close reading

Reading is both a pleasurable pastime and an academic skill. To get the most out of any reading, whether it is a relaxing novel, a textbook, or a report from your employer, you must be able to read it carefully and comprehend it fully. This is called close reading. For this assignment, you will choose one passage from a piece of literature, just a couple of paragraphs, and do a close reading of it to increase your understanding and hone your abilities to get the most out of anything you read.Instructions: Read Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. Choose a section where the writer makes the experience meaningful, striking, or revealing. Examine this section for evidence of revealing a depth that reaches beyond the poem. In 2-3 pages, address the following prompts/questions:

  1. Name three literary tools used in this piece and briefly describe how they are used. Examples are theme, tone, mood, symbolism, foreshadowing, irony, imagery.
  2. What does Frost tell us about the character at this moment? What does he leave out?
  3. How does the character communicate (through words, gestures, or other means,) and what does he/she say?
  4. How does the writer convey the character’s identity and culture? What symbols are used to communicate gender, race, class, occupation, and/or other identity categories?
  5. How does this passage relate to the human experience overall? How do you relate as a reader?

Researchers have documented systematic variation in Medicare spending and health services utilization across various geographic regions for decades. The findings also evidence that high Medicare spending is unrelated to health outcomes. Policymakers have changed Medicare payment systems to promote high-value care. As key stakeholders in the health care delivery system, health care organizations and providers play an important role in health care spending.

You are taking on the role of a new CEO of a hospital that was identified as having high health care cost and utilization. In the first meeting with the board, you are tasked to reduce health care spending and utilization in your hospital. Your board provides a list of factors influencing health care spending and service uses. Your board asks you to prioritize the list and select two to three of the most critical determinants to implement a strategic plan.

Some categories of the factors influencing health care spending and service uses are the following:

· The operating cost regarding the supplies needed to care for patients.

· Diversity within patient populations, patients’ current state of health, access to care, insurance coverage, and patients’ preferences for their care.

· Physicians’ decisions on what care to give and the availability of reliable medical evidence to guide those decisions.

In the next meeting, you are required to present your strategic plan to your board. Be sure to include the appraised factors in the list that you deemed the most important. Justify your rationales for your selections.

In your initial post,

· Propose your solutions to achieve a reduction in health care spending and utilization while maintaining quality of care.

· Support your response with a minimum of two scholarly sources that were published in the last 5 years. Be sure to cite your references using proper APA Style (see APA: Formatting Your References List (Links to an external site.) for assistance).

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

STATSTISTICS

Descriptive statistics allow us to describe the distribution of a single variable. This is very useful when needing to know the how one parameter behaves, but it does not provide a definitive answer to questions like:
Is the mean above a certain value?
Is the deviation less than a desired amount?
How do the results for two different groups compare?

Hypothesis testing allows a definitive answer to such questions. A hypothesis tests consists of several elements:
i. null hypothesis
ii. test statistic cut-off (value based on the specified confidence interval)
iii. test statistic sample (value based on the data collected)
iv. decision to “reject the null hypothesis” or to “fail to reject the null hypothesis”
v. explanation of what that result meets in context

Give an example of a hypothesis test. You may choose an example from the textbook, an example from another source, or your own example. Be sure that you provide a citation for any example used.

For your hypothesis test example, identify each of the following:

1) null hypothesis – Explain this null hypothesis. Explain what the alternative hypothesis is. Explain what rejecting the null hypothesis would allow you to conclude.

2a) test statistic utilized – Specify what distribution (z, t, chi-squared, F, etc is considered) is considered.
2b) test statistic cut-off – What is the percent confidence and what value does that give for the border between rejecting and failing to reject the null hypothesis?
2c) test statistic calculated – What value does the test statistic have for the data?

3) decision – Is the calculated test statistic greater than or less than the cut-off value? Do you “reject” or “fail to reject” the null hypothesis?

4) explanation – Explain what this decision means in the context of the problem. Be sure you include the percent confidence and the null/alternative hypothesis in your explanation.

Core Principles

You have been hired as the new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for PostCyberSolutions (PCS) LLC to overhaul the cyber security program. In addition to local PCS information systems, the CISO is responsible for ensuring the various program managers maintain security compliance for customer systems under PCS security cognizance. PCS holds several government contracts in various regulatory environments making CISO a challenging position.

One of your first actions to improve the security program is to create a working group between the Information Technology, Engineering, and Security departments to foster better communication, address information system security challenges, and to work off action items. During this week’s working group meeting, an informative debate breaks out regarding the three core principles of information security and which one is most important: confidentiality, integrity, or availability. The working group debate stemmed from discussions regarding security protections for PCS’s new contract to overhaul the early warning missile detection system for the Ministry of Defense in Istanbogus.

Rank each of the three security principles in the order of importance for this system. Explain your rationale for each ranking to include any factors, criteria, and assumptions you made in selecting the order of precedence. Include at least one research reference and associated in-text citation using APA standards. In your replies to your peers discuss their ranking/rationale.

Econometrics homework (Regression, plotting, f-test)

Please attach all the code from R and the output you get. Justify you findings at every step.

Run an OLS regression with price as your dependent variable (using the first 16

regressors).

Include your summary output and the standardized residual-leverage plot. Do you see

any

“problematic” observations? What would that mean? Manually standardize the residuals

and calculate how many standard deviations each is from the residual mean. Which

observations have residuals that are more than 4 standard deviations from the mean?

Describe those observations and whether or not you see implausible values.

After removing any observations for which you DID find implausible values in (1) run the

regression again. Use a Q-Q plot and a Jarque-Bera test to determine whether

residuals appear to be normally distributed. Use a RESET test to determine whether a

linear functional form appears to be appropriate.

Which variables do you think might have nonlinear relationships with price? Why?

Which

variables might require interaction terms? Why?

Use a series of F tests to determine the best polynomial structure to use and whether or

not

to include the interaction terms that you suggest in (3). Run an OLS regression with

your new, nonlinear model and include your summary output. Run the Jarque-Bera and

RESET tests again, does the result change? Do you see evidence of misspecification?

Short paper apa (citations)

China case study in  Custom VitalSource Text, and write a short paper that answers the following questions from the textbook:

1. (a) Assume that you work as the senior vice president for international markets for Google. Your job is to prepare the company for its move into China. During negotiations with Chinese officials, you are given the following ultimatum: remove all links to webpages blocked by the Chinese government from search results. Otherwise, Google will be blocked and unavailable to Chinese citizens. China is a large new market for Google, so the consequences of being excluded from that market are quite serious. Also, competitors (like Yahoo) seem willing to play along with China. What would you recommend to Google’s CEO about how to proceed? (b) What are the dangers involved in Google’s current strategy?

2. Should companies like Cisco be concerned that their routers are being used to filter out sensitive content in countries like China? Are they complicit in China’s censorship regime?

3. What is your moral assessment of the Chinese government’s efforts to censor the Internet? In your view, do the Internet’s free speech properties (embedded in its underlying code) slowly erode any government’s ability to control online expression?

Why is it important for Americans today to discuss the topic of slavery?

1) What do you think about Barnes’ Answer to the question?? Why is it important for Americans today to discuss the topic of slavery?
BARNES’ ANSWER:
It is essential for everyone, not just Americans, https://convenientpaperwriters.com/midterm-examthe-above-preparation-is-important-since-you-can-only-take-the-week/ to discuss slavery and its effects on people of color. Knowing your past is ideal for making a better future for all people. Slavery has always been and always will be associated with racism because white people claim to be the superior race to any other group.

Many slaves were taken from their homelands and forced into servitude in America. More than four million slaves were stolen from their original lands and traded for other goods in America. Saying that, America has the largest slavery group in the world. Eight of ten Americans say that the situation of individuals of color in current America is a very serious situation. Of this, around 59% of people state that the tradition of servitude influences the individuals of colors’ status in America’s culture is serious (Acharya, Blackwell, & Sen, 2016). https://myhomeworkassister.com/im-working-on-a-writing-question-and-need-guidance-to-help-me-understand-better-36/

Furthermore, the study also states that four out of ten Americans say that white America has not given people of color the same equal rights as those who are white (Acharya, Blackwell, & Sen, 2016). Til this day, slavery still influences how people think, the locations where certain groups of people are forced to live, the job force and paychecks, a whites person’s regard towards those of color, and sadly – numerous other racial reasons.

These reasons alone should encourage people of color to continue to fight for the equality of rights. As we all know, slavery is still alive today and going strong in America nearly 150 years after it was supposed to have ended. There is no way to compute how many slaves there are in this nation today, but some experts say that the number is in the hundreds of thousands and rising. When you say that all men were created equal, this is not nearly a true statement.

In order to have change, change must first come with the rearranging within the constitution. It is a known fact that people of color created America, but America is not for people of color. This land was stolen from people of color. So no, I haven’t learned anything new with the research that I have done because nothing has changed over a significant amount of years. https://trustedessayhelpers.com/2021/06/01/p%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8c%e2%80%8d%e2%80%8dost-a-description-2/

2) What do you think about Sovine’s Answer to the question?? Why is it important for Americans today to discuss the topic of slavery?

SOVINE’S ANSWER:
I feel that it is important for Americans to discuss slavery. The reason is because, no matter how much we hate it, it is a part of our history. If history were to ever be erased, then it would just be doomed to repeat itself.
In 1860, the United States had the largest slave society in the America’s. The total number of people in bondage was almost 4 million. Many experts believe there are hundreds of thousands of slaves, still today. However, there is no way to enumerate an exact number. Today, slavery produces and estimated revenue of $95 billion annually across the globe (Stevenson B., 2013)

In the United States, slavery began in the 17th Century. Settlers were in search of cheaper labor for the tobacco, cotton, and rice fields. The first African slaves were brought to Jamestown by a Dutch ship. Over a 200 year span, an approximate hundreds of thousands of slaves were brought from Africa.
Also sold into slavery, were the Irish. The Irish slave trade began after James II sold around 30,000 Irish to America. Ireland became the biggest source of human livestock for the English merchants.

In the years 1641 to 1652, approximately 500,000 Irish were killed by the English. Approximately 300,000 were sold as slaves. Many avoid calling them slaves. They tend to claim they were “indentured servants.” But in most cases, the Irish were nothing more than human cattle (Martin J., 2008)

I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but African Americans weren’t the only slaves. What I do believe is that slavery is wrong. No matter what nationality, race, or religion it pertains to. I didn’t learn anything new from my research because this was stuff that I already knew about.
