Parasympathetic and sympathetic activation are two competing effectors of the autonomic nervous system. Many organs have dual innervation, allowing changes in a split second through chemical messengers. Your task is to discuss how the autonomic nervous system responds to changes in homeostasis and provide a comparison between autonomic and somatic nerves.

You should spend approximately 4 hours on this assignment.

1. You are making your way to your car when suddenly your overly friendly neighbor pops out from behind a bush and yells “Surprise!” Focusing on one organ with dual innervation, prepare a written post with at least 300 words answering the following bullet points:
   1. What physiological events are happening in your chosen organ as you are going about your normal morning routine?
   2. How does being frightened by your neighbor alter the biological processes in your chosen organ? Be sure to include chemical messengers involved in inducing this change in physiological state.

For this project, you create a pie chart that shows each store’s share of golf-related sales for the first quarter. You also create a line chart to illustrate week-to-week sales for specific departments in one of the stores and insert sparklines in the data.

1. Open the BlueLakeSports-03 start file. If the workbook opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button so you can modify it. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the project file name if directed to do so by your instructor, and save it.
2. Create a pie chart object.
   1. Select the Revenue by Department sheet, select cells A4:F4, press Ctrl, and select cells A13:F13.
   2. Click the Recommended Charts button [Insert tab, Charts group].
   3. Choose Pie and click OK.
3. Apply a chart style.
   1. Select the chart object.
   2. Click the More button [Chart Design tab, Chart Styles group].
      Click the More button [Chart Tools Design tab, Chart Styles group].
   3. Select Style 12.
4. Size and position a chart object.
   1. Point to the chart object border to display the move pointer.
   2. Drag the chart object so its top-left corner is at cell A21.
   3. Point to the bottom right selection handle to display the resize arrow.
   4. Drag the pointer to cell G36.
5. Change the chart type.
   1. Select the pie chart object and click the Change Chart Type button [Chart Design tab, Type group].
      Select the pie chart object and click the Change Chart Type button [Chart Tools Design tab, Type group].
   2. Select the All Charts tab and choose Pie in the left pane.
   3. Choose 3-D Pie and click OK.
6. Format pie chart elements.
   1. Double-click the pie to open its Format Data Series task pane.
   2. Click the Atlanta slice to update the pane to the Format Data Point task pane. (Rest the pointer on a slice to see its identifying ScreenTip. )
   3. Click the Series Options button in the Format Data Series task pane.
   4. Set the pie explosion percentage at 10%.
   5. Close the task pane.
   6. Click the chart object border to deselect the Atlanta slice.
7. Add and format chart elements in a pie chart.
   1. Click the Chart Elements button in the top-right corner of the chart.
   2. Select the Data Labels box.
   3. Click the Data Labels arrow to open its submenu and choose More Options.
   4. If necessary, click the Label Options button In the Format Data Labels pane.
   5. If necessary, click Label Options to expand the group.
   6. Select the Percentage box.

   8. Press Ctrl+B to apply bold.
   9. Change the font size to 12 pt [Home tab, Font group].
   10. Click the chart object border to select it.

   4. Select Line.

   6. Click the New sheet button.

9. Apply a chart layout.

    4. Type Dollar Sales in the Formula bar and press Enter.
    5. Click the Chart Elements drop-down arrow [Chart Format tab, Current Selection group].

    6. Choose Series “Apparel” to select the line in the chart.

    2. Right-click the column F heading and choose Insert.
    3. Select cells B5:E18 as the data range.
    4. Click the Line Sparkline button [Insert tab, Sparklines group].
    5. Select cells F5:F18 in the Location Range box.
    6. Click OK.
13. Format sparklines in worksheet.
    1. Click the Format button [Home tab, Cells group] and change the Row Height to 24.
    2. Click the Format button [Home tab, Cells group] and set the Column Width to 35.
    3. Select the Markers box in the Show group in the Sparkline tab.

    4. Click the Sparkline Color button [Sparkline tab, Style group].

Read the Helen Demarco case .  This situation may be new to you, or it may identify an all-too-familiar dilemma that you may have experienced in your personal and/or professional life.  Some might argue that Helen’s actions were reasonable, and that she had no discernible options. Others will argue that she should have considered other courses of action.  Regardless, investigating different perspectives can lead to passionate exchanges about what is right, what is correct, and what is realistically possible in organizations.

The Demarco case offers you an opportunity to examine your personal beliefs and assumptions about the functioning of organizations as well as their leadership.  It can also help you put into perspective your personal theories about organizational change.  As you consider this case from various lenses, respond to the following questions:

• Do you agree with Helen’s decision to recommend that the group conduct a study?
• What options did Helen have and which one would you have s selected?
• Which of the four frames（structural, human resource, political, and symbolic）,  do you think apply most closely to the Helen Demarco case?  For instance, is this an example of a structural problem with the company? Or does it reflect more on a problem with human resources? Or is it a problem with the organization’s culture?
