Peer 2

respond to your classmates by examining the same works of art they examined. Provide your reflection on the work, and consider how it is similar or different from their interpretations.

PEERS RESPONSE:

After reading the material and watching the videos, I was intrigued on how art can be looked at differently. i like that the definition of art is not one solid definition as there is multiple definitions to the word and more of definition of one owns self thought. I was surprised by the art forms chapter of the text book (Introduction to Art: Design, Context, and Meaning, n.d.). I find it interesting how art has changed over time with technology but you still see your two and three dimensional Art. in todays world I feel as four dimension art is more popular due to the technology that we are discovering where as two and three dimensional art is kind of considerate historical in its own way. In a way I feel as we all started off with two dimensional art growing up drawing, coloring, and painting without even knowing it was considered art.

I decided to go with a painting from The National Gallery Google Virtual Tour. This tour was made of two dimensional art mostly of oil on canvas paintings. I have chosen a painting Titled “Score”, from the artist Paolo Veronese. (Paolo Veronese | Scorn | NG1324 | National Gallery, London, n.d.). This painting is a part of a series of paintings called the four allegories of Love. The four painting that are apart of this series are, Unfaithfulness, Respect, Happy Union, and Score. My initial reaction to this painting was confusion, at first glance it looked like a baby just beat up a man infront of these women. Then i thought about the video I watched on skills of describing (Smarthistory, 2012) looking further in detail I realized it was cupid stopping the man from sexualizing this particular women, you can see cupid is disappointed in this man for his actions. the women in the green comes to take this particular women away from this man who is trying to sexualize her. Once I understood the meaning behind this painting I understand why there is a series. Every painting in this series tells a different story. This painting is one of four of the series which indulges the concerns of trial and rewards of love.

marketing blog strategy

Blog Strategy: For this assignment, you will choose one of the companies listed below. Then, follow the directions to develop a blog strategy for your company.

1. Modern Mowing – this company provides lawn care (mowing, seeding and fertilizing) to suburban neighborhoods using ALL organic products.

2. Sea Strands – this company provides hair care products (shampoos, conditioners) to women. Their products are created from seaweed and are less toxic than traditional shampoos. This product is recommended for women with a variety of hair issues.

3. All A’s – this company provides a specialized technique to improve test taking skills for young people. It is an online service.

As you know from the reading, a blog should not promote a company. Rather it should make the company an expert in something. Pick one company and develop an area of expertise that the company can write about regularly in a blog. To complete the assignment you need to answer the following questions below using the numbering system.

1. Pick a topic for the company. This topic should highlight your area of expertise.

2. Pick a target market and describe the target market. Be specific.

3. Explain why the topic and your area of interest would be of interest to the target audience.

4. Explain why being an expert in this topic is helpful in the effort to get found on-line. To answer this question, pretend you are the consumer. What phrase or key words would the consumer put in the Google search box and why? Does your area of expertise match what a consumer is most likely to Google when searching for answers? Here is a hint: If you choose the Seaweed company, consider how a consumer thinks when searching for hair care products. Seaweed shampoo is a completely new product. A consumer wouldn’t know to even Google ‘seaweed shampoo.” Therefore, you shouldn’t expect “seaweed shampoo” to be the key word combination that gets your company found.

Instead, you have to identify what you think the consumer might be Googling that is related to the product and the needs expressed by the consumer.

5. Using the information above, create an editorial calendar covering two months. Each month should have a different theme related to your area of expertise. For each month, suggest two (2) blog posts related to the theme. You are not writing the blog posts. You are simply suggesting compelling titles for the blogs.

I am providing you with an example of how to write blog titles for an area of expertise. For my example, I’ve created a fake company that makes shoes for people with odd shoe sizes – very small, narrow, large and wide. The company wants to do more than just talk about their shoes. because this will sound like an ad. Instead, they understand that being an expert will help them find people trying to solve a problem with a product. After a company brainstorming, the company identifies an area of expertise that they believe will help them attract the buyers for their shoes: common foot problems. The reason they have chosen ‘foot problems’ is because people with odd shoe sizes often have foot problems. Therefore, they can ‘get found’ by showing their expertise on this topic. In summary, the company is targeting people with uncommon shoe sizes with a focus on women. They hope to find these women because they are expecting that this target market will be searching online for information related to foot problems.

Here is a partial example of their editorial calendar.

January – Theme “Winter Boots”

Blog Title 1 – “5 Ways to Stretch Boots”

Blog Title 2 – “Why Do My Feet Hurt So Much In Winter?”

The book gives tips on how to create blog titles. Use the tips the book provides. It is also important to test your titles by Googling them yourself. If the search does not result in anything, it’s probably a bad title.

6. Choose 5 key words to use in the blog headlines. At least two should be longtailed keywords. Explain the concept of a longtailed key word and show why it makes sense here. Again – test your key words. Are they returning what you want? If not, they won’t work for your target market.

7.  Why are key words important to being found? Why would your target market search on the key words you have selected?

8. Discuss two sites where you could place links to the company blog. Do these sites have a category that matches your blog theme? Why would this be important. (Use your book to find sites that take links.)

Your answer should be at least 3 pages long.

Business Law Final Project due Saturday July 10, 2021 at 6PM Eastern Time

Final Project – Project 2 – 20%

Due SATURDAY of Week 8, 11:59 pm ET

  • This course officially ends Tuesday, 11:59 pm ET, week 8.  The project can be accepted late until the official course ending on Tuesday, 11:59 pm ET,  as per the Late Policy posted in Content.  There is no grace period for submitting work beyond 11:59 pm ET, Tuesday, week 8.

Submit to Assignment Folder.

Purpose: The purpose of this project is to reflect on, analyze and apply tort law, product liability law, agency and contract law, and their potential risks and liabilities in a business. The project requires you to identify and analyze legal issues and to make recommendations.

You will also develop skills in critical thinking to create an in-depth comprehensive analysis.

The project relates to the concepts covered in weeks 1-7.  You should refer to assigned materials in earlier weeks of the course, including Instructor Notes.

This project relates to the following course outcomes:

  • recommend appropriate actions in the business environment based on an understanding of sources of law, substantive legal concepts, legal process and procedure, and available remedies
  • analyze contractual rights, obligations, liabilities, and remedies in the business environment
  • analyze tort rights, obligations, liabilities, and remedies in the business environment

Background:  The Clean-N-Shine (“Clean”) owners are meeting with TLG in final consultations before Clean opens business operations.  The purpose of these final meetings is to identify the:

  • areas of business law presenting the greatest potential risk and liabilities for Clean; and
  • areas of business operations vulnerable to potential risks and liabilities for which Clean should seek legal counsel.

Winnie and Ralph have asked you to provide a report that presents your reflections and recommendations based on your research and analysis during the past seven weeks of TLG’s consultation with the Clean owners.

Instructions

The report will have two (2) parts.  Each part is entirely separate from the other part.

Part I.  Risks and Liabilities

Analyze and discuss two (2) areas of business law that present the greatest potential risks and liabilities for the Clean business, from among these areas only:

  • Negligence related to any business operations
  • Negligence related specifically to premises liability
  • Strict product liability related to the use of EPI products for Clean services for clients
  • Strict product liability related specifically to Clean’s purchasing EPI products and reselling those EPI products to clients, consumers
  • Contracts with employees
  • Contracts for the sale of goods with cleaning clients
  • Agency law and contracts with any Clean agents

For EACH of the two (2) areas of the law selected from the above list, do the following:    LABEL ALL PARTS

(1).  Provide a background explanation of the area of law, e.g., negligence, contracts for the sale of goods, etc. (be detailed and specific so any reader can understand the meaning of the specific area of law).  For example, if you choose Negligence as one area of law, explain its meaning, discuss elements of negligence, etc.  Needs to be at least 2-3 + paragraphs in length to adequately discuss in depth FOR EACH AREA OF LAW SELECTED from list above.

a.  discussion of first area of law selected

b.  discussion of second area of law selected

(2).  Analyze and explain the specific potential risks and liabilities presented by the first area of law selected in (1) above.  Discuss in detail why and how the first selected area of law creates risk of liability for Clean.  Needs to be a minimum of 2-3+ paragraphs to be sufficiently in depth and comprehensive.

(3).  Analyze and explain the specific potential risks and liabilities presented by the second area of law selected in (1) Above.  Discuss in detail why and how the second selected area of law creates risk of liability for Clean.  Needs to be a minimum of 2-3+ paragraphs to be sufficiently in depth and comprehensive.

(4).  Provide a specific example/scenario situation illustrating why and how the potential risks and liabilities could arise for Clean for the first area of law selected and discussed in (2) above.  Needs to be a minimum of 2-3+ paragraphs to be sufficiently in depth and comprehensive.

(5).  Provide a specific example/scenario situation illustrating why and how the potential risks and liabilities could arise for Clean for the second area of law selected and discussed in (3) above.  Needs to be a minimum of 2-3+ paragraphs to be sufficiently in depth and comprehensive.

Citations required: Remember to use in-text citations in the narrative for all reference works and full citations on a separate References page.

DO NOT USE DIRECT QUOTATIONS – summarize or paraphrase all information from resources; direct quotes, even if put in quotation marks, will result in point deduction on the APA usage section of the rubric

Label all parts, 1 a., 1b., 2,3,4,5.

Part II.  Legal Counsel

This section of the project is entirely different from Part I.   The analysis in Part II does not need to mirror the discussion of specific areas of law in Part I.  Discuss as many reasons and areas of law and business that are important for Clean to have advice of legal counsel.

During the past eight weeks, we have discussed and emphasized the importance of the Clean owners seeking business advice from TLG and the importance of Clean –  and every business –  seeking legal counsel from an attorney for various aspects of business operations.

In Part II, you are to reflect on your experience in consulting with the Clean owners, your research and analysis, and make the following recommendations.   Minimum of 3 + paragraphs in length.

A.  Evaluate and explain why you recommend that the Clean owners seek legal counsel with an attorney for any  – or all – aspects of its business operations, i.e., contract writing, procedures to protect against negligence risks, recruitment policies, etc.

  • Explain and support the rationale for your recommendation specifically, in detail and comprehensively, using examples, personal experience(s), citations to resources, etc. You may use substantive resources from the internet for this discussion, but do not use law firm websites
  • Consider specific areas of business operations for which it is particularly important to seek legal counsel and include those in your discussion

Note:  There is no single correct answer; the detailed, specific rationale and support for your recommendation is most important.

Some of the discussion in Part II is your personal opinion and may not be cited.  However, support and bolster your opinion with citations to resources as much as possible and certainly you must include a citation each time you do use information from a specific resource (i.e., from assigned course materials) to support your conclusions.

DO NOT USE DIRECT QUOTATIONS – summarize or paraphrase all information from resources; direct quotes, even if put in quotation marks, will result in point deduction on the APA usage section of the rubric

Scenario

The Corporate Director of Acquisitions has approached you to assist with preparing financial data to help identify a potential new acquisition for your company. They have narrowed down the target to two companies and need your help in selecting the best one. You agree to help and think that the best approach would be to take the two companies and prepare a vertical and horizontal analysis of both the income statement and balance sheets for two years of data.

You discuss your plan with the director, and you both decide that you should create an Excel file containing four tabs, labeling the four tabs as follows:

  • Tab1: “Income statement vertical analysis”
  • Tab 2: “Income statement horizontal”
  • Tab 3: “Balance sheet vertical analysis”
  • Tab 4: “Balance sheet horizontal analysis”

You should be turning in a word document with your assessment of each companies performance AND the attached excel template filled out.

Operational Compliance

Operational security compliance is a necessity in any working cybersecurity environment, as it sets the standard for policy, rule, and guideline regulation. Therein, it is necessary for security professionals to grasp the fundamental aspects of operational compliance, if they are expected to be able to manage day-to-day operations that require a different level of compliance throughout a given organization.

Students will create a web portal data flow diagram of their hypothetical organization’s operational environment using Visio or a similar diagramming software. Within the web portal data flow diagram, students will show how the web portal is compliant. The web portal data flow diagram must:

  1. Display the organization’s technical requirements (related and unrelated applications, services and links).
  2. Display the compliance of associated servers, routers, access-control components, data storage, internal and external data communication, data backup, e-mail servers, and so forth.
  3. Identify related systems and assets, regulatory requirements, and overall risk approach.
  4. Demonstrate each IT task to the next as aligned to regulations/compliance. For example, start with the user logging in, and then go through each step and how it is validated.

APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

Refer to “CYB-650 Operational Compliance Scoring Guide,” prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Weekly News Round-up

Research the internet or local newspapers about an issue regarding child protection. The article/newspaper article must be within the last 6 months and you must DEAL WITH ONLY CURRENT NEWS ABOUT A CHILD PROTECTIVE ISSUE OR AN ISSUE that can manifest itself into a child abuse/neglect.

For instance: child poverty, lack of education, children’s death, lack of investigation procedures, etc.

Provide a copy of the article in your submission. If this article is on a newspaper you may scan the article for the class and instructor to review and attach it next to your review.

Please follow these instructions in detail as you will be evaluated in your ability to perform the following:

1. Come up with a title for your article review paper. This title should reflect the focus of your review and NOT the title of the article. Decide between a declarative title, descriptive title or interrogative title. Write your cover page properly. Ensure that you follow APA guidelines for your paper. If you should have any questions about APA format, you are encouraged to use the APA resources available in the course.

2. Write the introduction of your review. The introduction of the article review will have the identification sentence. It will also mention the central themes of the article and the arguments and claims of the author. You also need to state the author’s thesis. Sometimes, the thesis has multiple points. The thesis may not be clearly stated in the article, so you may have to determine the thesis yourself.

Don’t: make statements in the first person (“I”).

Do: give an overall impression of the article using the 3rd person and a formal, academic style.
  • Your introduction should only be 10-25% of your review.
  • End the introduction with your thesis. Your thesis should address the focus of the article you chose:
    • For example: Although the author has some good points, his article is biased and contains some misinterpretation of data from others’ analysis of the effectiveness of parent-child interaction therapy in the prevention of child/abuse and neglect.

Summarize the article. Express the main points, arguments, and findings of the article in your own words, referring to your summary for assistance. Show how the article supports its claims. Make sure to include the article’s conclusions. This may be done in several paragraphs, although the length will depend on requirements established by your instructor or publisher.

Don’t: cover specific examples, statistics, or background information familiar to experts in the field.

Do: capture the main points of each section, as space allows.

  • Use direct quotes from the author sparingly.
  • Review the summary you have written. Read over your summary several times to ensure that your words are an accurate description of the author’s article.

Write your critique. Use your outline of opinions to write several paragraphs explaining how well the author addressed the topic. Express your opinion about whether the article was a clear, thorough, and useful explanation of the subject. This is the core of your article review. Evaluate the article’s contribution to the field and the importance to the field. Evaluate the main points and arguments in the article. Decide if the author’s points help her argument. Identify any biases. Decide if you agree with the writer, then provide sufficient support as to why or why not. End by suggesting which audiences would benefit from reading the article.

Don’t: fill your review with a long list of unrelated critiques.

Do: tie your grievances and praise together into a coherent argument, forming your own thesis.
  • Support your critique with evidence from the article or other texts.
  • The summary portion is very important for your critique. You must make the author’s argument clear in the summary section for your evaluation to make sense.
  • Remember, this is not where you say if you liked the article or not. You are assessing the significance and relevance of the article.
  • Use a topic sentence and supportive arguments for each opinion. For example, you might address a particular strength in the first sentence of the opinion section, followed by several sentences elaborating on the significance of the point.

Conclude the article review. In a paragraph, summarize the main points of the article, as well as your opinions about its significance, accuracy, and clarity. If relevant, also comment on implications for further research or discussion in the field.
  • This should only be about 10% of your overall essay.
  • For example: This critical review has evaluated the article “Protective Measures employed by a corrupt child abuse and fractured system” by Theresa McManon . The arguments in the article show the presence of bias, prejudice, argumentative writing without supporting details, and misinformation. These points weaken the author’s arguments and reduce his credibility.

Proofread. Reread the review. Look for grammar, mechanics, and usage mistakes. Make sure to cut any extra, unneeded information.
  • Make sure you have identified and discussed the 3-4 key issues in the article.
