has favored opening new restaurants in areas (within a 3-mile radius) that satisfy the following demographic conditions:

    • Median age between 25 – 45 years old
    • Household median income above national average
    • At least 15% college educated adult population
    • Last year, the marketing department rolled out a Loyalty Card strategy to increase sales. Under this program, customers present their Loyalty Card when paying for their orders and receive some free food after making 10 purchases.

      The company has collected data from its 74 restaurants to track important variables such as average sales per customer, year-on-year sales growth, sales per sq. ft., Loyalty Card usage as a percentage of sales, and others. A key metric of financial performance in the restaurant industry is annual sales per sq. ft.       Executive management wants to know whether the current expansion criteria can be improved. Directional and nondirectional hypotheses can be easily interchanged according to the hypothesis the researcher is testing. For instance, a drug company might predict that a drug will help a subject lose weight while another drug company might predict that a drug will alter a subject’s weight.

Describe a situation in which you would test a directional hypothesis. Be sure to state the independent variables (e.g., drug or placebo) and the dependent variables (e.g., weight loss) clearly and explain why the hypothesis is directional. Then, revise the same situation to make it nondirectional. Explain which according to you is more appropriate and why. Evaluate the practice of altering the alpha level so that a two-tailed test will have a 5% rejection region on both sides of the curve for a total of 10% instead of having a 2.5% rejection region on both sides in order to maintain a 5% alpha.

Justify your answers with appropriate reasoning and research from your textbook and course readings. Start reviewing and responding to at least two of your classmates as early in the week as possible. You can ask technical questions or respond generally to the overall experience.
