400-600 words APA 6 format, 2 cited sources- more can be used if needed. Provide sources used.

As a health care manager, you will be involved in strategic management. Discuss the following in regard to this:

  • Does strategic management involve long-term or short-term activities?
  • Describe how strategic management helps your facility control the future.

*NOTES FROM PROFFESOR*

While the first question may seem more “yes or no” in nature, it is also a point that you can expand upon using the knowledge from this course.  The Learning Materials in Unit 3 have a specific section dedicated to strategic management that might be helpful in expanding upon this first prompt.  Identifying examples of both long term and short terms strategic activities can also demonstrate knowledge of the subject area.

For the second prompt, you can also consult the course materials.  Feel free to bring in real-life examples or references from outside of your course materials to support your ideas.  For instance, as a manager I can say that strategic management has helped me in many ways control the trajectory of my department and my employees in the context of a larger organization.  Being involved in a strategic management plan helps me grow my department, budget for the future, and inform and train my personnel.  When you are responding to peers, reflect on what their experiences might be with strategic management and looks for both similarities and differences to your own experience and those you have read about in the course materials. Strategic management is concept that is not seen just in healthcare; it used across the entire business world to help manage and grow companies for the future.  Even not-for-profits use them to help define their missions, goals, and vision for the future.

The best possible answers will address the questions thoughtfully, using  evidence from the readings and taking into consideration the  WebCampus/Canvas discussions.  Be certain that your answers are essay  length (roughly three double-spaced pages – that’s about 750 words each) and supported by lots of specific evidence and examples from the text;  don’t take anything for granted. (These are “essays” not research  papers, so it is not necessary to use formal citations or list your  references at the end, but if you quote or paraphrase within the body of  the essay, be sure to name your source within your text.)  Be certain your answers are clearly NUMBERED, and also be sure you double space between answers.

1. Dante “built” his version of hell utilizing rather equal measures of  Roman Catholic doctrine and his own personal perspective regarding the  guilt or innocence of the people he put there (his personal perspective  seems sometimes rather vindictive).  Pick one character who seems to be  in hell for reasons the Catholic church of that time would approve, and  one or two who seem to be there simply because Dante was “getting  even.”  Explain how this is so in each case using details from the poem  as well as from whatever historical sources you wish to utilize.

2.2. We know by now that lyric poems are likely to have many  characteristics in common with one another whenever and wherever they  have been written. Certainly, the conditions of life in imperial China  must have been in many ways quite different from the circumstances of  life in Sappho’s Greece, or in the Nile Valley of the Egyptian love  poems. Contrast their poetic styles, temperaments, subject  matter, and general attitudes in a way that shows that you understand  how it is that these poets are all lyric (not heroic) poets and yet  quite different from one another in their personal concerns and poetic  practices.3. We’ve discussed them extensively in class and on WebCampus, so  now, which of the heroes (epic, or tragic) we’ve read about (Gilgamesh,  Odysseus, Oedipus, Jesus, Rama, Kumagai, Roland or Atsumori, Lanval,  Beowulf, Sir Gawain, Hamlet) comes closest to our contemporary concept  of “heroic?”  This answer will require you to define what you and your  contemporaries consider “heroic,” if anything, as well as to detail the  ways in which the character you’ve chosen measures up to that definition  and the ways some of the others fail to measure up.  Many very clever  people have claimed that we live in an anti-heroic age (not believing in  heroes any more at all.)

About the Affordable Care Act

1 postsRe: Topic 4 DQ 2

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was put into effect in 2010, it is also referred to as Obama Care. The goal was to make insurance more accessible to those who were previously unable to afford insurance coverage. The ACA prevented insurance companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, and it changed the age a child to stay on their parents plan to 26, it also removed benefit limits on insurance, and made preventative care at no cost service to the patient.

The most important role is to provide coverage for all citizens. It allows people to obtain care and not have high out-of-pocket costs. It promotes primary prevention through preventative care. The system also rewards people for having health coverage. Patients are rewarded through tax breaks for providing proof of coverage each year, and physicians are rewarded for meeting goals in patient care.

As a nurse it is our responsibility to make sure patients are properly educated on the services available to them. We can promote primary prevention, through education. We must advocate and provide them the knowledge to make appropriate health decisions and to take initiative of their own care to prevent any unnecessary medical expenses.

Using 200-300 words APA format with references to support the discussion.

What are the most important elements of the Affordable Care Act in relation to community and public health? What is the role of the nurse in implementing this law?

Discussion: Review of Current Healthcare Issues

If you were to ask 10 people what they believe to be the most significant issue facing healthcare today, you might get 10 different answers. Escalating costs? Regulation? Technology disruption?

These and many other topics are worthy of discussion. Not surprisingly, much has been said in the research, within the profession, and in the news about these topics. Whether they are issues of finance, quality, workload, or outcomes, there is no shortage of changes to be addressed.

In this Discussion, you examine a national healthcare issue and consider how that issue may impact your work setting. You also analyze how your organization has responded to this issue.

To Prepare:

Review the Resources and select one current national healthcare issue/stressor to focus on.

Reflect on the current national healthcare issue/stressor you selected and think about how this issue/stressor may be addressed in your work setting.

By Day 3 of Week 1

Post a description of the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected for analysis, and explain how the healthcare issue/stressor may impact your work setting. Then, describe how your health system work setting has responded to the healthcare issue/stressor, including a description of what changes may have been implemented. Be specific and provide examples.

By Day 6 of Week 1

Respond to at least two of your colleagues on two different days who chose a different national healthcare issue/stressor than you selected. Explain how their chosen national healthcare issue/stressor may also impact your work setting and what (if anything) is being done to address the national healthcare issue/stressor.

Psychology Assignment

Physical development, especially in infancy and toddlerhood but also into middle and late childhood, is primarily focused on the development of fine and gross motor skills. But the milestones and activities for each age group are very different. In adolescence, the fine and gross motor skills have been mostly developed, and the focus is about strength and skill building as well as dealing with the effects of puberty.

For example,

  • Coloring or playing with clay would not be an appropriate activity for an infant to improve fine motor skills, but it would be for the early childhood room.
  • In middle and late childhood, children are developing the muscle mass to greatly improve their abilities to run and jump and play organized games, which would not be appropriate for infants or toddlers.

There are many websites aimed at both parents and educators that describe activities to promote physical development. The activities you select do not have to be complex, but they do need to be age appropriate and grounded in developmental milestones. Focus on the primary developmental tasks of each age period. For each of the three activities, write a paragraph that addresses the following:

  • Describe the age appropriate activity in some detail (provide more than just the name of the activity).
  • Identify developmental milestones which supports the use of this activity (Table 5.1 in your textbook will be useful here).
  • Identify how the activity supports physical development for that age group.

The Physical Development Activities paper

  • Must be two to three double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the University of Arizona Global Campus Writing Center’s APA Style (Links to an external site.)
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted

Must utilize academic voice. See the Academic Voice (Links to an external site.) resource for additional guidance.

  • Must include an introduction and conclusion paragraph. Your introduction paragraph needs to end with a clear thesis statement that indicates the purpose of your paper.

  • Must use at least one credible source in addition to the course text.
  • Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style.

Case Study

Instructions: Read the following case study and answer the reflective questions. Please provide  rationales for your answers. Make sure to provide citations/references for your answers in APA  format.

CASE STUDY: Active Labor: Susan Wong Mrs. Wong, a first-time mother, is admitted to the birthing suite in early labor after spontaneous rupture  of membranes at home. She is at 38 weeks of gestation with a history of abnormal alpha-fetoprotein  levels at 16 weeks of pregnancy.  She was scheduled for ultrasonography to visualize the fetus to rule out an open spinal defect or Down  syndrome, but never followed through. Mrs. Wong and her husband disagreed about what to do (keep  or terminate the pregnancy) if the ultrasonography indicated a spinal problem, so they felt they did not  want this information.

Reflective Questions

 1. As the nurse, what priority data would you collect from this couple to help define relevant interventions to meet their needs?

2. How can you help this couple if they experience a negative outcome in the birthing suite? What are your personal views on terminating or continuing a pregnancy with a risk of a potential anomaly? What factors may influence your views?

3. With the influence of the recent Human Genome Project and the possibility of predicting open  spinal defects earlier in pregnancy, how will maternity care change in the future

Write a five (5) page minimum, DOUBLE SPACED, 12-FONT TIMES ROMAN paper with references and sources cited. The paper must discuss each step of the sections in detail. This project will be a minimum of five (5) pages for the entire paper, not five (5) pages for each step. Your cover sheet, abstract and your source citing/references are NOT included in the five page minimum. Your grade will depend upon the presentation of your analysis and research, the quality of the work presented – whether you give a detailed presentation or a vague overview, whether you addressed all parts of the question asked, and how you support your argument/discussion – as well as the citing of a variety of sources/use of references and whether you met the mandatory minimum page requirement. Please make sure to use AT LEAST 5 sources for your research. The paper should be written using APA Format. Please make sure you review your paper for spelling, grammar, and format and plagiarism errors before submitting it. Remember that the paper should be typed in Microsoft Word. Your paper will not receive a grade until it is submitted properly. If you need assistance, please let me know.

Topic: The EU as a regional organization—how important is it?

Thread: Of the many regional organizations that exist today, the EU is arguably among the most important (Asia is obviously critically important). But why? Acknowledging vastly unequal national capabilities among EU members from East to West, Europe is a more prosperous region than any other in the world. Yet some states, like the UK (Brexit), have questioned membership in the EU and its many commitments. Other members have expressed their hesitations with less drama, yet with no less intent to free ride as much as possible on the benefits of EU membership, while focusing most resources and attention on their own domestic needs. Given the readings, video presentations, and your own research, answer the following prompts in any order or manner you wish, separately or integrated:

  • Why is the EU as important to the collective well-being of its member states as member states are to their own people? One useful hint here is to ask if the logic of collective action driving the emergence of the EU has any comparative example in American history—can you guess what that very famous example would be?
  • Why is the EU important to the well-being of other regions and states? Why should China, the US, or Russia care, for example, about the long-term viability of the EU?
  • Using biblical and extra-biblical sources to inform your own reasoning (leave Bible prophecy aside for now), on what basis might Christians plausibly justify support for, indifference to, or even opposition to contractual arrangements like the EU? In plain English, can biblical wisdom and worldview better inform the practical and moral boundaries of interaction with regional institutions like the EU (think of other regional bodies as well)? What might some of those boundaries be?
