Capturing, Analyzing, and Ethical Reporting of Assessment Results Measuring student achievement for the purpose of certifying development is often considered a primary purpose of the assessment of student learning, but enhancing program effectiveness is of equal importance. “Closing the Loop” refers to the final step in the assessment process and leads to program improvement with the intent of enhancing the future learning experience. While “closing the loop” might seem to be a natural outcome given the cyclical nature of the evaluation process, advancing the process from a reporting system to an agent for improvement might be something of a challenge for some academic programs. “Closing the assessment loop” may very well require a paradigm shift as faculty must be receptive to results that might suggest students have not achieved the desired outcomes. For this Discussion, please share the approach that you will take to “close the loop” in the assessment plan that you have been developing for your Assessment Planning Portfolio. Specifically, please address the following items: Review the purpose for the assessments included in your plan. What questions are to be answered? What type of results will you have? How will the data be analyzed? How will you summarize the results? What benchmarks or standards have you set for a target student performance? Who are the intended audiences that will receive the results, and how will you report the findings back to them? Will your approach to reporting the results be the same for all audiences, such as administrators, faculty, and employers alike? In what other decisions, if any, will these stakeholders be invited to participate? Address the preservation of ethical standards associated with assessment and consider areas involved in the assessment protocol, including informed consent, confidentiality, proper maintenance and handling of data, appropriate use of results, and (of course) factual reporting. If the results are not favorable, how might you constructively communicate this back to the stakeholders? What areas might be considered for change?

Astronomy 5a

The outer planets are sometime collectively called the “gas giants.” That name is perhaps a bit misleading, given how we think of gas in earth-based situations. However, the most abundant gas in the solar nebula – hydrogen – is certainly the primary ingredient of all four Jovian planets. In a 2-3 paragraph essay, outline some of the major differences among the Jovian planets. Describe the process of gas capture that helped to build them, and use it as a basis to explain these differences.

Learning Different Cultural Systems

For this discussion post, you will discuss and analyze an experience you had learning (and adjusting to) a new culture. Specifically, please respond to the following prompts: 1.) Identify and briefly explain your experience entering a new culture.  Did you move to a new city, state, or country?  Did you visit or travel to a different part of the country or the world? Keep in mind that we experience new cultures all the time without traveling far or moving somewhere new. Starting a new job involves learning the organization’s culture and the organization’s norms, values, and ways of behaving (we’ll discuss this more in Module 10). Coming to college represents another cultural change; for many, transitioning from high school to college is quite an adjustment and requires learning a whole new set of norms and values.    2.) Next, describe what it was like to adjust to this new culture. Consider the following: Did you experience any culture shock?  Were there any social norms in this new culture that were interesting to you or surprised you? In what ways was this new culture similar to and/or different from your own culture (or the culture you were most familiar with)?

Music Homework Questions……Due Today 9 Hours….

Answer the following questions…… no cover page or reference page needed…… no super long answers needed     . What role does recording technology advancements play in furthering artistic vision? Use three examples of different albums and artists.   Album Oriented Radio (AOR) represents a major shift in strategy for rock music in general. In spite of this focus on “big album” sales, some of the most popular rock music of the 70’s comes during this time period, including albums like Rumours, Hotel California, and artists such as Queen, Rush, Heart, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seeger, Boston, Foreigner, Kansas, ELO and Journey. What is your position on the involvement of corporations in art? Elaborate. Does it affect your opinion of these artists or music?     New Wave” becomes the “next big thing” from a music industry’s point of view. How does a musical style remain fresh and cutting-edge once it has become visible to the public at large? Use more recent styles as examples.   The English punk scene develops out of social upheaval. Groups such as The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Jam, and Siouxsie and the Banshees all come from these circumstances. What distinguishes them from each other? What is their common thread? Is there an underground movement today that represents the current turmoil?     The three major technological advancements in music transmission have been radio, MTV, and the Internet. Compare and contrast all three with examples of the strengths and weaknesses of each.     The wide range of music created during the 1980’s shows both a revival of earlier styles and a move forward with new music. Considering bands/artists as diverse as R.E.M., The Smiths, U2, Squeeze, Cyndi Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, The Stray Cats, Hall and Oats, The Cure, and Genesis, is this era as significant to the development of rock music as the early 1970’s were? Why?     British metal and L.A. metal both enjoy success during the 1980’s.  How do they differ in approach?  Are there similarities?  Give examples of both styles for support.
