Cascading Style Sheets are used to provide style, presentation, and layout for the HTML content of a Web page. You will develop an external CSS to provide style, presentation, and layout to an HTML document.

  • If you have not installed Microsoft Visual Studio Software in a prior course, follow these instructions for installation steps.
  • Download the provided Unit2.zip document and save it to your computer. Click here to download the Unit2.zip document.
  • Right-click the Unit2.zip folder and Extract All.
  • Open Visual Studio and select File > Open Web Site from the menu. Navigate to the extracted Unit2 folder and select it to open the Website in Visual Studio.
  • Select Website > Add New Item from the menu and select Style Sheet from Add New Item dialog box. Name the style sheet Unit2.css.
  • Add style rules to Unit2.css to accomplish the following:
    • Ensure that the semantic elements format in older browsers.
    • Eliminate the default spacing around all elements.
    • Use the Verdana font or any available sans-serif font for the text.
    • Set the font size for the body to 80% of the browser’s default font size.
    • Set the width of the window to display the document to 700.
    • Center the text in the header.
    • Provide spacing at the top of the level-one heading in the header to the equivalent of one capital M without affecting the spacing of the image.
    • Set the font size for the level-one heading in the header to three times the browser’s default font size.
    • Display the image in the header to the right of the text.
    • Ensure the text of the section does not flow around the image in the header.
    • Display the image in the first paragraph to the left of the text.
    • Set the font size for the level-one heading in the section to two times the browser’s default font size.
    • Center the text in the level-one heading in the section.
    • Provide spacing at the bottom of the level-one heading in the section to the equivalent of one capital M.
    • Set the font size for the level two headings in the section to one and one-half times the browser’s default font size.
    • Center the text in the level two headings in the section.
    • Center the text in the navigation.
    • Provide spacing at the bottom of the navigation to the equivalent of two capital Ms.
    • Bold the text of a hyperlink when the user hovers over the hyperlink or a hyperlink gets the focus.
    • Set the text of a hyperlink to red when the user hovers over the hyperlink or a hyperlink gets the focus.
    • Display the footer on the right side of the page.
    • Set the font size of the text in the footer to 75% of the browser’s default font size.
  • Validate the CSS style rules.
  • Zip (compress) the Visual Studio project folder into a .zip file to submit.

Grading

You will be graded on the ability to link the Web page to the CSS. You will be graded on the syntax of the style rules in the CSS. Points will be deducted for style rules that incorrectly format the requirements. Points will be deducted for any syntax errors that cause the browser to ignore the style rule.

Journal Entry #3 – Historical Memory

Journal Entry #3:  Please answer the following in this week’s journal entry.  You must have at least 350 words written in this journal entry.  There are two parts to this journal entry – complete both parts.

Total Points Possible:  50

1) For this Module 3, Unit 3, please discuss how history (and historical memory) impacts your personal and everyday life.  To what extent can you and your loved ones feel history’s effects?  Explain.  Refer to course materials, readings, and or the posted web links to make your case and for your analysis.

2) In terms of your history, please present details (or as many details you can) about your family tree – where your family and ancestors came from, countries of origin, and names of ancestors (for as far back as you know) and your family’s story of how they came to be (via origins and immigration, if any).  Share what you know and also try to do some research (personal contacts and or websites – ancestry.com or genealogy sites).  Answer the following questions regarding this information:

  • What do you know about your family history?  How did you come to know this information?
  • What information about your family history is missing?  Why do you think that such information is missing?
  • What insights do you have regarding what kind of information is available about our family histories and what info is not and why that might be the case?  (Which leads us into the politics of recording information and documenting our pasts)

Planning the Major Elements of an E-Commerce Web Site

Electronic commerce (e-commerce) is more than just a shopping cart. One of the first steps in building an e-commerce Web site is determining the requirements of all stakeholders. Click on the following link to read an article that explores this topic:

How to Gather All of Your E-Commerce Site Requirements:

Based on your knowledge, experience, and ideas, respond to the following:

  • Give a detailed example from one of the following categories of requirements explained in the article linked above:
    • Business requirements
    • Functional requirements
    • Technical requirements
  • Explain in detail (2–3 paragraphs) why this might be a requirement, which stakeholders might favor this requirement (and why), and why it belongs in this category. Support your ideas with at least 1 reference to course content or an outside source.

When replying to fellow students, look for opportunities to connect their responses to other topics in the current unit, including points that you may have made in your own posts. You may also spot an opportunity to connect the discussion to an article or news story that you have read about, which you can link in your reply. In addition, you can share how your experience with the course content has shaped your opinions and ideas about e-commerce requirements and how participating in this discussion has done so.

Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format should be correct and professional. Begin contributing to the discussion by Friday.

Human Biology

Section A

We will be discussing the functional differences between the three types of muscle tissue: Cardiac, Smooth and Skeletal.  This discussion will involve all three chapters on muscle tissue and the musculoskeletal system as we bring the concepts of muscle function together.

1. What are the cellular differences and similarities between these three tissues?

2. What are the functional differences between these three tissues?

3. How does their form aid in these functional differences?

4. In your opinion what was the most complex concept about muscle function? Did you require any additional sources to understand or was there a particular resource in the course that helped you the most.

Section B

Please choose ONE of the following topics, watch the associated video and answer the associated questions. When you are done please read and comment on two other responses.

Asthma Attacks

Visit this site (ASTHMA) to learn more about what happens during an asthma attack. What are the changes that occur inside the airways during an asthma attack?

Spirometer

Watch this video (SPIROMETRY) to learn more about lung volumes and spirometers. Explain how spirometry test results can be used to diagnose respiratory diseases or determine the effectiveness of disease treatment.

Blueblood

Watch this video (BLOOD) to see the transport of oxygen from the lungs to the tissues. Why is oxygenated blood bright red, whereas deoxygenated blood tends to be more of a red-purple color?

Section C

A number of factors can increase the risk of developing chronic kidney disease, including:

Diabetes mellitus

High blood pressure

A family history of kidney disease

African-American and other ethnic minorities

Obesity

Smoking

Older age

Having protein in the urine

Having autoimmune diseases such as lupus

Choose three of these risk factors and explain how they play a roll in chronic kidney disease

Initial Screening Criteria

Now that you have defined your need and identified a large number of possible ways to meet that need, you’ll want to whittle that list down to a manageable size. This is the stage where you exclude options that are impractical, or unrealistic or too difficult in order to get down to a short list of options which you will examine in greater detail later.

What you want to define at this stage are the minimum requirements which the things you are examining must meet in order to be workable as a solution in your situation. In the next stage, you will define further criteria which must be met in addition to the ones you are establishing here.

In a statement of 100-150 words

  • Describe 3 criteria—3 features, functions, qualities, capabilities, etc—which any of the options you are considering must have. For each criterion, explain why it is necessary, and why not having it could be a liability.
  • Out of the range of possible options you identified in Exercise 1, pick two which meet your criteria. At this point, you want to be dealing with actual brands and models. For each one, explain how it meets the criteria.

For illustrations of how to do this, see these sample recommendation reports (curated by David McMurrey):

♦ The first 3 ¶s of Comparison of Laptop Computers

♦ The sections “Background on power supplies,” “Features required by the UPS,” and “Narrowing the Field” in Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems

Nurses protecting patient info – 280-300 word discussion due 08/08

In the United States, there was a whopping 97% increase in the number of health records breached from 2010 to 2011… The number of patient records accessed in each breach has also increased substantially, from 26,968 (in 2010) to 49,394 (in 2011). Since August 2009, when the US government regulated that any breach affecting more than 500 patients be publicly disclosed, a total of 385 breaches, involving more than 19 million records, have been reported to the Department of Health and Human Services.

A large portion of those breaches, 39%, occurred because of a lost, stolen, or otherwise compromised portable electronic device—a problem that will likely only get worse as iPads, smartphones, and other gadgets become more common in hospitals. (CMAJ, 2012, p. E215).

Consider your own experiences. Does your organization use portable electronic devices? What safeguards are in place to ensure the security of data and patient information? For this Discussion you consider ethical and security issues surrounding the protection of digital health information.

To prepare

  • Review the Learning Resources dealing with the security of digital health care information. Reflect on your own organization or one with which you are familiar, and think about how health information stored electronically is protected.
  • Consider the nurse’s responsibility to ensure the protection of patient information. What strategies can you use?
  • Reflect on ethical issues that are likely to arise with the increased access to newer, smaller, and more powerful technology tools.
  • Consider strategies that can be implemented to ensure that the use of HIT contributes to an overall culture of safety.

Post an analysis of the nurse’s responsibility to protect patient information and the extent that HIT has made it easier or more difficult to protect patient privacy. Comment on any security or ethical issues related to the use of portable devices to store information. Assess the strategies your organization uses to safeguard patient information and how these promote a culture of safety. Describe an area where improvement is needed and one strategy that could address the situation.

Deliverable 4 – Creating an Internal Assessment Survey

Competency

Apply the principles of strategic planning to construct strategic management plans for organizations.

Instructions

Your boss needs you to develop an employee assessment survey that consists of 10 questions and will be administered through email to all employees. She hands you the following requirements that must be addressed within the survey:

  • Integrating a Likert scale
  • Identifying technical competencies on ERP systems
  • Examining skill depth within financial services
  • Reviewing overall knowledge of HR legal compliance
  • Understanding depth of product knowledge
  • Comprehending engineering technical abilities
  • Gathering information on general shipping knowledge
  • Identifying interest in future leaders

Your job is to submit your boss the questionnaire that contains 10 specific questions that integrate the requirements above along with any other necessary pieces of information you believe would add value to understanding the employees’ feelings about their operational knowledge and capabilities.

Additionally, you need to submit a one-page summary that includes an introduction showcasing an understanding of internal assessments. Within the body of the paper, provide comparative research to other possible external surveys. Lastly, within the conclusion, discuss why your survey will add operational value to the organization.

Appcelerator Titanium Discussion

Class,

Appcelerator Titanium was released in December 2008, and has been steadily growing in functionality since its release.  Starting with its Titanium Developer product, Appcelerator provides a single-point interface to run applications.  Titanium Studio is a full-featured IDE which provides a single place to handle all steps of the development environment including a debugging solution.   Titanium is not a magic bullet; however, it does include a solid framework for developing a single codebase to deploy to multiple platforms.   In addition, it allows developers to use a language they are more familiar with to create apps in a domain outside of their knowledge.

  • What are some advantages to using Appcelerator Titanium?
  • Though Appcelerator is reasonably priced, why do some mobile app developers feel that the bugs don’t make it worth the effort?.
  • How is Appcelerator different from other mobile application developers?

Statistical Analysis in JASP TOOL

This quiz will model much of what your task may be like when working on your own dissertation. You have been provided the data set in order to answer the research question below. The data set (CSV-Student_Achievement_Dataset.CSV) is a Comma-Separated-Values file. Generally, JASP opens these files nicely, but you will always want to check your rows and columns to see that nothing seems out of place. You will do a complete/full analysis with this file and provide your conclusion in APA format. Again, you should not include output in your dissertation, but for this assignment, it IS required.

A quiz that earns full credit will include (for each research question):

1. An introductory sentence about which test(s) will be used and what indicated that it was the correct test.

2. A stated null and alternative hypothesis.

3. The output from JASP.

4. A conclusion in paragraph form that includes the decision you made, APA formatted reporting of your statistics, and a final statement about your findings as it relates to the research question. (2-3 sentences is fine)

Research Questions

1. Is there a relationship between a student’s Language Arts Scaled Score (cstlass) and a student’s Math Scaled Score (cstmss)?

2. Do males and females score differently on Language Arts Scaled Scores (cstlass)?  What about Math Scaled Scores (cstmss)?

Addressing Ambivalence Using Change Talk

Ambivalence occurs when service users have conflicting motivations about the desired change. On one hand, the service user may see the benefits of the change. On the other hand, service users may see equal or greater benefits to maintaining the status quo.

You will determine which “flavor” of ambivalence the service user in your case study is demonstrating. Then, you will consider how to use change talk to help them move beyond their ambivalence.

To Prepare

  •  Pay particular attention to the different “flavors” of ambivalence and how to evoke change talk to help service users move beyond ambivalence.
  • Identify which flavor of ambivalence your service user is demonstrating.
  • Consider how you would evoke change talk to help the service user move beyond their ambivalence.

By Day 4

Identify the Hart City case study you were assigned in the subject line of your post.

Post a description of which flavor of ambivalence your service user is demonstrating, and explain why. Finally, explain how you would evoke change talk to help the service user move beyond their ambivalence. Be specific and use examples to illustrate your explanation.

HART CITY CASE STUDY

Alma

Alma is a 40-year-old woman who has just been admitted to the Hart City Substance Abuse Clinic via a court order. She had three driving under the influence (DUI) offenses in the past year. Recently, while driving under the influence, she jumped a curve and hit a pedestrian. He survived; however, he needs extensive rehabilitation. The police convicted Alma of reckless endangerment as well as drunk driving and ordered her to an inpatient facility. Alma is married with four children all under the age of 16. She is the chief executive officer (CEO) of a multinational organization. Her job requires her to travel two weeks each month. Early on, Alma and her husband decided that he would stay home and raise the children. He is also a writer, but he has yet to publish anything significant. Alma has been the sole financial provider for her family for 16 years. Alma adamantly denies that she has a substance abuse problem and does not want to stay in treatment for the required 30 days. She is hostile towards the staff and in need of an intake assessment and referral for treatment. Her family is also in need of referrals for emotional support.
