MARKETING 100: Positioning Statement and Motto

””Amazon

Amazon’s Mission Statement
Amazon.com has had a clear focus and a solitary mission since it began. Founder Jeff Bezos has publicly referred to the Amazon.com mission statement as the guiding force behind his leadership decisions many times in the company’s 18-year history. It can be concluded that the success of Amazon.com as the top Internet retailing company in the world is due at least in part to their unwavering commitment to this mission and the daily execution of it. The mission and vision of Amazon.com is…

“Our vision is to be earth’s most customer centric company; to build a place where people can come to find and discover anything they might want to buy online.”

Amazon’s 2001 Positioning Statement (when it almost exclusively sold books)
For World Wide Web users who enjoy books, Amazon.com is a retail bookseller that provides instant access to over 1.1 million books. Unlike traditional book retailers, Amazon.com provides a combination of extraordinary convenience, low prices, and comprehensive selection.

For World Wide Web users who enjoy books, Amazon.com is a retail bookseller that provides instant access to over 1.1 million books. Unlike traditional book retailers, Amazon.com provides a combination of extraordinary convenience, low prices, and comprehensive selection.””

In this assignment, you will be writing a 5 pages paper following APA format, in which you will create a Positioning Statement and Motto for the following brand: Amazon.com

Use the information listed above, as well as your own research, to assess the brand by answering the following questions. At the end, be sure to develop what you believe would be a new or better positioning statement and motto for the brand.

1. Target Customers/Users

– Who are the target customers for the company/brand?

– How could/does the company reach its customers/users? What methods and media might and/or does the company use to reach the customers/users?

– What would grab the customers/users’ attention? Define the customers/users according to their demographics and psychographic information (e.g., age, gender, income, education, lifestyle, values, etc). How do they want to be perceived?

– What do these target customers’ value?

2. Competitors

– Who are the brand’s competitors?

– What product category does the brand fit into?

– What frame of reference will customers use in making a choice to use/purchase this brand/service? What other brands/companies might customers compare this brand to?

3. USP (Unique Selling Proposition)

– How is this brand/company better than its competitors? What is the brand’s USP (Unique Selling Proposition?

– What is the brand’s uniqueness?

– What is the competitive advantage of the brand? How is it different from other competing brands?

– Does the brand have any attributes or benefits that dominate competitors?

4. Positioning Statement & Motto

Develop a new positioning statement and motto for the brand you selected.

Below is an example of BMW’s positioning statement and motto.

BMW Positioning statement: The brand for discerning customers of sports cars (target customers) who want an exhilarating experience (USP).

BMW Motto: BMW is the ultimate driving machine.

For the other topics, look into Apple’s employment practices, contract practices, privacy protections, corporate social responsibility, ethical code, etc.

When you have selected your company, research and cover the following points in a well written essay. Use APA format and topical headings.

  1. In an introductory paragraph identify the company, the topic and a well crafted thesis statement.

Evaluate two ethical frameworks with respect to the company’s management’s decisions that led to the situation. One of these should be the ethical framework you identify as the framework the company followed in its decision-making. The other should be a contrasting framework that might have produced a different situation for the company.
  5. Other legal topics that relate to the company’s business: Also, clearly define and evaluate three (3) additional legal topics (NOT antitrust or consumer protection) that we covered this term — and that are explained in your text and required readings, and apply them to the company’s business. (Hint: Review the legal topics in the textbook and cite to the the text in your analysis. We covered many subjects. Examples: contracts, torts, product liability, bankruptcy, securities & stocks trading, employment issues, defamation, privacy, ADR, etc. Include illustrative case law.)
  6. General recommendations for business leadership and managers that you have learned from this study (not just for the company you have selected, but for running a business).

Blockchain Implementation Project Plan- Developing blockchain app on Walmart…

Every project that has a reasonable chance at success starts with a solid plan. A project plan is far more than just a schedule – it is a master plan that directs all planning and execution efforts to meet a project’s goals. For this class project, you will create a project plan to implement a newly developed blockchain application.

The first step in this assignment is to describe your organization’s environment and blockchain application. You can choose a consumer-based or enterprise application environment. Each one has its own environmental concerns. Once you describe your organization and blockchain application environment, you will provide the abbreviated project plan. (A real project plan will include detailed schedule, budget, procurement, and other supporting plans. This project won’t require all components of a real-life project plan.)

You abbreviated project plan (with organizational and blockchain environment introduction) must be no less than 1500 words. Your paper must be in proper APA format, including proper in-text citations and end references for any external sources you use. No more than 10% of this paper may originate from external sources. This isn’t a research paper – it is a project plan. Your paper must start with the following sections (which should comprise at least 1/3 of your paper):

    Abstract

  • Organizational overview – Introduce your organization (it can be fictitious). Describe what your organization does, how it defines success, what services or products it produces, and why it decided to venture into blockchain technology. Then describe the specific goals blockchain technology must meet to be deemed a success.

  • Blockchain environment overview – Describe the type of blockchain your organization has decided to implement and why. Explain how your chosen blockchain implementation is the best choice for your organization’s goals and capabilities, and how your organization participates in your chosen blockchain network’s governance.

  • Deliverables – a list (with descriptions) of artifacts to be delivered to the customer (defined in
stakeholders above) at the end of the project

  • Critical success factors – What criteria will customers use to determine whether the deliverables
    are acceptable?

  • Work Breakdown Structure – What steps are necessary to take your application from a
development environment to a deployed and operating environment? This section demonstrates an understanding of the implementation process. Provide a description, along with details, of tasks necessary to deploy a blockchain application and make it available for end users. You don’t need to provide specific commands or details but describe the process in enough detail that your technical staff could create procedures from your plan.

  • Quality plan – Describe how you plan to measure and enforce quality standards at each step. Describe your chosen quality metrics and how you will ensure your desired quality standards will be maintained.

  • Operationalization plan – Once you have successfully deployed your application conducted a formal hand-off to customers, describe how you will hand-off the maintenance of your application to operations. Describe the process of handing off the application and what operations needs to take delivery of your application responsibilities.

Don’t let this plan become a collection of lists. The purpose of this assignment is for you to consider the level of effort required to implement any blockchain application. We aren’t covering the initial blockchain network implementation – just an application’s implementation. Be creative when you choose an application. Really think through how to describe your blockchain application in such a way that you can use your description to get funding and support for your project.

UGA: Practice Summarizing an Article

Purpose: This discussion activity is meant to help your group put into practice the skills you learned last week about how to read journal articles. Knowing how to do this is vital not only to being able to successfully evaluate the truth (or falsity) behind your group’s myth, but also for the next group assignment: writing an annotated bibliography. Participating as a group in this discussion will allow your group to get ungraded feedback on this task before you have to do it for a grade.

General Instructions:

  1. AS A GROUP, select a peer-reviewed journal article related to your myth that you’d like to discuss. I recommend choosing an article your group has found so far that you think you might use in your Annotated Bibliography. Doing so will benefit your group when it comes time to write & submit that assignment.
  2. Once your group decides on a article, one group member must post that article in the discussion so that I have access to it. To do this, simply click in the Reply box as if you were going to write a response & then click “Attach” at the bottom.
  3. After the article has been selected, each group member should take time to read it over carefully.

Discussion Instructions:

Each group member will need to make their own initial post DUE Thursday, 3/11, containing the following:

  • A summary of the main points/purpose of the work that are most relevant to the group’s myth. For example, you might focus on the study’s goals, methods, findings, limitations, or implications.
    • Try to write a summary that is 100 words or less. So be succinct and mention only what is most important.
    • Put the ideas from the article into your own words. No quotes allowed!
  • Any questions about a part of the study you had when reading the article.

The group should then reply to each other, discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the summaries that have been posted, trying to help each other find the best way to summarize the chosen article. Again, think of this as a way to ensure the whole group will succeed on the annotated bibliography assignment!

I will check in on these discussion after Sunday 3/14 and provide feedback to the group as a whole on the summaries provided, so make sure you’ve participated in the discussion by that date in order to earn credit for this activity.

Enlg reading response night of the living dead

Reading Response #2: Night of the Living Dead

Jeremiah CrotserNo unread replies.No replies.

  • This reading response is for George Romero’s film, Night of the Living Dead. While it is a film and not a “reading,” you still have the opportunity to analyze it. Rather than picking a quote from written material, you should pick a quote from the spoken communication in the film. Remember, it’s still crucial that you quote directly. That’s always the same.
  • Each reading response entry should begin with a quotation from the required reading. It should be a quote of a passage that you have a question about and that interests you in some way.
  • After you’ve posted the quotation, you need to try to articulate a question that you have about that passage, and that relates to something in the reading that is of interest to you. The question should be explained over at least five sentences. This will give you the opportunity to develop your thinking about the reading in a meaningful way. Do not simple restate facts, or summarize what you’ve read or viewed. We’ve all read it and we DO NOT need you to rehash the plot, the major themes, etc… You should be engaging with this material in a way that reflects what you’re thinking about it. That’s what’s most important here.
  • Each entry should refer directly to the specific passage that you quoted from. You may want to relate this passage to another passage in the reading, or to a broader idea but the question needs to be based in the passage itself.
  • You will also be required to respond to at least one of your classmates’ reading responses. Be sure to engage in a meaningful, respectful way with their ideas. Don’t just say “I agree” or “that’s a bad idea.” Try to use your engagement as an occasion to produce new ideas.

Reading responses are graded, and in order to receive full credit, they need to reflect careful reading and thinking. Reading responses that don’t demonstrate that you’ve done the reading will not receive credit. For instance, if you write, as a question, “Why did you have us read this?” or, “What other books did this author write?” or “What does the author want to say to us?” then you won’t receive credit. Be specific, referencing the reading/viewing material and engaging with it, and you’ll do fine.

Discussion Topic Business Finance

For this week discussion you will be using

http://finra-markets.morningstar.com/BondCenter/Default.jsp

In your initial response you should answer the main question: If you are an investor who is looking for a corporate bond to invest to, are you going to buy a bond that you chose? To answer this question you should complete three steps:

1). Copy the bond’s quotation from the website.

2). Describe the main elements of the bond:

  •  Coupon rate
  •  Calculate annual coupon payment (assuming face value $1,000)
  • What is the frequency of coupon payments of the bond? If the frequency is greater than 1, how much is payment is going to be?
  •  Maturity,
  •  Rating. Explain the meaning of rating.
  •  The last price listed in quotation
  •  How much the investor would pay for the bond assuming $1,000 face value and using the last price listed in quotation?
  • Calculate the current yield of the bond assuming that par value of the bond is $1,000
  • How much is the YTM listed in quotations is for the bond? Explain the meaning of YTM.
  • Is the bond callable or not? If the bond that you chose is callable (non-callable), will it change your decision to buy it?

To find the information on bonds, click on Search in the middle of the screen, under Quick Search type the Issuer Name and the Symbol, and click SHOW RESULTS.

Another useful website on bond information is https://markets.businessinsider.com/bonds. To find the information on bonds, scroll down the page, type the name of the company in the window under Bond Finder, and click SEARCH.

3) Take a look at the balance sheet and income statement of the company. What data or ratios support your decision to buy this bond or not? You should develop a specific recommendation, with supporting rationale to explain your answer.
