business research

Imagine you are an international business researcher. You have been hired by a  Canadian business that is considering expanding internationally. They have narrowed the choice down to a few key markets and have asked that you provide some insight as to which market they should choose for their expansion. You should provide your recommendations in the form of an exploratory market research report.

Details: You choose the product the company exports (Apparel/Beer/Chocolate etc.)  and which country you are going to investigate on their behalf. Your  report should contain the following sections:

Market Intelligence: Political stability, Ease of doing business, Currency Risk, Trade Relationship with Canada

Customer Intelligence: Demographics of the market including potential market size/scope

Competitive Intelligence: Local Industry description and SWOT analysis of at least 2 major competitors

Recommendations: What should the export market strategy be for the company if they choose to enter this market?

Required:

  • 5-6 pages

Some of the specific issues that your export market research report should cover include:

  • Demand, growth, and price trends for the product.
  • Consumer purchasing habits and cultural practices.
  • The extent of the competition and who are the main competitors in a specific market or region?
  • Market characteristics in terms of size, distribution channels, production, what do they produce, how do they distribute, how do they communicate and what are their strategies?
  • The size of the market itself. How many inhabitants are there? How is the economy doing and what about the investment climate?

A typical report can be structured this way:

1. The Product – demand for the product, price trends, consumer purchasing trends for this product

2. The Competition – the extent of competition, SWOT analysis of main competitors

3. The Market – demographics of the market, operations in this market, geopolitical stability

4. Conclusion/Recommendation –  summarize your findings, provide recommendations for a specific,  targeted export market strategy for this company/product

Group project assignment paper MKT due 30

Time table:

February 18 (by 11:59PM)

Identify the specific brand and category of the product/category that your group wants to follow. It is preferable that this brand has been around in the market for at least 5 years so that you have significant information available online about the history and performance over the years. For example, you cannot just say Pepsi Co., you need to specify that your chosen brand would be Aquafina, from the purified water product category. This will focus your data collection and making the connections that you need to make to consumer behavior concepts. Submit TWO choices with the order of preference and I will assign one of the two to your group. You will have to submit this via Canvas (look for the drop box named “Product choice”). Only one member in every group needs to submit on behalf of the group. Just giving me the names of the brand and the company are enough. For example, it is enough to say:

Group # ____, Members (name, name, name)

Choice 1 – Aquafina by Pepsi Co.

Choice 2 – BiC Mechanical pencils by MMXI Bic Inc.

You will get a reply from me via Canvas on by February 20 with the final assignment of the brand. You will work ONLY on that one brand that is assigned to your group.

Feb 21- March 31

This is the most important time that you will be working on your project. If you let this slide, it will be difficult to catch up.

  1. Your team will scour the news and tap into personal experiences to relate your specific brand to all the concepts we have discussed so far/and are discussing currently in the class. You may want to ignore some introductory topics in Chapter 1 as they may be too generic to apply. And you will have to be choosy with the actual concepts that truly apply. Only some concepts/terms will apply and you will need to provide evidence from literature to support your claim.
  2. You will have to also have to tell me why the connections that you made are important to the study of Consumer Behavior. You can add advertisements (print or video) to illustrate these connections. It will augment your arguments.
  3. Your group should collaborate through Canvas or Google docs or some such sharing mechanism in order to keep a running tab of all contributions, connections, and observations.

April 1-15

Start writing your group report on all your observations. Your written report needs to be at least 15 pages long with the following sections.

  1. Brand and product category chosen and why that specific one (1 to 2 paras)
  2. History of the company and brand in particular (2 pages max)
  3. CB terms/concepts that relate to your brand and how and why (1 page for every concept with evidence, APA style in-text citations)
  4. Observations, conclusions (2 pages min, 4 pages max)
  5. Appendices (in addition to the 15 pages)
  6. References (in addition to the 15 pages)
  7. Double spaced (or at least 1.5)
  8. I HAVE DISTRIBUTED A SAMPLE PROJECT. TRY TO DO BETTER THAN THE SAMPLE (no pressure!).

April 15-25

Work on your PPT presentation slides in class with your group. You will need to have at least one lap-top per group. Last 15 minutes in every class session will be group time.

April 19, 23, 26

30 Minute presentation per group (2-3 groups in one day). 15 minutes for presentation and 10 min QA. Every member has to present.

Attendance is mandatory on both days. Unless prearranged, absences will be penalized at my discretion. If you are sick, I need to see a doctor’s note.

Business casual clothing for the groups presenting.

Order of presentations determined by lottery in class sometime in March.

April 30

Written report due via Canvas by 11:59 pm. Only group member needs to submit it.

360-degree group member evaluations due via Canvas. Every student submits the evaluation via Canvas.

SE 5004-2

This assignment has three parts, which will be submitted in one document.

Part 1: To learn more about the abilities and characteristics associated with intellectual disabilities, explore the various individuals portrayed in the video “Just Like You- Down Syndrome;” located under your weekly resources. Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the individuals portrayed in the video with and without an intellectual disability.

Part 2: Brainstorm a list of what you believe are the abilities and characteristics of students with an intellectual disability as well as what you believe these students can and cannot do. Next, view the documentary “Monica and David” (located under your weekly resources) exploring the marriage of a young couple with Down syndrome, and the family who strives to support their needs. Revisit the brainstormed list and discuss how your perspectives may have changed and why.

Part 3: Discuss why “labeling” and “self-fulfilling prophecy” are particularly important concepts involving individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Length: 4-6 pages, including title and reference page

References: Minimum of two scholarly journal references

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.

CLA1 BUS550

Please note this CLA 1 assignment consists of two separate parts. The first part gives the cash flows for two mutually exclusive projects and is not related to the second part. The second part is a capital budgeting scenario.

Part 1

Please calculate the payback period, IRR, MIRR, NPV, and PI for the following two mutually exclusive projects. The required rate of return is 15% and the target payback is 4 years. Explain which project is preferable under each of the four capital budgeting methods mentioned above:

Table 1

Cash flows for two mutually exclusive projects

For the table please refer to the attachment.

Part 2

Please study the following capital budgeting project and then provide explanations for the questions outlined below:

You have been hired as a consultant for Pristine Urban-Tech Zither, Inc. (PUTZ), manufacturers of fine zithers. The market for zithers is growing quickly. The company bought some land three years ago for $2.1 million in anticipation of using it as a toxic waste dump site but has recently hired another company to handle all toxic materials. Based on a recent appraisal, the company believes it could sell the land for $2.3 million on an after-tax basis. In four years, the land could be sold for $2.4 million after taxes. The company also hired a marketing firm to analyze the zither market, at a cost of $125,000. An excerpt of the marketing report is as follows:

The zither industry will have a rapid expansion in the next four years. With the brand name recognition that PUTZ brings to bear, we feel that the company will be able to sell 3,600, 4,300, 5,200, and 3,900 units each year for the next four years, respectively. Again, capitalizing on the name recognition of PUTZ, we feel that a premium price of $750 can be charged for each zither. Because zithers appear to be a fad, we feel at the end of the four-year period, sales should be discontinued. PUTZ believes that fixed costs for the project will be $415,000 per year, and variable costs are 15 percent of sales. The equipment necessary for production will cost $3.5 million and will be depreciated according to a three-year MACRS schedule. At the end of the project, the equipment can be scrapped for $350,000. Net working capital of $125,000 will be required immediately. PUTZ has a 38% tax rate, and the required rate of return on the project is 13%.

Now please provide detailed explanation for the following:

  • Explain how you determine the initial cash flows
  • Discuss the notion of sunk costs and identify the sunk cost in this project
  • Verify how you determine the annual operating cash flows
  • Explain how you determine the terminal cash flows at the end of the project’s life
  • Calculate the NPV and IRR of the project and decide if the project is acceptable
  • If the company that is implementing this project is a publicly traded company, explain and justify how this project will impact the market price of the company’s stock

Provide your explanations and definitions in detail and be precise. Comment on your findings. Provide references for content when necessary. Provide your work in detail and explain in your own words. Support your statements with peer-reviewed in-text citation(s) and reference(s). All PA and CLA submissions require at least six (6) peer-reviewed references which should include the source of the data.

define human rights and human rights violations

In this paper, you are asked to define human rights and human rights violations. You could start with your own understanding of these two extremely important issues. You should then explain how the readings we have done and videos we have watched have either modified or strengthened your own views.

Then you should address the following questions: Can different countries have different sets of human rights? Should antiquated customs and traditions weigh at all in assessing the criteria governing human rights, or should such customs and traditions be dispensed with if they infringe on human rights? In other words, are human rights natural rights—and therefore inalienable— or are they cultural (and possibly socio-political) constructs? Finally, explain why, in your view, we are still far from a world in which human rights are universally observed and respected, notwithstanding the fact that the Declaration of Human Rights was adopted  in 1948 (https://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/index.html). In particular, has the West effectively promoted human rights, or have some of its practices hindered them?

Feel free to explore these topics and come up with your own approach. Bring in concrete examples! There are many examples from history, past and present. We have already discussed a few of them and will talk about more. However, you can also choose different examples.

Don’t forget to refer to the readings as you write your essays; in other words, quote and paraphrase!

Assignment 1: Case Study Assignment: Assessing Neurological Symptoms

Imagine not being able to form new memories. This is the reality patients with anterograde amnesia face. Although this form of amnesia is rare, it can result from severe brain trauma. Anterograde amnesia demonstrates just how impactful brain disorders can be to a patient’s quality of living. Accurately assessing neurological symptoms is a complex process that involves the analysis of many factors.

In this Case Study Assignment, you will consider case studies that describe abnormal findings in patients seen in a clinical setting.

To Prepare
  • By Day 1 of this week, you will be assigned to a specific case study for this Case Study Assignment. Please see the “Course Announcements” section of the classroom for your assignment from your Instructor.
  • Also, your Case Study Assignment should be in the Episodic/Focused SOAP Note format rather than the traditional narrative style format. Refer to Chapter 2 of the Sullivan text and the Episodic/Focused SOAP Template in the Week 5 Learning Resources for guidance. Remember that all Episodic/Focused SOAP notes have specific data included in every patient case.

With regard to the case study you were assigned:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources, and consider the insights they provide about the case study.
  • Consider what history would be necessary to collect from the patient in the case study you were assigned.
  • Consider what physical exams and diagnostic tests would be appropriate to gather more information about the patient’s condition. How would the results be used to make a diagnosis?
  • Identify at least five possible conditions that may be considered in a differential diagnosis for the patient.
The Case Study Assignment

Use the Episodic/Focused SOAP Template and create an episodic/focused note about the patient in the case study to which you were assigned using the episodic/focused note template provided in the Week 5 resources. Provide evidence from the literature to support diagnostic tests that would be appropriate for each case. List five different possible conditions for the patient’s differential diagnosis, and justify why you selected each.

CASE STUDY

CASE STUDY 1: Headaches

A 20-year-old male complains of experiencing intermittent headaches. The headaches diffuse all over the head, but the greatest intensity and pressure occurs above the eyes and spreads through the nose, cheekbones, and jaw.

Appropriate use of citations/references: Students are expected to follow APA style writing.

Appropriate response length is 2600-word count. Times New Roman, 12 font size, and double space.  The minimum expected response length is 2,500 and maximum length is 2,600. https://weassistessays.com/describe-the-three-stages-of-hemostasis-explain-the-difference-between-the-term/ Your mark will be deducted if your paper is not in an appropriate length.

General quality of writing (grammar, spelling, sentence/paragraph structure, and evidence of diligent proofreading)

Caution: The assignment without references will be considered as having no citations and will receive a mark of “-10.”

Structure

Part 1: 1 page Country Profile (6 marks): Please assume that your paper will be read by someone who has no idea about the assigned country. Location, language, religion, population etc. can be helpful to include in your paper. (Please do not send the country profile separately. It must be in the same Word document, just under the country profile section)

Part 2:Human Rights Violation:

Introduction (8 marks): You should introduce your paper briefly. Readers should have a brief idea before they begin reading your body paragraph – what your paper is about? What is your thesis statement? What is your specific argument?

Body (10 marks): In this section, you will provide a further summary about the specific human rights issue you will be working on. You can focus on one specific human rights issue in the chosen country and tell your readers why the issue is important and provide more details on that and tell your readers whether anything has done in the assigned country’s criminal justice system. For instance, if you are writing about a specific law that is against queer people then tell your readers whether anything has done in the criminal justice system. How other NGOs see the situation etc. Providing different perspectives always help. https://convenienthomeworkhelpers.com/l-set-some-time-aside-during-a-staff-meeting-to-explore-ways-that-you-and-your/

Discussion and transition in ideas between paragraphs should flow well.

Conclusion (10 marks): This part is VERY important. Beyond simply repeating/summarizing what your paper has already said, reflect on the broader importance of your paper to specific one.  The reader will be looking for an answer to “So what?!” in your conclusion. What are your suggestions or analysis about the specific issue that you have focused on/chosen? What are your recommendations?

Use of Evidence / Logic and Argumentation          /6

Examples and other evidence support the main thesis and fit cohesively within each paragraph. All ideas presented in the body of the essay flow from, and support the argument presented in the thesis statement.

Students must use at least two peer-reviewed articles and two International Non-Profit Organization (INGO) reports.

Websites/sources such as Wikipedia, blogs/vlogs are not reliable sources for academic papers and they are unacceptable!

PLEASE DO MAKE SURE TO COPY AND PASTE THIS RUBRIC IN YOUR ASSIGNMENT.  The rubric will be excluded from the word-count.

MARKETING HEALTHCARE PRESPECTIVE UNIT 1 PROJECT

Assume that you work in a large health care organization that offers health services to the broader community. As part of the marketing team, you have been asked to research and propose some best practices (cost, quality, and access to care) to the marketing team for marketing health care technology. They also want your well-supported thoughts on marketing in the evolving health care environment.

After considering the scenario above, start by defining health care marketing and developing an essay that details your findings on health care technology marketing best practices and the evolving health care system. Address the following:

  1. Define health care marketing.
  2. Describe what a marketing report is.
  3. Describe 3–5 approaches or best practices that the health care organization would use to market and promote new technology.
  4. Summarize your understanding of the evolving health care market.

A minimum 3 academic sources should be cited in APA from the past 5 years.

Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:

  • Title page: Remember the running head. The title should be in all capitals.
  • Length: 3 pages minimum
  • Abstract: This is a summary of your paper, not an introduction. Begin writing in third person.
  • Body: This begins on the page following the title page and abstract page and must be double-spaced (be careful not to triple- or quadruple-space between paragraphs). The typeface should be 12-pt. Times Roman or 12-pt. Courier in regular black type. Do not use color, bold type, or italics, except as required for APA-level headings and references. The deliverable length of the body of your paper for this assignment is 3 pages. In-body academic citations to support your decisions and analysis are required. A variety of academic sources is encouraged.
  • Reference page: References that align with your in-body academic sources are listed on the final page of your paper. The references must be in APA format using appropriate spacing, hanging indent, italics, and uppercase and lowercase usage as appropriate for the type of resource used. Remember, the Reference page is not a bibliography but a further listing of the abbreviated in-body citations used in the paper. Every referenced item must have a corresponding in-body citation.

legal issues discussion

This Board will sound familiar.  That’s on purpose!  Many situations you encounter in the practitioner world arch over multiple employment laws at the same time.  It’s up to you to know your stuff and guide your organizaiton appropriately.

Joe, a Welding employee in your steel manufacturing company, has been employed with you for 7 years and works full-time.  He is known to suffer from sleep apnea. He has a CPAP machine that was prescribed following an overnight sleep study and discusses his progress with his sleep specialist and primary care physician. Joe’s inability to get a good night’s rest causes him to be groggy and tired in the mornings.  This tiredness / exhaustion causes Joe to be tardy to work on an almost daily basis.

Your manufacturing company works 3 shifts and it’s a very firm, set shedule (7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a).  If Joe shows up at 7:01am, he’s considered late and gets attendance demit points. Joe senses his job may be at risk, and shows up in your office to offer an explanation about his medical situation. It’s Joe’s opinion that his Sleep Apnea chronic condition disrupts his ability to perform a major life event (i.e, that of sleeping).  Since due to family reasons, he can’t change to 2nd or 3rd shift, he’s requesting an accommodation from the company to work from 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Your skepticism kicks in, and you’re pretty sure Joe just wants to get his kids on the bus in the morning.

Take 400 words to share your next steps, insights to what the interactive process might look like, potential solutions, etc.  Be sure to ultimately answer the question of: Is Joe’s accommodation request reasonable?  Ir so, why?  If not, under what grounds (undue hardship, essential function, or coworker displacement) would you claim and justify unreasonability?

Utilize and quote laws, regulations, best-practices, etc. This is your chance to be a practitioner with a real life situation.  Yes, this exact scenario happened to me as an HR Manager.
